I have been to many places in both Santa Barbara and LA for waxing, and Spa Cía has by far been my best experience. Molly is so professional, warm, and skilled. She makes a brazilian easy, and is both fast and meticulous. I've read a lot of reviews of estheticians who are supposed to be "perfectionists", but who I've walked away from with tons of hairs and burnt skin. Molly really will spend as much time as you give her getting everything perfect, uses less-irritating sugar wax, and recommends great products and care for preventing ingrowns. Spa Cia is absolutely amazing. As a college student, I have been trying to find a good, afforable waxing place in my "new home." I am so pleased that I was able to find this location. It is conveniently located near state street (a little hidden) but as soon as you enter the actual spa, it is very comfortable and cozy. Star was very careful and helpful with the brazilian as she was telling me what she was going to be doing so I was aware of what was going to be put on my skin. My sugar Brazilian was great!!!!! Super painless and left no wax, bumps and there was very little irritation afterwards. I normally get pretty bad ingrowns too and hardly got any! Conversation continued throughout the appointment and distracted me from any pain, and it was super fast! She did the most painful part first which was super nice too! Got a Brazilian wax by Orquidea a few months ago (over summer) and wanted to DIE. My hair was trimmed yet she proceeded to comment how hairy I am -- isn't this the point of getting the procedure done? Then the wax was nowhere near hot enough as it pulled my skin. I have high pain tolerance but on this day down below was completely inflamed and burning. The studio was crazy hot with no air, and I was sweating (which is NORMAL), yet she continued to make fun of how sweaty I was and dump baby powder over my entire body. The entire procedure took over an hour, whereas at every other salon I've been to, it's taken 30 or less. THEN I get home and notice my entire pubic area is red, there is a ton of stubble left, and in a few days the ingrown hairs start rolling in. After a week my entire bikini area is consumed with red bumps. I was so embarrassed and everything was so irritated, I had to wear granny panties and loose shorts. After 3 months everything has finally subsided and I'm ready for another wax-- DEFINITELY NOT FROM HERE THOUGH. Embarrassing, painful, and uncalled for. read more

I saw Alicia for eyebrow threading and a brazilian wax a few days ago. She was extremely sweet and professional, and I instantly felt at ease. She examined my eyebrows and knew straight away that I had had some bad threading experiences in the past. (I used to go to Layla threading, and I always ended up with thinned out brows and many cuts) Alicia assured me that she would not thin out my brows, and she even showed me how to determine my most natural and full brow shape. She threaded off most of the hair she was intending to remove, and then meticulously tweezed the rest of it. This allowed for very clean and defined brows, with no harsh lines. I really appreciated her perfectionism, and I thought that for once, my brows were in good hands. I was so pleased with the results that I asked her if I could get a brazilian wax as well, although I had previously been intending to get a wax from my usual place next week. She told me she was going to use sugaring as it would be best for my sensitive skin. Brazilian waxes will probably never be pain free, but this was certainly the least painful one I've ever gotten. I really liked the sugaring technique, and it did not bruise my skin or cause redness. After she was done sugaring, she took the time to take care of several bumps I had from my previous brazilian wax, which she informed me were ingrown hairs. She finished off the appointment by giving me excellent recommendations on how to exfoliate the area, advised me on how to prevent hyperpigmentation, and even gave me a discount for being a new customer. I am beyond thrilled with my experience, my eyebrows look great, and the sugaring left my skin very smooth and soft. Will definitely be returning for all my skincare needs! read more
