I've been a loyal Spa Castle customer from day one, even during the times they closed for renovations. I've always supported this place and truly wanted it to continue being great. Last Wednesday, we visited from around 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM (they close at 9:30 PM), so we were mindful not to rush them or their closing shift. Overall, the spa experience itself was good. The facilities were fine, and the food was absolutely chef's kiss as always -- that part never disappoints. I also understand that prices have gone up, and while Spa Castle is now priced similarly to SoJo Spa, I didn't mind paying more since everything else in life has also gone up. However, the experience was completely ruined at the very end. When we were about to leave, we realized there were no hair dryers at all -- not even one. Yes, you read that right: a spa with NO hair dryers. I asked the three ladies at the front desk if there were any hair dryers available, and they told me, "We don't have any. Customers steal them." I was shocked. That is not the customer's responsibility -- it's the spa's responsibility to manage and replace basic amenities. A hair dryer is a basic service at any spa, especially in winter, when it's cold outside and people cannot walk out with wet hair. When we went to check out, a male and a female staff member were at the counter. The man asked how our experience was, and I honestly said everything was fine except for the fact that there were no hair dryers, which was very disappointing. He looked at the female staff member, and she said, "We do have one hair dryer. Did you ask them?" I told her yes -- we asked twice, and three employees told us there were none. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, her tone was rude and dismissive. There was no effort to resolve the issue or even acknowledge how uncomfortable and unfair that situation was. No spa should send guests out into the cold with wet hair after they paid full price for the experience. Sadly, the lack of basic amenities and the unprofessional attitude at the front desk completely ruined what could have been a great visit. I was very disappointed, especially as someone who has supported Spa Castle for years. At this point, I would rather go to King Spa or SoJo Spa, where customer service and basic spa standards are taken seriously. Very upsetting experience, and sadly, I don't think I'll be returning.

I want to preface this by saying that I came here with my mom on Mother's Day so my hope is that this place is better on less busy days. It was so crowded that none of the hydrotherapy massages were open. There was a wait for everything from the pools to the saunas. Once i finally got a place at a hydrotherapy massage the jets were so strong it nearly blew me out of the water quite literally. Think a shiatsu massage but with water pounding your back. I mean if that's what you are looking for then power to you. To be fair some of the other hydrotherapy seats were gentler. When I saw that this place would be kid friendly I really underestimated just how many kids would be there. It felt like a water park with hot water. As if water parks could get any more disgusting! In keeping with its water park motif, the floors were so dirty with cups and bandaids littering the area around the pool. They didn't have enough slippers so they just gave me one that was 2 sizes too small. I guess it didn't matter anyway because someone ended up stealing my slippers. Plus there was hair floating around in the pool. The saunas were okay but so crowded and did not seem very clean. The food was mediocre. I ordered a dolsot bibimbap and they used the wrong type of rice which was undercooked and they barely gave you any meat. I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because my mom and I did not let this ruin our day. We had a good laugh about it afterwards and it certainly was a memorable Mother's Day. We had fun but was it worth $110 per person?

I have to say for my first time at the spa place I had a good time with my friends. I always heard bad stories about this location, so I never tried it, but my friend was like she never experienced bad things there and when she goes it usually during the week when there's not a lot of people and that's what we did and we were able to enjoy every part of the location. Everybody was nice and polite. Everybody was friendly. The drinks were good. The food was good. The ambience was good. Everything about it was good. We were there from morning to close that's how much fun and comfortable. We were being there and relaxed. I will definitely will be going again. So don't go by the bad publicity or bad information you get from people try for yourself to find out how the location is.

This is my first time at Spa Castle so I can't comment on the facility and changes pre renovation. We decided to take advantage of the spa on veterans day, which was a Monday since the weather was fairly warm for fall. I was dreading to see the place packed with kids since school was out, but was pleasantly surprised. The spa was fairly empty and had so many open spaces to eat, sit, and lounge. The locker room was clean and spacious. They provided 2 towels and a robe to be returned unless you want to pay a $35 fee. I started my day exploring all the amenities from top to bottom and was impressed by the nice decor and variety of hydrotherapy jets in the pools. The outdoor deck had 2 large outdoor pools, 2 hot tubs and a dry sauna in the middle. I enjoyed trying all the massage jets and soaking in the hot tub. The main floor had about 5 dry saunas but the most impressive one was the Himalayan salt sauna. It had lit pink walls and tall mirror ceilings, perfect for selfies. It also felt like the warmest room out of the bunch. Other sauna offerings were jade, color therapy, ice, gold, Halotherapy, and infrared. Though we did not eat at Spa Castle, there were two dining options and their prices were not terrible. I think the new admission prices ($110 for adult weekends) have reduced the amount of spa goers, keeping the place clean and spacious. I spent about 6 hours here and could have stayed longer. It was truly a relaxing and therapeutic experience that I recommend. My one complaint is the price of the Korean body scrub for $95, which is almost the price of admission.

I finally returned to Spa Castle after 16 year and it was a fantastic experience. I don't quite remember much from my last visit, I distinctly recall having a great time, and this visit didn't disappoint. We arrived on a Saturday at 10:30 AM, which is pretty soon after their 10am opening, and were pleasantly surprised to find it not crowded at all. I mainly came to test the place before planning a girls spa day for December. Therefore we decided to take full advantage of the facilities trying everything... every floor, every sauna room, steam room, relaxing chairs, pools etc. Overall, we loved the experience, although we did notice that only one sauna was truly hot; the others could have been warmer. I thoroughly enjoyed the steam room in the bath area - you really break a sweat there. I also wanted to address some of the reviews I'd read before going: Contrary to what some ppl claimed, we found that the spa provided everything we needed: robes, towels, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion. I can't believe I paid attention to these reviews and packed unnecessary items like shampoo, conditioner, and slippers and body lotion. And the food was priced FAIRLY. What do guy guys want? A dollar tree meal Did they even go to the lookout floor (level 4) ... we found it to be great, with prices for food that felt appropriate for a spa setting. Overall, our day at Spa Castle was great and I will definitely go ahead to plan a girls spa day for my friend's birthday in December

One of my favorite places to unwind. It is especially nice in the winter with the outdoor heated pool. I find it is always clean and the locker rooms/bathrooms are well maintained. I cannot speak for the food but drink options (non-alcoholic) are good. It can get particularly busy during the weekends but it is perfect on an early weekday.

We appreciated the different sauna rooms The heat helped with sinus and stress tension The dinner we had was a solid 6/10, it was a little low on salt and flavor but overall we enjoyed most of it. The ambiance is pretty relaxing and everyone is in their own zone. We came on a week day Tuesday evening and it was perfect and almost empty which was great and quiet Service was also good and informative

Ok, after years of wanting to try this place out, I MADE IT! Firstly, I took an uber here from the train. Spa Castle no longer provides the shuttle to Main St. There seemed to be some parking around the area, but only street parking so I suggest getting in early. As soon as I turned the corner, there was a line, but not out of the door so I was thankful. SN: I just travelled an 1hr and 1/2 from Brooklyn to get here, so nothing was turning me away. The line took around 15 minutes. $50 for weekdays and there is no time limit. I was given (1) tiny little hand towel and a watch. I went to the lockers, which sync with the watchs given. The watch number is your locker number. Pretty easy to use once you find your number. Most people have flip flops, so I would suggest that.(It really should be no shoes all together but it makes sense to have flip flops, the place has many floors). By the lockers, was the first pool room I saw. I honestly didn't even notice it was nude only. Like 6/7 different types of pools ranging from hot to cold. I was in there for awhile but then I was asked to leave because I was not nude. I told them I may come back later. Around the corner was a sauna, but way too hot for my liking. I popped my head in and out. I walked up the 2nd floor, which I immediately skipped because I wanted to see the rooftop! The 3rd floor has 3 sections outside, the kiddie zone and 2 outside pool areas with jets, showers and seats. Inside has two sides separated by a snack/food bar. Most people were getting ice cream or frozen drinks. The rooftop was nice, and is maybe on a school day it would of been more relaxing. A lot of families with their kids, kids splashing all over the place like its a water park. I also felt is wasn't that hygienic after awhile. Some jets worked and some did not. I was pretty much 50/50. I stayed up there for about an hr and a half. Moving around trying to stay in the shape when possible. After, I went back down to the 2nd second floor. This floor had a food shop. People were sitting around eating. On the side is mineral saunas and infrared red light area. Overall, It was worth the $50 dollar. I will definitely try them another time. Suggestions: Bring a towel and flip flops. Get there early. Come on a weekday.

I took a friend to this spa for their birthday. It was outrageously expensive for a facility that has kids playing everywhere. Robes, slippers, etc weren't provided. We got a massage and it was so rough and not at all relaxing although we asked for less pressure. The pool was packed! But the saunas were empty. I don't think I'd go back. It was a nice thing to do once.

After hearing and seeing Spa Castle went through new renovations, I had to check it out. I actually never experienced it before the renovations, but I think I got a glimpse of it at the check-in area. But past that, everything seemed clean and sleek. Especially outside, the construction was heavily inspired by Greece, and made everything feel so serene and grand, with plenty of hydrotherapy amenities. There were quite a number of lifeguards around for the small space. Not very relaxing in that sense. I personally loved the sauna rooms here more. They offer color therapy and infrared saunas, which I haven't seen elsewhere. The food is the worst spa food I've tried. There isn't enough variety too. The Humming Bird smoothie though, got me wanting to make it for my own from how delicious it was. It's a shame the food and game rentals closes shop way earlier than their actual 9:30 (really 9PM) closing time. Don't expect much coming here past 6PM. The service was also pretty dreadful. Make sure to check Groupon for admission deals! For a one time experience at $139 for 2 on a weekend, I enjoyed my spa day here, especially given its price and convenience of being in the city.

They close even earlier now. I managed to get here early (before 12p) and stood until close (9:30p). Nothings really changed other than they have lifeguards now (why...). These LG can bring their cellphones into the soak area... where guests are nude... NOT OK! The place is still filthy even though they were closed for "renovations" after covid. The soaking pools have so much grime and crap in them (I pulled what appeared to be a piece of wire from a brillo out the water). No photo because phones are not and should not be allowed. Although they appear to test the water for contaminants they do not appear to drain the waters after closing and actually clean the pools (feels like grainy stuff on the bottoms.) I don't not recommend picking at it because ya might vomit from what you find. This was definitely the last time I'd be here. Cleanliness is the same (gross). Only common areas, such as hallway floors, are constantly cleaned not communal areas, such as saunas and soaking waters. Loudness is the same in quiet areas. From about 5 hrs or more one sauna room (gold) was jam packed with a group bogarting the room and chatting up a storm. People talking with outdoor voices, opening and closing sauna doors never to enter. Some opened the doors to step in and yell for their friends to come in only to step out again (still loudly talking)... Food was not good at all, bland, oily and a disgrace to Korean cuisine. Waters and saunas are not as hot as they were (everything is warm or just comfortable). None of the clocks work which can be a bit dangerous in the wet saunas. Overall I'm just lucky and glad the times I've come were with discounts and I never left with infections. Oh and those ladies know how to give exceptional scrubs and need to be given all the money :)

