I really enjoyed my Friday night venture out in Sparks with one of my favorite drink spots-…read moreTipsy's. A friend and I had discussed venturing somewhere for drinks and Tipsys was what popped in my head. Low and behold it was ladies night even better. I had saw a cotton candy drink and showed it to my friend and that was all the convincing that was needed! It was the perfect chill and relaxing vibe after a long and busy week. I love the glow of the place and the music was good. There was even security on site which is always good. We were fortunate enough to have Valerie the owner behind the counter, during my very first time to Tipsy's she was behind the counter. Most of the drinks for ladies night were $10, there were some really fun ones that were outside of that that are on my list for next time including a ducky in a bathtub, and even having a cocktail in a purse. I enjoyed chatting and commending Valerie for her and her families' creative business ventures. I loved learning about a new business soon to open- the Social Club which will be on Victorian. I love how more nightlife is coming to downtown Sparks to revitalize the area down there. I had been in the area and saw the signage and got super excited. I even learned that Señor Tequila's was a family member's business wow- so cool! I thought the drink- which was a special - Daydreaming which consisted of mango, passionfruit and prosecco. It was a beautifully served drink and tasted amazing. My friend even asked Valerie for some extra cotton candy and she was sweet enough to serve us extra in cups. Totally would have stayed to try more cocktails but my friend wanted to venture. Can't wait to come back to venture the ducky drink and some other cutesy ones.

Third, I just like playing nickel video poker in a relaxed environment and when it's at the bar, even better. Drinks come faster that way. Speaking of drinks, they have the well stuff for the rookies who just order a rum and coke or gin and tonic. But for those in the know, all you have to do is ask for the good stuff and they will pour it for you, and they do have the good stuff. Full disclosure, they are a whiskey bar first and foremost, so they have more of that than anything else, but just to name a few others, they do have DonQ rum and Don Julio tequila so unless you are a high maintenance drinker, you can find what you are looking for. It is also worth noting that they bill themselves as a craft cocktail bar, which means they can and will make you a very nice mixed drink, speaking of the high maintenance among us. There are pool tables and leagues are a regular thing here as well as a nice little William Hill sportsbook in the corner. It closes early though, so keep that in mind. There are no less than a dozen beers on tap at any given time as well as several bottle and can options. Plenty of TV's above the bar and Direct TV, so they get almost anything you are looking for. The bar slots seem to be pretty loose most of the time and although I rarely play video Keno, I have seen many people cash out hundreds of dollars on a fairly regular basis playing it. Now for the bad...It is a truck stop bar and that in itself is not a bad thing, but sometimes, well...Truckers can be a lot to take in. Also, you will come home smelling like smoke. Otherwise, stop by if you are in the 'hood and take a look for yourself. Good place to pregame. If nothing else, check out the gun collection throughout the casino and bar, it is worth the trip alone.

What a major local gem in Reno. It only took one visit for…read moreme to become a fan of this coffee shop/bar in Midtown. You can tell that a lot of thought and heart went into the place. The decor, the entertainment, the products all struck a chord with me. On one side - a super cute pour over/loose leaf tea shop with some records for sale. On the other - a cute bar and lounge area equipped with a vinyl player (Bring one in on a Monday for them to play). You have some house pants, checkered floors, and cool vinyl covers all over the walls that make for some great & hip atmosphere and vibes. Their restrooms, though small, and clean and cool. Their pour overs are so flavorful, strong, and made with beans grounded on your visit. I love that they're flavored and sweetened in a way that allows the coffee to shine. If you're into sweeter drinks, ask for a bit more sweetner or add in a brown raw sugar packet yourself from the straw station. I hear their chocolate pour over is a hit. Matchas - prepared in a similar fashion. Slightly sweetned with subtle flavorings. I tried their carrot cake matcha today and really enjoyed the housemade syrup they used to flavor it with. I also love that they offer loose leaf teas. Their chai was nice, fragrant and great with a little sweetner and milk. Shelby over at the bar area was sooo patient with explaining their menu and suggested a isla bonita pineapple shrub drink for a non alcoholic option. Similar to their other drinks on the coffee side, it was tamed in sugar yet still fun and flavorful. I really enjoyed the tang from the apple cider and the spice from the tajin chili powder as a contrasting flavor. Double check their website for bar and coffee shop hours as they differ from one another. And follow them on Instagram for updates on seasonal specials & themed gatherings. A lot of cool local DJs spin here for special events and parties during the holidays. Tip: sit next to the pour over station next to the menu. It's so entertaining, especially with Sydney working the station (thanks so much for the chat and entertainment. Honestly one of the friendliest baristas I've ever met in Reno). Both bars are set up in a way that allows for meeting others and socializing. Check it out. It's a good time. Notes *Catch live jazz music on Wednesdays here for free. *free street & neighborhood parking *bagels & cream cheese available at the coffee shop *they have fun with their seasonal drink specials. I dig it.

