I have been to the downtown Space 519 for breakfast with my sisters on two occasions. The food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced for downtown and the ambience's warm and friendly. I've enjoyed going to this well designed and cozy shop with a wonderful restaurant tucked into it. Highly recommended. The service is great. We needed a lunch spot near Water Tower and this turned out to be the perfect spot to dine. Unfortunately, my friend and I had our tweens lunching with us so we didn't get to do much shopping here...but it looks like they had some gorgeous, unique pieces. I plan on being back in the area later in the week and can't wait to check it out! As for lunch, or Sunday brunch, we started with a warm fresh baguette. I went with avocado toast for my meal, which hit the spot as it always does. I've had my share of avocado toasts in my lifetime and this was a good one. My daughter also really enjoyed her chicken flatbread. It was huge so when it first came out I thought she could have shared it with her friend, but she was super hungry and it was really tasty so she did a pretty good job eating it on her own. I love Space 519! There's nothing better than shopping at a boutique. Everything just looks prettier in a lovely setting. All the items are arranged so nicely and the selection is always unique. Set on a stunning street just off the Magnificent Mile, the vintage building offers character even before you enter. Once inside, you head up a few stairs to a wonderful collection of everything beautiful. Home decor, wine, kitchen/cooking pieces, spa items, jewelry, sunglasses, handbags, clothing, gifts, books, greeting cards, and gentlemen's items fill this small boutique. The staff has always been extremely friendly and welcoming each time I'm there. The sales girl even remembered me from a previous visit. On one occasion I needed to make a return for store credit and I was assisted with ease. The attached Lunchroom Café makes it easy to make a fun day. I came in for a late lunch one Sunday to dine in and do a little shopping since I live around the nieghborhood. The staff here is very inattentive unless you look the part that you are going to drop some serious money. There were some vintage pieces like Pucci and Chanel but I like to shop local and support local designers so I wish they had more local designer pieces to select from.. Not one piece of clothing stood out to me and the clothes had an aroma of burrata cheese. I was very put off. The whole placed also reeked of prententiuosness. I concur with another reviewer items are way marked up. I'd rather shop at Nordstroms or Saks 5th Ave. I will not be back. read more

You walk in past a menu and think you get a cafe. Then you go up the stairs and are greeted by someone in a white apron with a coffee menu to your right. So, then you order coffee discover very good coffee. Then... you look past the counter but see.... clothing... furniture items... houshold goods... for sale and perhaps wonder... what exactly is this place? My sentiments exactly. So, I've come mainly for the coffee, because the coffee here is actually really good. They use Metric beans, which is always a major plus for me and their latte drinks with flavoring are not too sweet. Came last week for a Mocha, and it was honestly one of my favorite mochas I've had in a really long time, simply because it wasn't too sweet like other mochas I've. Slightly pricier than other coffee spots, but not by much. The staff have always been helpful. As chic and urbane as you'll ever get at a local coffee spot with "other" offerings. Have yet to be curious enough to venture into the rest of the space, as I sort of don't get what's going on, but reading the other reviews makes me want to at least peruse the next time I stop in! read more

What a cool store! It's a "Redefined General Store" they sell Amazing Art, furniture, clothes, and shaves needs... odds are if you need it or want it, they have a variation of it. It is located in the 900 shops and is a no brainer for travelers staying at the four seasons who have lost luggage. It is also a great spot to find really cool things for your home. andd guess what ladies, they have a ton of shit for stylish chicks. I also like it because you don't need to have skinny pete wentz legs to buy their Jeans from Baldwin. I cannot stress enough how good this place is but don't take my word for it! I found thus wonderful boutique after having a wonderful lunch in their lunchroom with friends. I found a great purse, pants and bracelets. They were kind enough to have the jeweler make them in a smaller version for me. It took a little longer than expected but I now wear them all the time and get lots of compliments. The sales people are accommodating and helpful. I love their taste and unique items and the clothes are unique and well made. A real find and great addition to the neighborhood. Amazing Owners and Staff- they know fashion and they are so helpful and kind! Even if I don't purchase anything (and that's rare), I enjoy my time chatting with everyone- they are truly pleasant people to be around. Who ever does the buying for this store has GOT to be an interesting, artistic and eclectic person. The place is fabulous - everything is fabulous. It is a little mix of everything, books, unique jewelry, fashionable one of a kind clothing, sun glasses and even make-up. This is my second time visiting the store and I spent about 40 minutes just looking at all the unique items they have to offer. The woman who helped me was so friendly and honest with what looked good / not so good. I will make this a regular stop every time I get to Chicago. I may not be able to always purchase something but I will say this, I will not regret the 40 minutes gazing at fabulous things. read more

