My husband made reservations for us--which he thought was a couples massage (1 prenatal and 1 wellness massage) via the website. They call the day before to confirm your appts which I thought was very nice. When we first got there for our original appt it seemed as though it was separate rooms at different time slots. There was def miscommunication between the bookings, confirming appts, and the website. Basically if you're booking a couples massage don't use the site. It's more for single bookings in my opinion. However Bianca, was so nice--she was able to accommodate us for another date (which we were fine with) at no charge. She calmed me down a lot being that I'm 9 months pregnant. Super sweet and just went beyond. So upon arriving for our actual appts--Bianca greeted us right away. Took our coats and we were led upstairs within 5 mins. They offered tea or water. They provided us robes/slippers and our own little cubby with a lock and key. We waited maybe 5 more mins after we got dressed --then we got taken upstairs. Very calming inside for sure. Andrew was superb! The best. Abs book with him. He was great. For a prenatal massage I felt amazing afterwards. He informed me that there will be times he's going to ask about guidance specifically the hips since that's where I'm bothered the most being that pregnant people can really only sleep on their sides. Just an amazing massage! Get the lavender scent--it's soooo good. My husband had Holly and she was super nice. He said he loved his first massage ever. She was great. She asked him any pain/problem areas. Glad to say my husband is into spas now lol. The massages and staff definitely made up for the miscommunication that happened in the beginning and happy that we didn't end up cancelling it. Def worth it. Price was under $300. Plus Bianca gifted me a complimentary body scrub which was so nice of her. She's really great. Holly, Andrew and Bianca were amazing! One star off for the website (maybe it needs to be more specific about certain services-- at least for users who's never been to a spa). Def worth a visit. GREEN SPA is the BEST spa in all of Brooklyn! They offer so many wellness services and the massage I received was the best I've ever had!! The feng shui and atmosphere is unmatched. They make their own products from scratch, which are all non toxic. They constantly are giving back to the community, do wellness events for schools/teachers and even different classes to try different services to see which one you like. I highly recommend! I plan on going back for a massage at least 2-3 a month to continue working out extreme amount of pain I've been in, which resolved after my massage. 3rd ave also has nice restaurant's close by so I'm looking forward to a spa day and then a day night with my partner read more

I have a gift certificate from 2011 with NO expiration date. Lady on the phone said they expire in 5 years and it's written all over their website , PSA: it's NOT written anywhere on their website as well as my gift certificate does not have an expiration date on it , the space for a date to be inserted is BLANK. 400$ given to that place years ago down the garbage. Also the lady on the phone said they could honor it and when i asked her would she honor it she answered with "they expire in 5 years" so obviously having no intentions of honoring it. I have had lots of massages & I eventually tried Green Spa. The experience was initially good--not very good--but it's conveniently located to me which made up for any issues. The staff was unremarkable. I would characterize the front desk as aloof, tense, defensive & flippant about clients' concerns, & vaguely suspicious. But there had been a great manager named Mae who was friendly, welcoming, & knowledgeable. Mae sold me a 10-pack of medical massages, & I had varying degrees of success with them over their course. The massage therapists ranged from OK to good. Most of them did not go hard enough on me but some did. One of the issues with Green Spa is that if you like a massage therapist's technique & want to book them again, it is difficult. There is turnover & they are gone forever, or they are unavailable. Frequently I would offer 6 or 7 days & times & the front desk would tell me that the therapist was unavailable. Also, more times than one I have arrived at Green Spa & have been told that the therapist I booked was not there. It's hard to build rapport with a therapist when you don't see them more than once. There was 1 therapist I had massages with 4 times but each time she had the table heated & each time I had to ask her to turn it off. This is the kind of detail that a good therapist would keep notes on. The process at Green Spa is inconsistent. 