    Mold in bathroom

I'm always sure to do the normal check when I book a hotel room including the beds, floors, toilet, and shower. Unfortunately I missed something. After checking into the hotel then leaving for about 8 hours I decided to go hop in the shower and get ready for bed and to my surprise MOLD. I was absolutely baffled. I have NEVER stayed at a hotel with mold. To know that this is how Spark by Hilton operates their business is absolutely disgusting. I would not recommend staying here unless you want to get poisoned by mold.

I want to start by saying that this is an amazing hotel, and it truly is. The staff deserve 5 stars for their exceptional service--so friendly and kind. Mrs. Calandria and Betty B were fantastic hosts, always cheerful, hardworking, and ready to assist with information and support during my stay. However, I can't give the hotel 5 stars for two reasons. First, the breakfast fell short of expectations. As a Hilton property, I expected more than bagels with a toaster, one type of yogurt, and prepackaged muffins that didn't feel fresh. I was disappointed with the breakfast selection. Second, I was unable to print anything. As a business traveler, I rely on being able to print at least one or two documents, which is a standard amenity in most other hotels I've stayed at. While my expectations for the services were higher, I want to emphasize that the staff were amazing and the hotel was clean--definite highlights of my stay. The staff went above and beyond, even rebooting the computers three times while I waited. Despite the inconvenience, their joyful and entertaining demeanor made the wait feel less frustrating for me as a guest. Still, I feel bad that they had to work so hard to make up for these shortcomings, which reflect on Hilton's brand.

    Communication with hotel...no response.

To be fair, Jackson, MS wasn't my destination, it's simply a great midpoint for me to rest when I'm road trippin' between Dallas and Atlanta. The Good: The hotel is relatively new and It's conveniently located near the University of Mississippi Medical Center and VA hospital. A few restaurants are within walking distance, which is a plus. It's also pet-friendly, which is fabulous since my fur babies love a good road trip. Also, the staff is really nice (shoutout to Francine!) The not-so-Good: There's an appearance of clean in the rooms, but not really. On my last stay, I was greeted by couch stains, rusty shower, and some leftover "mystery gunk" in the kitchen sink. It's the second time the TV didn't work, and the fourth time my digital key failed. The entire fridge moved around the kitchen whenever I opened it, LOL. Also, the lobby can get quite loud, since it occasionally turns into a hangout spot for large groups. Know before you go that the surrounding area can feel a bit mixed and while I've never felt unsafe, staying aware is a must. Pet owners, take note: The designated dog areas can get very messy since not everyone picks up after their pets and the hotel doesn't seem to maintain these areas well. If want your pup's paws clean, you'll need to find another spot for walks. Bottom line: When the price is right, this a decent option for an overnight stay. Just know there are some "quirks", and plan accordingly. Happy Stays!

Bathroom very large also and well appointed. Exceptional lighting. 2. Kitchen access upstairs for ice, free soda, coffee, tea or water, homemade cookies bt elevator or stairs. Honor system for alcohol (we didnt try any). 3. Accommodating pleasant staff. 4. Old historic house and small but pretty grounds you can walk around. The magnolias are ancient and spectacular. Wish we could have seen them in bloom. 5. Can order nicely prepared meals to room or eat in library lounge - breakfast or dinner. Def an old southern feel to the place. Cons: 1. Parking was tight and hard to to manuever but they did have a cart available for rooms that are further away - partially broken. 2. In downtown area, kind of dingy and run down - but somewhat charming w many old craftsman homes around. 3. Could have used some hanging baskets and annuals for more color and charm - would help brighten the mood of the run down area of town - 4. And wish theyd answer the phones. We left messages almost everytime we called (they were good about calling back). This leaves one feeling disconnected from a warm hospitable experience.

We were told the service staff walked out and they didn't have rooms available. We did book with a third party vendor, which was very accommodating and found us a place to stay. It was not my choice but it did the job. There was no backup plan at the Hilton. Since there was no staff available, the rooms that were occupied had to write their name on a list to get fresh towels, toiletries and etc.... There was a black American young lady with red hair that was remained calm, posed, attentive and professional as the crowd grew with disappointment. She was very helpful. She answered the phone while the others ignored them. Thats how we were able to get moved. Crazy part, it was her second day and she ead still in training. What an experience for her. Hopefully, they retain her and she don't walk out like the rest of the staff. Did I mention that there were a bus load of high school students that they had to find rooms for. So sad. They should have notified guest in advance that this occurred so guest could have made adjustments before arriving to the hotel. The outside and inside were clean and look decent. There is no free parking. Only valet for $24 per night.

