My husband and I have been to the spa a few times previously for Spa services which were great. Very clean, nice locker areas and attentive staff. We went back this past weekend for haircuts. I worked with Erin (Gold Star) - I loved my hair cut and the scalp massage was amazing. I will definitely go back to see Erin. My husbands hair cut was okay; he has a beard which the stylist said that she did not experience with. For $47 before tip, he will not be going back. read more

I've been a long-time customer of Debbie's Salons and my family, friends, and co-workers have given me many gift cards over the years. This week I called to make an appointment for myself and a friend. I asked that they check the gift card numbers and was told that both had expired. The total of the two gift cards was $82. As we all know, we've been in the midst of an unprecedented, 19-month pandemic. I was told by the general manager, Marni, that under no circumstances could she extend the date. I asked that she call the owner. She did, and the owner wouldn't extend the courtesy of honoring the gift cards, citing the gift card system wouldn't allow it and Maryland law. It's beyond my comprehension that a business owner, Debbie, would lose a customer over $82, a small amount of money for her business but a large amount for future business. I've alerted my friends and family to never again purchase gift cards for anyone from Debbie's Salons but to please use About Faces as I have a gift card from the same time frame that they've chosen to honor. Marni and the other employee I spoke with at Debbie's Salons were, at times, extremely rude, condescending, and talked over me several times. Because of your attitude of indifference, you've lost this customer. Obviously this attitude comes from the owner and she hasn't learned that Customer satisfaction = success. read more

I LOVE this spa! I used to get my nails done at the Spa on the Avenue by Nancy T. Nancy moved to the Boulevard (which is closer to my home anyway.) and I followed her. In addition to being a beautiful space, their services are top notch. Nancy is the best nail technician that I have ever had. She is always suggesting new colors and treatments and gives a wonderful hand massage. I can't wait to try out the beautiful new massage area. If you live in Harford County, you MUST visit this spa. I would highly recommend this spa. I visit the Hunt Valley location with friends adn with family. I love that they have a soaking pool/steam room/sauna area you can use prior to your services for free (or solo for a fee). I have heard that the eucalyptus room is not always turned on first thing in the am (so you may want to call and verify) but I have never experienced this problem. This relaxation area is the only one I have ever found in the area. I have had facials and waxing services here. I love the atmosphere and have always found the spa courteous. I remember having waxing done by the owner Debbie, over 20 years ago when i was in my teens and she was working out of a tiny tiny room. I am so glad to see that her wonderful services have flourished into this elegant and relaxing spa. read more

After my friend stopped doing hair in her house, I had to find a salon (and unfortunately start paying salon prices). I found this place because I had a spafinder gift card and they were one of the few in the area to accept them. (Side note - you can buy $100 worth of Spafinder cards for $79.99 at Costco). I was able to get an appt for the exact day and time I wanted and saw a "platinum" artist. I was VERY pleased with my hair color and cut!! And you get a relaxing head massage during the shampoo. I can only rate on the massage which was one of the best massages I've ever had. My masseuse was Angela and she was fantastic. This location is bigger and more spa like than white marsh and hunt valley. I just moved here so I'm excited to try other services a well. Prices are on the high side but so far the massage was worth it. Front desk girls are a little flighty, though. Tip: never go to the hunt valley location (not worth it!!)....make the extra trip to this bel air one. read more

My friend bought me a $100 gift card for my birthday. I can to redeem the services in the spa. When I attempted to use the gift card, there were no funds. Upon investigation, my friend was paying her her hair appointment and the women checking her out told her she had a gift card of $100 dollars on her account. She told them she didn't have any. They laughed and teased her about not remembering someone giving her a gift card. She eventually used it. Needless to say, it was my gift. When they figured it out. No on apologized for their mistake or the inconvenience I was put through. They blamed my friend and not their staff for making the mistake. I will not return if they cannot manage their own computer vending system and have common Curtesy to new clients. read more

Arrive 20 min before my appt. Start filling out my paper work. Massage therapist tells me just the top part is fine and takes me to change... I am feeling a little rushed but no biggie. Laid down she doesn't ask if I have any areas bothering me. But I'll blame this on myself for not speaking up. She asks what level of pressure and I said med/deep... And then the experience tanks... I couldn't unwind bc she had the noisiest shoes... She was clopping like a horse around the room! And as for the med/deep pressure it was like she was petting me. Barely any rhythm to the massage and she only did one arm?!? She thanks me and heads out never to be seen again. I go back to the locker room that I had to find myself and change and look at my phone and it's been 45 min... So much for the hour massage. I will not be back for $90 I was hoping for a little more. read more