I admit...I'm a total prude. I don't particularly like to see other people naked except in a bedroom or a computer screen (once in a while...ok more than once in a while). When my friends said we were going to this Korean dayspa complex in Queens that was written up in the new york times, I was excited. I got a full body scrub in Ktown 2 years ago and felt great afterwards. We took the 7 train all the way to end and hopped onto the shuttle bus. My excitement dipped just a bit when I learned that we would all have to get naked to use the hot tubs and saunas adjacent to the locker room. I had just met these friends recently so I was a bit wary of elevating our friendship in this particular way. We sucked in our stomachs, disrobed, and let it all hang out. The first 10 minutes was a bit weird but by the end of the day, it almost became second nature. I really liked the saunas and hot tubs adjacent to the locker rooms. The co-ed saunas on the 2nd level were nice but with so many people and kids running in and out of them, it was hard to unwind. The themed saunas (gold, mineral, salt) were kitchy but fun. No cash is required in the spa. As you walk in, you are given a wristband that opens your own locker and allows you to run up a tab. I got a full body scrub ($50 additional) which was a bit harsh but my elbows have never felt so smooth!! All of us were marveling at how smooth and shiny our skin looked. I highly recommend bypassing the deli food on the 2nd level and going up to the Korean restaurant at top. It's not super expensive and it's decent Korean food. I didn't particularly care for the public pools because of the crowds. If I can avoid chlorine, I'm happy. The pools adjacent to the locker room are not chlorinated, I believe. I'm not sure how these baths are in Korea but it felt like it wasn't too dumbed down for American tastes. I appreciate integrity and the chance to experience something different. The recap: 1. Get ready to see a lot of dick (or vag) in 1 day. Even for a gay man, it was a lot. 2. Get the full body scrub...your skin will be amazing afterwards provided you still have some. 3. Go on a weekday if you can, it was definitely a bit crowded on the Sat. I was there. 4. Leave the magazines, ipods, and other distractions at home...this day was a great way to leave all that behind and just zone out. read more

First off, let me say that Spa castle isn't the best. It's a nice place to go if you want an affordable spa experience but don't mind poor quality. I suggest going there in the morning on a weekday. It's not crowded and you actually can try to enjoy the place. I had no real issue with spa castle until recently. I went on 2/28/18 for a solo spa day. When I went to pay, I was told that they did not accept American Express. Since I had no other card on me, I used my debit card. WRONG MOVE. A few days later, someone racks up $90+ on my card. All charges were made in Queens. I live in the Bronx and only went to Queens this one time (for spa castle). This is unacceptable. I won't be going here again. read more
Nothing has ever completely flipped my paradigm for a genre the way Spa Castle did. I am not a spa guy, so spa veterans, take my review with a grain of sea-salt, saline, or mineral bath. I don't do facials, massages, scrubs - hell I've never even gotten a mani-pedi before. Likewise, I was definitely spa-phobic and put it in the same category as I ignorantly placed the other self-improvement activities. And then there was you, Spa Castle. Who knew being nude in public could feel like such a warm embrace? ...no, wait. What I mean is, it was an eye-opening experience - hold up. Ok, what I mean is, I came in so skeptical and 6 or 7 hours later, i still did not want to leave this haven of relaxation. So let me try to put my awakening and subsequent love for mega-spas into words. I could elaborate on the locker system, the uniforms, the different saunas, the restaurants, and the fitness center, but I want explore what I truly love about spa castle. First of all I love the sheer quantity of available methods of relaxation and the new-age, holistic ways in which the minerals in the water or on the wall are meant to heal you or encourage emotional and physiological responses. I love the rooftop pool on a warm, sunny day - a day-off from work, no less. So many different jet streams to comfort every muscle on your frame, a hot sauna and Japanese wooden hot-tub mock-up. Bliss. The vibe of the people on a weekday afternoon is palpable - there is the energy of collective mental healing and relaxation. Incredible right? You don't have to believe that part, but it's kind of like church, or Vegas for that matter - when so many people are focused on one thing, you can feel it in the air. Of course this is a great place to bond with your friends & people you care about. Of course this could be a supreme date if you're able to go with someone who's willing to get up close and personal. Bonding with people while simultaneously feeling so good seems to be synergistic. So it's my opinion that you don't go alone if you can help it, but I'm sure going alone is sometimes a desire and there may be more serenity in that. So, this review is kind of cathartic. I couldn't put my finger on why i loved Spa Castle and I would just list all the amenities and price to my friends - that is still a great tactic to convince first timers to go. But now I realize that for me it's the energy in the facility, the bonding with friends, and of course my body's response to all of the myriad relaxation methods that make this place so magical. read more
Came here for a birthday gathering during a weekday summer afternoon. Once you pay the entrance fee of $40.00, which I suppose this covers the cost of the massage pools and saunas, they then inform you that you can't wear your own flip flops. They want you to walk barefoot or purchase one of their slippers. I chose to purchase their $5 slippers which upon putting them on, they ended being two right feet. Oh, was I annoyed. I looked like a four year old, who doesn't know their right from their left. But I hate walking barefoot outside of my own home, so I dealt with looking like I ride the short bus and tried to keep it moving, though awkwardly I might add. We all headed to the massage pools first, which were massaging well and had ample space for quiet a few people. I should've noticed when I first got in, but I guess we were just happy to be there. Along the side of the pools there was this murky bubbly foam build up...ewww!! That was my queue to get the hell out. So much for being able to use the massage pool, oh well. After being thoroughly grossed out, I decided to check the next area of this nicely designed three floor spa out. As I am walking around the indoor area with my two right feet of slippers I considered getting a massage. The massage room I walked in happened to be shared with at least 5-6 tables, from what I remember, with a few other people already getting their massages. Multiple people massage area? Not really my cup-o-tea. The area looked totally uninviting and felt like it would not be a relaxing massage experience for me, so I opted out and chose to save my $'s. I didn't notice any private massage areas, so off I go to peruse the other floors. I found this darkly lit sleep area, it looked comfortable and inviting, but in that 'sleep' area I found a couple making out! Lol!! Yo' peeps, get a room, there are kids present!' They obviously wanted their privacy in this public area, so I slowly backed out of there. I found a few members of our group and we decided to check out the food court, everything looked unappealing to me. Idk, maybe because things weren't going well that it started messing with my head? That's a possibility. I gave up and told everyone I was ready to go, and they were also. We all had enough of our Spa Castle experience. I will say the best part was spending quality time with family and friends in a place that housed pretty great ideas, that just didn't seem to pan out as well for me and all this accompanied with my two right feet of rubber slippers; an experience I won't forget. I'll end this review by saying, 'been there, done that'...I won't be back. read more

Wow were we surprised and disappointed. Great place for large families who have tons of kids an maybe can't afford a regular spa or can't afford a babysitter. Arrive: NO PARKING - Good luck searching in the nearby neighborhoods Enter the building and stand in line like you are about to ride a water park ride. WTF we even went through turnstiles. Leaving: Stand in longggg line again to check out. I mean at least 20-30 minutes each line. Cost: $45 + add ons to use there murky looking pools filled with kids and really gross people! Food Court: OHHH My God this was disgusting. Wet people all over the old gross and stale salad bar and then there was a snack bar up top that had a B rating. How can you get a B rating when all you serve is hot dogs and steamed corn? I got a salad and they don't offer salad dressing. I asked the young checkout girl if I could trade my salad for something else because it was a little flavorless. She said, and I quote, "I didn't make it, go put salt on it". CLASSY! ODDITIES: They make everyone wear uniforms. I mean the structure was so funny it made me feel like I was in a machine spa not a day spa. They churned and burned. NOISE: Kids everywhere. This was pretty much a public pool, toilet and mall mixed together. I would have paid a few dollars more and gone to a legit spa. Actually the total of the private scrub and entry would have been the same as if I went to a nice day spa, since they don't charge entry when you get a service. PS the locker room steps lead into the Food court. That's like having your bathroom in the kitchen. GROSSSSSS read more

Today, 6/10/2016, there was a naked man in the all-naked female area staring at women (including myself) who were getting in and out of jacuzzis, and then he went walking around naked so all of the children - and there were many of them tonight - could clearly see his body fully exposed. Definitely much more than I wanted to see at a spa. And could you imagine how unsafe and uncomfortable it made me feel when I was sitting in the hot tub (obviously naked since it's an all nude area - and they actually PROHIBIT any swimsuits!), taking a look at the tub right next to mine and seeing A DUDE sitting there and staring at me. I wanted to scream loud but there was no one who could assist me so I had nothing left to do but get out of the tub when that creep kept staring right at me, quickly get dressed and get some help. How was I supposed to relax under such unbelievable conditions? To my surprise, management & staff did absolutely nothing to get him out of there or to refund the admission fee. Absolutely disgusting and we're never ever going back! Ladies and especially mothers beware. I've heard he's a regular customer there. P.S. I used to really like this place until today and was really looking forward to visiting it again. Sorry, but your current special "for only $40 let a random man who is not your husband see your naked body" doesn't seem like a great deal to me. And thanks God my little daughter wasn't there with me and didn't see something she does not need to see. read more

I went with two friends to this place. The spa mecca is pretty much situated in the middle of a residential neighborhood off the Whitestone Expwy. If it is your first time, the building itself is quite vast. Street parking is available but they got valet parking in the back, take the side street on the left side of the building. You just need to pay only tips to the valet guys. Facility access fee is $35 weekday/$45 weekend. They accept all major credit cards except for AMEX. If you need cash, there is a ATM machine on the left side ($2.00 ATM surcharge fee). It didn't work for me that time, but I had my debit card. After paying the access fee, you are handed a wristwatch with a number imprinted (Blue for guys, Pink for ladies). As you enter the locker room, you need to take your shoes off and put them in the shoe locker, opened through your electronic wristwatch (just put the wristwatch against the sensor). Then you can walk over to your clothes locker and put in your stuff. Before entering the spa complex upstairs, you will need to take a shower and baths in your locker area. Of course, you will need to do this naked with other guys. It's not a huge deal (as stated by other reviewers). The shower/sauna/baths area is quite large so you are not too close to each other. The open shower stalls are found on the left side or the semi-enclosed stalls on your immediate right. There are four baths in the middle (kiddie, warm, hot, and event). The chilled baths are in the back as well as the massage baths. There is a wet and dry sauna in the far left back. If you want to pay extra you can get the body scrub and massage. There are disposable toothbrushes and razors available too. After you dry off, you can take a small towel, and shirt and shorts (S, M, L, XL). There is also a relax area if you want to take a short nap. After that you can walk upstairs into the main spa complex. The main floor consists of the various saunas (LED, gold, jade, loess, iceland), massage chairs, eating area, juice bar, buffet/yogurt/sushi bar, the lavendar spa and massage area. Essentially, it's the main place to congregate with other spa visitors. I used the open shiatsu massage which was $75 for 60 min. If you want to schedule a private massage (deep tissue, swedish, oil, hot stone), you need to schedule in advance. If you want to schedule on the day of, you may get a slot or be prepared to wait a few hours. If you take the stairs to the mezzanine, there is the foot/hand massage on the right and the relax/tv area on the left. The third floor is pretty much the pool area, both inside and outside. You got a rental/purchase bar for shorts, beach towels, other accessories. On one side, you got the kiddie pool, the foot and massage pool. Outside, you got heated pools, the waterfalls (which shoots strong jets of water so be careful). The Aqua Bar is there for drinks. You also have bathroom and lockers where you can change your swimsuit though I have seen folks wear the spa castle shirt and shorts over their swimsuit. On the top floor, you got the fitness center. It's an extra $5 if you are a non-member. For food, you got the Sky Restaurant and a patio for a good view in case of good weather. At the conclusion of your stay, get dressed and there is a checkout line where they will process your wristwatch (don't lose it! there is a $50 lost fee) and give your final bill. For those that try to skimp out their bill, you will unfortunately get photographed and placed on the Shame on You wall. Overall, it was a great stay. I think you can get a lot of value if you stay there for several hours. Thank you Spa Castle! read more
Throw your inhibitions out the window and come get naked at Spa Castle! Step 1: Pay $35 ($45 for weekday) and you get a electronic watch with a number that matches one locker for your shoes and one locker for your clothes. Pick up gaudy orange-and-pink prison uniform. Step 2: This is the best part! Take off all your clothes, put into respective locker, and go back to the days of Adam-n-Eve, when everything was good and clothing was optional. The best part of Spa Castle is that you don't even need to wear the fig leaves!! Step 3: Walk into the hot tub room on the first floor and if it's your first time, yes, you're allowed to ogle for a minute or two since being naked in a room full of complete strangers might feel a bit odd. But take a quick shower, jump into one of the four hot tubs in the middle of the room to relax, then jump into the 77F "Cool tub" for a quick rush of exhilaration.. or if you're REALLY brave go into the 57F "Chill tub" and hop back into the 108F tub. Your skin will feel like its being seared for a Hawaiian BBQ! Step 4: Put horrendous neon outfit back on and head upstairs. TIP: BRING YOUR BATHING SUIT. The third floor which houses all the outdoor pools and tubs are for both sexes, and you will need to wear your bathing suit. On the second floor, you'll find a cafeteria-like buffet station for lunch/dinner options and various Korean desserts and sweets AND 7 different dry saunas. You can pay for it all on your electronic watch... but who the hell would pay $12 for an ice cream?! Yes... I did. But damn, did that Korean pot bing soo (shaved ice with fruit) taste pretty sweet after 30 mins of roasting in 150F+ saunas. Step 5: Try all the different saunas, they have salt ones to release the toxins in your body, infrared saunas to help you "loosen the fat", color-therapy saunas to help you relax... tons! Try all the different ones, it's fun. Don't forget to drink tons of water or else you'll end up with blurred vision and dry mouth! Step 6: Go to the locker room and put your bathing suit on. Head upstairs to the third floor for the hotdoor pools/whirltubs. It's fun but I imagine it might be a kid-crazy zone. I went on a Wed night and there were ZERO whiny, loud kids. Win for me. My mom and I had a blast trying all the different massage jet streams. Step 7: Head back down to the hot tub room, soap vigorously, and shower. Feel refreshed and relaxed. Step 8: Try not to fall asleep on your way home!! Loved my experience here, I'll def be back. But I imagine coming on the weekend might be some what more of a "3 star experience" but Spa Castle def gets 4.5 stars. If they change the stiff, cardboard outfits and give me water in an actual cup, I might give it a 5-er. read more

