I am not a customer of Sparklight but my elderly parents are. One suffers from serious dementia and the other is her caregiver with his own medical issues. The internet is their lifeline to family and a 'pacifier' for step-mom. Otherwise, she makes life extremely hard for my dad. Now, we recently had to move the two of them to a better living situation and my dad called ahead to ensure that the cable/internet would be ready upon their arrival. They were assured by Sparklight that it would be on and all they needed to do was plug in. When we tried every cable in the new place- nothing worked. Almost 2hrs on hold and they couldn't get anyone to help them for over two weeks. This has been a major hardship on my parents due to the extreme confusion (new home/ no tv) my stepmom circles around, causing undo stress upon my dad. I personally called twice on thier behalf explaining the situation and all they did was "put in a ticket"- then nothing. So much for the claim that Sparklight cares about the community- what a joke!!! Next, the tech came to the house and had some weak excuse as to why he was unable to connect the internet for them. THEN, he made my dad open a new account in order to do any further work. Which meant he needed to schedule a whole new appointment (ANOTHER 2 weeks out) before Sparklight could help him. WOW- just wow!! Could you get any worse Sparklight?? Anyway, here we are, nearly a MONTH of waiting for help. I have tried to convince my dad to try ANY OTHER service, but he doesn't want to create a fuss. Fine, I will create a fuss in hopes that it will make anyone thinking of using Sparklight to run away. My aunt was having internet issues. Her not being a tech inclined person, I helped her out. Called and troubleshot with support, and we determined the modem was having issues. They scheduled a tech for that day to come out. I waited for hours, confirmed the appointment with them, then watched the techs (in a van and a truck) pull into the driveway. I waited for a moment for them to come knock, rather than just going out and meeting them (so they could prep or such). Then I watched them drive away. Confused, I walked outside and waited to flag them down, thinking perhaps they thought they went to the wrong house. Nope. They were gone and didn't come back. We called Sparklight support, and apparently the techs cancelled the appointment saying "no one answered the door." An outright lie. I was literally right there watching them. No one EVER came to the door, or even got out of the vehicles. Sparklight, get better techs that don't try to cheat your customers. I'm still absolutely baffled they did this, and have little doubt they've done it to other people considering some of the other reviews. read more

Called the office to see why I was never billed for the month of July. I was told that they were changing due date for billing. As I am on Social security there was a reason I wanted to start up service on the or slightly before the 15th of every month for my budget. I was told not to worry because I can still pay my bill on the same time. That I would be billed on the 1st of August. I did and also charged a late fee because of the July bill. They are more expensive anyway so I decided to cancel my subscription after years of being a faithful Customer. With that being said, I finally got through to a super friendly customer Service agent in Texas that instructed me how and what to do at the main office. not able to email customer service. have changed to a 16 digit account number instead of phone number. you get hung up on after waiting FOREVER if you cannot give them your new account number. internet speeds vary to very slow to medium fast with a cable hook up. very frustrating. will not cover full house even with their "updated, more powerful router". Sparklight is so terrible that i've been on the phone trying to cancel my service for 27 minutes and counting. I didn't even have yelp on my phone before this call, but ive been on hold so long I had time to download it, make an account, and also make Mac and cheese for my kids. Have you ever had both physical and technical service so bad that it is hard know where to begin. Well, thats where I am at with Sparklight Idaho Falls. They have cut out their video because they couldn't get that to work (voices didn't match video, for one). They have now cut out services to individual rooms because they didn't have enough signal strength. They persistently provide excuses for low bandwidth on private hardware (even when hardware is brand new), try to disconnect and remove equipment because otherwise service could be even worse (hard to believe), clip the ends of cables almost EVERY TIME THEY COME OUT EVEN IF IT WAS SAME DAY blaming poor speeds on that. They claim to provide adequate signal to create a reasonable replacement for landlines (when in actuality the digital signal is awful for voice and unusable for fax. Sparklight is clearly not investing in infra-structure anymore. And has their pricing gone down to match their decline in service? Nope, still playing the old plan / new plan game. Cable companies, in general, don't have the greatest reputation because of the games they play, but Sparklight service of Idaho Falls continues to set new lows.This company needs to go away to provide room for another company to service the community rather than take away. read more