I was looking for something special to do with my daughter and mom before my mom travels back to Arizona after the holidays. This was the only place out of 15 that I called that could see us all at the same time. We arrived 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork and get changed. The salon is beautiful and so inviting. Our first interaction with the front desk girl, Kylie, was fabulous, she was friendly, attentive and just very sweet and nice in explaining the process, since this was our first time. She took our sizes, gave us robes and flip flops and showed us to the changing room. She explained everything from how to use the lockers to where the sauna and lounge rooms were. We got changed, and chose to sit in the lounge area. It was nicely decorated and I could just tell we were in for a real treat. Our estheticians came to get us and showed us to our individual rooms. The rooms were dimly lit and soft music was playing. Brianna was my esthetician and she was FABULOUS! My mom was with Megan and my daughter was with Christine. Brianna asked what areas I was concerned with and then explained what she would be doing. It was one of the most amazing hours of my life. Both my mom and daughter were equally happy with their service and raved about the salon, their esthetician and the amazing facials. I will definitely be back and when my mom is back in town, I'll bring her back too. Overall, it was the perfect way to spend my moms last day in town. I received a gift card for christmas and decided to treat my friend to a manicure and myself to a pedicure. We were very excited, considering we are used to going to nail salon instead of a spa. Upon entering we were greeted by some very rude blonde haired girl that said very loudly to her co-worker "I wouldn't want those girls" as we were sitting waiting for our nail technicians. Shortly after waiting just a couple minutes, a different lady escorted both of us to the area that we would be receiving our spa treatment. I was paired with a young lady named Brittany, who was excellent; very nice, gentle, and great at her job. As you can imagine, I was very apprehensive to have anyone touch me after the side comment made by the girl at the front desk, but I am very glad I persevered. Brittany gave me the best pedicure I have had in my life, and I look forward to visiting her again in the future. I hope this review is seen by the management and they address the negative attitude of the girl who greeted us. I would have definitely walked out had I not had a gift card, but now that I have had the satisfaction of Brittany's pedicure spa treatment I will definitely be back again. Worth the extra money, I just hope I don't have to deal with bad attitudes of front desk employees next time. read more

Today was my first visit to spa on the boulevard. I've had my hair done by the same person for 10 years, but grew tired of traveling to see her. I was extremely nervous to try someone new. The very kind and patient receptionist set me up with Courtney who listened to everything I had to say and asked about my daily hair habits to give me the perfect color and trim! This was by far the roughest and least relaxing facial of my life. I explained that my face was sensitive and they proceeded to scrub my face with some abrasive exfoliant. In addition, they actually washed my face twice in this insanely rough manner that actually hurt. This woman rubbed my cheeks so hard that my face is still swollen and I had the facial 2 hours ago. This is a beautiful facility, but I would never return for a facial nor would I ever recommend it. read more

Poor service or should I say no service for walk in customers. Not good for making no customers

I brought a photo of the haircut I wanted and the stylist assured me it could be done. I left with some weird cross breed between a bowl cut and a mullet. Before you read further check out my photo (a side by side comparison that says "Asked for this. Got this."). Being that the salon has such great reviews online, is beautifully decorated, and is very expensive ($57!), I assumed I would get a great haircut here. Prior to coming to this salon, I had happily gone to the same hairdresser for two years, but I moved away. The first time I went here (May 2016) my haircut was so-so. Not terrible but nothing special, either. I thought that by requesting a more experienced stylist my second time, I would have a better outcome. Unfortunately, this was the second worst haircut in my life! On 12/03/2016, BUFFY chopped my hair. I went in with a photo of what I wanted. She assured me it could be done. I explained my hair texture to her and told her in very certain terms that I wanted soft, blended layers as shown in the picture I brought. I told her specifically that I wanted nothing blunt or choppy about my hair. As I sat in her chair, she went on and on about the texture of my hair being difficult to work with (thick, coarse and wavy). This made me feel very uncomfortable and self-conscious. She asked me if I would like for it to be thinned a little bit and I agreed. In every haircut I've had prior to this, the hairdresser used thinning shears after cutting my hair. This time however, Buffy took a razor blade right next to my roots and started slicing away. Now I have short, itchy layers that are only about an inch long all through the bottom half of my hair. When she was done cutting my hair, it was completely crooked an uneven. There were really only two "layers"- a short top layer and a long and thin bottom layer. I told her it looked bad and asked her to even it out. She looked shocked that I didn't like it. Y'all, it looked like a crossbreed between a bowl cut and a mullet! To "fix it" she grabbed a fistful of hair and took one blunt slice off! Now the top layer is even shorter. I complained to a manager and the salon refused to reimburse me. Instead, they offered to have a manager try to fix my hair. Understandably, I had lost all faith in the salon at this point and didn't want anyone else who works there to ever touch my hair again. But, I had no other choice as they did not want to give me my money back. I went to see Tiffany a few days later. For the most part, I am happy with my hair now. I think she did a good job working with what was handed to her. I feel that I would have had much better results had I gone to Tiffany in the first place. It's not the haircut I wanted. The layers are way shorter than I ever wanted (ear length) to go, but at least it doesn't look like the bowl cut mullet anymore... read more

