I was so happy once I got my Groupon. The therapist Chris was amazing. Then later to find out she was gone when I wanted to make my next apoitment. I called at least 5 times and left messages and no one ever called me back. The owner said "Well we are very busy" I said that is fine I will take my business elsewhere. I really wish I would have read all the reviews here BEFORE I considered the Groupon, which appears to be such a great deal. The grief involved is NOT worth it. I found the Groupon deal for $85 (facial, massage, hand treatment, eye treatment). seems to be their standard package. When I called, I was asked to not buy the Groupon, but rather schedule through them and get the same price. That was fine with me and I scheduled for the next week. I came at my scheduled time, was given the paperwork, led to the back room to a couch where another client was also waiting. The manager/owner came in and said "ladies, we have a situation". The massage therapist had to leave suddenly and neither one of us would be getting a massage that day. I had cleared that particular day with kids' schedules, my schedule, etc. to get the complete spa package and had also driven 40 min to get to Spa Zara. He offered to have me receive the facial and eye treatment that day and come back another day for the massage and hand treatment. I reluctantly agreed and scheduled the massage for about 10 days later. Today I went in for the massage. I arrived early for my 3:00 appointment (again, I had driven 40 min to get there), was given the paperwork, and led back to the room again to sit on the couch. I sat for 10 minutes and thought maybe they are running behind. After 15 minutes went by, I went back to the front and asked how long it would be. The answer was "just a few min". I pointed out to him that he never mentioned they were running behind when I came in (which I would have appreciated--and he could have had the decency to mention). I went and sat again-- for another 15 min. By that time, I was extremely upset because I'm sitting there for 30 min watching TV in the back room. I went up to the front and questioned him again. He said that the previous client had come in late. This is NOT my problem. If the client had been that late, he should have made them reschedule. That would have been the proper way to manage that situation instead of knowingly putting the next client behind by 30 min. He asked me if I could wait 5-10 min longer. I asked him for my money back from the "groupon" deal I had paid for the first time I was there. He refunded some of the money and I left. This was the visit that was supposed to make everything better that went wrong from the first visit. I do not recommend this place to anyone. No sense of customer service. read more

I purchased a groupon had no problem making an appt but I scheduled a few weeks in advance. I LOVED my massage from Pasquale he was amazing will return for that only. My facial was awful the girl was not professional at all!! She left the room 3 times two of which left the door open and was talking loud in the hallway. I work in a salon and spa and know proper protocol. The spa is nice inside was clean and conveniently located for me. read more

Horrible Place! Horrible Service! Horrible Employees! Horrible Owner! Overall, a total horrible experience. Beware if you buy a GROUPON and go to this place, the owner taxes you on the original price that he has for the deal you bought which is highly illegal in the state of NJ. You should not be taxing on the original price. He is a crook! Also if he does tax you then ask him for a detailed receipt that says that he is taxing you on an original amount (which is illegal) therefore he does not provide that to you. I bought a Groupon for my husband and I. We went for an aroma massage and facial. Not what we expected definitely should have followed the reviews that were written before. The facial was supposed to be for an hour but ended up being only 20 mins, the person who did the facial kept leaving every 10 mins and coming back after 15 mins. She didn't explain anything she was doing. The owner tricks you in the end to buy the same deal but not GROUPON, we told him we would come back but kept insisting and wouldn't let us budge. He never states that there is a no refund policy. We asked him to send us a copy of his policies but we have heard back from him yet. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME ON THIS PLACE! read more

I have never written a review before but the time has come to share my experiences about spa Zara. The first time I went I used a groupon or living social deal and had a positive experience. Roger, the owner then had me purchase the same deal from him without using the online deals. I agreed and my girlfriend did the same. We then scheduled our massages and facials with him. When we arrived for them about a month later there was a reported mix up with schedule and staff so no treatments and nothing but a sorry from roger. We figured it was a fluke and rescheduled. The next time we both had wonderful facials from zuby and my girlfriend had a massage from Brian, Which was "strange" but ok because she likes aggressive deep massages. Roger again mixed up the schedule and I had a massage with a woman who did not do deep tissue massages which was what I signed up for. Nothing but a sorry again. We actually (stupidly) signed up for another massage and facial as zuby really is great and a professional. Scheduled our appointments about 2 months in advance and got a call from roger the day before asking if we could change our times. Well we work and were unable to change the times. My girlfriend never was able to use her mani pedi from an older deal as they have one person to do both who is only there occasionally. It seems the people who work there are just contracted so reliability doesn't seem to be too important. Roger screwed up his appointment book continually and blamed others for the scheduling errors and car trouble for his employees not showing up. We finally made an appointment to go there(which is a half hour away) to speak to roger in person and get reimbursed. The day we were scheduled to go we called to confirm. Roger wasn't there! After numerous phone calls we finally got reimbursed but just got "sorry" from him. Nothing to perform good customer service at all. It is a small but nice little place and it's a shame that roger does not know how to run a business. The one star goes to zuby who really is a 5 but I don't want roger to get any credit that is not his! My first review. A little wordy but my frustration has been building. Hope this helps! read more

I bought the groupon for the massage, facial and hand parrafin. Unlike other reviewers, the spa was able to accommodate my preferred date. The massage with Tatiana was pretty good, but the music was playing really loud. It was easy to tell why it was playing so loud when you were laying on the massage table. There was construction going on next door, so all throughout the entire massage and facial there was hammering and drilling going on. I don't particularly find that relaxing. I have had better facials before. The aesthician was constantly stepping out of the room while treatments were on my face and left the door open. I could hear all of her conversations she was having with the man in the front. I didn't want to hear that while I was trying to relax and how about colsing the door for privacy? Also, she must have mentioned every five minutes "You have to come back in six months for a facial. You come back here, okay?" Sorry, not happening. I was offered the same groupon deal when I left and when I said no the guy kept pushing the deal. I don't like pushy business people so I will not be back. read more

I bought two gift cards for massages through groupon and was a little worried after reading the reviews. However, I had a pleasant experience at Spa Zara. The spa itself is small and not as fancy as a larger, more expensive spa. There is no locker room, etc ,however, the massage cost much less than these other spas. That being said, it is clean and neat and the massage rooms have music and a nice ambiance. I had no problems making an appointment (in fact my last visit i called only a few days before and they went out of their way to accomodate me). I did notice that some of the other people there had to wait a bit, so they were a bit behind schedule. Most importantly, however, the massages were AWESOME!! I have had massages that cost much more that were not as good. On my first visit I had a male masseuse named Pasqual and on the second I had a female named Nikki. They were both great (I had the deep tissue massage and left both times feeling amazing). I also, bought another massage at the $45 price when I left so I will be returning soon. If you are looking for a great massage at a very reasonable price and can overlook the lack of amenities (puffy robes and decadent locker rooms), then I HIGHLY recommend Spa Zara. read more
