Not worth the money, only 2 pools are open and they dont give a towel. They give a very small face towel.

My sister last year bought tickets for spa castle which were on sale. Spa castle promote sales for their tickets $20.00 for the weekdays and 25 for the weekends for 50% off during there Chinese New Year 2018 So she decided to buy some. By the way, we have been going to Spa castle for years. They told her "if you buy a lot these tickets they are good until the expired date stamped on the tickets. After the expired date the ticket will go up to the market value rate which was $50.00 for the weekend and $40.00 for the weekdays. So she decided to buy many tickets for the whole family to go. When she bought the ticket the seller representative (both stationed in the hotel and a mall in flushing NY) preferred cash for the tickets and refused to give my sister a receipt for buying the tickets because she paid in cash and told my sister the tickets are receipts. Bullshit this how Spa Castle scam the there costumers and for business reasons for the tickets that they sell. Thats why half of the owners are in jail. Anyway my family and I decided to go on a weekday and gave the front desk employee the tickets, a girl in the front desk asked for an extra $10.00 each because the prices went up. We showed her the expired dates on the tickets which where not expired yet. We asked to talk to the manager (john Kim or Jien Kim) however he refused to listen to us and wanted a extra $10.00 each for each ticket used. We tried to explain to him the seller representative (both stationed in the hotel and a mall in flushing NY) said these tickets are good for the price we bought them for until expired date however he refused to honor the tickets. We were over charged now they are having a sale for $25.00 a ticket for the weekdays and $30.00 for the weekend. Spa castle promote sales for their tickets for 50% off during there Chinese New Year 2109, So now we just paid $30.00 for each ticket more then the sales price that we bought for. So we actually paid $5.00 more each. They ripped us off. We do enjoys spas that they have to offer. However when we used the first floor spas (where they separate the females from the males). Two girls where naked making out. One was sitting on the others lap in the water grinding her, while the other was fondling her. boobs. We told the lady but she pretend not snot understand and ignored us. Young girls with their moms and grandmas come here to enjoy the spa I don't think they need to see that, it is unappropriated and unprofessional. read more

We went here on a weekday during the mid-afternoon - evening. We had a good time for the price. I don't find this place to be "ghetto" as some people stated. I've heard this label being used in way too many reviews once a place has more than a few people of color there at a time. The staff is nice. My only two complaints are that some of jets didn't work in various seats in the pool area. The other is phones should be banned in the pool area. It is annoying when people are too busy taking their thirst trap photos for social media and you're in close proximity of them. The food here is good. They had various salads and fruits. They make freshly squeezed juices and crepes. My 4-star rating is based off the $45 price. For $45 it is what it is. Now if you paid $100 to get in and got the same experience then that's more of a reason to complain. I'm just being realistic here. Lol read more

they literally give u the tiniest towel for your stay, and they require u to dry off before going up or down different levels but how... do you dry off with a hand towel?? They will yell at you for walking to other levels without drying off properly... but like...?? They should provide proper towels then. Other large spas provide a robe and or a large towel. DO NOT RESERVE OR WASTE YOUR TIME IN THIS PLACE! I have traveled all over getting massages and attending spas in a lot of places this place by far was the worst! The security guard was so unprofessional arguing with a patron about going through her belongings and saying "it be your own people" should have made us leave but we had reserved massages that we were already charged for so we stood! Then he made us wait on a line for 40+minutes only to finally check in and the woman says "you didn't have to wait on line you had a reservation" (which mind you we told security that and he made us wait anyway only to say 'my bad' which we assumed he meant sorry) A SPA , A MASSAGE SPEAKS RELAXATION well not here from the start we were put in a non relaxing state of mind then we go in NO RULES BEING IMPLEMENTED AT ALL for example there is "NO CLOTHES BEYOND THIS POINT" area and guess what people entering with clothes on no one to say "you have to be nude" then the biggest turn off in a world full of Covid people were freely walking around with no masks up n down the steps NO MASK three flights of steps and the reason "we are practicing social distancing" ha ha a joke! We wanted to relax in the swim up bar area and they actually had under age children in this area when we spoke to a employee he says "yeah we told them to remove the kids but they refuse" like WHAT KIND OF ANSWERS ARE BEING GIVEN them to add insult to injury we were so non relaxed so frustrated we decide to leave after a massage that cost us almost 400 we checked out to speak to a manager as we are explaining all that took place the rude way a employee handled the kid situation which is clearly breaking rules allowing minors to be where alcohol is being served the manager proves why all his employees don't follow rules or implement them, he really paid us no mind as we were talking he so rudely starts speaking to someone else and handling a diffenrt situation and coming back to us saying "yeah sorry about that" like seriously you run a company and this is how you handled patrons that