You better come here for the whole day, because it's a lot of staff to do! They have around 10 saunas where you can lay down on the bamboo carpet and relax. Also ice room is so cool! You can get massage there, you can sleep in relaxing rooms where nobody will interrupt you. The only minus it is always crowded! Even on Monday's whats pretty weird.. but with everything else spa castle is a great way to spend your day off with or without kids. read more

The Korean spa experience goes down the drain as soon as you walk into the facility. Cons: - it feels like an urban ghetto. - aside from the cleaning people, the people who work behind the desks are completely rude. - people eating in the pools. No etiquette. - I'll be the thousandth person to say this...the kids. Ever heard of a daycare center?! It wasn't even relaxing at all. Pros: - the free shuttle bus to and from Spa castle. - plenty of lounge chairs to get your tan on in the pool area. $35 to use the pools and the different rooms all day is definitely a good deal. But realistically, it's not even worth it. read more

Question: Are you ready to get nekked? If you answered YES, then come visit. If you answered NO, you should still come visit. There is something to do for everyone willing to drop their pants or not. In the end, all patrons will be dressed the same. Blue and gray for men, pink and orange for women. Let me walk you through the process... at the front desk you pay an entrance fee of $35 weekday or $45 weekend. You will then be handed a Magic Plastic Watch with a four digit number on it (strap this on your wrist and guard w your life). Men and women separate from this point. Now the journey begins... Upon entering your designated area here is what you do: 1) store shoes in small locker that corresponds with # on your MPW 2) collect your "uniform" from the ladies, guardian of this area 3) proceed to bigger lockers where you will store the rest of your belongings. use MPW to access. Now this is where you decide if you are going butt naked or not. On this floor there are a number of pools only accessible if you are naked. Before you step foot in any of them, you have to take a shower. There are heated baths, jet massages and sauna in this private area. If you arent comfortable with nudity then put your bathing suit on and wear uniform over then head one floor up where both men and women have access to saunas, massages, outdoor pool and food. There are areas to nap, have a drink, watch tv, sit and relax. You wont run out of things to do! P.S. your MPW is your means of payment for everything. Dont lose it! read more

This place going down the shitter. I had been there more then ten times, with every time it's getting worse and worse. Service become unacceptable. Lines everywhere, battle swimming all over the pool, smells like swamp. Really disappointed. Used to be best place to spend your entire day. read more
I had never heard of Spa Castle until recently. I feel like all of my friends knew about this place but me! My boyfriend and I both being currently unemployed, we chose a weekday to make the trek out to Flushing. The spa has a free shuttle service that picks you up about a block and a half away from the last stop on the 7 train and takes you right to the front door. The weekday fee for an adult is $35 - and what a deal this is!! We were there from about 9:30am till 4pm so we totally got our money's worth. When you pay at the front desk, you're given what looks like a Swatch. It has your locker number on it and serves as an electronic key to lock and unlock your cubby. The locker room attendant gives you a "uniform" - for the ladies, this means pink shorts and an orange/pink top. No shoes. At first I was a little skeeved out at the thought of walking around barefoot, especially in the toilet areas, but I managed to get over it. I felt like (nerd alert!) an Active from the Dollhouse walking around this place, what with the bare feet, uniforms, and zen-like vibe. There are a variety of hot saunas on the main floor to choose from, ranging from about 130 degrees to 190 degrees, plus a cold sauna named "Ice Land" that's set at about 25 degrees. I am no fan of extreme temperatures and had never set foot in any sauna before, but let me tell you I really enjoyed the experience. Going from a 181 degree room into a 26 degree room feels so incredibly invigorating. One flight up is an indoor jet pool and some outdoor pools and jacuzzis with some super strong jets. The weather was nasty the day that we went, but being in the warm outdoor water in wet, cold weather felt pretty awesome. The food court was ok - there was a salad bar with fresh fruits, veggies, noodle salads, etc that costs $10/pound. You can also order fresh-made sushi, hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches, and more. There's a frozen yogurt stand, a Starbucks, a juice/smoothie bar. Salad bar food was nothing to write home about. I don't know if it's always like this during the week, but the food court was understaffed so things took longer than they should have. What's nice is that you can leave your money in your locker; you scan your wristband any time you buy something, and then pay the entire balance on your way out. You can pay extra for spa treatments like massages, facials, waxing, mani/pedi's, body scrubs, hand/foot massage. I didn't partake in any of these. One thing to note is that the hot tub/shower area inside the locker room may take some getting used to. That area is clothing-free, no bathing suits allowed. I'm not accustomed to walking around nude in front of a bunch of strangers, but everyone there was so unaffected by the scenario that I felt completely comfortable following (in my birthday) suit. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my first Spa Castle visit (& my first SPA visit ever!) and I definitely want to return. Minus one star for being quite the hike for anyone who doesn't live in Queens. I think I just wrote my longest Yelp review. On that note, I'm out. read more
It's tough to give it much more when on the day you go the place gets shut down by the health department. Then they will only give you 2 weeks to use refund, yet 4 days later and the pools are still closed. I really don't get the ugly shirt and shorts they give you. Before they got shut down had some lunch upstairs, food tasted good, but not cheap. read more

I've been wanting to come here for a long time. Living in Manhattan, I had it made up in my mind that it was just too far. It actually wasn't that bad- took the 6, then got off on the last stop on the 7, walked about 2 min to the parking lot across the Woori Bank, and got picked up by the complimentary shuttle about 30 minutes later. Contrary to what was on the website, the shuttle arrives every hour and 40 minutes after the hour. We got there around 11am on a Saturday and it didn't get crowded until 2pm. Alright now on to the good stuff: **Bring your own swimsuit and towel like everyone has said. $45 dollars for admission and they give you a watch that allows you to charge food/services on it so you don' t have to carry your wallet. You then walk in and there is a separate locker for your shoes and your clothes. Everyone has to wear a uniform when walking throughout the spa. The locker room was nice and clean, and there's a huge area with showers, hot tubs, a wet/dry sauna, and a steam room. This is the only place where you have to bare it all. I did this after I was done with everything, and its pretty cool. 1st floor: This floor has all the dry saunas. It was pretty cool going into each one which is decorated differently and supposedly has different health benefits(I'm not really sure about that). I personally liked the gold sauna the best until 2 girls walked in and started talking. The floor of each sauna is lined with straw mats and little wooden blocks you can use to rest your head. If you get too hot, there's also a cold room which is about 40 degrees. I only stayed in there for about 4 minutes to cool down from the sauna. Mezzanine: they have lounge chairs here that are really comfy and each one has a tv. I wish I was tired to use this, but I didn't stay here long. There's a buffet area too thats around 10-12/lb. We didn't taste the food, b/c we just got fruit. They had kiwi, cantaloupe, strawberries, papaya, and grapes. It was soo sweet! really hit the spot and I'm glad I didn't go for the ice cream instead. 2nd floor: This is where you take the uniform off and put on the swimsuit(you can actually wear your swimsuit under the uniform) Indoor pool area- This is really cool if you wanna stay indoors. Little buttons activate jets and give you a nice massage. Snacks are also available. Outdoor pool area- This is where we spent most of our time. We loved going to different areas of the pool and pushing the button to activate the jets. Every spot had a jet located in a different location. My favorite one was the jets that were coming from the bottom. I was really surprised how strong these jets were. The pools are all heated, so you don' t have to worry about being cold in the water. 3rd floor: After the pool, we got hungry and ate upstairs. There is a fitness area, but we didn't use that. Food is kinda pricey but tastes good. We got the spicy tofu for $10 and it really hit the spot. Overall: WE loved this place. It's a definitely a must go for us once a month from now on. It literally felt like we were on vacation in some tropical area. We thought about getting a massage or a body scrub, but sitting in the pool and getting blasted by the jets seemed good enough for us. The place is very clean. My only complaint would be the travel time, but other than that I will definitely be back. read more

It is hard for me to rate this location. I bought the admission tickets from Living Social and was looking forward to a day of relaxation with my girls.... because when you think "spa," you think "relaxed." We are all teachers and were excited for a day of pampering and spa like treatment before the school year started. However, we were unpleasantly surprised that relaxed was far from the experience we received. We started the day by heading to the outdoor pool and could not stay there for more than about 20 minutes because we kept getting splashed on and passed by CHILDREN who treated this outdoor pool as a waterpark attraction. I was so nervous as I witnessed a kid running and slip at the edge of the pool. How is one supposed to relax with kids acting like this all around you?? We next headed to the bar by the pool, we ordered drinks. They were good and had the right amount of alcohol, especially for the price ($16-$18). However, again, we were disappointed because we wanted to hang out in the indoor pool by the pool bar... but were turned off as soon as we saw a child no more than the age of 8 hanging by the bar. There really should be some restrictions to where children can be. So, we headed upstairs to the sundeck instead. Next we headed to Sauna Valley where again children were running in and out of the saunas. What business does a child have in a hot sauna? I'm not really sure. It was really hard to relax. We even went into the Iceland and 2 girls ran in, touched the ice and screamed, and then ran out. Needless to say, this place would just be better if kids were not allowed. I understand that this wants to be a "family-friendly" environment, but if that is the case, there should be "Adult-Only" zones because when I come to a spa, I want to feel relaxed and be in a peaceful setting. If I want to be around kids, I would go to an amusement park, which is how this seemed to feel. read more

