If I could give a negative score for PA McCall Jewett I would…read more Last weekend I went to the Salem Urgent Care hoping I could get an antibiotic for an infection and confirmation/education on what I had assessed to likely be Shingles on my thigh. I was in pain and miserable and knew I couldn't wait until Monday. I had the very unfortunate luck of being seen by PA, McCall Jewett. She was unprofessional. Told me it wasn't realistic that I had Shingles and it was more likely that I had Herpes, Clamidia, or Ghonnorea. WHAT IN THE WORLD?! I told her I had regularly been tested and that was not a concern. After going back and forth several times I asked her if she was even going to look at the spot I was worried about, but she kept saying it wasn't necessary. I insisted she do an exam. How can she treat if she doesn't look and doesn't test. I told her that's what I was paying her for and she finally gave me a gown then "examined it" from about 5 feet away with me sitting in an upright position. There was no way she could see if there were any other concerns, nor test for what was needed. I again asked her to at minimum test for a yeast infection so that I could get an antibiotic if I needed one. She told me she would only do it if she tested me for STDs too. I expressed repeatedly this wasn't a concern and not why I was there. I asked if the list of STDs she insisted she test for presented like what I had told her I was seeing and feeling, but she said no. I told her that I didn't understand why she insited on doing tests for something I don't need, and things that aren't even close to what I'm seeing. Just swab me for what I am asking so I can go home. She still wouldn't test without doing a panel for the 3 STDs. When I finally agreed so I could get out of there, she started explaining how the test was done, handed me the swab, then told me to do it myself and leave after i'm dressed. Then she walked out. When she updated my record a couple of days later she noted that she concurs with my concerns about shingles and that she gave me medication. She didn't even get close enough to really see them or check for more blisters, after telling me it was unlikely that I had them, but she concurs?! This is one of the worst medical experiences I've ever had.

Good diagnosis on it being a sore knee Spanish fork and a special thanks for the extra week of no treatment which has only hurt my child! She came in on a Saturday evening because she was afraid she had broken a finger playing volleyball. Finger was swollen painful and darkly bruised. Staff including the doctor on call didn't even look at her finger, touch or examine it before repeatedly asking her if she wanted an X-ray. She is a young college kid so maybe they thought they didn't have to give her information? Shouldn't it be your job to see if an X-ray was needed? Shouldn't you at least LOOK at the finger before ordering more tests? She was then told it would take 45 minutes for an X-ray tech to arrive. I think they were just trying to get rid of her so they could go home. After doing the X-ray the doctor came back I to the room said she reviewed the X-ray outside and there was a fracture. She wouldn't answer my daughter as to what type of fracture and was really vague as to where. They put on a splint and just left her. She had to find someone to unlock the door and let her out. She was told to follow up with a hand specialist for casting and she did so today and found out THERE Was NO FRACTURE at all. Unbelievable!!! How can you misread an X-ray that badly? Do not go to this urgent care, what a joke.

However, this is super close to my house and we tried it a few times and absolutely loved him so much that he is our primary doc now too. He can do both and the ease of getting things done and being seen is great. The other reason I switched is Revere's urgent care has been awful every single time we have been there even though we loved our day time docs there!!!!

Well sure enough, this visit showed some additional symptoms (which I hadn't noticed much). Long soft short: Dr Elmer was thorough as always and diagnosed the issue and came up with treatment plan. I was in an out in less than 40 minutes (which included a 10min albuterol treatment), with a liquid steroid and a 10 day supply of antibiotics all for $180.00. Had I gone to my GP, this easily would've been over $500. We're very fortunate to have Dr Elmer and his staff here in the Heber Valley!!!!

Normally its about 10-15 min. They are very big into Chinese medicine as an alternate practice with acupuncture and herbs and who knows I'll try it someday but they are also very knowledgeable with western medicine as well. They once offered me the Chinese remedy after some pneumonia I couldn't seem to shake with antibiotics but they never were pushy and prescribed me a different antibiotic that finally cleared it up. Very polite. Very professional... Better yet. I have a $4000 family deductible so my family has to see an IHC physician 40x before I can even begin to really use my insurance with co-pays etc. Our range between general and specialists with IHC is about $100-$150 for they physician fee regardless (Usually 250+ for an Instacare visit). They are open Saturdays as well. These guys are $45 cash/$50 credit card. So my family or I can see them 90x if necessary. No admittedly it doesn't coun't against my deductible for in-network physicians but still does to my overall total out-of-pocket if there were a serious problem. Long story short. I really like these guys.