spent good money their! Very nice place and helpful staff, though I wish someone would give you more directions about where things are or what they suggest. You come in disrobe (btw if you are using groupon, you are charged a small $1-2 fee coming in), you are given a electronic watch that will open your electronic locker and that same watch is waterproof when you wear it in the pool or saunas, and can be used to pay for food that you may get there on the various levels. I loved the infrared red light tables you can lay at, the led color therapy and different heat and chill sauna huts on the first floor. Liked the mini hydrotherapy soak area on the 2nd floor, relax room on the 1.5 floor, and has two sides of the pool. Didnt find the outdoor shower/waterfall therapy, but next time. It does get crowded in the week around 2pm, so just be aware. I did go on a Wednesday. Overall, a great experience, I did get the $9 slippers and felt comfortable walking around, I didnt regret it. They're letting this place go, and it seems like the staff don't care or have been instructed by the owner not to care. It's a shame because with even a little bit more money, genuine care, and a watchful eye, this place could be great. Instead it feels like they're sucking the money out of you and laughing at your foolishness. -- Most everything needs to be replaced. The locks on the lockers are finicky and falling apart. The wristbands have faded and are peeling, and they're made of this yellowing plastic -- nasty. Some of the wooden recliners are broken. The furniture is ripped and used. The recliners in the sleeping room are often wet because they let wet people from the pool lie on their pleather recliners. One can only imagine how much mold is inside these chairs. In the nude area, pools weren't keeping temperature like they used to, either -- the "hot" pool, usually at 102° - 104°, kept reading at 100°. The kids pool, normally at 99, regularly fluctuated between 100 and 105°. Couldn't get that deep warm soak. -- Processes make zero sense. They have a new self checkout machine, but it gives you a receipt and you still have to get back in line. Plus, 1 of those machines is already broken. At the Skygarden restaurant on the 3rd floor, they have two new Android tablets as checkout machines -- one is already broken. The other one lets you order food, but not drinks. I tried to order a drink at the counter but was ignored. -- Not Interested in your feedback. When we checked out, they didn't ask if we enjoyed our experience or got everything we wanted. On a few occasions I've seen them handle angry customers, and Spa Castle staff always ESCALATES the situation by being rude and awful. -- Dirty. There was trash, hair, and debris in the dry sauna; the mats in the bathrooms are ripped; the soap dispensers are wrapped in these really old looking gross towels; there's hair on the ground (I try not to look too close); stained furniture; wet furniture; broken furniture. -- They give you one tiny hand towel to dry your body and that's it. They don't hand out more towels any more like they used to. Attendant was nonexistent. -- The women's locker room has an "EXIT" door toward the back that is ajar and not insulated, making the back part of the locker room frigid. Not fun when you are nude. -- Food is so so. I got the bibimbap with beef -- they put the tiniest, most crumbly portion of beef inside. The bowl wasn't hot enough to toast the rice on the bottom. -- Overcrowded, loud teenagers, kids, people using their phone. One guy was walking around and having a call on speaker. Another child was using their tablet at full volume, and so was another adult. WTF? They should have some adult only hours so you can relax, floors with no phones, and a volume limit. -- No plus sizes. They have some large sizes but My plus size friends struggle to use their default uniform, esp the pants, which create chafing. Save your money. Spa at home. read more

We just left and swore we'd never go back. Staff was super unfriendly. Especially the lady that "greets you" at the woman's locker room. She would not crack a smile for anything! Super rude and snappy attitude. The environment itself was so loud. Complete opposite of what you imagine when you think Spa... so disappointing. The spa itself was filthy. And half of the things were Out of Order, including the frozen drink blender, machines, Pools etc... the rugs looked moldy on the bottom and mind you we were barefoot so it was extra gross. We paid full price and nothing was included besides shorts/shirt and a rag, not a towel, literally a tiny little rag. Such a disappointing experience and far from relaxing from the moment we stepped foot into this facility. I read some reviews about the staff being unprofessional so I guess I should have already expected the service I received. When we arrived we waited in line as there was only one person at the front desk (handling what seemed to be a lot of tasks). The front desk lady charged me for my entry and never asked if I had a massage or service booking she just assumed I was only there for the pools. My sister checked in next and she had a gift certificate promotion. The lady immediately said she needed to book this in advance. My sister specified that she did and had a reservation. The lady asked for the credit card that this gift was purchased with. By luck, my sister had her spouse's credit card and was able to show it. The lady then returns to ask for his ID. When making this reservation my sister was NEVER told to bring these pieces of documentation! Also why would she? Someone gave her a gift. Would you send your card info and ID card to someone you send a spa gift to? The process just does not make sense. The manager happened to walk into the spa at that very exact time (1pm!) and made note of the situation. All she said was she would tell the masseuses that we were running