My girlfriend and I stopped here for lunch and neither one of us could eat the hamburger we ordered. It was disgusting and the French fries were made in old oil. We took one bite and asked if the burger was deer meat since it didn't taste like beef. After hearing our complaint and seeing our plate was hardly touch we were still charged full price. We will never go there again and highly recommend you do the same. read more

This spot is so cute! If you're new to the area you must check it out. Ros was our waitress. She is very very friendly. They had a s'mores pancake on the special of the day. The coffee is perfect. No acidity and smooth and mellow. I had the junior breakfast everything was great! Normal breakfast. I had my dad omelette and WOW! I am so having that next time! It was so delicious. I went with the $9.95 build your own Cheesesteak option. I got a beef cheesesteak with mushrooms, sauteed onions, American cheese and Spanky signature steak sauce. Corned beef was a meat option that I found intriguing and almost ordered. When I first got the cheesesteak I was very concerned. It came with really good looking french fries but I was still concerned about the cheesesteak. I was very happy when I picked it up and found there was a good amount of meat hiding in the roll. The mushrooms and sauteed onions added a lot of flavor but it was Spanky's signature steak sauce that stole the show. The Bottom bite where all the good stuff was hiding was amazing. Unfortunately the bottom bite didn't make up for a whole lot of roll and some dry meat on top. read more

When I first walked in I tripped on a block of wood that was randomly in front of the door.once I got in the door they had a cool display of license plates on the walls. I ordered a panini but it was basically a chicken sandwich, the bread wasn't panini bread. Maybe I will order something else next time. Wish I took some pictures, but I was so hungry this morning! Came here as a last meal from the best friends weekend. We made a great choice. The food we had was well prepared, but the waitstaff really set this restaurant apart from many others. All were quite friendly and accommodating. I had a vegetable omelette with home fries, and some dry toast. Home fries were requested well done, but they were not. Omelette was perfect with lots of vegetables. Orange juice was a mix which I did not like. My friend had egg whites and Scrapple with home fries. That was finished quickly with some really good coffee. The place seats quite a bit and I think this is where the regulars go and all know each other. I can see that it can get crowded quickly on a weekend. This is just a nice place to eat. $21 not including tip for two. Not bad at all. Highly recommended. read more

I ordered the veggie omelette with home fries. My partner across from me ordered the Junior. Overall, great food and atmosphere! I love little diners like these. This was a great place to stop for breakfast on my drive back home to Philadelphia. The food is classic diner food, but really great quality and they have an extensive menu. My only complaint is that all the waitresses I interacted with were not appropriately wearing their masks (COVID precautions). I know this is not a concern for everyone, especially since it's located in a rural area, but worth mentioning for people who are looking to social distance. read more

Family owned, home spun and one of my favorite breakfast spots. It's a nice drive, so never a problem going there. It's a nothing fancy, come as you are place. It's very local, so just sit at the counter and you will hear an update on all that's new. We have been coming here for over 10 years, usually on the weekend. Out of towners are welcome, even though it's very small town. It's lovely. Everybody knows everybody. The owners are usually working, or helping for sure! Spanky's and Peggy. Now this is the first time that their daughter wasn't working, and 1st time no Spanky. Seems he is under the weather so get well soon! The waitress staff could work anywhere'. Cozy restaurant right on the main road, couldn't resist driving by another time without stopping in. Perfect serving sizes and fair prices. Home fries were delicious. Poached and scrambled eggs both hit harder than Brian Dawkins. Bacon was thick. Ham did not disappoint like most breakfast joints. 10/10 would and will go again. The signage hanging is pretty cute too. Inside looks like a typical diner, but the seating could use major updating: paint is peeling off banquettes and chairs are a bit uncomfortable. Noise/sound level: It was pretty crowded this morning, but it's a holiday weekend so expect places around these parts to be busy. It wasn't very loud or distracting inside so your conversation will be fine. Menu: The menu is pretty small centered on breakfast and lunch. They serve minimal egg, pancake, french toast, and burger dishes. You're not coming here for out of the ordinary, just a decent place to get breakfast. Service: The servers were pretty attentive, friendly, and informative, no complaints here. Food: Five of us had cinnamon french toast, which was found enjoyable, and I had biscuits and gravy. The food was decent, but could have been a little warmer and seasoned a bit stronger. Bar: None. Price: Pretty cheap overall; competitively priced. We order blueberry pancakes with 3 eggs, bacon, toast and potato 'fries' - all for only $12! The blueberry pancakes (3) were huge, round and fluffy. It was so good I had to save some left overs for the road. Everything else was quite decent and just found the value to be super generous compares to the price. Spanky's definitely reminds me of that cute hometown place that everyone goes for their morning coffee and breakfast with the girls. It's cute and quaint. This said, the food is very good!! The pancakes are fluffy and yummy enough even without syrup. Everything is supper fresh and the coffee hits the spot. Just when you think, what's for lunch? Spanky's does it right. I just went to Spanky's in Newfoundland PA. I ordered 2 bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches w extra bacon and an order of buffalo chicken fingers with fries and a pink lemonade and home fries without onions to go. I remember that because the server asked me if I wanted the home fries with onions or without. I said without. The bill came to 28 dollars and change. I gave the server 40 dollars and told her to keep the change. She brought the bag out and I took it and left. Upon getting home I realized the home fries were missing. I gave a ten plus dollar tip and still didn't get what I ordered. Did I do something wrong? Is it because I am not a regular customer? I listened to people who go to Spanky's regularly. If I had a half star option I would certainly use it here because Spanky's is worthy of 3.5 stars. Some aspects of my experience would certainly warrant a full 4 stars. First, I will note that the Cinnamon buns are easily 4 + stars. I would also rate our server very highly. Wish i had caught her name, but she did a fantastic job throughout our meal in spite of the fact that she was obviously working her ass off. I came in for a late breakfast with 4 other hungover 30 somethings and the place was packed.. We waited a few minutes for a table and then got down to business. Our server was engaging, humorous and always around when we needed something. This just goes to show that service does not need to go to shit because your restaurant is busy. Other establishments and servers please take note. Most of us ordered some combination of eggs, cheese, vegetables, potatoes and breakfast meat. I did not hear much complaining from the masses and all of our plates were empty at the end of the meal. I would describe the food as solid breakfast without many frills. In other words, this is not big city gourmet, but it is good breakfast at a great price. Always happy to spend my money in a place like Spanky's. read more