2 or 3 times I was brought to the 2nd floor waiting room & was told to help myself to a Buddhist offering. I could take it or leave it but it's a nice way of keeping people focused. I was told the wishes would be burned but I tend to believe they were thrown in the trash...or that years of client wishes are still sitting in the container. They had water available in that waiting room, which was nice. Other times I was brought to the waiting room & not given the spiel on the Buddhist ritual--or to the bench at the bottom of the stairs or to a swivel chair near the register. The massage rooms are acceptable. The couples massage room on the 3rd floor is the best since it is quietest. In the rooms on the 2nd floor, you hear--& feel the thumping of--the staff running up & down the stairs & across the floors. It is very unrelaxing. The massages varied with different massage therapists. Most of them were decent although there was always an awkward dynamic with the therapists. They were almost universally guarded & stiff which is to be expected when they do not know a client--which is precisely why I like repeat visits to build a rapport with the same therapist. The bathrooms are clean. You need to be patient when checking out because the front desk staff is often challenged by basic tasks, like answering the telephone & collecting payment. They also chidingly reminded me that tips are not in the fee. This is from staff that is interacting with me every 4 to 6 weeks over the course of many massages: I don't need to be reminded to tip. After my 6th massage, Mae asked me what I did for a living, & I told her I worked for a surgeon. She knew of the surgeon since Green Spa offers oncology massage. Mae soon introduced me to Maureen, the owner, presumably to begin building a professional relationship with me so I would make patient referrals to Green Spa. That was fine with me except Maureen not only did not thank me for being a client, but she was expressionless, did not make eye contact with me, did not shake my hand, did not move from the other side of the register, & was generally indifferent. Every time I returned to Green Spa & saw Maureen, she was glued behind the cash register, shuffling through the receipts & adding numbers as if she were attempting to will them into profitability. She never once acknowledged me. Even though I was thrilled with neither her nor the front desk staff, I was there for the treatments--plus Mae was great. When I was on my 9th massage, Mae asked me to buy another 10-pack of medical massages, & I did. Not long after was the Covid-19 shutdown. I went back after they reopened & completing that last 10-pack was a chore. For starters, there was some complication Green Spa created for itself by not honoring my medical massages. I don't recall the details, but they offered me a choice of either fewer sessions I was due or another type of massage. Both options were to my disadvantage & not what I had paid for, but I wasn't going to argue because I just wanted to be done. Mae was no longer with Green Spa & that had an impact on the environment at Green Spa. The cheery vibe she had provided was replaced by tension & joylessness. My goal became about completing my 10-pack as opposed to enjoying therapeutic massage. I saw Maureen there a few times & she never said a word to me or looked in my direction. The staff did not even ask me if I wanted to buy another 10-pack. I will overlook issues & spend money if I feel that my presence is appreciated & valued. Green Spa, & I am relieved I no longer go there. read more

Pricey, but worth it. The Green Spa is quite small and unassuming from the outside but don't let that fool you! They have multiple floors which include a locker room, relaxation room, small event space, showers, and of course, multiple massage rooms. They also offer medical massage which is pretty cool. I have had a couple of massages and body treatments here, all of which have been relaxing and well worth the money. I found that there are some cheaper places in Brooklyn and NYC, but none have been better than Green Spa. My next order of business is trying a facial treatment once spa restrictions ease up. You'll need to book your appointment in advance especially if you are looking for a weekend date. I recommend booking over the phone for couples' massages or group appointments with friends. read more

I made an appointment and they asked for me to come in 1/2 hr earlier, I accommodated them and ran 10 minutes late due to a dr. Made an appointment two weeks in advance and was able to get the time and date we wanted. As a new customer, if you choose a treatment over $105, you get complimentary Swiss steam shower free. The outside of the place looks a bit rundown but, inside was nice and vintage. Green spa has 3 levels inside an apartment building. First floor - check in, products to buy (little shop) Second floor - massage rooms, lounge area. Third floor - steam Swiss shower and treatment rooms. Lounge area - small, dark and old looking. Doesn't look too relaxing while waiting for our treatments. Steam Swiss shower - it was a mini bathroom with a standing shower and steam. Total time in there was about 30min. Only one person can do this treatment at a time. You are brought into the steam and provide you with some exfoliating scrubs while you steam. They check up on you every 10min and after 20min is up, the lady comes in to turn on the shower for you to rinse off. Overall, it's pretty nice and relaxing but, it would be better if they have steam and shower separated. Therefore, friends can enjoy steaming together and not have to wait till the next person to be done before it's their turn for their treatment. 