late. When I asked to speak to her again, she was a no show. The front desk lady was keeping in contact with the manager via text about the situation! They advised that we at least get a picture of the ID. While waiting in the lobby, I observed so many unfortunate things! The front desk lady would say different things to everyone. There was no consistency! People were lost! I saw people coming out of the locker room half naked not knowing where to go! One lady that had checked in before me was sent to the first floor and then came back down asking about her massage and the front desk lady was so rude to her! (She was supposed to be sent to the locker room first and THEN to where she would get the treatment!) People weren't given instructions what to do, it was just so so so messy in there! My sister and I were very discouraged and almost glad we got to see this happening because this is not a place I would like to spend my money on. Plus with covid happening who knows what else they are skipping steps on?! We were not allowed to go in without showing the Identification card of the person that purchased the gift. After waiting for nearly 45 minutes, we decided to ask for a refund. We were told we would receive an email immediately after about this refund and have not done so yet. I'm hoping the refund process is not another issue! The unprofessionalism and rudeness of this facility is truly sad. Came here as soon as they opened, and very few people were there. It was a different experience, walking around nude in the gender specific locker rooms and skinny dipping in the pools in there. At first I was really nervous about the idea, but soon relaxed and got used to it; it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, even when people started filling in around noon. The saunas were cool, made me sweat a ton. It was as if I did a major work out by the time I was finished. The pools opened a bit later than the saunas, but were nice when the place was empty. My favorite is the hot tub, and fits only few people. So I would recommend going at a less busier time. Try to avoid peak times, too many kids make the place get annoying. read more

I came here on a Thursday in November from 12pm-6pm and luckily there was no overcrowding. It was my sisters birthday so we came here with my mom and it was the perfect gift of relaxation for her! As soon as you walk in, it feels as if you're not in NYC anymore and inside a resort. The front desk was friendly in answering all of our questions and there was no line to enter. You get a watch bracelet to use when purchasing extras and you have to show ID to receive a 21+ plus wristband. After the front desk you enter the locker rooms. If you are not comfortable with seeing nudity or being nude I suggest you don't come to spa castle. The locker rooms are filled with women changing and coming in and out of the nude pools. Also, the showers are like open locker room showers where you must be nude at all times. Okay, enough about nudity LOL. There's two separate lockers, one for your shoes and one for your clothes, both accessed through your watch bracelet. You get the mandatory uniform inside the locker room so after you change you can go upstairs. There are two floors of different saunas and pools, including the rooftop jacuzzis/pools. Their inside pool was nice as they had the bar inside of it, however I did not like how they allowed children to be inside that pool. If they are serving alcohol, children should not be around. The saunas have different temps, the highest we went to was about 170F which was unbearable after 10 minutes. The ice sauna was our favorite. We paid for chair massages $25 for 10 minutes. They have other full messages available at higher prices. For lunch they have different options available from fast food (i.e. Burgers, fries) to healthy foods (i.e. Salmon, fruits, soups, salad). They also have coffee, tea, smoothies, bubble tea and some pastries. I had their Spicy Ramen ($10) which was delicious but very spicy! I couldn't eat anymore after a couple of bites as my mouth got very tingly. My sister ate from the salad bar which also had hot foods $12.99/lb. My mom had a season special pumpkin soup in a bread bowl ($8.99) which was very small on portion. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would definitely return. It is the escape anybody who is stressed and over worked needs. We paid about $400 including the entrance fee. We plan on returning soon. Tip: Avoid late afternoons/evenings if you can. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Where do I even begin... From start to even after, our first experience was horrible. Walking affixing fron the parking garage we get a very strong smell of chlorine. Reception was cold and uninviting. The upstairs communal room dirty. They make us take off our shoes downstairs and while their employees walk around in street shoes. Salad bar food was either half rotten or not ripe at all. $12 for 2 pieces of soggy watermelon, a few strawberries that were half white, and a slice of papaya. My 2 year old picked up the watermelon and immediately through it back on the plate. The bathing pool area was murky and unclean inside and at 97 degrees. We resorted to going outside where at least there the water was clear but the smell of chlorine was ridiculous. I don't think they know how pool shock and chlorine work. We went to go wash off and in the men's area where all the bottles were covered in mildew and black mold. Water temp in the whole building seems to be off. Nude pools looked green. I was not going to write a review at all until this morning when my 2 year old was crying nonstop. Come to find out the we're red rashes all over her body... Never again. I remember when Sojo let you bring children in and that was a great experience there. Clean, welcoming, and best of all, my at the time 1 year old didn't come out