Recently had a massage here with Sarah Anne. Overall extremely positive experience. I had high expectations for this new spa having been a client of Spa in the Valley in the past. The amenities here are by far the best in the Harford County area that I have experienced as far as a true full service day spa/salon goes. There are many salon and spas in Bel Air, but most if not all, do not have the amenities that Spa on the Boulevard offers. The amenities include a tranquility space, sauna, swiss shower-I think, and vichy showers for the full body treatment experience. The spa is pretty much brand new and it shows, the space is lovely and inviting. The service was excellent, customized to meet my individual needs, something that I have found this chain excels at delivering. Sarah Anne did a wonderful job. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and will be booking a return appointment for this month. read more

Inefficient. Sloppy. Rude. I recently went in to Spa on the Boulevard for a haircut. I usually go in for their products, eyebrow waxing, and the overall convenience factor of the salons location. I can now confidently say that I am not coming back, nor will I recommend this spa to anyone. My appointment was at 7pm. I get there on time, check in at the front desk, and am asked to have a seat. 7:15 rolls around and I'm still not seen. I don't say anything because I'm a patient person and am thinking maybe they're just super busy that night. In the meantime, I see the stylist and the same girl that checked me in frantically asking "where her 7:00 is?" (Me. I'm her 7:00). The girl at the front desk proceeds to say, "she must be stuck in traffic, let me call her." I have my phone in my lap, sitting right in front of this girls nose as she calls MY phone. I walk to the front desk, phone in hand, and show her my screen glowing with the salons number, calling me. AGAIN, this is the SAME GIRL that checked me in 15 min earlier, who looked at my face, and told me to have a seat. She looked at me again and said "you must have forgotten to check in." #FacePalm. I just had a long day and was already tired enough at this point - so I wasn't having any of this. This isn't off to a good start. Then, the stylist comes over, sits me in the chair, and takes my hair out of it's ponytail to see the length. The first words from her were "Girl, you don't have much hair." You know, something every woman wants to hear. She basically indicated that she couldn't cut my hair the way I wanted because I have "fine hair," according to her. I have never had this happen to me before. Clearly, 'the customer is always right' saying does not apply to this establishment so far. Another girl takes me to get my hair washed, and I come back to the chair. The stylist brushes my hair and says "do you usually shed THIS much?" Another insensitive comment. What if I had a medical condition in which I loose hair? She doesn't know that. Either way, any of that commentary should have gone unsaid. The more she cut my hair, the more insensitive comments came out. "See, I have to use this type of shear, and this type of razor and cut away lightly because your hair is just SO thin." By the time she was done, I felt so self conscious and the total opposite of how any woman should feel when coming out of the salon, which is beautiful. I felt hair-shamed, and immediate and deep remorse for wanting to get my hair done there. After my cut was finished, around 8pm(ish), I paid $75 dollars for an awful experience that'll only get worse. My form of payment is a $60 pre-paid MasterCard that I just needed to get rid of, and the remaining balance on my debit card. I told the girl at the front desk (different than the one who checked me in) to put only $60 on the MasterCard and the remaining on my debit. She botched the transaction and had to call another front desk agent - the same girl who checked me in. She takes my pre-paid card into an office to call a manager to figure out what had just happened, and I'm there standing and waiting for 30 more painful minutes. I just want to cry because I'm tired, and just sat in a chair for 40 min taking what I consider to be offensive comments about my hair. The girl finally comes back from speaking to a manager 30 min later, and asks if she could swipe my debit card to keep on file in case the pre paid transaction didn't go through for whatever reason. So, I comply. I'm just so whatever at this point. Later, I called the salon to speak with a manager about my experience and I had asked for a refund. She said they couldn't, and that it was 'against their policy' to refund clients and that the best she could do was offer me a free haircut. This info is not on the receipt regarding SALON services, but she was telling me that it was - again, as a customer, I'm in the wrong. She was kind and I told her that I'd think about it, and give her a call. After some thought I decided to go to a completely different salon so they could fix my hair, and it looks great now. I called the manager back and said I would not like to move forward with a 'free' haircut and that my business will be no longer with the Spa on the Boulevard for anything. I wanted to keep pushing for a refund. She repeatedly apologized and would talk over me when I tried to vent my frustrations and she just kept pushing a gift card - which I kept declining. She wouldn't listen to what I was telling her, and kept repeating the same insincere apology, and then would just go silent. It's such poor taste that they don't offer the client a money back guarantee, like so many other places offer, if you aren't satisfied. If you got food poisoning from a restaurant, and all the manager could do was offer you the same, free meal, would you want to go back and risk eating that same thing over again? So thanks, Spa on the Boulevard for eating my $75. Hope it tasted good. read more