90 min wellness massage - I was brought into the room and filled out a form asking where they should focus on more. I told her about my shoulder pain and she tried to massage it more but, feel like the massage was more rubbing and touching than an actual massage. She seems young so, probably new to being a massage therapist. After the 90min massage, I felt like I didn't get an massage. Didn't hit the spot for me. When checking out, they charged us for the complimentary Swiss shower and we had to mention it to them before they took it off the bill. People were very nice and friendly but, Not sure if I would return as the massage did not impress me or my friend. read more

This place is heaven!!!!. I've been to a few places here and there within Bay Ridge and Green Spa is hands down the best for massages. You get what you pay for here and your experience begins right when you enter. The atmosphere is so zen and peaceful, and everyone is super welcoming. I booked a deep tissue massage for 90 minutes with Angie and I wish it had been longer! She freaking rocks. I've had really bad pain in my neck and shoulders and she really worked with me to get the knots out.. My favorite part, She didn't mess around when I asked for deep tissue! It felt amazing. Exceptional spa. I normally hit the high end spas in the city but I had no time and thought I'd "compromise". Ummmmm this is no compromise- Green Spa is really amazing. First of all, it has a soul; The place is very clean and professional but not a clinically sterile place. The people are knowledgeable, genuinely nice (no fake smiles). The products they carry seem to be really nice. I purchased a great moisturizer and look forward to checking out more. I also want to point out they carry a lot of French products (the French can't be beat regarding skincare) and they have a lot of organic and vegan products and services which is not easy to find. Most important, The services were stellar. I'm super paranoid about anything to do with my face. The henna eyebrows and the eyelash tints were SPOT ON in terms of quality of product. The cosmetologist, Rina, is amazing. She knows how to shape an eyebrow like no other. I'm a convert and I'll be coming again and again. Looking forward to trying lots of new services. A solid 4 stars! Great spa and wellness location. I don't live in or near Bay Ridge (I'm about 30 minutes out) but I won a free Swedish massage from my job with car service there so it was no biggie. I was excited because this massage could not have come at a better time! I had just been stressed out from work and just finished my last stressful class of Grad school. Woohoo! So a great massage was highly needed. Green Spa is located in a very nice area that is easily accessible and has a lot of shops and eateries nearby so it's convenient to grab a bite to eat after getting rubbed down and de-stressed. We were a bit early for our massage so we were seated in a quiet relaxing area and offered mimosas, tea, or water while we waited. Loved that! Then we were given a key, robe and slippers to change into and then seated in another waiting area with comfy couches and cozy atmosphere. It was a busy day so we waited about 30 more minutes passed our appointment time. The staff is so friendly and made us feel very comfortable. My masseuse was Shani. She was wonderful! She applied just enough pressure so that I felt the knots being soothed out. And she did very little talking which is my cup of tea. The Swedish massage was $95 and well worth it. The staff is attentive and the environment is calming. Perfect place for a couple hours of relaxation and wellness. They also have speciality treatments like a fire and ice facial and massage. I have gotten my nails done at many places over the past 10+ years. The Green Spa is by far the best place I've been to. If you are in search of a great mani/pedi where you can actually relax, be comfortable and trust that the equipment/tools, soaking tub, etc. are clean, then this is the place for you. They use all natural and vegan products, the scrub they use is incredible (get the chocolate one). Lori is my personal favorite, she is an excellent aesthetician and incredibly meticulous. She is currently nursing my nails back to healthy after years of damage from low quality products and gel manicures. If you are looking for a great facial, this is also my go to place. Reina is incredible. I've struggled with acne for years, and recently had difficulty with hormonal acne. After two facials, she has cleared my skin. I high recommend Reina, she is methodical, has over 20 years experience and gives a facial that is comparable to a dermatologist. read more