looking like a diseased baby. On one hand, I had a great time. On the other hand, the locker room exposed penis to unexposed penis ratio was a little...skewed in one direction. So straight away, if that sentence in any way bothers you, think twice before you head here. If you don't care, good. A true Korean spa, SC delivers the epitome of a relaxing day. I'll say it - i'm not a particular fan of traditional locker room group shower experiences....buuuut this place is a big fat exception. Get over it, drop some clothes, and hit the Event bath. Then go in the 192 degree sauna. Then the cold shower. Then the event bath. Then the hot tub chairs with jets. Then cap it all off with a hot shower. Do it all without worrying about a towel - and be a better man for it. See? Aren't you already having a great time? And you haven't even left the locker room yet! Okay, now you're just hanging out. Leave the locker room. Head upstairs for floor after floor of expansive, wonderfully heated, relaxing paradise. Enjoy the 197 degree sauna followed immediately by a stint in the 39 degree freezer. Take a nap in the nap room. Have a fruit smoothie. Pay for a massage. Enjoy the indoor pool bar. Dip in the heated outdoor pool with a unique variety of jets and massaging apparati and then sit in the wood-lain hot tub that kind of smells like cedar. Facts: You will have a good time, you will leave more relaxed, and you will spend more money than you thought you would. Tips: - Get there EARLY. Valet your car and enjoy everything early. We got there at 10:30 and I wish we got there at 8:30. The crowds and kids and annoying people that treat this like an all inclusive resort pop in around 1pm. - Bulk up on the free water...and ration your swim up bar unless you're just droppin bills like it's your birthday. Drinks are pricy and gratuity is included. Plus, all you have to do is scan your wrist, so as with a cruise, you can drink and drink...but might get a little shock when you cash out. - Bring a towel and a bathing suit. This allows for maximum enjoyment - even though you have to wear your year 2500 style gray matching clothes, you still need a bathing suit for all the non-naked pool related activities. Do NOT indulge in the fruit buffet. Sure, its very nice of them to cut up watermelon slices the size of your head and pineapple the size of your arm, but at $10 or something per pound I dropped a whopping $21.00 on fruit I could have gotten for 4 bucks at the store. Yeah, it was good...but not THAT good. DO indulge in sushi, as well as a bento box (if that is your thing) from the restaurant upstairs. Prices are pretty reasonable. Admission isn't too steep, and Spa Castle promises a day full of relaxation, swimming, drinking, saunaing, and a little bit of hanging out. Literally. Just read some reviews before going here - the staff doesn't do much in the way of explaining for first timers. Oh yeah, and don't wear your shoes past the door to the locker room. Illegal. I been to this place a few years ago. But this yesterday , was my last time. The entrance was $52 on a Wednesday and only the pools are open. Sauna, steam room are closed. The do not provide uniforms anymore. They sell the towels for $13. And they used to have water fountain, not anymore. Everything is expensive and not worth paying $52 only for the facility. If I can this place a 0 I would give it a -1000. On June 1st, 2016 at approximately 9:50pm, entered the jacuzzi at Spa Castle (College Point, NY). When I stepped down on the first landing, I noticed the water was a little warmer than usual. I stepped down to the second landing, where the jet streams are, and immediately felt the skin on my ankle burning. In shock, I quickly jumped out and notified the lifeguard of the incident. The lifeguard notified Cassie who claimed to be the lifeguard on duty. Cassie told the lifeguard to give me some cream to treat the burn and wished me a good night. I informed Cassie I wanted to make an incident report and she said \"Absolutely not. Not for a little scrape." I told her my leg was burning and stinging. She tried to convince me the water couldn't possibly have burned me and that it doesn't go above 100 degrees fahrenheit OR maybe I'm allergic to the water OR maybe I scraped my leg on the concrete. Every argument she tried to make, I used rationale to cancel it. I explained the scrape would have come about from behind and not across my leg and, if I was allergic to the water, my whole body would have broken out and, if I was allergic to the water, what else is in there besides chlorine? As I rubbed the burn cream on my leg, my skin rubbed off with it. I showed Cassie and her response was there's no way possible that could happen. I asked again to file an incident report. She left and came back with receipt paper for me to write it down. I asked for an official report. She denied my request. At 10:23pm, I called 911 to have EMS clean and treat the burn due to Spa Castle's refusal to assist and document the issue. EMS treated me and I left. Spa Castle was never apologetic, they did not check up on me, and I now have to follow with my primary care physician to make sure my wound heals properly. Really enjoyed Spa Castle's amenities-- get there early to avoid the crowds. Food is very over priced so try to eat before! Caution: Be very careful while walking around. You're not allowed to wear flip-flops. I slipped in the changing area b/c a cleaner was mopping (out of sight) and did not leave a sign up. The cleaner and receptionist also just looked at me blankly as I was on the floor/ getting up. Very unprofessional staff. This is my happy place. I've easily spent a full 12 hour day here, going in and out of hot rooms and napping. After coming here for a few years I've got a nice routine: 1) ladies wear your bathing suit under your spa outfit 2) slippers are not worth the rental price but a robe is, post swim 3) buy a bottle of water and refill if through out the day 4) book any special services (massage, body scrub) as soon as you get there, they tend to fill up fast 5) I like to start in the low temp sauna rooms and work my way up in temp with breaks in the cool room between. Then I sit under the infared lights for awhile. 