While I still like the facilities, food, and service- the atmosphere is suffering big time. It used to be a bit more high end clientele is suffering (it is very rough now- lots of fight break out people cursing really loud). I like to go to the spa to relax and the atmosphere is far from it now. My friend caught a very bad infection on his foot from the tubs (his dr. said this is an infection commonly caught in spas). He's been out of work for the past week because he cannot walk and is on lots of meds- almost had to be admitted to hospital because of it. Unfortunately I do not want to go back there anymore. It used to be a great safe place- I hope they can turn around. read more
I went in with the mindset to experience a tranquil Spa Castle day. It was...how can I say, not that? The lines were massive -- it was like waiting for a water ride at Hurricane Harbor minus the thrill and frills. (From my experience today) after you check-in there was another line for lockers because they were packed to capacity. The rest of the experience at the "castle" was like riding the 7 train on rush hour. What's up management? You sold 65,000+ deals on Living Social but you undersold to the consumers a "Spa experience". Please re-evaluate and bring back Spa Castle to it's original form. Tip: Wait for that Living Social deal to die down. read more

I used to come here frequently. This is my first time back since they opened premiere 57. I came here to celebrate my daughter's birthday because she is too young to go to Premiere 57. This place is like a huge kiddie pool these days. So many kids. My child is 15 but sheesh. Packed with kids under the age of 10. In the past I'd usually visit in the evening so maybe that's why I never experienced this. I purchased our admission on living social so it is what it is. Not wowed and not entirely disappointed. If I return it will be in the fall/winter after work. read more

This place would have received 1 star but the saunas are excellent and don't mind the barefoot policy since the place is pretty clean. Then again I went on a Tuesday afternoon. The second star is for potential. I believe Spa Castle is supposed to be & could be a relaxing experience but it fails in so many ways. Cost - Admission $40 on weekdays/$50 on weekends which inlcudes the lounge pools with massage jets, jacuzzi, locker rental and saunas as well as valet parking. Then drinks, food and other services inside are insanely expensive. Every meal is a minimum of $12/ Drinks range from $10 - $14. The food and drinks are medicore. It's a waste, don't bother eating here. All other services such as massage and manicure are overpriced. Service - Don't expect warm greetings or welcoming smile instead you only get frustrated, annoyed staff. Every question is a nuisance. No people skills except the Colombian gentleman working the third floor bar. Everyone else clearly did not want to be there even when our group were polite & gave no complications. Food and drink service is slow. However, there was only one bartender serving the adults on the pool level. Perhaps add another bartender because she could use some help there? Ambience - Usually tranquil, peaceful, relaxing comes to mind when describing a spa but Spa Castle is none of that. Kids running around going crazy and adults having a great time sometimes behaving like kids. There are hardly any quiet areas unless you sign up for extra services. . They might as well play Top 40 music in the pool section, add some trippy lights and fog machine for good measure. It's more of a bar/lounge with a SPA theme and now open until 2am! The pool section also comes with guys hollering at ladies and offering to buy drinks. The only thing that prevent Spa Castle from fully transforming into the SPA Bar/Lounge are the kids and the 3 drink limit per person. Overall I had a good time since I was just pretty much hanging out with my friends. Always help to be in good company. But don't, I REPEAT DO NOT COME HERE TO RELAX. This is not it unless you come here very early in the morning on a weekday but who has time to do that? This location is not even convenient unless you drive. Find a serious spa. read more

I went here for the first time on Jan. 2, 2012 after a total of 8 hours of standing for the New Year Ball Drop at Time Square. The saunas almost immediately relieved my aches! And just to let you know, I'm in my 20's. I paid $45 for general admission, which is pretty cheap for all the things you get to do there. But it gets pricey once you decide to drink or eat anything. The big towels are also for rent, so it helps to save if you bring your own. The little towels are free and you can get as many as you like. At the front desk in the locker room area, you can purchase face masks, sandals, head wear etc. The spa comes with a lot of rules. No wearing any footwear (except the ones you buy from them). No outside food or drink (this is NOT strict at all, I brought my own water and no one even cared and don't be afraid of the threatening "We will check your bags if necessary" sign at the lobby. They don't do anything). Must wear uniform provided to you throughout the place (except nude only areas). Must be naked in nude only areas. It was totally awkward at first, but then you realize no one even cares to scan over your naked body so might as well join them. I took the shuttle there on 39th Union St. Be warn, the shuttle apparently has various pick up/drop off locations depending on the driver. I went to 3 different locations (provided by 3 different poorly informed spa employees over the phone) before the I managed to catch a shuttle. It drives you to the entrance of the spa. Overall, it took me about 2 or more hours to get here from Manhattan, which is insane!!! It wouldn't take this long if you actual know where the shuttle is. It also took forever for any worker to pick up the phone, very bad customer service (which is why I minus a star)!!!!!! HERE'S A TIP FOR YOU: The watch they give you is for opening lockers and paying for any services within the facility so you wouldn't have to carry a wallet around. I knew it right away cause I'm a genius, but some people did have a hard time figuring out what it was for. To open the lockers, hold the watch over the scanner on the locker and wave it around a couple of times until it works. It is also water proof and heat proof (tested it myself). read more

So happy this place finally changed... and renovated for the better. They fixed up the much needed relaxing room with recliner seats that arent broken... and now they give you robes, which is a little more of a elevated experience. You can also notice the staff cleaning the floors constantly so hopefully this place stays clean! I've been coming here for the past 5 years or more and I love this place. They have great saunas, great food and awesome pools. I also really love one massuese in the hand/foot massage area (upstairs) named Connie! She is great at the Indian Head massage and the neck/shoulder massage. I have not tried anyone else, as she is does the job! Generally, I tend to come here during the week as weekends and Holiday's tend to be crowded. Parking is not an issue, but it is also fairly easily accessible by their free shuttle from Flushing. One time, in a pinch I decided to just take a Lyft back to Manhattan and it was only $28 bucks at night which was a nice option too. read more

I've witnessed Spa Castle College point go through its transition. The location started as a quite place to relax and after gaining popularity that changed a bit. I am happy to say they have taken steps to correct this problem more staff, life-gaurds and security help to control crowds and maintain that calm spa vibe. Its still worth a visit depending on the day and time due to crowds. For a toned down version... I visit Premier 57. read more
After a colleague told me about this place, I decided to go there on a Saturday morning. I like that there's a free shuttle from Flushing that goes to the spa. My colleague told me that they only provide small towels, so I bought a large one with me. She also mentioned about an area without clothing. People can bring their skin care and spa products to do their own routine there. It's located in the Bath & Locker Lounge. But I just avoided that. :P I went to the outdoor Spa Pools. There's a sitting pool and a standing pool. It was quiet in the morning, but the water pressure are so strong that it hurts the body. I wasn't able to stand under it the entire time. The hot tubs were the best. There's also a sauna room between the pools. When I went to the Sauna Valley (Loess Soil Sauna, Color Therapy, Jade Sauna, Gold Sauna, Himalayan Salt, Infrared Zone, Far Infrared Sauna, Ice Land), there were people talking outside and inside the saunas. The infrared zone is an open area and there were adults chatting loudly. It wasn't that relaxing with the noise. Why do people have to talk? There's free water in the area, and there's also a juice bar, salad bar, other spa services and a large section with chairs to relax. The most quiet places would be in the Healing Zone. There was no one inside the Sleeping Room but I would need a blanket or a large towel as a cover if I were taking a nap there. There was no one in the Meditation Room either. It has classic music playing in the background. There's also a Fitness Center and I didn't go to the Sundeck as it was a cool that day. It was an interesting experience and I believe that the hot-cold baths and saunas have benefits for the body. This is a public spa where people go with their kids or friends. It's not so quiet for the ears or private as an upscale spa. It's cheaper on weekdays. read more

The following is probably the closest I'll come to girl-on-girl porn. ** Boom chicka chicka bow ** Imagine a woman. Darken her hair, lighten her skin, make her eyes a little thinner. Now disrobe her, leaving only matching black undergarments. Subtract 10 pounds. Put Brillo mittens on her hands. She is efficient and strong. Her eyes are neither kind nor wise, but they are smart. Behind them is a quick laugh. Now, after rendering me naked putty under said mittens, imagine her on her knees, straddling my back on a narrow plastic bed, my face grimaced and groaning while she digs her elbows under my shoulder blades. My sister is undergoing the same treatment several feet over. [An hour later, I'm reading short stories while sipping Brooklyn Lager sitting on pool jets. It's not particularly sexy; I only mention it to indicate satisfaction.] read more
Spa Castle is a place where there's no shame in stripping off your clothes and getting wild! Hungry? Walk upstairs to the 1st or 2nd floor to buy some grub (Korean and mixed American). Thirsty? Take a seat at the aqua bar and order a drink. Sore? Go to the lobby, take off your clothes and choose a heated or cold bath to relax in. Tired? Take a nap on one of the couches in the lobby or go upstairs and lie down on the heated floor in the designated napping area. Horny? Go outside on the 2nd floor and relax in the heated outdoor pool where couples like to play and make out. For an additional fee, you can schedule a personal massage as well. There are LOADS of activities to do and you can easily spend the whole day here. They have a series of different sauna rooms: L.E.D, Gold, Salt, Far Infrared Ray, Ice, Jade, Loess Soil. Each room has an explanation before you enter with it's purpose and benefits. The only downside is that you probably need a car to get here. They do have a complimentary bus that picks up in Flushing. Spa Castle Admission Fee: Weekday = $35 Weekend = $45 Tip: The only area you HAVE to be naked is the sauna located in the lobby. Trust me...it's not that bad. I've seen some hideous bodies here and I really mean hideous. No one cares. Just do it. See ya naked! I mean later! read more

I spent nine hours at Spa Castle. Yes my friends, nine glorious hours. I went on a weekday, so was able to avoid the madness that overwhelms the place on weekends. For $35 I think it's a great deal. Getting there was relatively easy, but it did take awhile from Manhattan. My friend and I were the only ones in the complimentary van from the 7 train, so we knew it would be a quiet day. When you arrive, they will give you a badge to wear around your wrist. This is how you will store your belongings (shoes have their own separate locker...genius) and also pay for everything from food to massages once inside. It frees you up, but that device is a bit dangerous! You also will be given uniforms, which are kind of funny but strip away everyone's identity in a kind of freeing way. As other reviewers have mentioned, they have everything here from bade pools, to jacuzzis, to saunas (six to be exact and an ice room). They even have a swim up bar (3 drink maximum). And of course they offer spa treatments like massages, facials, body scrubs, etc. There are also jacuzzis, saunas, and a wicked steam room in the men's and women's locker rooms. Yes you have to be nude in these areas. I was humbled by the unabashed body acceptance these women possessed. If you are not comfortable with this environment, you can always skip it. Many of the women there were foreign, which did not surprise me. I did a few rounds in the saunas, went to the pools, took a nap, had a foot massage (all their treatments include gratuity which is nice), ate some food, did more sauna rounds, revisited the pools at night.... I was so relaxed by the end of the day. If you come here expecting exceptional customer service and an oasis escape you will be disappointed. The place is too large and the admission is too low for attendants to wait on you hand and foot. This is NOT a Mandarin Oriental experience, it can be very reviving though if you know what to expect. Tips: -Ladies, bring amenities, they do not have much outside of generic body lotion and shampoo/conditioner. -Yes the food is expensive, not unreasonable though. The fruit is pretty fresh and the salads aren't bad. Just steer clear of meat. -The only complimentary towels are tiny. If you need one, bring your own. -Go on a weekday! -Go with friends. This is a social spa, not a quiet solitary retreat. Of course you can go off on your own, but it's fun to be with a partner or group. -Make the most out of your money. You get unlimited spa use for the admission price. And FYI... they open at 6am and close at midnight. read more