I ended up at this place after trying to find the spa my friend took me to from Groupon. The names were similar and I did not realize it was a different place until I parked. I'd already made the appointment and felt bad canceling so I still went. I am so happy I did! Upon entering, I was escorted to the waiting room where I filled out a few forms. I was late but they were very patient and gave me some of the best tasting herbal tea I've ever tasted while I waited. Once I finished the forms, I was escorted upstairs and given a locker and a robe to change into. The masseur was very patient and vocal about everything she was planning to do before doing it. The music was very soothing and she listened to my body spending extra time on the knots by my shoulders. She was sure to give every part of my body an even amount of time (felt like more than an hour). I appreciated her not being pressed for time. Once we were done, she spent some time explaining my problem areas and sharing her recommendations. I was then escorted to another waiting room where I was able to drink tea and relax a bit more before I left. Once I changed and checked out, I was told I would be given a free makeover. The lady doing my makeup was nice but did seem a bit inexperienced asking her colleague what to use. I was surprised she did my entire face! I liked the outcome but I ended up taking off the makeup once I got home because it was transferring to my hands and clothing. I wouldn't recommend that brand. His technique is different but just as effective; Deep tissue and he has a knack for finding and releasing all those pesky knots. He finishes off with some stretching! Perfect. It's tough for me to write a negative review but when 2 of 3 experiences with a business are bad, it must be shared, in hopes that they'll improve. I had my eyebrows done here twice, the first time they were done perfectly, she kept them masculine but cleaned them up. Unfortunately the second time I was given a different esthetician, and it was like an episode of when wax attacks. My fiancé had a nice laugh for a couple of weeks until they grew in, but that was the only benefit from the 2nd visit. My 3rd experience was when I called to see if I could schedule a facial (for wifey) for the next day, the receptionist told me they're busy but will see what she can do to fit us in, she took my number and said she'd call me back. She never called. I called again as it was getting late and we needed to schedule (here or elsewhere) and when I told her who I was, she apologized and said "I have your number right in front of me" and again said she'd check into it and call me back. Again she never called me. Just tell me you can't do it on such short notice and it's fine, but don't tell me you'll call and not do it, that's bad when dating or in business. My daughter took me to this spa for a facial, it was the best spa experience I have ever had! Rina did my facial and she was truly amazing and professional. I have traveled on business to places that specialize in Spa treatments and this is by far my favorite facial. She massaged my shoulders and feet while waiting for my mask to set. Beware! Do not get eyebrows waxed here! I booked an appointment recently for an eye brow waxing - Full disclosure - I usually get my brows done by my friend who is an esthetician but she was away at the time. I figured I was safe going to an upscale spa and that their estheticians knew what they were doing. How wrong I was. I told the esthetician beforehand that I do not want thin brows, just to clean them up. She didn't listen. And not only that, they were completely uneven. My one side looked like I had nothing left. Additionally, she did didn't even do a good job cleaning them up and did not pluck any of the stray hairs. Lastly, her mannerisms were completely unacceptable. She pushed my head hard from side to side, over and over again (I am assuming she realized the mistake she made and tried to make them even instead completely butchered them). She also had the nerve to ask me how much my designer bag cost. I left in tears. Spoke with a supervisor who asked me to send photos of my eyebrows and no one ever responded to the two emails I sent. read more

I will so not be going back! I have been there twice and have been charged a lot more than expected. They up-sale and give you add ons without telling you and if they do tell you it's an add on; they have a tricky way about telling you the price! They are super SNEAKY! They do OK work, but not worth the rip off! I went for a Brazilian. I left paying $90. How did that happen. I don't know. They gave some bullshit excuse, saying that it took long, extra hair and etc.... what-eves that has never happen to me at other places. My second time there, I went for a facial. I went for a $85 facial, the Organic Express. Left paying $250!?!? They told me that a microdermobrasion was only $15 more, while she was up-selling. I thought great. It was actually $125 more! Talk about sneaky. Then when I went to pay they said $250 =, I almost fainted. I have never paid that much for a facial, not even at the doctor office. They said it was $15 dollars more than the peel, "what peel,but I never talked about or scheduled a peel. I came in for the regular $85 facial". read more