6) lunch upstairs - the bibimbop is delicious 7) I usually follow lunch with a foot massage 8) the outdoor pools! More times I visit here, the more I know that I won't enjoy my next time here. And I've been coming here before they built in swimming pools and all that too. Bottom line: if you want a "spa" themed theme park, come here. If you want any sort of relaxation, go else where (especially on weekends) OR come here during working weekdays before 4pm. Upside? The food here is decent. Service is decent as well. But I don't think it's good enough to pay $40 or $50 of entrance fee just for that... Watch out for: 1. people taking selfies and pictures in locker room (where you're probably fully naked, changing into your uniform), 2. people wearing sandals and crocs on the sauna floor, 3. lots of PDAs, 4. chatty and giggling teenagers, 5. half naked people in saunas, 6. obnoxiously loud people in acoustically amazing domes where you can already hear everyone's whispers from 4 feet away... It seems as if the glory days of this Spa Castle is long gone. I've had a very different experience this last time I went than when I went for the first time about 8 years ago. It's definitely not because I've tried other spas. I've always kept Spa Castle at the top and the last time I've visited was 2 years ago and it was still a bit decent. The pleasant spa smell is completely gone. All I smell is chlorine. The furniture is worn out and discolored. It was ran over with children. Trust me I LOVE children, but it isn't relaxing when they're trying to have a swim race in the pool when it's clearly a spa. The pleasantness of the employees at this establishment was nowhere to be found as I waited an uncomfortable 10 mins (yes 10 mins after I politely said "Excuse me") and was ignored at the locker counter by a worker clearly doing number work for the business. All I wanted to do was spend my money on your establishment to buy slippers, since we must be barefoot(it's not a problem to me, if it was completely sanitary) Which brings me to my next point. The rugs are disgusting and could hardly be called a rug anymore as the fibers are almost gone and are wet all the time. This mixed with no temporary slippers to enter the bathroom (yuck) give me all types of scary outcome for bacteria possibly hanging on to your feet. Spa Castle seriously needs to revamp a bit and replace these things as I don't think I'll visit for a while until I hear they have renovated. I brought a first timer in attempts for her having a good time and I feel so embarrassed. Also, the price will be going up on February 1st. Not worth it to me. It really hurts me to write a less than stellar review but this needs to be addressed Edits to add - One last thing I forgot to mention the "Valet" parking is not really Valet. It's just basically a free parking garage. It was raining and I had no umbrella so I had to run with me and my guest to the main entrance. Upon getting to spa castle (around 10:30am), we pulled into the parking lot. We were greeted by a very nice guy which took the car keys and directed us to the entrance. We went with a group of over 10, so we got 10% discount. SCORE! They gave us this wrist watch looking thing. The bracelette opens your locker and is basically a tab for all purchases you make during the day. I like the watch idea (don't have to carry around cash or credit with you). So into the locker rooms we go. Guys go left, girls go right. You get 2 lockers. The first little locker is meant for your shoes. You go in and take your shoes off and place them there. Then, you pick up a uniform at the counter (btw, they are like the ugliest thing in the world and not very comfortable either. Give me some flannel, a robe or something else as a uniform. Oh and the uniform had like pit stains on it. BARF! Now, you walk your way over to your big locker and get dressed. It looked clean at the beginning of the day, but as the day moved along, it just completely skeezed me out. In the womens locker room area, u can go naked in the suana/jacuzzi. If you leave the locker room area, it's all co-ed. Upstairs (above locker room) was salad bar, sushi station, grill area, the many suana rooms, and chairs/lounges, Headed over to the large suana room. Really nice and kept really hot. No one was in the sauna rooms at all which was awesome. Got to lay there and just chill. We then went to the salt sauna room then the ice room to cool down. I loved all the rooms. They have a gold room and a jade room as well (which I checked out later on in the day) Went to eat after about half hour to an hour in the rooms. I opted for salad bar bc other stuff weren't open yet. It was actually really good. I was surprised at how good the food is. The seaweed salad was AMAZING! And I really enjoyed the fruit they had too. Yes, it was expensive, but you kind of expect to pay that price going into places like this. Later we had more food and all of it was delicious. Shaved Ice and red bean was DELICIOUS! I want some more! After eating, we all decided to take a dip in the pools (next level up) and get massaged by the extremely strong water jets. They were amazing! You really do not need to get a massage from a real person bc these jets worked wonders. Did those for a lil bit, then went into the hot tub jacuzzi. It was nice and at the perfect temperature. I tried stepping into the suana outside, but it smelled like someone peed all over the floors that I had to leave right away. We went, got some snacks and then kinda split up and do things on our own to relax. Some went into the sleeping