Well the owners of Jake are back, but I am sure that isn't news to anyone. Guys who are savvy enough to rip off young designers are sure to figure out a comeback, right? I do have to say that Space 519 has great things, brands, and a space to offer however the following is what just doesn't do it for me. I have been in 4 times now and I waited after the first time in to write this review. The first 3 times, one of the owners, and then the other one sat behind the computer without more than a hello and a goodbye, great. The last time there was a younger woman in there who just did not understand the meaning of being subtle. Every single item I picked up, cosmetic or clothing, was her "ABSOLUTE FAVVVVORITE thing in the whole world". Most of the cosmetic items offered are somewhat unique and higher end so I am not disputing their greatness, but I don't care. We have completeley opposite complexions and what she loves I may not. I don't like to be pressured and followed around the store. I decided against buying anything because the last time I got some candles I found them at Nordstrom and on Amazon for MUCH less. Items are marked up so beware. I can appreciate a boutique's overhead and need to mark things up but in this day in age I don't think the experience is worth the extra buck. read more

What a frustrating experience... I bought a $2500 Gabriela Artigas ring from this store. 7 weeks later, I still do not have the ring. I was told that the ring would be shipping out a week after purchase. After waiting 6 weeks, and not hearing anything from the owner, I had to contact owner and request information about ring. Owner told me that he had communication break down with Gabriela. I was told it would be overnighted to me two days later. I still do not have the ring, owner continues to give me false hope. On a side note, the nice sales woman that helped me originally with the ring has since left the store. I would avoid purchasing anything from this store. read more

If this wasn't the only place in Chicago to buy certain brands I wouldn't come here at all. The complex it's in is very ghost-town-like in comparison to other thriving shopping complexes like the Water Tower. Whenever I go in I'm rarely greeted and often given the cold shoulder. If you don't look like you're going to drop $$$ you're going to be treated like you're not there. Sometimes it'll just be me and two employees and not even a hello! Will not be spending another penny here. Was sold a pair of sunglasses that were crooked but they were the last one. Manager told me to go across the way to a glasses shop that would fix them free for me. So I did just that. Unfortunately the issue was with the nose bridge area of the sunglasses and not the arms by the ears. They were not able to make them straight so I returned back to the shop to return them. Who wants crooked sunglasses? They would not return them. Only offered me an exchange in store. Unbelievable. Terrible customer service here. Sales people are pretty bad and not very bright. I will drop my money elsewhere that's for sure. read more

I really wanted to love this shop. I really enjoy finding fun new boutiques and during a trip to Chicago I went out of my way to visit Space519. It is a very cute shop and very well curated with lots of unique and fun items that span home accessories, clothing, jewelry, etc. However, my experience with the staff was extremely disappointing. When I initially walked in, one of them was in a deep conversation with a friend and did not look up or acknowledge my presence. It was very clear to me that the person with whom she was speaking was not a customer but was making a social visit. The other salesperson was standing at the register and also did not acknowledge my presence in the store. Don't get me wrong - I don't love salespeople who cling or hound, but it's nice to be acknowledged in some way. This is especially true when another customer who arrived at the store after I did was greeted and offered assistance. I was obviously looking at clothing and holding items and was still left on my own. Perhaps I don't fit the mold of their typical clientele. I felt very unwelcome and ended up putting my items back and leaving the store disappointed. read more

This is a fabulous little boutique that should not be missed. They carry unusual things that you can't find at every department store. The owners are often in the store and are helpful but never pushy. They have great taste and great personalities to match.