It's pretty funny that the tagline for a 2-star rating is 'Meh. I've experienced better', because that it almost exact to the word of how I explained my experience yesterday. Taking advantage of their spa-week special, I booked a 45 minute massage. When I made the appointment, I asked about using their steam-room facilities if I arrived a few minutes early. I was surprised to hear that this would be an additional $25 and was only available as a full package with body scrub and shower. Most spas I've visited have a general steam where you can spend a few minutes warming up your muscles and doing some deep breathing. I was surprised to find that The Green Spa, given their rates, did not offer this as a basic amenity. Upon arriving the reception desk was pretty crowded and the woman tending to the incoming and departing clients did so with grace. She was super courteous and very helpful all around. I was offered hot-tea or water and asked to have a seat in the 'waiting' area. This area is nothing more than a very small vestibule with some clever decoration. The seating provided is 2 chairs and a super-uncomfortable bench. The helpful receptionist brought in a serving of hot tea - and I waited for my masseuse, Tara, to call me. I specifically requested Tara. During the 3rd Avenue feast, The Green Spa had a tent outside where you could get chair massages for $1 per minute. I went for the 10 minute treatment and she did a great job. Once again, Tara delivered. Her massage techniques are great and she is very conscious of her clients comfort. It's a shame she is stuck working here because I think her level of customer service far exceeds the venue. Once Tara picked me up, I was taken upstairs to the 'lounge' area where I was able to lock up my belongings. Their lockers are very nice to look at but not very practical in that there are numerous lockers all of which have the same aesthetic but lack any identifying marks (like a # or name that matches up w/ key). For this reason, when it was time for me to fetch my items from the locker, I tried 3 locks before finding the one that fit my key. Tara asked that after I lock my items up, I have a seat in the lounge and wait for her to prep the room. - At no point was I given a robe, or slippers etc, which I find to be a standard service at most spas?? The lounge consists of a few chairs - some wine glasses, a pitcher of water with lemon - and 2 automatic dry-goods dispensers that you often find on sale in catalogs like 'Harriet Carter'. One dispenser had a typical trail mix and the other had a dry nut mix. Small bathroom cups ( 80's babies: think childhood, tooth brushing type cups that hung on your wall in a dispenser) were provided for you to place your dry-goods in. - Strewn about the lounge space were used glasses - their owners no where in sight. All the while, spa-staff stood around waiting for clients to use the lavatory etc. How about a quick clean-up?! Tara escorted me to the couples room. At first I thought perhaps this spa did semi-private massages. That would have really surprised me but it turned out Tara just wanted to have the large room - I wasn't complaining. I disrobed and settled onto the table. The massage itself, like I mentioned earlier, was great. Tara has a good handle on massage techniques and she is very communicative throughout the entire process. She listens to your body, never stretching you too hard or applying to much pressure. The room did get pretty cold at one point but I opted to not complain about it and just readjusted myself under the blanket to warm up. One we finished up, Tara waited outside of the room for me. She walked me down stairs, but not before collecting all of the oils from the room in a very unorganized manner. Granted, I was the last appointment of the evening but clean-up and such should really be saved for once your clients have departed, IMO. The front desk staff was once again very pleasant - wishing me a fond farewell. All in all - if it wasn't for the pleasant demeanor of the front desk receptionist coupled with the strong massage techniques and careful attention to detail that Tara displayed, my review of this spa would've come in a star less. I would expect unwashed glasses and messy trail mix at a $40 per hour massage joint, not at an established spa such as this. read more