room, some went up another level to the bar/restaurant. I went back to the suanas. As the day went by, everything just got BAD! Place started to get beyond crowded. The people that showed up were teens or dirty looking rude people. The staff also started getting so rude! One of my girlfriends was in a robe (that she rented) and one of the staff chased her around saying he'll kick her out if she doesn't put on her uniform. DUDE, this isn't boot camp! She rented the robe bc the uniforms were beyond uncomfortable. She thought she could wear the robe around. She had a bathing suit underneath. Not like she was naked! The girl at the juice bar had earphones in while taking orders and was not very inviting at all. She ignored some people bc she couldn't hear (maybe she should take out the headphones and do her job). Locker rooms now became NAKED ZONE! Omg, i was blinded at every step. Bathrooms started getting even yuckier. Pee all over the place. Walking to my locker, ladies were scrubbing their private parts and stuff out in the complete open (not in the shower) but in front of mirrors where people were doing their hair. I don't mind the naked people, but when I say excuse me to try and get to my locker, and you bend over and put your naked butt in front of me, that's where I draw the line. I don't need ur dirty self touching me! OMG, so rude! These people do not care at all. Then I saw some people putting on the uniforms without anything underneath. OMG....WTF! I just look down at my uniform and was like "they better have run this through the washing machine in burning hot water 3x!" The pools became makeout zones. Ugh, sooo much PDA. Get a room. This isn't a love spa. I do not want to see you rubbing up on each other doing god knows what. Suana rooms became so crowded. People open the door and don't even bother closing it making the rooms lose its heat. Everything just started feeling dirty and very disgusting as the day went on. As for drinks, you are only allowed 3 drinks per watch. It's a rule they have. That was fine with me cause I don't really drink. If I go back, it'll have to be extrememly early or during the weekday bc when it gets too crowded, you aren't so relaxed anymore. read more

Spa Castle is pretty astonishingly amazing. It is the Disney World of spas. I'm not one in particular to pay for pampering, to go to hot saunas, or steam baths but when one of your more eccentric Russian friends insists that it would be a great idea and finds some kind of living social coupon for half off of a weekend day pass, why the heck not! Normally it costs $50 for a day for as long as really you desire but I don't know how anyone can pass over 8 hours in here without suffering from dehydration and boredom. Bring WATER. Though, for the duration I spent here, I was pretty entertained with the vast options provided by Spa Castle. First thing when you step in you are presented with a really odd set-up. Don't let it intimidate you. You are forced to wear these cult shirts in either pink or blue respectively for gender and some stylish shorts. You must keep your shoes in a separate locker (no shoes allowed in Spa Castle!), and your clothes in another locker further down. You are given a weird wrist watch that automatically locks your locker and reminds you of the number. This special watch also takes care of electronic purchases throughout your visit so that you don't have to carry any money on you and you pay in the end. Purchases range from a huge food bar, sushi, fro-yo, Starbucks, alcohol, massages, manicures, facials, etc. Everything is generally kind of expensive with the exception of the coffee, its the same as any New York Starbucks. On the main floor there are several sauna steam rooms with different themes that provide varying temperatures and aromas to inhale. It was more of a relaxing experience than I actually expected even though my friend was making out with his girlfriend half the time. My personal favorite is the Jade Room - Encased in beautiful green jade and smelling of an old Asian woman's home-made cooking. At least that's what I interpreted the smell of Jade to be. Also really enjoyed the Himalayan Salt room, an Ice Room, a Gold Room. The hottest room is enormous and a squelcher - The Loess. Truly intense. I could only last a few minutes in there as in my dehydrated delirium I started rambling on about the new Star Wars movie theories. Upstairs there are pools. Bring your swimsuit! You can either wear it under your special Spa Castle gear or go back and change in the locker room. Not everything was open due to the weather starting to get cold, but I enjoyed the Hinoki Bath and the body massage jet pools. There is an additional nudist colony pool down in the locker rooms - gender divided obviously. Didn't get to check that one out but I hear that its relaxing. Not sure if I believe it, lol. The best time to write a review for Spa Castle is immediately after you walk out of Spa Castle. You're feeling relaxed, calm and slightly sedated. How can anyone complain when you can walking into an establishment that has dozens of baths, pools, rooms and people to make your body feel good? I can, that's who. I won't complain too much because I really do love this place. But there are a few things I'd like to get off my chest. To be fair, I've decided to pair each negative comment with a positive one. Here we go. 1. Neg: The food at the weigh station is kinda gross. Give us more options and better quality! We're paying so much money for it anyway, at least make it appetizing. Pos: The smoothies/juices/bubble teas are much better and priced less than you'd expect based on food prices. 