My friend and I recently went to Spa castle. I was so excited because I had heard so many good things. Well disappointment is an understatement. First of all how can they not allow you to wear shoes and especially in the bathroom area. I was beyond grossed out. I don't care what kind of tradition that is, have you heard of foot fungi? Shoes are a must in public bathrooms and locker rooms. Second I just can't get over the no swimsuit in the locker room pools. I mean really?? You make everyone wear these big shorts and t-shirts in the public area but in the locker pools you must be naked? Come on... Third there was a tampon floating in the outdoor pool. Enough said. We went on a Monday during the day and the place was packed. Screaming kids EVERYWHERE! Literally there is no where to escape the kids. I will never be back needless to say.. read more

It used to be good, now it is a disease heaven waiting to happen. I visited the Spa Castle on December 23. The entire experience was bad from beginning to end The shuttle filled up quickly, there were about another busload of people but the driver told the people who didn't get in to "wait 30 minutes" in stead of sending another car. I ended up waited for 1 hour and 45 minutes for another bus, and finally caught it at the other side of the parking lot rather than the designated area. At the Sap Castle, the condition was so unhygienic it was to the point of revolting. There were many non-Asian people who treated the place like a heated swimming pool rather than a bath house. Many of the non-Asians went into the facilities without showering first, and got into the bath pool with their bathing suits. You can see dead skin cells floating over bath water. That's how bad. They even put face masks on while in the pool! Their face masks kept dripping into the bathwater it was disgusting. The floor was wet everywhere, especially in the bathrooms. Many stalls were in unusable condition, and no one was cleaning the floor or the bathrooms. And since we are talking about bathrooms.... there were women who were on their monthly cycle in the facility. For my sake and with God's grace, let's hope they at least have the sense NOT to have gone into the pools. To be fair, only half of the problem is on the Spa Castle, the other half comes from people who have no respect for Asian bathing etiquette. It is so sad to see a good place gone down the drain, for the ironic reason that it became popular among the ignorant. read more
Came here yesterday for my best friends birthday. Never Ever Again!!!! I wish I could have taken a shower in bleach when I left this place. I think SPA I think relaxing, tranquil, quiet, peaceful......yeah not at all, none of it. Lets start off the price....$50 bucks to sit in a dirty bath tub. Awesome totally worth it. Next- I cant wear my flip flops, no shoes what so ever. Bare foot or purchase their flop flops. You get to walk all through their establishment and dirty floors and pools with no shoes. Shoes go in one locker then you have to go to another locker for your clothes. No one instructs you on any of this by the way. Your prison jump suit. I felt like I was in a cult. How am I suppose to know if these clothes were even clean?? And I'm sorry one size fits all doesn't fit all. Bartenders are non existent and just plain slow and bad. Started at one bar, 20 minutes to make our drinks and no one else was getting drinks. We go back for another $12.00 drink and she is gone, had to hike up 2 floors and there she is. Wait again for drinks. Just un-bar-educated bartenders that were slow as can be. Kids running around screaming and unattended. Sitting in the ice sauna trying to escape the lunacy and an 8 year old little girl is in there throwing snow balls at me. Her parents left her in there and just walked away. Awesome!! Food options stunk in my opinion, didn't even bother trying them. Naked people with no shame in the locker rooms. And I mean zeroooooooo shame. To conclude the day a huge fight in the locker room and the cops had to be called. Seriously its a spa??? Full blown cat fight with cops called. And that wasn't the only physical fight we saw while at spa castle I will never come here again. I showered and scrubbed myself down as soon as I got home. Waste of money, if it wasn't for my friends birthday this would have been a horrid disgusting day. Good concept and idea.....but horrible execution. Not gonna lie, I kinda loved my day I spent here. For those of you unfamiliar with the Korean spa/Japanese onsen experience, they're a little different from American spas. While American spas pride themselves in being quiet and serving you cucumber water and lettuce wraps while you pay hundreds of dollars for a treatment, Korean spas and some Japanese onsens are usually enjoyed by people of all ages, including children. they have large common areas for talking, eating, and sleeping, and some smaller quieter areas for those who need some true R&R. For people used to visiting these facilities, however, rest and relaxation doesn't just come from the hot water of the baths, but it also comes from spending time eating, drinking, and chatting with family and friends. If you're looking for a quiet place to unwind without children, this isn't it. I used a $25 livingsocial as my excuse to come. The locker rooms are nice and clean, but be prepared to be surrounded by naked people. Many who visit these facilities are not squeamish about being in the nude, so if being around casually naked people isn't your thing, then this isn't your spa. Within the gendered locker rooms are some baths, all ranging in temperature from 61 F to 104 F. The baths were nice, but not the stone or wooden baths I'm accustomed to in Japan. The room is also very dark. There is no natural lighting, and no outdoor private baths. Showers were plentiful in this area, and the provided shampoo, conditioners, and soaps are great. If you have products you're attached to, I suggest bringing them with you. I decided to drop $60 for the traditional Korean body scrub, which was incredible. It's a wonderful value, as the woman scrubs you down with just her Italy towels, then uses the Italy towels and a body scrub soap, and then washes your body while throwing in a mini back massage. After she's done with that, she washes and conditions your hair, and washes your face. The $60 deal is performed in the public area, next to many other people (in the nude), so if this gives you the heebie jeebies, I would suggest paying more for the body scrub in their private room. I tried the outdoor pools as well, and the hydrotherapy was really great. Some of the jets are really powerful, so be very careful. This area was often very crowded, and even on a weekday afternoon, we were unable to get chairs out by the pool to sunbathe. I did try one of their $18 drinks. I can understand the price- they're trying to deter people from over drinking, but the drink was good. This is the same price drinks run in some of Manhattan's clubs, or even Midtown bars, so I wasn't shocked by the prices. I didn't try the food, all I could tell about it was that it is expensive, which is expected. I also loved the saunas. It was fun trying all the different rooms and reading about their various benefits. I left here feeling like a brand new human. If you know what to expect, I think you'll have a good time. If you're expecting a lot of private attention, plush robes, and peace of quiet, you can skip this place. read more

Oh the better name for this establishment would be Kid Castle or Scam Castle. I have been going here on and off since it opened and it has gone WAY down hill. Don't let the name fool you; there is nothing relaxing about it. Screaming foreigners and kids running all over the place (opening doors to rooms and playing hide and go seek). On weekends it's over sold so there are lines to go in every room. The water coolers are always out of water- but fear not Costco bottle water is for sale for $2.50 a bottle! They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. $1.00 for new uniform, additional cost for towels, price is increasing in February etc. The of course there is the mandatory "naked room" in each locker room. Now I don't mind stripping down, but this place looked like it was a hang out for child molesters. I mean, why would a parent allow their naked child to hand out with naked adults anyway? If you are looking to relax, go elsewhere. read more

I want to start off by agreeing with some of the other reviewers - this place is NOT relaxing. I went with a small group of friends and family for my bachelorette weekend. We made the best of it and enjoyed some of the saunas but none of us would go back again. Cons: Kids - There was a kiddie pool and designated areas just for kids but no areas designated just for adults?! I didn't think kids were even allowed in saunas but they were swarming the place in all of the hot tubs and saunas. Non Relaxing Massages - I paid a pretty penny for a body scrub and massage in a "private room". Even though I was in a private room, I was told I had to soak in the public hot tub area which you are required to be nude in. I was pretty much forced to be naked. Then I went to the private room and again, had to be completely naked and other people that worked there were coming in and out of the room. They kept the "private" room door cracked so people could see me and I heard the annoying beeping noise from the lockers the entire time. The scrub was rigorous and the korean lady giving me the scrub / massage seemed more like she was scrubbing toilets than giving a massage. She would dump buckets of water on me and climb on my back without notice. Expensive Food / Drinks - the buffet ended up costing about $25 each based on the weight of a standard plate. The cocktails were around $15 a pop for small / weak glass. Weird Rules - they make you wear these weird uniforms unless you brought your own robe, but you can't wear your own beach coverup or anything else. There was no supervision anywhere or anyone in sight if you needed help but the second my friends and I went to shower off in our bathing suits we were yelled at and demanded to get naked, so we left. No drinks in the pools. You can have a maximum of 3 alcoholic beverages (not if you want to go broke) Poor Management - My one cousin bought her ticket ahead of time and it didn't come in the mail in time and she tried to use her confirmation number and they wouldn't let her. She asked to speak to a manager and he wasn't in yet so they said just buy another pass now and talk to him later. So she spent $100 in total and talked to him on the way out and wouldn't do anything for her and said they can't process refunds - bullshit! Pros: read more
There is no doubt that Spa Castle is commercialized and caters more to families and children. However, I have seen a diverse clientele ranging from extended families enjoying time together to bachelorette parties to grandmas catching up on old times. Note that the groups I've listed are that: groups. This is not a place if you want "me" or "alone" time. On that note: If you sincerely hate children, then don't go here. It's as simple as that. Also: If you don't like the stark nakedness in the shower area, then go to a non-shower spa and shut up. It's not the joint's fault you've got issues with nekkidness. Smh. And: If you don't like the use of the so-called prison uniforms, suck it up and deal with it. Sure, we look frumpy, but it's not as if you're at Spa Castle to snag a new fella (Or are you?). I'm not a big fan either, but if this is what prevents you from coming back, more power to you. Now I'm done with my hateration, on to the good stuff! It's not everyday I get to touch large quantities of gold, jade, loess, freeze myself and heat myself in a span of an hour. It's not even so much going there, but hanging out with the ones you love that make it such a memorable experience. An added bonus is the swimming pool and hot tubs, both inside and on the roof. They have some shallow ones, some deeper ones. The outdoor pools have jet streams that really give your muscles some assurance. Highlight: Imagine chilling in a hot tub on the roof while snow is falling. Others may shudder, but that was probably one of the best experiences I've had. When I went there a second time when the temperature outside was more mild, the water temperature was only lukewarm, so beware of the temperature change. As others have stated: food is available. Avoid the buffet at all costs, and order from the booths. They tab everything, and yes, it's overpriced, but hey, I'll take what I get when I'm hungry. It doesn't hurt that the hamburgers, Korean food, and sushi are made as you order and thus, are actually decent. For those that live in Flushing, getting to Spa Castle has never been easier with the shuttle van that runs every 15 minutes. Those who get off at the Main Street-Flushing stop on the 7 can utilize this service as well. For those that can afford higher prices and more exclusive deals in the city or overseas for spas and saunas, by all means, go. But for those who want to enjoy a day with friends or family without leaving the five boroughs or the tri-state area: go. This is not a place I would go all the time for the sheer fear of losing its novelty, but every time I've gone I really enjoyed myself. Plus, my skin looked all baby-smooth and glowing. Couple radiant glows and happy attitudes, and you've got a day. read more

I was so looking foward to spa castle!! I went on a weekdday due to the warnings by yelpers of overcrowding and children running around screaming and also just beacuse it is ten bucks cheaper. So I got there in the morning and am super happy. I only saw a couple of cute korean babies that were learning to walk and no crowding. So when I got there the girl at the front will shove you your wristwatch without so much as a hello and you get the go ahead. You head to your locker rooms (very clean) and I kinda freaked out when I saw the shoe lockers thinking it was tiny!! Found out they have separate lockers for shoes and clothing (cleaner i guess). Really cool how doors open and close with a tap of your watch. Next, I got handed my pink/orange tshirt and shorts to change into with a toothbrush haha. Im not sure why people complain about the uniform. Its not pretty but its cotton, comfortable, freshly laundered (i could still smell the detergent) and above all means i dont have to see people running around the spa in their speedos. So get your tiny towel at the shower room/naked bath area and you ready to go. Once you go upstairs is where the saunas are. They are super fun. I went through them all alternating betwen the hot saunas and the cold ice land. I bought a face mask that was about $2 to use in the sauna rooms since my pores were pretty open anyway and paid with my watch. Saunas were alot of fun. My favorite was the salt room. Tired out at this time I took a nap at lounge/ mezzanine area on a comfy leather lounger. The room was dark and heated so need for blanket and I drifted off right away. They also have a sleeping area on a heated floor but that didnt look too comfortable. Food wise they have $12/Ib buffet, sushi, fresh juice, pizza, pasta and frozen yoghurt on first floor all around average of $10 or more. I opted for the korean restaurant, sky garden at the third floor where the gym is also located. Sky garden also has "beds" overlooking the view. It was the best deal as the prices were pretty in tune with food court . For $15 I got my appetizers, soup, rice and barbecued beef. Finished up at the bade pools with a variety of jets to try indoors and outdoors. It was chilly outside the day I went but the outdoors ones are fully heated so really great to sink into the steaming hot hinoki bath. Noticed quite a few girls using the jets in who needs a man mode (straddling them) hmm... Before leaving I gathered my courage to go nude and try the traditional korean bath at the ladies locker. It does depend on how comfortable you are with your body but its a family oriented place and tried to be openminded about another culture. They supply you with shampoo, soaps, lotion, hairdryer, gel, toothpaste basically everything to clean up afterwards. Spa castle was fun and relaxing I cannot wait to come back. read more