0 communication between the customer and the service electricians. I've tried multiple times for them to come out to install a new modem and they make you wait all day just to flake out on you. Then, when you call the number provided, the electrician says they swung by but no one answered the door. Which is absolute bs! This has happened to me 3 times! Cable One is terrible. Stay away at all costs. Going to switch my service this week after 3 months of having the worst service I've ever had across the country. The techs who work at Cable One don't know a single thing about what they do. Even the managers are dumbfounded when asked a question. I've had over 8 different techs at my property to fix why the service is so terrible. I lay over $175 a month just for Internet. I'm supposed to be getting 1GB of service but the speeds rarely exceed 70MB. Such a total rip off. They've changed the lines, changed the modem, changed the modem, changed the modem, added a hot spot point, added another... Now they just come out here and run a test and say it's fine when it still sucks! My husband has tried for over two months now to get Sparklight to fulfill what they said they would do. On his first phone call he was told we could get service no problem. When the tech came out he said they would need to dig a trench to put in a cable. My husband said no problem, he would dig the trench. Tech said great and they scheduled a time for the cable to be put in. After a few days of no one showing up on the scheduled day he called and was told they couldn't run a cable after all. Since we had already went to the expense of renting a trench digger to dig a trench (because we were told they COULD run a cable) we asked if they could at least come out to see if there was ANY way to get the service that was promised. They said YES & scheduled a time but never showed up. We then received an email saying we got a refund for the start up cost, the account we started had been closed, and we owed $10. Two more phone calls to a supervisor later, they apologized, supposedly re-opened the account, yet they still won't do anything other than say they will call back with a time to send someone out and they have yet to call back. It's been over two weeks since a supervisor told us they would get back to us. Horrible customer service! Terrible follow through! Sneaky tactics! No accountability for inaccurate information. Definitely look elsewhere for your internet service. Update to Business Manager response: Better yet, how about you email it to the link provided? That would at least instill a little more confidence in customers that Sparklight is TRULY interested in improving customer service. Sparklight's Internet service seems fine so far, but then we are just two older people who don't do a ton of streaming. I contacted a competitor before we signed up, and they told me I would have to pay $200 for installation and wait 4-6 weeks for the installation to happen. No thank you. We did end up having to have a Sparklight service rep come out and help with the installation, and he was very courteous and helpful. The capped tier arrangement Sparklight uses is very confusing, but several other companies have switched to similar plans. My biggest and most serious complaint about Sparklight is what I consider to be devious if not blatantly illegal business practices. Even though the only address I ever shared with them is my current address, they somehow pulled the address that we recently moved from, and they have been sending the bills to that address. I feel this borders on identity theft. Among other things, this has resulted in a 4-week delay before the bill gets forwarded to us, so that the bill is due before we ever receive it. I contacted their billing company a month ago and told them I would refuse to pay any bill that was not addressed to the home address on file, but we just got another late and forwarded bill again today! This is complete incompetence from a "computer company." The good news is, I reached a very understanding and helpful billing agent today, who let me blow off my steam before she fixed my problem. So I guess like any company, there are competent and courteous employees and there are ones who have no business working in that field. read more

The service person, Jeff R. was friendly and polite. A quick test confirmed the cable drop from the pole to house was the most likely source of the problem. Pulled in a new aerial cable and the Internet runs much more reliable now. The rest of the story though, first call to tech support was a joke. Second call (same night) connected with a different tech who actually was interested in providing support. Line test from office showed a problem, so they scheduled a service visit. Two week wait for the service date. On the service date I received an SMS that said truck would arrive between 7:30-9:00 AM. Finally at 10:45 got the call that service person was headed my way! Sure glad Jeff was such a friendly guy. A different person may have not defused the frustrating wait I was put through. read more