2. Neg: Massages here are not very good. They're similar to a massage you might get from a 4 year old. Mostly pinch and press. You're basically getting a body rub which isn't terrible, but you shouldn't go in expecting something amazing. Pos: The body scrub is very thorough. The scrubs happen in the naked part downstairs. You will be lying naked on a table that is semi exposed to the rest of the naked area while a woman in a pair of matching black underpants and bra scrubs the crap out of your entire body. Though painful, this experience is equally hilarious and amazing. You are flopping around on a waterproof table while warm water is thrown on you and a woman is scrubbing you in places that you haven't even seen on your own body. If nothing more, it's a good first date story. 3. Neg: The co-ed pools and outdoor area are a bit annoying. Typically a ton of children are splashing and yelling, lots of people are making out (I once saw a couple having sex in a pool) and the lifeguards are constantly blowing whistles for women to put their hair up. Also, I've seen a few employees taking photos of people. If you ask me, that should get them fired immediately. Pos: The naked area downstairs. I don't know about the dudes and I don't know about the straight people, but as a cis woman who is a lesbian, the naked part is my dream vacation. Most of the people down there are older women who don't give a shit who you are and what your body looks like. These are my people. If we could all walk around being comfortable in our bodies while being allowed to take care of our bodies...I mean really what is better than that? I came for a girls day and had a great time. There were some wonderful aspects and some that missed the mark. I hope you're comfortable with nudity, if not, this is not the place for you. Finding parking was difficult, so give yourself time to get a spot and walk towards the building. As soon as you get in, you receive a uniform (pink or blue) to wear in the shared areas. You get a watch that is linked to your credit card, so no need to bring your wallet or phone with you. There are plenty of sauna options and locations to get a variety of massages. Food is pricey, but there are places to eat if you plan to spend the day and get hungry. I wish there weren't soooo many kids running around. It's already crowded, so it can get annoying when kids are splashing in the jacuzzis next to you. I would return in the future, but with slightly lower expectations. read more

Today was all about me and just appreciating the wonderful gift God has given me these last 35 years. So hence the "me time" day. At first, it was a little difficult finding the new location for the shuttle bus (directions and I don't mix! ). Once we found the van, the driver was very friendly and I sat back to enjoy the ride. The line wasn't long. The staff was friendly and I was excited to see what this place had to offer. I enjoyed the pool for a bit. Had something to snack on (food was not good. Nachos tasted stale and the corn dog left much to be desired). One thing I can say, the drinks were on point! My frozen mango margarita was freaking amazing (these folks don't skimp on the alcohol!!) Now here is where I died and went to heaven! The ladies that explained the services were very personable. We laughed, joked around while completing my paperwork. I signed up for the hot stone massage. I cringed at the price but quickly said to hell with it! My masseuse, Tilden, was freaking awesome! He was very handsome and very friendly. Now his hands, the softest things I ever felt in my life! By the time he was done, I was so ready to propose just so I keep those amazing hands all to myself! OAN, go into the nude area. I did! It was totally freely and for me empowering! Overall, I had an awesome experience. I will definitely visit again. PS: just my opinion, but I don't think children should be allowed in the nude area. I was unable to just relax and unwind after my amazing massage. Children were jumping in and out of the water, parents were no where to be found. While undressing, this woman had her son (probably 4 or 5) and he just kept staring as I was undressing. That was creepy. Leave your identity at the door. It's like a prison, and you get tracked with a watch device. This device is used for all transactions around the spa, such as food, drinks, and anything that requires money, The food was great but pricey for sure. You pay after you're done with your visit at the front counter and don't even think about dipping on the bill, they have pictures up of people who left without paying ! So don't be that guy!! You get your own set of clothes, slippers and toothbrush when you arrive.. it's like a relaxing prison sentence. Now that you have your supplies.. get your butt into the locker room and avoid any awkward eye contact with the naked people around you. I enter the locker room and say to myself "Just keep your eyes on yourself or the floor, don't look around , don't look around" After you're all changed, make your way up to the common area up the stairs.. but be sure you have your uniform on. This is a common area! Body massages and such will run you another hundred or so, I did not try this since I am cheap, Ha! There are a lot of pools, individual water massage seats, hot saunas, cold saunas, even nap areas all over the place. It's like a nice little water park, but it's not as relaxing as I thought it might be. There were just too many screaming little kids and full of people who don't know how to act. This ruined the experience for me for sure. I guess girls love to relax all day and be pampered and do nothing.. but if you ask me. I was really bored after an hour or two into this. I frequent Spa Castle pretty regularly, usually with friends. It's a nice little retreat from the stress of everyday life. Nevertheless, a person's experience at Spa Castle can really vary depending on the time of day/day of the week. Weekends/holidays in the summer tend to be very hectic with a large amount of people, including children who are may be running around and splashing in the pool area. In my experience, early hours on weekdays and off-seasons, tend to be the most relaxing times. Everything is clean and the atmosphere feels much more like a spa, and less like a public pool. Also, FYI the food / extra services are pricey, and it is easy to rack up a bill due to their "swiping your watch" payment system. read more

