Treated myself mid week to a much needed massage! It was a little hard to find them to be honest within the Domain, they're tucked away in a little corner with not the best signage. But don't let the small office vibe once you enter deter you. Once inside they have a locker room area for you to change and store your stuff. They also provide a nice lounge area for you to relax before and after your massage. Upon walking in, my masseuse was Abby, and she was great. She was sweet and asked me about focus areas and honestly even though I had a Swedish massage she used a good amount of pressure really working on my problem areas. I left feeling extremely relaxed and less tense. After the massage I went to the hammam for a bit which was recommended to soothe the muscles and let the oils set in. It's essentially like a higher steamed version of a sauna. It was great and I was able to relax and take it all in, only thing is you get really humid and hot in there so if you don't want your hair to get soaking wet or you have a hard time breathing it may not be for you. I'd definitely recommend this for a special occasion or a gift to someone. The prices are pretty high, so don't think it'd be my go to frequent massage place, but definitely one when you want to treat yourself a little extra.

*Be warned this is a long one & I apologize in advance.* I would describe my recent deep tissue massage therapy experience at Spa Reveil on 05/28/2022 as "just okay" at best & honestly, that might even be a stretch. This was not expected at all because all of my previous massage experiences at Spa Reveil were all really awesome & worth every penny. I was definitely disappointed this time around because I had a gift certificate given to me that I was so excited to finally get to use & not only was I REALLY looking forward to some relaxing "me time", I was also in need of some relief of painful muscle tension that I had in my upper shoulders/back/neck area caused by exercise & just poor posture while working remotely on a laptop for long periods of time (insert frustrated sigh). Because of the pandemic, it had been a few yrs since my last massage so I was feeling a little bit unsure & anxious about the process (Am I supposed to be full nude or not?? What were those instructions again on how to program my security code for the locker?? Am I supposed to be wearing my mask while in here??) and having the massage therapist not introduce herself to me did nothing to help put me at ease or help w/ making me feel comfortable w/ her. So when she started to massage me while I was laying facedown on the massage table (she didn't ask me how the pressure was) I was initially hesitant to speak up to tell her that every time she pressed on my shoulders, it was causing my throat/windpipe to be pushed down into the edge of the massage table, making it hard to breathe & uncomfortable but once I told her, instead of her telling me what to do to remedy the issue, I had to suggest that me moving up on the table might fix it. This suggestion was me just guessing. My suggestion of moving up did help a little bit but not completely & at that point, she did suggest to raise my head position, which finally fixed the issue. I was also having a hard time fully relaxing because the majority of the time, the overhead lights in the room were kept on & not dimmed. They were only dimmed towards the end of my session when I turned on my back (not sure if this is usually how it is done or not). Another contributing factor in not being able to fully relax is that once she started to massage me, she didn't ask me if the pressure was good or not so she could then adjust the pressure, like all of the previous massage therapists have done. The pressure was way to light & not doing anything so after waiting a little bit to see if she was going to start giving more pressure (she didn't), I told her that the pressure was to light & asked if she could give more pressure..she replied "you sure?"..my response: yes Lastly, when the massage therapist sat & stood at my head to massage my neck & upper extremities, she had a very strong food smell coming from her mouth that I could smell through her mask & it was right in my face every time she took a breath. I don't know what it was but it was so strong that w/ me being someone who is very sensitive to overpowering scents & odors (so much so that they can cause headaches) I just tried my best to hold my breath & when that wasn't working, I did my best to regulate my breathing to be the same as hers. Thankfully, after a short time she moved along to massaging my legs. To sum it up, I was really wanting/needing a deep tissue massage to help give relief of the painful tension in my shoulder, neck, back area & I don't feel that I didn't received one because I didn't feel refreshed afterwards & my body still has so much tension in it. This is very frustrating because I'll most likely have to pay more money to go get another deep tissue massage elsewhere to finally get some relief. Please note that the purpose of this review is not to bash the massage therapist...I'm giving this feedback in hopes that these things can be improved for the next customer. Thanks, ~Rebecca

Proof that I didn't receive confirmation of my appointment despite what the owner said. This establishment is laughable.

