I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by this funeral home. After my brother passed away, his wife was left to follow up with medical providers herself to get the death certificate signed and released--something the mortuary should have handled without placing that burden on the family. What made this experience even worse was seeing my brother's obituary published with multiple typos and errors. An obituary is a final tribute to a loved one, and mistakes like that are inexcusable. It showed a serious lack of care, professionalism, and attention to detail. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this funeral home. read more

First off, I should have written this review 2 years ago. As I am coming up on the 2 year deathaversary of my fiancee, I am remembering how amazing both Genna and Jody were in helping plan the service. It was a very complicated situation, partly because he was murdered and partly bc his affairs were not in order. But they were so delicate and compassionate for my situation. I could not have asked for more thoughtful and caring people to handle his passing. In fact, I ended up referring them to my friend when her father passed away. My dad recently passed and we selected Sparkman to help us take care of everything. Up until this point, I've never had to take care of, or plan for a deceased loved one so I wasn't sure what all needed to be done. Genna was our funeral director and walked us through every step and helped answer any questions we had. We met with her and she went over what services we would need and how the process would work from getting my dad ready, to getting him to the funeral home, to setting up the day of the funeral and cremation. We told her what we needed for the day of the funeral and also the types of services we needed and she only selected the things we talked about. Not once did she try to upcharge us or nickel and dime us for every little thing. They have a non-denominational chapel that was very nice, brightly lit, and accommodates a little over 100 people, so it's perfect for people of any religion. The funeral day went very smoothly and Genna was there to help in case we needed anything and to ensure things went accordingly. She was there for us from the morning all the way until the end of the cremation (which is done at their sister location ~15 minutes away). The viewing room at the crematorium was also much larger than I expected so that was a nice surprise too. Genna was very accommodating and respectful of people's feelings and religions. She also asked all the right questions to make sure our bases were covered and we had everything we needed taken care of. She's very professional and was very understanding. I would highly recommend Sparkman Funeral Home in the unfortunate event you need their services. I hope I won't need their services anytime soon again, but would gladly recommend them to friends and other family that may. My Father-In-Law was having difficulties with the folks across the street, so I recommended he see if Sparkman could help. I had great experience working with them on my Uncle's funeral a couple of years ago. Sure enough, they were able to fulfill my Mother-In-Law's final wishes, and did an excellent job, without nickel and diming him with a bunch of miscellaneous charges over and above what he had already paid years ago for his wife's funeral. And they provided the exact casket she wanted and had paid for, which the folks across the street refused to do. My family worked with Flossie Morgan and everything went perfectly. Sparkman even handled all the issues with the folks across the street so my father in law didn't have to go back over there again. This included transferring the remains from across the street and settling any charges incurred. The facilities are quite nice too, and spacious. We were not tripping over other bereaved families during the funeral or the visitation like has happened with so many other funerals across the street. The folks here understand how to treat people properly during a time of extream grief. I give them my highest endorsement. read more

I didn't exactly have my go-to funeral home, but Yelp reviews helped me select this one, so I thought I'd return the favor. The staff was excellent - they made everything very easy without trying to upsell us at every turn. The facility was very nice, and I appreciated the reception option following the memorial because we had several people from out of town and that was one less thing we had to organize. If you are tech-savvy, their systems work well. If you aren't, they do all of the work. Our liason was Genna, and she was kind, respectful, and helpful throughout the process. Mom was a veteran, and they managed all of those details as well. I highly recommend this facility. read more