This is my new go to spa for all of my services! The staff has always been beyond friendly, and helpful. I see Kris for my waxing services, and not only is she extremely efficient, she made me feel completely comfortable given the nature of the waxing. I've gone to most all of the areas "biggest" spas and salons, and I feel like this one has the best staff, and also, I felt taken care of from start to finish. Thank you ladies! read more

Recently had a really bad experience in this salon. A silver Level hair stylist literally butchered my hair. Asked her to do layers in my hair and bangs with layers. All she did was take of 3 inches of my hair..no layers. For the bangs, she took few inches from the length of my hair near forehead. She was done with everything in 20 mins. If your employees can't work past 7, please don't force them to. I can see them in a hurry to leave the place. It's a shame that you charge $48 for the crappy work you do. Would never ever return to this horrible salon and would never recommend to anyone. Even super cuts would do the job better than you. read more

This place is absolutely beautiful inside! For my birthday, I decided last minute that I wanted to get my very first massage. I walked in with no appointment and they took me right back. The changing room is beautiful. I undressed and put on the super soft robe and slippers that were provided to me and then walked over to the "waiting area". There were a bunch of chaise's with pillows and blankets, a relaxing and gorgeous area. A few minutes later the masseuse came and walked me to the massage room. Upon entry, it was immediately relaxing. The lights were really low, there were candles lit, relaxing music playing and best of all the table was heated. This might be how all massage places are but since it's my first one, I was thoroughly impressed. I loved the entire experience. The massage was amazing!! And the staff is very friendly. If you want relaxation and pampering, this is the place to visit!! read more

This place sucks. They are so rude to their customers and employees. I went there for a simple cut and wash and instead I came out bald!!! My stylist was clearly new and under immense workplace stress most likely due to her boss who was hovering over her until she decided to finally leave for 30 minutes and came back smelling of cannabis. During those 30 minutes my stylist managed to completely burn off my hair with bleach I did not even ask for! I immediately started yelling and my stylist argued with me until her boss came out and demanded I pay and leave immediately. I grabbed my purse and headed for the door, but the boss grabbed my arm and attempted to reach into my purse to get my wallet. I kicked her and ran out and called my local authorities. I think it's safe to say I will never in my life be returning to this garbage pile of a "hair salon". I wouldn't recommend this place if my life depended on it. And I only put one star because zero is not an option. read more