The staff I will say are great and try to help with what they can. The first room I checked into was so hot and filthy, I had to request a room change. Not sure why I was given a handy accessible room with a broken faucet, dirty floors and dirty walls. I know it's been hot lately (78F) but the AC units don't seem to keep up in this building at all. The temps in the rooms barely budge lower and sometimes even creep up! Also power seems to be unreliable as it goes out at least once a day! Building looks a little neglected with lots of hallway lightbulbs not working, and just small issues like paint and cracks on doors. At first glance everything will look fine until you start looking more closely. Breakfast is just your usual complimentary fare of eggs and bacon, bagels, yogurt, juice and coffee. You can make yourself some mini waffles with syrup if that's your preference. I did enjoy the coffee very much. Couldn't access the pool as the room cards don't seem to unlock the gate and staff don't really know why. Wifi is also very spotty at this location as I regularly get disconnected for 30-60 minutes at a time. No water is provided so you'll have to get your own. Showers are nice and large with nice smelling soaps. Unfortunately, no moisturizing lotions but Jackson is fairly humid so you might not need. Beds are large and comfortable with those terrible hotel pillows. It's kind of your no frills residential hotels for a decent price.

This is the first hotel review I have ever felt compelled to write. Over the years, I have had…read moreseveral less-than-ideal hotel experiences, but none that warranted a public review. Unfortunately, my recent experience with this property and Marriott's customer service process left me with little choice. To be clear, the hotel itself is perfectly acceptable. My family has stayed here multiple times. The property is clean, well-maintained, and conveniently located. My concern is not with the facility itself, but with the complete lack of communication and customer service from hotel management and Marriott's corporate support system. After an issue with our stay, I spent more than a month attempting to contact the hotel manager, Kimberly Jones, to discuss the situation. I called the hotel on three separate occasions and was informed each time that she did not have a voicemail set up. I was advised to contact her by email, which I did on three separate occasions. None of my emails received a response or even an acknowledgment. After weeks of trying to reach someone who could assist, I was informed by Marriott that our request had been denied by the hotel manager--the same manager who never responded to any of my attempts to communicate. Whether the decision itself was right or wrong, the absence of any direct communication or explanation was disappointing and unprofessional. For full transparency, our situation involved circumstances in which we were not entirely without fault. I understand that policies exist for a reason, and I recognize that businesses cannot accommodate every request. However, customer service often requires evaluating situations individually, and exceptions are made every day when circumstances warrant them. I genuinely believe our situation deserved thoughtful consideration and, at the very least, a response. Equally frustrating was my experience with Marriott's corporate customer service. Rather than helping resolve the issue, I was repeatedly redirected to different phone numbers, email addresses, and departments without receiving meaningful assistance or accountability. What troubles me most is not necessarily the final decision, but the process. Customers should not have to spend weeks attempting to reach a manager only to receive no response whatsoever. Respectful communication is a basic expectation, especially when a customer is making a good-faith effort to resolve a concern. As a result of this experience, my confidence in Marriott's commitment to customer service has been significantly diminished. We will certainly not visit this hotel again and don't intend to stay at any Marriott property moving forward. I hope this review encourages both hotel management and Marriott corporate leadership to take a closer look at how customer concerns are handled. It will be interesting to see whether a public review receives the response that repeated private communications did not. Summary of our situation: Our reservation was for Saturday night. Because there was a possibility that the athletic event we were attending would be canceled due to weather, with a final decision not expected until Saturday morning, we canceled our reservation through the app at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, believing we were doing the responsible thing if the event did not take place. Once the event was confirmed, we rebooked the same hotel the next morning--approximately eight hours later--and stayed there as originally planned. Unfortunately, we did not realize the cancellation policy required 48 hours' notice rather than 24 hours. I requested a one-time exception since we ultimately stayed at the hotel and paid for the room that night - not an unreasonbale request. However, Ms. Jones apparenlty denied the request, resulting in us being charged for two nights when we only stayed one. As repeat customers, I expected at least the courtesy of a return communication. The fact that the one person who could address the issue chose not to respond speaks volumes about the level of customer service we received.