An interesting combination of coffee shop, bar, and vinyl lounge, EP is located on Wells Avenue. Took a break from checking out other neighborhood shops to sit and enjoy an afternoon cocktail with friends. Plenty of various comfy seating areas and about six spots at the bar. I tried the Float On, a boozy adult root beer float using local gelato from Bibo. It's a coffee shop, so my friend sipped the 9 to 5, their version of an espresso martini. The Soul Sipper, a beautiful orange colored cocktail was similar to an Aperol Spritzer. Located on the corner of Wells and Vassar, there's a little more street parking available.

Upon arrival my friend and I were debating on either the Crystal lounge or Lex Nightclub. While enjoying a cocktail plus a shot we overheard that RickRoss is performing tonight! No question, no brainer Lex it is. It was our lucky evening! Waiting to be escorted to our VIP on table we were concerned on what alcoholic beverage to select. We made a decision and picked our poison, A little Irish whisky for the night it is! Vince was our VIP host and was able to pull some strings and upgraded our section to one close up to the stage where the Boss was set to perform. Feeling really nice on how our host treated us, we entered the event . Thank you Vince! A true player in the game that represents the company with greatness! A little buzzed I am now mesmerized by countless beautiful females towards our section! Wow, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a curtain dancer right above our vip booth in the air performing. Not too long after that I see Fire dancers playing with flames inside the swimming pool. What a venue, what a night! Bottle service is now coming towards us with all the bells and whistles to enhance our experience. Bar backs sets the table quickly and then flashing lights fill the scene with a huge Happy Birthday Sign being waved by 2 gorgeous Cocktail waitresses. Awesome!!!! The DJ was playing all the best club bangers back to back to back! The crowd is hyped while security stayed tight! And then, Rick Ross the Boss comes through after much anticipation. The club is going wild as he recites hit after hit! I never seen Rick Ross perform live and was blown away by his stage presence and performance. A real artistic master. Let the after party begin! After his performance we took a GsR limo to The Peppermint Hippo! Wow now that's another review I'll have to spend time on. Check them out ladies and Gents. Hands down the best adult entertainment club right across the street from the Grand Sierra... They have karaoke on Friday nights and the best part is you actually get a turn to sing unlike West 2nd Street Bar. West 2nd Street Bar is always crawling with drunk 21 year olds screaming at the top of their lungs, and you almost have to bribe the DJ $20 to just be able to sing within the hour. I like the Library so much better because of this reason. The drink prices are not bad either. I love me a good Moscow Mule and the bartender makes them right. The hookah is not bad priced as well. Only $20 and it lasts us for about an hour and half and they are very attentive in making sure its not harsh and the coals are being turned. Overall, a great dive bar for playing pool, testing your voice at karaoke or just wanting to chill to have a drink and play pool. I recommend this place to anyone over 25 looking for great bar spot!

As for the music itself, the entertainment and DJ (specifically R Suave) is always so dated and often repetitive. There's lots of DJs in Reno so changing it up would be nice.