I was a walk-in appointment on a Sunday and they were able to fit me in for a hair cut and color. First of all, the salon is beautiful, large and airy, and in a very convenient location. I hadn't colored my hair in over 10 years but was feeling adventurous and wanted to change things up. Brooke was wonderful. She gave me a consultation and we discussed color options. She made up a custom one that she thought would work best with my coloring. I love my new deep reddish brown hair and my hair is softer and healthier looking than it has been in a long time. DON'T GO TO THIS SPA! I went for a waxing appt and the parking is no where near the entrance, the staff that welcomed me didn't offer a drink, tell me how long the wait was, even show me where the bathroom was. The actually waxing appointment was terrible too - one I have gotten twice as much done in an hour as she did in an hour and a half. I told her my eyebrows where sensitive and she burned them anyway - and one of the worst burns I ever had. And I still have wax in my hair from the eyebrow waxing. The whole thing was unprofessional and while the building looks new and nice and big - its decorated with cheap IKEA style furniture so give it a couple months and the quality won't hold up. I booked this spa as a gift for my cousin graduating and I saw good reviews on yelp. I arrived early as requested to fill out paper work. The people at the front desk and the spa front desk seemed annoyed and not friendly. Little direction as to where we were supposed to go. My appointment was at 12. We were sitting aimlessly waiting alone. Someone comes back to get my cousin after about 20 minutes. I am then informed my person went on lunch and got in a fender bender. That was it. I was not given another masseuse, no explanation nothing. Almost an HOUR past my time she shows up. At this point I am so frustrated I could not even relax. I was not offered a discount- nothing. Aromatherapy was a free part of the massage. I said I like clean and light smells- what was provided to me smelled like a cigarette. Not a horrible massage but certainly not the best. I could hear people chatting outside of the room and the toilet flushing- not relaxing. I also received a facial which was nice. I informed the woman I had never had one and would have liked a bit more explanation of what was being done. The exfoliating sponges smelled a bit mildewed. I am not sure I would come back. I understand accidents happen but do not think it was handled properly at all. Waiting almost an hour for an appointment is absurd. I was more agitated than anything and did not enjoy my day. read more

The facilities are very nice, but I have very mixed reviews on this place. First, I am a fan of the nail salon and plan to continue to get my manis and pedis at the Spa on the Boulevard. I haven't had any spa treatments, but I do plan to try one. As far as the hair salon goes, though, I am NOT a fan. First, I went recently in a pinch because I had a party to go to and realized my roots looked terrible (a simple single process color) . I told the colorist how important it was for her to not to stain my forehead because I had this party to attend, and she mockingly said she is a professional and not to worry. She smeared this thick gel all over my forehead, except at my hairline, which made no sense to me at all and made my sensitive skin break out. Then, I told her to use the Aveda color line and as she started putting the color on my hair and I smelled the strong smell of amonia she told me she was using the Wella line. Gee, thanks. After I was shampooed and returned to her station she asked me how I wanted my hair blown out. I told her to use a round brush and add some volume. When all was said and done I had a majorly stained hairline, a hair style I could have done myself (no volume), roots that are a different color than the rest of my hair, and a completely stained left ear. To top it all off, when I checked out I was charged over $100 because apparently a blow out and shampoo do not come standard with a single process color. What???!! That makes NO sense. I stormed out and didn't tip, I was so turned off. My grays would have looked better at the party. Don't get your color done here!!!!!!!! And p.s. I had a "Platinum" stylist. Riiight. read more

I love this place! I had a facial that was pure bliss, making my winter-tired skin look and feel amazing and bright! Diane M is a wonderful and talented esthetician. I had a massage with Katie who is a natural healer with her touch and sensitivity to the tension in the muscles. I was so relaxed when I left and stayed in the zone for several days. Heaven! I went to "A Salon by Debbie" in Bel Air for a pedicure (Birthday gift from a friend) and was very disappointed. The spa is beautiful but the service is way below good customer service standards. The pedicure was $45.00 and the individual who performed the service was not very friendly and my 8 year old niece could have done a better job on the nail color application. At the beginning of the pedicure I asked if she had time to do a manicure, she said yes, but forgot about my request. (Lost that sale !!!!) I would not waste my money going here when you can get a higher quality pedicure at a regular local manicurist. Sorry "Salon by Debbie" but I will not recommend you to any of my friends or family. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE (Kacie) !!!!! Recently, I spontaneously decided to get a massage so I called Spa on The Boulevard to see if they had any openings for that day. They had an appointment in 1.5 hours from when I called -- I took it. I was given Kacie as my therapist. I explained to Kacie that I was there strictly for relaxation, went over my personal issues and talked about what I like and don't like. I had the best massage I've had locally in 15 years. In my 15 years of living in Harford County, I have never gone back to the same place or person. This time was much different. Kacie was AMAZING. She gave the best massage -- very relaxing with just the right amount of pressure. She was so good, I booked my next appointment before I left. Next time I will be getting a 90 minute massage. Used to go ALLLLLL the time, constantly, and have had so many services here over the years since they first opened. Noticed over time, they have such a high turnover rate of employees, and the service has just gotten worse and worse to the point where I am not interested in going back. Very unfortunate and sad, both for me and for them, as I've given them a ton of business and referrals over the years, but there has been a noticeable decline in the quality and professionalism of service to the point where I just can't bring myself to keep giving them my business anymore. read more