Ive been with Sparklight for years. my frustration is towards getting my internet changed to a different location (besides the random internet not working for 5 minutes or so and the internet randomly slowing down for 30+ minutes) I've called in advance to relocate my service in which they did... I moved into my new home and tried the internet connection and it didn't work.... I called Sparklight and they scheduled a tech for next Monday which was about a week away... Well next Monday comes around and it was Martin Luther King day so nobody came... The following day I get a call from their automated system to confirm my appointment... it tells me to push "1" to confirm... I pushed it and the automated system doesn't receive the button input... I tried multiple times and still nothing... I called customer support and they were able to confirm for my scheduled appointment... I waited during my timeframe appointment for a technician and nothing... I called customer support an hour after the alluded timeframe and they said the technician tried calling but didnt get an answer... I never received a phone call from anyone!... they double checked to see if I gave them the right number in which I did... they said the tech was now booked for the rest of the day and need to reschedule me again for tomorrow... I've waited longer than a week now and I have work tomorrow... if I want internet service I'm going to have to call into work now because you guys failed (or systems failed) to contact me.... it's very frustrating especially when i made an appointment with the company to get serviced to keep getting postponed... moving forward I probably won't recommend your services to anyone else looking for an internet provider read more

this company sucks the costumer support is horrible. we are paying for 1gig witch is $120 a month most of the time we only only get 250mbs on the high side on the low side we get 50 mbs. we get kicked off all our devices for unstable net work 4 to 5 times a day. If you call for a tec. it will take 2 weeks to get any one to come out, then when they do show up all they say it is up to 950 mbs but that dose not mean you will get that high of mbs do not use them they suck read more

The connection so so bad you can barely watch Netflix and have to wait 10 minutes to load maybe 2 minutes of the show. Gaming can't do that your lag is so bad playing a board game would be better off. All in all cable one need to do something about there connection because it's a reoccurring thing. I called to cancel my service on 4/27 and was told by Lori I needed to bring my equipment in. I told her I was on my lunch hour and would drop it by. First of all I was never greeted, acknowledged or told be with you in a moment. I had been waiting for 25 minutes. 2nd: Lori and her supervisor were working at snail slow level even though they had a lobby of customers holding equipment. When I told them If I could leave my equipment because I was on lunch break, Lori's supervisor was very rude to me and told me I had to wait. I told her I was on my lunch break and wrote all my information on a paper and with the equipment. I took a picture as well. She then glared at me with an attitude that she would be with me soon. I left my equipment on the counter with a note. This is one of the of the reason's why I left Cableone. 1st - they don't appreciate loyal customers 2nd the internet speeds aren't true to what you say they are 3rd if you reach the data cap you automatically up the bill and make us pay that price for 3 months. Great customer service after experiencing slow speeds. Hoping that a new modem/router will do the trick. I have an extremely old one, giving me about 1-4 mbps when I should be getting 50+. Hope the service call goes as well as the initial contact. I'd also like to note that the one-star reviews here are petty and short-sighted -- toxic internet mob mentality at its best. People often go to yelp not to leave honest reviews, but to just air their complaints to the masses. It's unfair and childish, usually carried out by cowards hiding behind the cloak of online anonymity. You people should be ashamed. I'd call you out by name, but I'm sure that's against the rules. Had Internet service for 4 years. When my credit card expiration date occurred they sent a message that payment was declined by credit card company. I entered the new expiration date and thought all was well. A couple weeks went by a received a deliquent surcharge. Went online and checked paperless billing and for some reason the auto pay feature had been turned off. Turned it back on and a couple of weeks later I come home from work and my service was disconnected. There is no online service to deal with this billing debacle. Drive to the Cable One office 30 minutes away and was old I have to pay $32 to turn Internet service back on. So no more Cable One, a faceless, heartless company that could care less about it's customers. read more

I just bought a new home and Cable One seems to be the only real choice in my area. I choose the starter plan. Not a bad price for 100 Mbps but the 300 Gb data cap seems a little ridiculous. With any other provider, I've always had unlimited data. Furthermore, as a network administrator, I understand network throttling during peak usage (internet rush hour) times of the day. However, during those peak times, I'm receiving less than one tenth of my data speed. On a 100Mbps plan, I generally get 5-7Mbps during peak times, and during non-peak times, I'm only getting 40Mbps. This seems excessive. Why am I paying for a 100Mbps plan if I'm never actually getting those speeds. Whether I am streaming videos or browsing the web, during peak or non-peak hours, I get better speeds using my phone as a hotspot than I get with Cable One. I'm very dissatisfied. The quality of the service isn't worth the price. On a positive note, the customer service representative that assisted with setting up my service was very nice and helpful. Also, the technician that came out to turn on my service was on time and friendly. read more