I'm sorry but for the area I was expecting more of a luxury experience for the price. Maybe do a little upgrade for the aesthetics. The massage was decent but I don't think it's anything I will leave San Antonio to experience again. I think it is just something to say I tried. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any reminders or emails confirming the appointment. I called when we arrived into town on Saturday during business hours and no one answered. I wanted to confirm if we even had an appointment since they had my credit card on file. I had to wake up the day of the appointment on Sunday to call as soon as they opened to confirm we had an appointment. My massage therapist never asked me how the pressure was. It was very hard when I asked for mild- moderate pressure. I usually wear underwear during my massage but don't wear a bra. My therapist completely disregarded the boundary line of wearing underwear and pushed them over. A major portion of my massage was spent tending to my buttocks. This wasn't good or bad just never had an experience like this. I had to ask for the table warmers to be turned on but it didn't really do any good because the majority of the time I was exposed so she could massage my butt area. I'm use to when I get massages for them to reveal the area they are working on and keep the other areas covered. So it was hard to stay warm. Update to the owner's response 5/26: if you look at the text message I received there is no apt info. I even tried requesting info. Now this morning 5 days after the apt I get a message welcoming me to the online concierge. I should have read the reviews prior. This business clearly takes no responsibility for their mishap.

This was my first time tried this place and it was great experience. I would recommend you that make appointment before you go. They have a lot of different massage and I tried hour for sports massage and hour deep tissue massage. I didn't know which one was popular massage at this place and I decided tried two different massage same day. It's possible there and you don't have to wait for another extra time. The staffs were very accommodating and welcome you. Very clean and modern interior and you can choice your favorite herbal flavor for oils. The sports massage was great and she really good job with me. I felt really relieved and comfortable during the session. Also of course deep tissue massage was great for my muscle pain. She really focuses on where exactly I had pain for. When I done sports massage and had to go to relax area and 5mins waited there for deep tissue massage therapist came to me. Enjoyed water or tea or coffee. Price was little higher but it worth it.

When I arrived, staff seemed confused by my appointment and the vibe immediately felt awkward. I requested a male masseuse which was accommodated at first. During the massage, the owner interrupted the session to have me redo paperwork while I was face down and topless on the table because I forgot to write the date instead of asking me afterwards. Later, the door was opened multiple times while I was actively being massaged face down so staff could casually talk to the therapist for almost an entire minute. At one point they apparently switched massage therapists entirely without informing me or asking for consent -- suddenly a woman, instead of the man I began with, was talking to me and I had no idea someone else was touching me. One therapist was coughing throughout the session, and another handled my body very aggressively, moving my legs without warning and forcing my hypermobile knees into uncomfortable positions. My neck hurts today afterward. The worst moment was when I was flipping over and the door opened AGAIN while I was completely exposed on top. No explanations or apologies. Overall the entire experience felt chaotic, invasive, unprofessional, and deeply uncomfortable. Honestly I feel violated. I've never had a massage where multiple people worked on me without explanation, the room was repeatedly interrupted, and my privacy felt so disregarded.