While my mom was in hospice, I spoke with Flossie & Audry to get a feel for the funeral home as well as the options we had for my mom's celebration. Both meetings were positive & they were both open to the needs of my family. I love the bright open space of the chapel as well as homey-ness of the visitation room & surrounding area. I worked with Tiffany once my mom passed to finalize all the details & the day of the service, I worked with Madeline & Don. The whole team at Sparkman in Richardson were very professional & friendly. This is still part of the giant Dignity corporation but it felt more personal than Restland & Sparkman Hillcrest on NW Hwy. I have used Sparkman in Richardson, TX twice now and I find them always very professional, friendly, and accommodating. They think of things I can't remember to do in these trying times. I love that they don't try to over sell you when you're down and at your lowest. Tiffany was very nice and very patient with us in all the changes we made, she was an angel and made my husband's cremation and transfer from Seattle to Texas as easy as possible with constant updates on the progress. I love that they are affiliated with Dignity Memorial Funeral Homes and have locations all over that can handle loved ones, take care of them and transfer them any where. I hate that I've had to use them, but I will use them again if I ever have the need again-I just hope I don't have to in a very, very, very long time! Our experience with Sparkman began when my grandmother passed away. She passed away early in the morning, and plans were immediately made to have an affiliated funeral home in Tyler handle the cremation and death certificate paperwork, then Sparkman Greenville would take over. My grandmother passed away on a Tuesday, and by Friday she was cremated and in my grandfather's hands. I don't know the exact amount of days we waited for death certificates, but I know it was far less than the 10 day TFSC allowance. On several occasions I was needed to come in (to deliver things for my family) and each time I was politely greeted by either receptionist Joyce (I believe was her name) or Kristen. The funeral home was immaculate, quiet and homey. I didn't feel as though we were ever a burden to Cliff or other staff, even though we were always calling him for something. Cliff remained in constant contact with our family daily and always seemed to be available for our needs---there was never a problem trying to reach him for information, to answer questions, or to go over details. Up until the day of the memorial service (one week later), Cliff was working. On that Tuesday, he finally had a day off and we were greeted by another director, Erica, at DFW National Cemetery. (Cliff had let me know in advance that he would not be there for the service, of course.) Erica was very polite and cheery, well dressed, and knowledgeable. After the inurnment my mother and I met Erica at the funeral home around 12:15. We viewed the stateroom and requested some more tables and flower pedestals for our reception at 2PM. Erica and Kristen quickly brought us tables and helped us arrange the stateroom for our guests, and also the chapel for our memorial service. They helped me setup photographs on the table and decorate with flowers. We had use of all of the facilities and when guests arrived they were able to find our visitation room quickly and easily. A DVD I made of my grandmother was playing on loop during the visitation and our flowers were displayed throughout the room. The service went off without a hitch. The sound system for the minister and vocalist worked perfectly and clearly. The funeral home itself is beautifully appointed and even features a lovely fish tank in the lobby. I attended a funeral here yesterday. It was a nice facility but two employees in the hall just outside the chapel talked the entire time. I was toward the back and heard them through most of the service. You couldn't hear what they were talking about, just talking. I've never seen such a disresptful display at a funeral in my life. I don't know what they were taking about but it certainly wasn't as important as the person's life we were honoring. read more

I called Sparkman during a family crisis. Our daughter was scheduled for an amputation and I needed to find a company willing to cremate her small leg. I got Adrianna on the line and after I choked through my story, she calmly told me she would find out and get right back to me about it. At this time, no other funeral home or cremation business was willing or able to help me. I didn't expect a return call from her. Not only did she call back, she also told me that they would drive to Dallas from Richardson to pick up my daughter's leg, cremate it, and place it in an urn...at no charge. I bought a reasonably priced urn through them and awaited the day of surgery. That day finally came and as with most things, the unexpected occurred: the hospital asked that my daughter's leg be picked up the same day, before closing, or the piece would be discarded. Previously, pick-up had been scheduled for up to three days after the operation. I panicked. Adrianna answered my call and moved mountains to get possession of the remains. When the time came to gather the urn, I brought my mother-in-law and my baby girl still wrapped in her bandages. Adrianna was so careful...respectful...compassionate. Because of how she lovingly walked us through this dark period, I will never forget her or this company. If I ever need help in this sense again--knock on wood--they are the ONLY company I will call. read more

Prearranged plans by parents. Even pre-funeral plans r confusing w many decisions. Mtg w Adrianna. Said understaffed & phone interruptions. Added to stress w death of dad. Another lady relieved Adrianna on days off. Another guy supervised visitation. Felt rushed on first time viewing body. No time for family before interruptions. I voiced these concerns w Adrianna when she delivered death certificates & felt better. She seems to care but is overworked. Tiffany Hill and the team at Sparkman Hillcrest were amazing for my father's funeral. This is a very comfortable, updated facility. They are super accommodating of your family's wishes (they let us bring BBQ for the viewing) and they do a great job of walking you through the process and taking care of all of the details so that you don't have to worry. They are very professional and really care for the dignity of my deceased mom. The whole process was very smooth and they helped us each step of the way.