I'm mixed on my review of this place. The massage I got was awesome and worked out all the kinks. Gene was great, and did an awesome deep tissue massage. The place, though... Look, I'm no special snowflake. However, I was there by myself and a bachelorette party was there for massages and makeup before me. They'd obviously been there almost all day. The entrance was crowded with them hanging out, chatting and getting their makeup done. I waited a short time for my masseuse to be ready, and he took me upstairs and we started the massage. Halfway through, as I'm still lying on my stomach, someone starts throwing boxes around and sounds like hammering in the next room. It went on for several minutes, 10-second spurts of hammering. I tried to drown it out. The massage went on. The girls from the bachelorette party, in the meantime, were running up and down the stairs, not minding their manners (come on, who shouts in a spa), and it was quite annoying. After my massage, I told the woman behind the counter about how loud it was upstairs, and she looked shocked, said the banging must have been the building next door, and apologized. The bachelorette party were standing in the way of everyone, taking pictures and selfies, not noticing that they were blocking access to the front desk. And nobody at the spa asked them to move or try to quiet them down. So...if you're going to get a massage here, don't expect the quiet, hushed tone of most spas. I already love the green spa for the massages and eyebrow treatments I've tried there. I was lucky enough to meet Tim, who preformed hypnosis on me. It was a great experience that helped me gain focus on my personal goals. Tim was calming, insightful and helped me understand myself more. I look forward to meeting with him again. read more

I was given a gift certificate for $100 to the GreenSpa so decided to use it on a deep tissue massage. Booking was easy and they had next-day appointments. Overall, a very positive experience, but one I probably wouldn't do again unless I had a certificate. When I arrived a half hour early, the front desk staff were very friendly and arranged for my masseuse to see me right away, but first gave me some lovely hot tea. The waiting area was comfortable and relaxing--very new agey with plush seats and a huge selection of facial/bath/ relaxation/makeup products. My masseuse, Shabad (Sp?) (Johnson) was pleasant and helped me with my heavy bags to the upstairs massage room. It is a lovely room with panpipe music--you rest your body on a velvet-like table and are covered with a velvetine sheet. Shabad really put everything into the massage, working deeply into the tissues from head to toe. Very relaxing voice and strong hands. If you like DEEP tissue, you'll love it. My one complaint is that I specifically and multiple times said and wrote on my intake form that I needed work done on my legs because I'm a long distance runner, but he spent about 90% of the time on my back and upperbody. So even though I enjoyed the massage, if I need massage "therapy" I'd want someone who addresses my specific issues. Recommendad spa! read more

I normally don't write reviews and especially negative ones. But I must share my experience. My tech was a nice lady however the experience she provided me with was not relaxing at all. She didn't have music playing in the room and so I heard every time she opened the drawers, washed stuff in the sink, and she left the room and came back three times during my treatment. She also insisted on showing me the pus that she removed from my pimples and pores (I found that frustrating because it's not relaxing, and she kept showing me after almost every extraction) On top of it, when she examine my skin she didn't give me any feedback on what my skin looks likes or needed. She just asked me if I wanted to upgrade, after I asked her what it was she told me it was a peel and that it was what she recommended for me. The peel turned out to be an extra $78 dollars! So the facial without gratuity was $231 in total! The facial felt like a normal facial with some extractions and a peel. I don't mind paying for good service but it was definitely not worth that much especially because the ambiance in the room was not relaxing whatsoever, I feel like I got ripped off. The spa itself was nice looking and my skin is super soft after the treatment. But I will not go back there again or recommend anyone to go. My husband and I have been coming to The Green Spa for a number of years now, and can't speak highly enough about it. I can practically feel the stress melt away the minute I walk in the door here, and I only wish I had extra money to come here once a week forever. I mostly go in for massage, though I've done a few soaks (LOVE the clawfoot tub) and have done a scrub and a body wrap (as part of the Melt package, which was fabulous). Unfortunately, I never remember the names of my masseuses, but they've all been great so far. Elizabeth was the last person I saw for hot stone, and I left feeling better than I had in weeks. What brought me into The Green Spa in the first place was their use of cruelty-free and vegan products (I haven't had one, but they do offer vegan manicure and pedicure, and as a strict cruelty-free product user, that makes me very happy). I really, really appreciate coming in and knowing I can enjoy a spa experience that coincides with my values. The space is beautiful and I love the little waiting room upstairs, where you can enjoy infused water, tea, or wine before, in-between, or after services, along with some snacks. Love everything about The Green Spa - it's truly been worth every penny. read more
