My mom recently purchased a gift certificate for my birthday for a one hour message. Stephanie was my therapist, and from start to finsh was phenomenal. The check in process was simple; you give your name, pay for your service, temperature check, and complete a new patient questionnaire and wait to be called for your appointment. After not having a message for quite awhile, the experience itself left me at ease, comfortable and in no pain at all in my upper back near my shoulders. Stephanie showed me a few exercises to stretch the muscles, and maintain posture and allievate the strain in my upper shoulder area. I had a Groupon for the silkpeel microdermabrasion facial treatment. After quick paperwork, I was able to lock up my belongings and was given a nice robe and sandals. My aesthetician met me and explained everything about the treatment. She recommended what to do after and even gave me advice when I had questions about my boyfriend's skin. Confused about the mixed reviews, I've always had good experiences. I've been going here for a few years now. My doctor referred me for a medical massage for knots behind my shoulders and actually wrote me a script for it but I don't think they require one to book a medical massage appointment. I have had a few different massage therapists--Nick and Chelsea have been the most recent. Both of them are very professional and good. The massages are an hour long for $60 and better than most that I have had at other places- more of a deep tissue. They ask you what you want them to focus on at the beginning and really get the knots out. The evening appointments are a little harder to get than ones during the day, but they always call and text you to remind you of your appointment. They also run specials a lot, right now there is one for $50 gift cards for hour massages for the holidays. I may end up getting some as gifts for my family and friends. My therapists have always been very good however their reception area leaves much to be desired. MULTIPLE times I have called & put on hold for a very long while. Finally you have the option to leave a message which I do but have NEVER received a callback. Last time I was there, there were 3 people waiting to be checked in. 2 receptionists. 1 was busy & the other was on her cell phone while we waited to be checked in. read more

So. I'm going to start by saying I went here for a little over a year, once a week for massage therapy. I loved it. I loved it so much that I wanted to gift a massage to my husband for Christmas with one of my favorite therapists. I booked two appointments at the same time, one for him and one for me in November for January 7th. I specifically requested both therapists because I liked them and I knew them. The receptionist made sure that they marked out appts as 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 for confirmations, which I did get. We show up, check in and wait. My husbands therapist comes out and takes him back. About 15 minutes later, a lady walks out and calls my name, however, I have no idea who this person is. she explains to me that my therapist left early due to covid and that instead of calling me and telling me and giving me the option to cancel or come in, she decided she would just take over the appointment herself. She also mentioned that she did this because she saw it was for 2 appointments and not 1 and she didn't want to have to cancel both appointments. But it's ok because she's the manager and has 15 years experience in massage therapy, so it's ok. So I decided to give her a try. As I laid there on the table, I could feel her long nails scratch and dig into my back almost every 15-30 seconds. When were got home, my husband confirmed the scratches and "U" shaped dogs in my back. I explained to her about my injury and that I wanted her to concentrate on my upper body, both sides. That even though it was my right side that was injured, my left side has been compensating for my right, so it also hurts. She never touched my left side. I then began to think about why my initial therapist left. Because of covid. The manager said she just slid her last 3 appointments over to her schedule and let my therapist go home. So is she sick? Is her room compromised? Why are we in here? Now this is all I could think about. The massage, or back rub/scratching was finally over and when I came out, she gave me a nice glass of hot water. It was so hot, I couldn't drink it. Isn't it supposed to be cold? Prior to us coming in for the massages,I told my husband I wanted to tip these two good because I didn't when it was under no fault, but because they took my husband back first and did the old "switch a roo" on me, he didn't know I didn't have the therapist I requested, so he paid and tipped the wrong amount. I couldn't ask for the tip back, so unfortunately the manager, with WAY too long of nails to be giving massages, got a great tip. Normally I would go back, but this was the manager. They didn't give ME, the customer the option on cancelling or not, they took that away. They didn't even tell me upon check in. They called me multiple times to confirm my appointment, but not once to let me know that the person who I specifically requested, had gone home. Not only that, but she didn't even do what I wanted. I paid for a massage, not a back scratch. This is why I had requested who I did and not who I didn't. I had to go get tested because of how vague they were about the covid. I went to the newer Amherst location; it's in the plaza in the building labeled "hive." (They have a small sign on one of the front windows so you know which door to use). Cutest aesthetic, fantastic bathrooms because it's in the same building as a gym. I got the SilkPeel Dermalinfusion with Andrea. She explained everything before she did anything, and my skin (dry to normal) felt hydrated and plump afterward. The introductory $85 instead of the $100-something for first time customers is why I went, since I wanted the microdermabrasion part. 10/10 recommend! read more

Reflexology services are offered here as well. If you have never tried it, you should! Its NOT a massage or a foot rub, its so much more. I got amazing results after the first treatment, but the long term effects were amazing. Foot pain, back pain.....gone, gastro intestinal issues.....gone!! Make an appointment with Lynn, she has two locations, which is convenient depending where I am working that day, and $65 for this service is a steal. I should have known that when a massage spa has a good deal it's a red flag. I purchased a buy one get one half off gift card. I used my first massage and the massage therapist did not stop talking directly the entire appointment. At one point I was on my back facing her, and she was talking so much that she was SPITTING onto my face. On top of that the massage wasn't even good. I thought I would give them another chance after some time and book the second massage with someone else. I just called and they were completely unable to accommodate me into their schedule. They offered no other alternatives. How can you sell a pre-paid gift card and than have no room in your schedule when someone is trying to book two weeks in advance? At this point the gift card is useless to me, I lost money buy purchasing it, and they lost the opportunity for me to give them a second chance. I would never return to this spa nor would I recommend it. read more

At the end of August I scheduled a prenatal massage with this spa. My insurance covers massage therapy which is why I chose this location, and I stated I'm going through insurance on the phone when I made the appt. Fast forward to October 6th, I'm 33 weeks pregnant, experiencing a lot of pain physically, as well as a lot of stress at home caring for a toddler full time and in the process of moving. All I wanted was an hour to myself for some mental and physical relaxation. I had been waiting for this moment for over a month. I find a sitter and get to my appt to find out I was booked incorrectly with a therapist who doesn't take insurance. For personal reasons, I couldn't pay the $80 + tip if not going through insurance. And the worst part of it all- the therapist who does take insurance was there. The receptionist said "they just finished up with their appt and don't have anyone scheduled after, so they should be able to take you!" And they said NO. So this spa turned away a 33 week pregnant mom for no reason, when the error was on their end. PISS POOR. read more

I have been getting regular massages here for over a year. I buy gift cards when they go on sale. I am satisfied for the $50 they charge. Last month I bought a gift card for a special on aromatherapy back massage. I went today and just felt cheated. I thought I had purchased an hour long session for $50 yet it was hardly 1/2 hour and mostly a head massage. By the time I noticed the aroma it was almost over. read more

I've been coming to Spa 400 for many years now. I have had massages, reflexology and skin treatments. All the therapists are very good and will adjust pressure on massages. I have never had a bad massage. They are very accomodating to my schedule and I've never had a problem with scheduling a treatment. They always call to remind me of appointments which is a plus due to my busy schedule. They even were able to push back the start of my last facial treatment by 30 minutes to accomodate a last minute problem I had at work. I highly recommend Spa 400, and the deals on the massages and the photo facial treatments are great! read more