A friend and I trooped it to Spa Castle from the city for a girl spa day! We heard about their shuttle (also stated on their Web Site) so we figured it wouldn't be THAT far or long of a wait, for that matter. No, we were wrong. It did take forever to get there....and it was even more annoying to travel that much AFTER we left. Also, shuttles were very infrequent, disorganized-- apparently grown men and women do not believe in waiting in line. I mean, if you didn't get there first, you shouldn't be the first one on the sketchy van shuttle. UH.... We went on a weekend so it was $45. Blah. Quite pricey but what the hey, it's a spa, right? Wrong. This place doesn't have a spa ambiance or vibe whatsoever. Fully supported by the ridiculous amount of kids running around the place. I get it. You're a parent. You want to bring your children places. But to a spa? Think about it. I like kids but not when I'm trying to RELAX! Inevitably their high-pitched screaming and running around annoyed the crap out of me....But what could one do? Complain to management?.. who will in turn look at me as if I were a child-hater and offer no compensation? No, thanks. My friend and I decided to splurge and book a deep tissue Swedish massage. We didn't have reservations but made one on the spot for a later time. We arrived on time to our massages and boy were we sorry! This massage was absolutely terrible. In fact, I questioned my masseuses credentials. I'm convinced she had NO idea what she was doing. So much so that the next day my body (and my friend's too) was sore and recovering from the "massage." Ridiculous.... I didn't know it was so terrible until I had a Swedish massage elsewhere and felt AMAZING. It's not suppose to hurt....the next day. I haven't been back to Spa Castle...and I don't plan on it. So it's a Korean spa and everyone was naked in the locker room and wet area. A Hispanic guy cooling off at the locker room while watching his 3 teenage children dressing up. A man in his more or less 30s and who's not even white, stood in front of him and apparently stared at the former's private part, intentionally. The hispanic guy reacted because he felt harassed in front of his children. Instead of getting an apology, he was bullied and was told by the latter that he's gonna call "immigration" and repeatedly told "why can't you go back to your country?". The Hispanic guy pleaded to the staff to get him out of the facility. Security came but didn't do anything at all.NADA.NIL. It's funny how it happen in a Korean spa where every staff are either Asian or Hispanic. I felt bad for the Hispanic guy specially to his children who experienced this kind of harassment , and an act of racial discrimination. This is definitely an emotionally traumatic to his children. I'm calling on to the management to make an apology to the family for this incident and to train staff and security personnel on how to deal with situation like this. read more

Spa Castle (SC) VS. King Sauna (KS)!!! I would give Spa Castle a 3.5 stars. LOCKER ROOMS . WOMEN ONLY AREAS and Appt Desk Review- When you walk in, you pay the entrance fee and once you walk into the women's locker room, you put your shoes away in the cubby hole and collect your uniform at the desk, which is the same desk you make an appt for scrubs and massages. Set up at King Sauna is much more efficient! They have cubby holes outside the bathing room so you can store your uniform, SC they do not have this, so you are going to your locker all the time. It is better to split up the line for uniforms and appts like KS, there were a few times I saw the line at SC for people picking up uniforms or make appts. The pools at KS and SC are about the same and nice, but SC had massaging jets seatss!! which is a big plus! The ladies who give the scrub at SC are very good at looking for you for your scrub and they even have a chalkboard, KS they dont really look for you. I do the open area spa, at SC the area is much smaller and the tables much closer together, KS it is spacious, more tables and it doesn't feel like an open area scrub. Prices will come out the same for a scrub and massage with tip. SC- tip included, KS, not included. WINNER- KS FOOD- at KS there is only korean food, SC has a buffet and a whole spread including buffet, sushi, burgers frozen yogurt, etc. WINNER- SC, sooo expensive though.... SAUNAS, BATHS, POOLS ETC- SC has outdoor and indoor pools, with massage jets etc, You have to bring a bathing suit since it is a coed area. I have no idea if the jets work or not, but it looks like a nice place for sun bathing. RELAXATION- def KS!, they have different rooms with TVs that are dark, semi dark and light with so many comfortable lounge chairs to nap and read in. I've never been to a spa before until today. How different it really is. Lets get started with parking: there is valet parking but I found parking outside on the street. At the front, you're greeted by the receptionist charging you $35 per person for a Monday. The first floor is where you can find the saunas varying in temperature. Upstairs are the indoor and outdoor pools. For some reason, I thought it was larger but it isn't that big. However, there is plenty of space to relax. Here is the part I was not expecting: you have to be complete naked to enter the pool, jacuzzi and showers in the locker rooms. I've never done that before and yes I was a bit reluctant. But in the end, it does feel liberating. Here's a tip: bring your own towel to dry yourself after the pool or else you'll have to rent one. Also, bring a bag for your wet clothes. read more