Are the rates cheaper during winter time?
No, the only times u can get a cheaper price for entrance is if u catch a sale, through them or Groupon.
Does anyone know the name of the soap and shampoo products they use?
Best day/night to avoid families with kids?
Unfortunately you can't really avoid kids at Spa Castle anymore. They need to implement a "no kids" policy OR a day where no kids are allowed.
Do they have man masseuses?
They do, but I believe they use females for women massages, and males for men massages.
Has anyone been there since the reopening? Any advise? Recommend?
Yes we have. We have been denied entry twice for various "spontaneous policy changes". They are very discriminatory. I wouldn't recommend it.
Do you have to be 18 or older to go on your own?
Yes you have to be over 18 and provide identification,

I want to go on my day off but it's going to rain will the outside be close?
Not at all I went it the cold winter the water is hot outside so even if rains it feels so nice and warm you ll love it it'does not matter if rains or not you will not get cold.
I would like to book a massage. Is there an option where I can choose my Masseuse?
I'm not sure. We weren't given the option, but I recommend you call and try to communicate instead of booking via computer or using your phone.
Are all the pools heated? I really want a colder pool
They’ve not heated. Regular pools with jets. The hot tub is the only one that’s temperature controlled. Have fun!
The queens location , handicap accessible ? Elevator on site ? Thanks
I have never seen one, nor seen anyone who seemed like they could use one. I would call however, perhaps there is a service elevator of some sort that I just never noticed.
Do they charge you at the door when you have a groupon?
There is small tax fee I think. Less than 2 dollars but you pay for everything at the end. They will check your groupon when you enter however.

It's been a while since I visited Spa Castle so with a Groupon I decided to pay a visit to the "New" Spa Castle. The first thing I noticed about the "new" Spa Castle is the bright lighting in the entrance lobby. It's stark and unpleasant, definitely not what one would expect when they visit a Spa. Once I entered the locker room area, I quickly realized that there weren't too many changes. On a good note, the shoe lockers and the clothing lockers are all brand new. The shoe lockers are larger now and can actually accommodate my size 16 shoe. The front desk attendant gave me a robe, slippers, large towel and small towel and told me my credit card would be charged $35 that would be refunded in full when I returned them. Like the lobby, the locker room is ridiculously bright. I quickly put my clothes in the . On to the "gender segregated "Wet Area". This is where things started going downhill fast. First of all, it is now "clothing optional" so people wear their spandex and nylon bathing trunks without even showering in the same water that is intended as a communal bath as in traditional Jjimjilbangs. Spa Castle should be ashamed of itself for allowing this, and anyone who is aware of an follows traditional Jimilbang etiquette likely will never return. For an expensive Spa Renovation, this looked like a quick "Bathfitter" redo. The same tubs were there, but cleaned up. The steam room was remodeled a bit, but it still was the same. Some of the jets wouldn't turn off (the ones in the cold massage pool) and some wouldn't turn on (the belly massage). The temperatures of the tubs were ridiculous with most in the 90's. These are hydrotherapy baths not heated pools after all and WAY too cool. Bright unpleasant lighting has been added to the wet area including the sauna and steam room. It is definitely NOT relaxing at all. Surprisingly the two shower areas that are off to the side are dark. Their shower head and controls were remodeled but if you look up you'll see the same rusted old lighting fixtures with rusted water in them. The hall monitors come in to check on "inappropriate activity" every 5 minutes but the "inappropriate activity" takes place during the other 4 minutes. On to the second floor. Gone is the Loess Sauna, the large "barn" with dim lighting, pleasant music and a 180 degree temperature. In it's place is the new Salt Sauna. It's actually far smaller than the Loess sauna was but the mirrored ceiling and bright lighting make it feel much larger. Unfortunately, it's a tepid 130 degrees and the ultra bright lighting and mirrors make for less than a relaxing visit. The new design causes a tornado of cool air to rush in each time the door is opened. Also, there is a persistent fan rattle that is annoying. The ice room was also remodeled but it looks unpleasant now and at 59 degrees is too warm. The Infrared Sauna remains dark and was fairly pleasant. On the third floor the outdoor pools are similar to what they used to be but the temperatures are now around 90 instead of 110. These are hydrotherapy pools, not heated swimming pools and they need to be MUCH hotter. Spa Castle's best feature for years was the Hinnoki Sauna, a wooden sauna Jacuzzi with water that was kept around 111 degrees. The sauna was changed months ago to no longer be wooden, but now, not only isn't it wooden, but it's in a Gazebo instead of exposed to the sky. The dry sauna between the pools was a ridiculous 79 degrees. On the plus side, the staff was actually more pleasant than many I encountered in the past but wasn't in the same league as Jamie, a previous attendant in the mens' locker room who was always one of the most helpful over the years. But, on the whole, Spa Castle's redo is actually several steps DOWN rather than a move up. The lighting is way too intense for a relaxing spa, a mirrored ceiling in a sauna is just plain insane, and clothing optional is ridiculous. They do provide water coolers again so you can fill your water bottle. You get a robe (the waiting for an MRI type, not the thick terry type) but no place to put it as you navigate the Castle and no exchanges. Also, one big and one small towel with no exchanges. people probably forget where they put it. The biggest issue is the price. $85 M-Th and $115 F-Sun. There is NO WAY that those admission fees are worth it for this bathfitter redo. For a few dollars more, you can enjoy the pampering of the world renowned Spa in Edgewater NJ. For about 1/3 of the price you can enjoy a basic Jimjibang in Flushing with a high Yelp rating. That place charges the same admission fee 365 days a year but admittedly doesn't have outdoor pools. I have no idea who the consultant was for Spa Castle's "re do" but they obviously never visited a spa and have no idea what a spa experience is supposed to be. There is no way that this place is going to survive with the current price structure. It's just not worth it, even with a Groupon. read more

DISCLAIMER: Foul language is in abundance for this update Damn, Damn, Damn. Like I mentioned before, I was being generous giving this place a 4 out of 5. After visiting a few times, I had to render my final judgement for this score and I'll get into detail for why I give it this rating BUT I also want to touch on some pros before I shit all over this establishment. Don't get me wrong, I do LIKE this place a lot and the saunas, hot tubs, jet streams and all will make you feel like a new person. The saunas vary in temperature, feel different and will certainly detox you. The hot tubs and bubbly jet streams are nice but can be better. The place looks nice, feels nice and relaxing and CAN be a great place to relax. Now on to whats made me lower the score. After my most recent visits, I've seen a decline at Spa Castle and an incline on a disgusting, hideous demographic. As the G.R.A or Ghetto Ratchet Army (as I like to call them and of ANY and ALL races for the sensitive and politically correct) become more informed of this place, the more Spa Castle seems to be flooded with ratchet, ghetto, behemoth clientele who don't know how to act. Spa Castle used to be a decent place to have a small "get away" from the city and such untamed animals but now when I go to Spa Castle I feel as if I'm in an aquarium, sharing the waters with wild beluga whales, fat violent killer whales or I'm in the Bronx Zoo in a cage with wild gorillas, apes, tigers, lions and bears (oh my). This place has gone downhill with its demographic and for me, its a big turn off. As the weather gets hotter, its gets worse. For the GRA this is the closest they'll come to an oasis and paradise and they obviously don't believe in relaxation, tranquility and peace. They want to be loud, obnoxious, get drunk, and try to "holla at the shawties" and the dumb ghetto bitches come here thinking they're hot shit when they come together with their gurls. Besides the GRA; FUCK THE KIDS. This place isn't for fucking kids. Fuck the kiddie pool and turn that into a bigger jacuzzi or something. Why bring kids here? 95% of them don't go into the sauna and for the amount of money spent on bringing kids here you can take them to a water park or something. Seriously, kids don't belong here, fuck them. They're too loud, annoying, obnoxious, dirty and fuck everything up. Other complaints: -While this place is clean they can do some work. There's paint chips falling off certain areas, people leave their drinks and food all over the place, the sanitation has simply downgraded a little bit. -It went from 35 to 40 on weekdays and 50 for weekends. NOT a big deal and I think its fair for what you get but this place is falling off with its services. -Drinks are too damn expensive, in cheap, flimsy plastic cups, limited variety and they suck. Don't waste your money. -I think the food is good but TOO damn expensive. 12 dollars for a burger? No thanks. Save your money and eat at Flushing or bring your own stuff. -Unless you want to enlist with the GRA, DO NOT come during the summer and warmer, hotter weather. Pretend Spa Castle doesn't exist during that time. -A lot of things aren't working like they were. A lot of the water pumps and jet streams haven't been fixed since I've been going. This place is a 4 out of 5 IF: -You come during the cold weather (fall and winter) and its actually better to come during that time anyway, trust me. -Come before 11am-12PM or after 7PM (during the hot weather) Other stuff: -The pool is stupid. Come here if you really want to utilize everything else. I'd rather go to a water park or a free NYC pool if I want to be in 3 feet all around. I enjoy this place, the saunas, hot tubs and amenities and when its not infiltrated by the GRA, it can be a very nice experience and relaxing place. I love acting a fool but unlike the GRA, I understand there's a time and place for everything and during the summer you can forgot about having any real quiet time. Again, I want to reiterate that I want to keep this place a 4 since its in my borough of Queens but I guess its something like this: 2 during the summer, 4 during the cold months. Come during the cold months, since the whole point is to be hot when its cold anyway. If you want to get a tan, be next to a pool and all that summer stuff you can easily find better options, and for FREE. Don't spend 40 or 50 to be trashed by trash. read more