It had actually been almost 5 years since I had last seen her and after a recent apartment move, I needed her services for my aching body! It was like visiting an old friend and I remembered just how awesome of a person she is and that I should not have let so much time go by without visiting her. A mistake I will try to not repeat even though I have to leave Austin temporarily. She is able to provide the most gentle touch, as well as deep therapeutic pressure for those stubborn knots that don't work with anything else. I have always felt that her skills make me feel relaxed even though I need her stronger touch throughout the session at some points. Her massage room is super cozy and will help you feel completely at ease. Oh, and one final note for those that are more self conscious or don't like to bare all of their goodies! Susanna let's you undress to your level of comfort and always provides a blanket to keep you covered regardless of how bare you go! Don't worry about leaving all oily either. However, I can honestly say that Susanna at Escape Massage & Spa is the most thorough and hard-working massage therapist that I have experienced to date, hands down. I've been here twice now, the sessions are so extensive that I find my usual 15-20% tip range just isn't worthy, she deserves more, and I happily oblige. Here's why: - Her sessions are like a continuous methodical flow of kneading and massaging out the kinks with minimal stops and pauses. She has a great work ethic, I told her she's like the Energizer Bunny version of the wooden smiley-face massage roller - - keeps going and going.... - The Right Tools: She utilizes her hands, palms, fingertips, knuckles, and forearms to ensure you're getting the full blown arsenal. Her massage oil has no scent, doesn't stain your clothes, there's none of that excess greasy effect you feel at the end. She uses just enough to glide but not too slippery. - She always spends ample time on the trouble spots, in my case the lower left back and up along the spine, and yet she still makes the time to massage out the rest of your body. She doesn't cut you short. - Awesome foot massage. What an awesome job on the feet! I find most therapists skim it or do a half-ass job, but not Susanna - who's very thorough and consistent. She said she practices a lot on her mother , who formally requests it. - Overdelivers. In my two sessions (maybe it's luck or scheduling) she's gone well over our scheduled time and didn't make me feel rushed. I totally lost track of time and she genuinely wanted to make sure I felt like I got real therapy and was happy. - One of her customers nicknamed her the "spine-crusher", as her deep pressure is very effective yet she balances it out w/ the delicate to medium pressure which I generally prefer. - Great personality. Very positive, talkative, and makes you feel comfortable. She works on trying to establish a rapport and r-ship with her clients. - Toxin Avenger. I feel the full effect of the toxins being released after her massages. I'm usually in a trance-like state, I need a gallon of water to recuperate. If I had my date w/ me that would be the optimal time to take advantage and ask for my credit card to go shopping. Too eeeeasy. One caveat to know is the location and set-up, which is a room in the Day's Inn that's been converted into a massage studio. My first appointment I was thinking they had an actual spa and the works, but when I got there I was confused because I got directed to an actual room. Turns out she works at the Day's Inn full time in administration, got her LMT certification and worked w/ the hotel to convert a room into her 2nd job. It's well done, there's a quality massage table w/ warmer, bathroom w/ shower, a futon, music, humidifier. No dance floor or strobe-lights (sorry). It may not be the posh high-end-day-spa-look that some may appeal to, but I could care less. I'm there for a quality massage, not for interior design and decor, and it meets all of my requirements: clean, quiet, private, and comfortable. Her appointments are limited as she explained she paces herself to avoid potential for burn out, so she balances it w/ her other job. I can't say enough about Susanna's quality massage skills and customer service, she always goes above and beyond and that's more than worthy of a 5-star experience.

I used to get massages on a regular basis but fell off the massage wagon. A friend of mine highlighted that she has gotten massages once a month for the last 14 years. I was definitely behind the 8 ball on massages. My friend's long-term revelation was eye-opening, so I decided to get a massage today with Green Care Massage, which is located on W. Parmer, next door to Tomo Sushi. My massage choice was a deep tissue massage. Those polls are not for curtains!!! When my massage therapist asked me could she work on my back, I thought, I said yes. What she actually said was can I "walk" on your back. In my head, I was thinking why do her hands feel like feet...because they were feet! Snappity, snap, snap...I was getting a full on Ashiatsu massage (also known as back walking massage or barefoot massage). If you are not aware, Ashiatusu is a technique where the massage therapist uses their feet to apply deep pressure while holding onto overhead bars for balance and control. The word "Ashiatsu" is a Japanese word meaning (ashi=foot and atsu= pressure.) Apparently, my back was so tight I needed Ashiatsu first. My massage beginning to end was incredibly effective and rejuvenating experience. From the moment the session began, it was clear the massage therapist was highly skilled and knew her craft. The deep, slow strokes and focused techniques worked through my knots and tight muscles, especially in my back and legs. While there were moments of intensity that you would expect with deep tissue work, it was never painful (pressure...no pain). Afterward my body felt like it had exhaled and breathing fresh air.... well worth the time and money. I could feel the tension evaporating with each targeted movement. It is important note, I felt soreness in my neck and back during the massage that I did know existed previously. After the massage session, I noticed a significant improvement in my mobility and range of motion. My usual stiffness had disappeared. The rocks were way too hot, they were burning when she put them in my back. The massage table was horrible. I kept on having to move bc my forehead was hurting. On the check out, the credit card tip was only set to 35% ir higher unless you customize. Do NOT go there. It's a waste of money and time
