We have adopted two dogs from SBHS. The entire staff is genuinely passionate about what they do…read more The dogs are well cared for: well fed, clean, socialized and they really make a point to get to know each furry friend to help potential adopters know if they are compatible.

This time around, my pup was due for his three-year "double whammy" vaccination of both DHPP and rabies. I made the appointment online several weeks in advance (recommended since appointments go fast) and was able to select by my preferred date and time. I followed the clear instructions by arriving 5 minutes early, parking in the lot, then walking past the shelter building to the vet clinic. Julie welcomed me and Chester with a smile, while going over what to expect. She also offered him a kennel cough intranasal vaccine at the same time. The appointment was brief and required me to only wait about 5 minutes total. Not to mention that it only cost me reasonable $25 (there's discounts for senior citizens too). Julie walked Chester out and told me of possible side effects to watch out for. Although my pup was excited to escape, he also got a lot of good smells and pets in. We left all set for another 3 years. Keep in mind that both the DHPP and rabies vaccinations are required for dogs over 4 months of age in order to license them in the state of California. This helps protect all dogs but also reduces stray pets from roaming the streets. They also offer spay/neutering, deworming, flea treatments, anal gland expression, nail trimming, microchipping and an all-encompassing examination.

A little tricky to find, but my grandie and I were welcomed immediately. We told the kind staff…read moremember that we would like to see a certain bunny my grandie had seen on the website. Her guinea pig had recently passed and she was enamored with this bunny. He introduced us to the bunny and educated us on how to handle her, where she came from, and many specifics about bunnies in general. After a while he left us to hold her and pet her which was enjoyable and sweet. We took some information about bunny care. We learned a lot, and had a wonderful experience just holding a sweet bunny! If we ever decide to adopt a bunny, we will definitely choose one here.

Bunnies Urgently Needing Shelter…read more This place takes care of their animals, even if they have been there for a long time. The area around here has the Humane society, animal shelter, Dog Adoption, etc. So if you're not looking for rabbits, they have guinea pigs, dogs, cats, and maybe other kinds of rodents. I fell in love with my guinea pig, Marbles. My heart just broke knowing that these animals were not wanted anymore or were living under the crawl space of a house. I wanted to take them all in! But they were in good care, the workers there loved every single of their animals and constantly play with them and make sure they are happy. The bunnies lived in their own pens where they can run around and talk to the other animals. The guinea pigs sometimes play with rabbits together! Even if you don't want to adopt an animal, just stop by and pay the animals a visit.