Well, it's been over a year since I visited Spa Castle. So, how is it now? I arrived on Friday late afternoon. No line for check in. The check in crew was unusually polite and cordial so I had high expectations. I paid the full $52.00 admission fee including tax and asked for them to check my COVID vaccination card as is required but they waved it off as not being necessary. No baggage check, no metal detector wanding. I entered a glum looking lockeroom and was delighted to see Jamie as the attendant. Jamie has been there through thick and thin at Spa Castle, and is always helpful to guests so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised. I got to my locker which obviously had just been used by a previous guest who had just left. I have yet to see Spa Castle actually sanitize lockers between guests. It's not the fault of the lockeroom attendants, either, because they have no way of knowing which lockers are assigned and which are being are-assigned to new guests. I already knew that Spa Castle was providing NO ammenities. That means NO towels, NO Uniform, NO robe, No Soap, No Shampoo, No Hair Dryer, No hairspray, No combs or brushes, No Toothbrush or Toothpaste, NO Razors, NO Shaving Cream. I decided to put my swimtrunks on and visit the outdoor pools. The two outdoor pools (sit down and standing) were both comfortably warm. The jets were either inoperative or operating non-stop. Wires were exposed in several of the jet controls. Since there were only about 6 other guests at the time, it was easy to find an operative jet throughout. Speaking of the guests: I was surprised at how the guests were practicing "spa etiquette". There was a family with two young children, a teenage girl with 6 of her younger female siblings or friends, and a young professional couple all acting respectful. The outdoor sauna was at 111 degrees, worth a visit to dry off before returning to the building. When the scantily clad "model" arrived in a skin color bikkini with her professional photographer, I decided it was time to leave. Sauna valley had issues. Iceland was at 72 degrees and most of the other saunas were tepid aside from the Loess which was 168, unusually low for it, and Jade which was also at 168. The Men's area, was a mess. The "Hot Pool" was at 99. One of the other jacuzzi pools was only half filled with water and was 89. The "Kiddie Jacuzzi" was at 80. Another Jacuzzi was at 101 but someone apparently put bubble bath (at least I HOPE it was bubble bath) in it and bubbles were flowing everywhere! Gay men were "prancing by" for lack of a better word, frustrated by a lack of a crowd for "steam room sex" although the steam room seemed active anyway. Fortunately, there were no families with young children in the "nude area" today. Water coolers and Water fountains were inoperative allegedly due to COVID. Other Spas in Flushing check COVID vaccination status before entering. They also provide uniforms, towels, toiletries, hair dryers, and water fountains or dispensers to fill water bottles. Spa Castle charges $2.50 for a bottle of Dasani water. It's sad to see how much Spa Castle has deteriorated since its glory days 10 years ago. It might have been able to survive during this past summer due to the popularity of their outdoor pools during warmer weather. Depsite the fact that the pools are comfortably heated even during the coldest winter days, few people have taken advantage of that in past years, and I don't think that Spa Castle is going to survive solely off the "gay steamroom crowd". Sadly, this place needs a major revamping that I doubt if it is going to get. Spa Castle sadly feels like it's in its last days. read more

I have been coming to this location for over 4 years (making at least one visit every 3 months). Spa Castle College Point provided my first Korean-Spa experience, and I can safely say I have fallen in love with the place and the tradition that it represents. I've tried other Korean Spa's (like King Spa), and they paled in comparison. The facility is spotlessly clean, the staff are courteous and ready to assist you with whatever needs or inquiries you might have. I have read a lot on this Yelp feed about the staff here being rude and / or unhelpful. In not one of my 16+ visits over the years have I found this to be true. The experience and facility can be confusing on your first visit, but don't be afraid to ask lots of question prior to or during your visit, and I think you will find that staff members are enthusiastic and glad to help. The range of saunas they have make for a full days-worth of relaxation; the hydrotherapy pools work wonders for muscle tension and stress; and the Spa Services are second to none. I've had both the Swedish and the Deep Tissue massage here and both were incredible and left me feeling limber and refreshed for days. The Estheticians, in particular, are INCREDIBLE. I have read some complaints about the price range for services being a little high, but I strongly disagree. I have had several of the facials here, and they have been far, far better than comparable treatments I've had at even pricier Manhattan day spas. I recommend the Aromatic Organic Peel for anyone who is interested in skin-care maintenance. The Traditional Korean Body Scrubs are off-the-charts! I never even knew it was possible to get skin this soft! (Plus the prices for the scrubs are really reasonable: $50 for a transformative 30 min treatment? Sold!) The Aqua bar is the perfect place to chill and enjoy a drink in a heated pool, the Korean restaurant is fantastic, and the outdoor pools are heated and open year-round (which reminds me of Spa's in Europe, where the contrast between hot and cold temperatures provides for maximum refreshment and leaves one feeling invigorated). The bottom line: when I leave Spa Castle, College Point I feel refreshed, energized, and basically brand new! A big thumbs up for my favorite Spa in NYC: definitely worth the trip! read more

First things first.. I came today with a living social voucher so this isn't about the money at all because my entrance was paid for months ago. But I want to say I think it's greedy that spa castle is charging customers the full price when TWO areas were completely closed down including the kiddie pool (which means all the kids were jumping and DIVING into the regular pools) , and because of that the other areas are more crowded. Half the Jets/Buttons in the outdoor pools aren't working. People shouldn't be paying for services that are not being provided. Also the food used to be so good at spa castle, now the menu is much shorter. I ordered a spaghetti and meatball dish which used to be great but now it was gross. I would have preferred the canned version. The drinks have become disgustingly overpriced. Almost $20 for a Miami vice when the line is ridiculous just to order the drink and the slow service to get it? So many people are crowded into that one small area just waiting for long periods of time. That's insane. I also would suggest that there should be a time limit on the three drinks policy. I understand that you're trying to control people getting out of control.. But someone who paid to be there all day, that got there at around 12 pm and stays until close, should be able to get more than 3 drinks especially because the overpriced drinks are watered down and pretty small... Maybe you should have to wait a an hour or two after the first three drinks before purchasing another? Just an idea. I liked that there was a lifeguard now walking around being vigilant from time to time because security has always been a problem at spa castle (I've been coming here for years) and I love the addition of the meditation room that was very nice. Soooo nice. I had an amazing time today because I had great company and I got my first body scrub - the ladies who do the body scrubs are great! They did an amazing job! But there is still a lot of room for improvement. And a LOT of things that need to be fixed. Ps- I forgot I wrote a review 10 months ago... Still haven't fixed the issue with the Jets not working.. No good. I still love spa castle, I'm still a loyal customer, just a customer praying for improvements to be made lol. read more

The first time I came to this place, I really liked it. Reading the reviews, you can see two types of people who come here: those who don't know how to follow the most basic rules of common space and those who are angry by the lack of enforcement of those rules. Truth be told, there's a lot of ghetto people going there who think it's a public pool. Except they get away with crap that they could not at a public pool. People complaining about the uniforms: guess what? It's a Korean spa. That's how they roll there. Also, the uniform helps to absorb your disgusting sweat so it's not left on every mat, seat and chair of the spa. Who would've thought, huh? I'm still stumped that they had to put a sign that says "do not dye your hair here." What kind of garbage person do you have to be to do that at a spa? Do you think it's your personal bathroom? People taking pictures in the nude area: are you a devolved imbecile? If you can't deal with seeing other people of your own sex naked without commenting on every different body or giggling like you're an eighth grader, perhaps don't come here. Come back when you grow up. People wearing bathing suits in the nude area. Do you not know how to read? You have like seven pools where you can wear your bathing suit, why are you wearing it at the place where it explicitly tells you not to? People with unruly children...what to say. Can you please stop reproducing yourselves? Or at least finish raising yourself before you decide to bring another human to this world? Can you teach your children basic respect for other human beings? You know it's not just you and your family who inhabit this land, right? In all honesty, I can almost understand why the staff treats all of us like garbage. It's because so many people behave like garbage and all of us have to pay for a bunch of uneducated, horny, loud, obnoxious, vulgar, rude, dirty troglodytes. Reading the articles and some comments that talk about people having sex in the pools, or hordes of men masturbating each other in the steam room in the men's sections...what to say. S**t floats too, and sh**ty people seem to be floating on the waters of Castle Spa. read more
I was on a mission to find a spa similar to this one I went to in Japan that had pools with varying levels of heat and water pressure, and this is by far the best I have tried out on the east coast! The facilities are quite clean and very spacious. It's $40 to enter during the weekday and $50 during the weekend, and you are able to use the facilities as you please (massages and scrubs are added-on amenities). They give out watches with your locker number - these watches help lock the lockers and also can be used to pay for food/drinks/massages - pretty high tech stuff. The pool complex is very spacious with heated pools located both outdoors and indoors. The outdoor space is coed whereas the indoor pools are located in the changing rooms and are gender specific/nude. There is also a bar located at one of the outdoor pools and a separate kiddie pool for the youngsters. What I loved about this place was the indoor space - highly recommend if you can get past the nudity part. Most of the pools are higher in heat here (approx. 100-180°F) and 2 of the pools are for cooling down and are approx. 50-70°F. There is also a wet sauna and a dry sauna. Also, the indoor pools are much cleaner!! The food here is gross coming from an asian with expectations of how korean food should be. It is also very expensive. My family and I ordered food at the self-serve buffet for 3 people and it was $70 total - microwavable food might've even tasted better. Water is $2.50 per bottle. There is a free shuttle service between spa castle and Flushing. Specifically the car runs approx. every 30 minutes from Spa castle to the One hotel at Union St and Northern Blvd. The shuttle runs both ways - pretty sweet if you ask me. Advice: -Bring your own towels or its $2 to rent a beach/full sized towel (otherwise they have mini towels which are free to use) -Come during the weekday, its less crowded! Recommendations: I'd have to agree with some yelpers here - management if you are reading this, please have an adults only section so that kids are not constantly interrupting my zen-mode! read more

I had a nice visit at Spacastle on a Sunday during the early morning hours..We arrived very early 8:00 am as to not be surrounded by lots of people and kids.. We spent the day and also had massages.. I was at the Spa two years ago during a week day, also started early morning.. The difference between two years ago and now is big.. Cleanliness, quiet and relaxing atmosphere, less noisy and no running around unsupervised children was how it was two years ago. Staff was always seen cleaning floor areas which made the place shine and smell clean.. This time around it was clean, but not in all areas.. The first floor bathrooms smelled like urine and the third floor pool with the jets and seats had soapy water that gave me an itch and I had to get out..the suds were not white.. My friend convinced me to dip in it later in the day again and the itching got me out right away. Since we arrived early it was quiet until after noon, many people and children arrived. I like the idea of families spending time together at this place, but I mind when I'm spending lots of money to listen and watch screaming kids run around while I try to relax and their parents are blind and deaf to the disturbance they are causing.. Kids were jumping on the couches like trampolines and not only did the parents ignore the annoying behavior of their kids so did the staff... Two years ago staff smiled and were welcoming, now they look at you as if you are a nuisance to them. In all fairness not the masseuse ladies. They were very pleasant and professional.. It's a beautiful place that needs a change in couches now and more security on each floor, enforce NO PICTURE TAKING, yes that also was going on and demand that parents supervise their children even in the bathrooms.. I will go again very early on a week day and leave before the crowd arrives. I will try it one more time only because I live near, but if there is no improvement I know many other Spas that are also great to spend the day pampering myself as I deserve..Hope SpaCastle is reading all the reviews.. read more

I recently visited the facility for the first time, despite the numerous bad reviews on yelp. It's true this spa is not your typical Day spa, and yes its true they do allow children however it's not as overcrowded and dreadful as everyone made it sound. It's Like the Six flags of spas, you welcome to enjoy all of the amenities for as long as you would like after paying the admission fee. There is no time frame and you can enjoy the facility without feeling pressured to purchase spa treatments or someone dictating which order you should enjoy the facility. Its more than just paying for the spa treatments you enjoying so much more. Your enjoying the seven different types of heated dry saunas, indoor body jets pools, outdoor spa pools, and meditation room. At first I was surprised to receive a wristwatch that would act as my locker key and would apparently hold my tab. I placed all my belongings, shoes being separate from my clothes which makes sense( Who wants there outside sneaker s with their clothes)Afterwards you see this staff at the counter for a uniform which consisted of a tee shirt and shorts. The uniform are pretty comfortable and completely make sense( I mean who wants to sweat in their own clothes! ). After spending about 3 hours inside of the facility, enjoying the heated body jets and dry saunas and grabbing a bite to eat. I finally gave in to purchase a 1 hour foot and hand massage. I figured I deserved it after a long weeks of work, the best part the tax and tip are already included in the price so I didn't have to feel awkward calculating tip and worrying about running to my locker for my wallet. The foot massage guy who's name escapes at the time was absolutely AMAZING. When I left here I felt absolutely rejuvenated , and I couldn't believe this is in hidden in Queens. I didn't have to commute far and definitely need to visit at least once a month. If you looking a quick escape this would be the way to go =) read more

