The local country cafe The Pinnacle Peak General Store and Cafe is a landmark in North Scottsdale. In the early mornings, you'll find the store full of landscapers stopping to fill up on gas and grabbing drinks and snacks on their way to work. The ladies at the big check out counter keep them smiling and moving as it's s a constant flow. Walk to the back, and you'll find the cozy cafe full of locals meeting and catching up with friends over a warm country breakfast. The wood floors and the vintage items hanging all around and above remind me of my aunt's house. It's such a comfy, warm vibe that I like to top off with biscuits and gravy with country fried steak. Over the 14 years of working in the area, I've stopped by many mornings to grab biscuits and gravy on the way to work. As you leave the cafe to pay at the back counter, you then pass the small US Postal Office that continues to run. The plaza outside also has plenty of tables and chairs with a neat old mission aesthetic surrounding you. Many spaces sit empty, but a few businesses do have storefronts. Table for 4, we had a little of everything, a large 10" plate size pancake with eggs and sausage, a French Toast 3, thicked slice with bacon and eggs, biscuits and gravy with eggs and the last with a hot cake and eggs. Quick service with a smile. Now the only downside was the host table who just told you to sit anywhere and a cashier who was more interested in reading his book. read more

It bears mentioning first that the place is unassuming and if you enter through one side you're in a gas station, but through the other you're met with a large patio/ atrium shared by other businesses. The patio is beautiful and relaxing with a calm fountain and long-tended plants. The food is good and consistent - typical American. People don't seem to mind kids and dogs being around - especially on the patio. The atmosphere is very casual, as it's often families or golfers fresh off the course. The service is hit or miss, but depends on who you get and how stressed they are because they do get extremely busy. Bonus if you go at the holiday season because the ambiance is 110% Christmas. You mostly see the decor when you go in to the Western and old-timey restaurant space inside which seems like it hasn't changed since the day they opened their doors in 1977. Great classic neighborhood spot! Despite being a little dark, it is very clean. You can tell that a lot of neighbors are regulars there, and that says a lot. The portions are large and the prices are extremely reasonable!! If you're looking for a "not fancy" casual place to drop by and eat, I totally recommend it. The hostess is terrible and clearly don't want to be there. The waitress didn't write down the order and it came out wrong. The meat omelette had strips of bacon in it.. not chopped up, and burned pieces of sausage... and the country potatoes had more paprika than anything and just terrible. This morning I met one of my most favorite friend and brother Monty. I am a Baby Christian and I am being Discipled by Monty. He asks me Questions about my past , he calls me his Jewish Brother. This is a well known landmark and has been around forever and I finally got to try it. It was peak Sunday brunch time and we were able to immediately get a table. It has a fun old school vibe and the people were very friendly and efficient at service. The food was good but nothing to come back for honestly. The ambiance of the place is charming- it reminds me of a interesting little thrift shop. Lots of odds & ends making for an eclectic atmosphere. The staff was helpful and prompt. Friends raved about this place for breakfast and we were definitely not impressed. My two egos over medium came out wayyyyy undercooked and after kindly requesting them to be coked to medium, waited five minutes for them to return scalded on one side with a very runny yolk..... not rocket science! The pancake I had was doughy and chewy, the bacon was ok. My friend's three egg omelette looked to be a two egg portion and the coffee was lousy - maybe the old cowboys around the campfire enjoyed it but not us. Adding to the Ambiance was the host seating us outside and forgetting to tell a waitperson we were there.... Maybe my friends enjoy it because it's a relatively cheap meal? We've been here many, many times. We like the fact that you can order breakfast or lunch any time it's open. And when the weather permits, it's nice eating in the courtyard. The restaurant looks like it's been there forever because it has. The food is solid but nothing really stands out. Came here for work breakfast with colleagues as it's super close to workplace. Interesting place to visit as it's a one stop shop with everything from a gas station to a post office and old branded memorabilia for sale. There's even an upside down canoe hanging from the ceiling! I'm thinking Kraft would love to take old product packaging for their in office museum or gallery for example. The food was ok but overpriced for what it was and definitely not very flavorful. I got the veggie omelet and opted for fruit instead of hash browns. When you order coffee they bring you a mini carafe like at IHOP, which somehow didn't keep the coffee piping hot. That's kinda a big deal for me as my family knows that a breakfast place doesn't work for me if the coffee isn't piping hot and constantly refilled. Howdy partner! I had to dust off my chaps and water my horse before stepping into this "General Store." I found this inconspicuous cafe while trying out a new dog groomers, located just steps away from this cafe. I had some time to spend, so I went into what I thought was going to be a little cafe, and stepped right into the 1800's, and felt a little "over dressed, in my LuLu Lemon attire!" The General Store consist of a working post office, wood plank floors, a soda fountain, souvenirs galore, along with antiques for sale hanging from every nook and cranny. They do actually have a convenience store, that carries just about every energy drink, candy, beer, and essentials for the modern day persons! They have a self serve pizza, and a coffee shop as well! Once I figured out that there is a little cafe amongst all this "Stuff," I took a table, and was greeted by a friendly server. I took a gander, at what other people were eating around me, omelets, burgers, and more breakfast items. I finally decided on 1/2 sandwich and daily soup. It was fine, not amazing , but not horrible at any means. I think I had more interest in people watching than enjoying my food. I do wish I would of gotten breakfast, it appeared better than my choice. My 4 star rating is because the food and menu choices are good, and this place, surprised me! Loved this cute place! A friend recommended for breakfast and it did not disappoint. While waiting for a table I had time to browse the shop. It's like stepping back in time to get gas, groceries and have a bite to eat with a friend. New coffee bar is great. Food came quickly and was delicious. The place hasn't changed since I last had breakfast about 15 years ago. I thought I'd give it another chance. Food is terrible. Ordered eggs Benedict. English muffin soggy, ham barely edible. Also ordered a hamburger to take home for my son. Seemed just microwaved frozen Patty on cheap bun. My son could not eat it. The dog even balked. Absolutely terrible food.