Once again I am writing a review for this place. Because i decided to give it another try this past weekend to see if they had improved anything. And not surprising this place is only getting worse. I found out that the reason for all the chaos and miserable employees is because the management is NOT the same anymore. I always loved coming in to check in with Crisely, and then talk to the manager for a while, which was Kevin. We would always talk about random things and his energy was welcoming. I've encountered the managers now, and there is an Arabic girl who I saw was talking in her language while laughing at a customers face. And there is an Asian guy who looks like a high school kid running around in sneakers and jeans, who just walks away whenever he sees a customer step in. I couldn't even take him seriously. My point is, how do you expect to run a place, when you have people like this, who are not engaging and are not even acknowledging frequent customer's presence. It just all seems so boring and it sucks that almost every time I come back, it's new faces and no one knows what they're doing. Simple inquiries take hours to be addressed by who ever is there. It's just stressful at this point, rather than relaxing. I really hope this place gets shut down, because there are so many violations in this place. And I'm actually surprised that after all the complaints, reviews and pictures attached, they STILL don't get closed. I definitely will not be coming back anymore, its about time I close this chapter and look for a new hangout place for my group of friends. Honestly people save your money, $50 or $60 for an admission where you have to test your luck with the water temperatures. Sometimes it'll be cold sometimes if you're lucky it will be warm. Is not the way I want to waste my hard earned money. read more

Beware. The upstairs recreational bathing area is run by the most unprofessional wannabe thug so called life guards. Their behavior is repulsive and it is alarming that the management for this facility would employ individuals who behave and treat paying customers this way. I am a observant Muslim woman. Therefore I do not go into co-ed public areas unless I am appropriately covered. I came to the upstairs bathing area covered. I was approached by one of these thuggish lifeguards and rudely told I needed to take my covering off to be in the water. Then I was directed to an area where I could rent a bathing suit. My religious observance was completely disregarded and disrespected. Ruined my experience and those of my guests. The guards approach ,unprofessional ism ,tone ,lack of customer service was completely inexcusable. I would never recommend this place to anyone I know. So proceed with caution if your religious practices will cause the staff here to be insensitive and rude towards you as well as embarrass you. Religious discrimination. Take the time to properly train your thugged out life guards to deal with the public with respect and courtesy. Also my review is not the only review complaining about the life guards at this facility. You can provide a safe environment without insulting your guests. I suggest training be given immediately this oversight could cost you more than your establishment can bear. A few more of these and I smell a lawsuit. read more

What a cool place. There is definately nothing else like it in the new york city area. For sure worth a visit. The place itself is huge and is very nice. There are tons of areas in the facility. There are the massage areas, pools, sauna, dining, bars. The pools are the highlight of the place. Up on the roof there are a few pools which are very clean, very cute. There aren't huge, but there are not for doing laps. They are just for relaxing and light swimming. There is sundeck surrounding the pools. The decks are also nice. Again, not huge but we found lounge chairs. The bar area is cool. It is right inside from the pools. It is difficult to find pools in nyc that also have a bar! It kind of feels like you are at a resort on a vacation and I love that. The massage areas are very nice and we had a couple of massages and there were really good. The saunas areas look cool but I did not try them. The food area is kind of basic, but the food seemed fresh. It was good. The staff was very friendly. Now....taking public transportation there is a little complex. We had to take the subway then walk to a parking lot. We then had to wait for a shuttle bus. It was really bizarre, but actually kind of fun just because it was so novel! Again, kind of like you are on a vacation. Not your normal daily nyc routine for sure! I recommend it and also think it would be a great place to bring out of town guests. read more

This place used to be a perfect place to get away from hipster purgatory, Brooklyn. Hopping on 7 train for Xi'an's noodle slurp fest then hitting this hidden gem made the long train ride worthwhile. I read about death of an old man at the outdoor pool sometime last year, but this didn't really deter me from returning to Spa Castle last week. I haven't been here for a while. I guess crowd changed a lot since I was here last. What a bummer. Place got some parts remodeled so it looked nice..that is only for first five minutes. But soon I realized there's some trashy Flushing Main Street ghetto shit going down. If I ever wanted trip over disgusting food trash or get annoyed by bitchy loud mouthed girls who yaps nonstop in the dry sauna I would come here...seriously they looked like some chinese gang bangers. It was just like standing on the busy street corner in flushing, people leaving their trash, being pushy and showing zero consideration for others. I guess these people expect others to pick up after their crap since they paid their entrance fee. Hey, if you're going to act like a pig, do it in the privacy of your home. But then again spa castle's got to make money, they can't be choosy about their customers, trashy or classy Enough of my ranting. This place used to be classy and mellow, at least on the weekdays. I will miss you Spa Castle, and I won't be returning. read more

I loved the saunas! They have varying temperatures and different health benefits that they explain on a map. My favorite was the Himalayan salt sauna that was set at a moderately hot temperature. (Tip: Bring in one of the free small towels they provide to use as a pillow, to sit on, or to wipe away sweat.) Our culture is unlike most others and uncomfortable with being naked. But I thought the naked baths (gender-segregated) were great, and it was my first time trying them out. (Tip: I was super uncomfortable at first, but I did find that other people see you, but no one's really looking at you. So eventually realized there's no need to feel so self-conscious.) On weekends, they have rotating special "event baths"; when I went, Saturdays were healing herbs and Sundays were rosewater. The naked baths are located in the same area as the open showers, which enforce a "no towel/uniform/bathing suit" rule, so know that if you want to rinse off after your day but aren't comfortable with being naked in front of other people, you're going to need to wait until you get home. If you'd rather use the pools where you can wear a bathing suit, they're great as well, and you can also hang out with opposite-gender people you came with. (Tip: The massaging jets are great, and a perfectly viable and free alternative to paying $100+ for a half hour massage.) read more

This place is terrible. Management is terrible. I've been to Spa Castle many times over the course of 10 years. A week before my visit, I confirmed that the business has finally re-opened. I was so excited, I purchased six weekday tickets. On the date of choice, I checked again and it states "open" on google so our group started heading out. When we arrived, the business is closed. I was shocked. We had to leave in disappointment. The next day, I called in to see if management could do us a favor and adjust our tickets from weekday tickets to weekend tickets so we can visit the same weekend. However, this is where the terrible customer service kicked in. First, 30 mins on hold. Second, the assistant manager was rude. The only option that was offered was a refund. Which in my opinion isn't the goal of a re-opening establishment. I have six people, everyone will be grabbing food and drinks and possible a massage. Instead of being a little flexible, they rather us not come. I don't understand why a reopening establishment would rather a long term client and his referrals to not come. Take my experience as an example that Spa Castle is not the best option, as we had other choices, we choose spa castle to support the businesses in our neighborhood. We don't feel like we are treated like a neighbor, more so a nuisance. read more

If you knew how amazing this place was when it first opened you would literally cry. I used to frequent this place on a monthly basis when it first opened and it was an oasis an escape from the grittiness of the city until the low life's from the hood came and f...Ed it up for everyone. The last time I was there was like 2 or 3 years after it opened. There were some lowlife women brawling right outside the spa. Who comes out of a spa and starts fighting??? Then you had the nasty hoes humping I'm the pools disgusting!!!! Low class low mentality types taking one of the most wonderful experiences and running it into the ground. The final straw was when I heard and old man had a heart attack in one of the whirl pools on the upper level and there were no people monitoring these pools his body sank to the bottom and was only discovered after a patron stepped on his body while trying to enter the pool . Just horrible. The management is at fault for one allowing people to get away with the behavior which permeated and destroyed an amazing facility and not keeping up those protective restrictions and then just letting the place go. What an absolute shame. If you attending this place in the first two years it opened you know what I'm talking about. read more

Spa Castle offers a variety of saunas, bathtubs, aqua therapy pools, sleeping lounges, spa service, and food and beverages. Spa castle cares about your mental and physical health. Using Spa Castle facility makes you healthier in so many ways. Saunas, Use of the saunas has so many benefits such as weight loss, skin glowing, better digestion, cleansing of the organs, better immune system, etc. Heated aqua therapy pools Use of the heated aqua therapy pools releases muscle tension due to the many different types of water jets located inside the pools. Combine fun with water and get a massage at the same time. Sleeping lounge No doubt, there was a scientific study that proved people who sleep deeply live longer. After rejuvenating your body using the saunas and pools feel free to get some shut-eye in the sleeping lounge. I am sure that after sweating and taking a shower with cured water you will feel that it is time for some relaxation, want to rest, and pass out. The sleeping lounge offers a tranquil environment that allows you to shut out noise and rest without any interruptions, resulting with you falling deeply asleep. These are my guidelines and information on usage of Spa Castle. I hope this is helpful for new comers. Happy New Year^^ read more

I'm a regular at spa castle. I have always enjoyed myself even with the typical complaints cost, noise, kids etc... This time on a Monday I could not overlook the issues. When you go to a spa you want to feel welcomed and relaxed, but the line was long to get in and the staff was unable to handle the crowd. There was no management to direct the situation so it ended up very pushy and loud. They did a nice job in redoing the locker, but what's the point if it's filthy. The vanity area where they provide the lotions, q tips, aftershave was gross. The q tip had grim in the bottom of the clear container they used, it was obvious no one cleaned or wipe out the container before refilling. Most of the lotions were half open and dripping. I also complained about the soap dispensers twice, which was either broken, empty or filled with water. I was basically ignored. The locker and the wet area just needs a good cleaning. I think it's just getting more crowded and the staff just can't keep up, at the same time they are trying to cut corners to save money. They've changed the menu and raised some of the prices, $15.00 or more for fried rice? I really enjoyed my passed visits but I'm not sure if I'll go as often. read more

I feel a bit weird giving the spa castle a one star rating because I loved this place so much.. However things have taken a turn for the worst, and worst yet I don't think it will ever change for the better.. I believe they've taken the quantity over quality approach.. As long as there are hoodrats and a billion screaming kids to fill the place they will continue on there downward spiral.. Cons Closed poolside bar Too many noisy kids Loud people in the sauna Bad staff Bar area (who wants to go all the way upstairs to get a drink) Drink prices ($14 for a plain unmixed drink) Pros If ya go in the winter during the week ya might get lucky and half enjoy yourself when there's not so many people around Overall previous ratings have all been correct the place was amazing a true getaway till the gangsters and hoodrats busted up in there getting drunk and having sex in the pools while there kids scream there faces off stealing all the towels and uniforms that really changed the place lmao.. I'm laughing but it's sad and true after I saw this soap opera unfold before my eyes where one Russian mans wife got drunk and started having sex with some drunk Dominican guy I knew it was the end and so it was.. read more

DO NOT GO if you expect a SPA or a relaxing, clean experience, The staff is beyond rude, misbehaved kids everywhere (there was a woman with an INFANT on her chest in the hot tub!). The food ratings of the facility are an A, B and C! This is an overpriced, unclean bath house. I took the subway from Manhattan and I wish to warn others... The media who all gave glowing reviews of this place should return and see what's it's really about. HORRIBLE. Do not go! Disclaimer: I joined YELP with the intention of writing a poor review of this place to warm others (I attempted to speak with a manager to inquire as to why 20+ patrons were waiting outside in 90+ temperatures for a shuttle to return to the subway but, he flat out refused to look at me let alone engage in productive dialogue. Days later and I am still concerned that I might have picked up some sort of a foot fungus or infection and hoping that the high chlorine in the hot tub killed the semen from the couple clearly grinding next to me (yes, when I realized what they were doing, I got out of the water). Totally gross. If anyone has connections to the health department, let them know a surprise visit would generate tons of income in fines. read more
