This review is for Antonia for semi-permanent eyebrow brow and lash lift. I am visiting from Tokyo, but do not like the Japanese-style eyebrow permanent makeup (called "art-make" in Japanese). Unfortunately the stylist I was originally set with could not do my hair, so another stylist (Brittany) was able to come in on short notice and get my hair to the level I was hoping to achieve. I feel like I lucked out, bc Brittany takes no short cuts and is highly knowledgeable about hair and styling products. She's also a Senior stylist and is trained in multiple outlets like cut, style, colour, and mens' and womens' cuts. After spending almost a whole day at this salon, the team made sure I ate, was taken care of and kept complimenting me no matter how abstract I looked with all that foil stop my head. Everyone here is super friendly, and genuinely want to do a good job. I see them taking their time and really enjoying what they do. I came here with my friend today for manicure pedicure with design. We booked at 4 pm. The two ladies who did our nails did not speak English. Had to ask the manager how could she have two ladies working who I can not tell them what I even want? There is literally a language barrier. Ontop of being unable to explain what you want done, when we booked with sparkle we specifically came here because we wanted designs like we had seen on social media. The girls from the store on queen promote sparkle nail studio and we loved it, but was very disappointed at the service once we came in. We usually go to High Tech Nails on lakeshore in Etobicoke which do not do design, however they shave the dead skin off bottom of feet, they soak your hands before cutting cuticles, as well as massage your legs and feet with hot stones. At Sparkles, they did not cut off dead skin from bottom of feet, they told us they do no have enough time for us to get design (even though we specified early in the morning when we made the appointment that's we were specifically coming for design) and when we asked them how come they don't soak our fingers before cutting off the cuticles, they didn't understand what we were asking. So we asked for the manager and the manager explained they don't soak our hands because with gel nails the polish won't stay on as long when the nail is soaked, and this salon apparently has a a policy where they guarantee the polish to stay on a minimum of 7 days or they will redo it for you. This review is for (acrylic) nails only. I have always gotten gel nails, with one manicurist for 10 years. Recently, I had become unhappy with how they looked. My friend, Anna N (you can see her review below), got her nails done here and described this salon as very special in its ~nail capabilities~. After reviewing the instagram (I encourage you to do so), I was really astounded at how professional, beautiful, and artistic the nails looked. I came in for a "consult" where I basically asked a bunch of questions and explained what I wanted, and Jordi was super nice, answered all my questions, not rushing at all. I booked my first appointment, specifying that I wanted someone senior and experienced. At my first appointment, I learned that they charge for colouring nails (lol); even one colour is 15 - 20 (20 for shellac, 15 for any colour). Ladies, this salon charges a premium price, and this is definitely the most expensive salon you can go to. Although I think it's funny to charge for painting nails (usually it's part of the refill), I gladly do it because my nails look like a million bucks. I used to pay 25 for nails, and now I pay 100+, and I wouldn't go back. Yes, you can go get your nails done for less, like 50, but they will not be the quality that they are here. I had my appointment with Miki, who was super cute, nice, and did a fantastic job. I loved that it was important to her that I was happy with the result. I was very happy and came to her for my refill. I initially intended to come after 4 weeks, but I also wanted to test out the integrity of the nails and waited 6 weeks before I came in - I didn't even have any chipping or lifting. I won't wait that long in the future, but these nails do last long, and they looked fantastic even after 6 weeks. I am VERY particular with how I like my nails, and Miki really did a perfect job. I love them so much I drive all the way from Vaughan (like 40 km), to get my nails done. If you don't mind paying quality, come here. Your nails and hands will look phenomenal. read more

I really don't understand these lacklustre reviews. I have been here 4 times now and every single time I've had nothing but great service. Friendly, professional and willing to explain (until finding this place I avoided getting my nails done as I always though of it as unnecessary and time consuming) new products. Since first coming here in the early summer I have moved but still make the effort to make the trip downtown when I want an appointment. Speaking of appointments, not once have I had an issue getting one. I know I said I have only gone 4 times its because my manicure lasts so long I don't need to go often! I had an awful experience with the stylist Alessandria. She told me I had "gross trashy split ends" and I would be stupid if I didn't get a hair cut with her. She also was super rude when I didn't want to do additional services (masks etc so). She acted mad the rest of the appt and was yanking my hair so aggressively and then laughing? The service ended up being horribly expensive (over $500) and it was communicated before we started that it would only be $375. I just paid it and left because I didn't want to deal with the situation anymore - anyways it was stressful at best!! Do not go to her!! read more

I bought a Groupon-type deal for a full set of mink eyelash extensions at Sparks in October 2011. I had to call a few times before I could actually make an appointment (-1 point!), however, I actually had to call back and re-schedule a day or so before the original appointment, and Sparks easily accomodated the time change. I was a bit weary when they immediately wanted to know if I was using a voucher, which I understand from a business-end -- but it also really makes me as a customer a bit hesitant because it makes me feel like I'm going to receive lower-grade service simply because I'm not a "full paying" customer who just walked in. Once at the salon, it was nice enough inside. A bit cramped, but pretty and clean. I remember reading a review about Sparks previously, and people were complaining that some customers were offered water/drinks, while others were not. I'm assuming management really noticed these comments, because I was seated, and then almost abruptly, someone came and asked me if I wanted anything to drink lol...But, hey, at least it was offered! I waited about 10 minutes (after my original appointment time) before I was led in for the application procedure. The actual service: I have been to a number of lash boutiques in the city (Winks on Danforth, etc) and in general comparison, I would rate Sparks' lash services about a 7 out of 10. I was in no pain (and if you are EVER in pain during a lash application, something IS wrong: you should be so relaxed, you're at risk of falling asleep during the procedure!) My technician was Megumi, who was very sweet and careful. She also explained the procedure, and made a note of the lash lengths she was applying on a business card so that it would be easy when I came back for a refill. She was a fair bit slower than other technicians I've had, but I always prefer that over speedy but poor application. My lashes looked fab: I'm lucky in that I've never had an actual bad experience where I left looking cock-eyed or anything brutal like that. I wanted a bit more of that 'doe-eyed' look with more lashes concentrated at the corners of my eyes, but for the most part, I was very satisfied. With the proper care, the lashes lasted me about 2.5 weeks. I did not go back for a refill (I tend not to...I like to give my real lashes a break.) I would return for more lashes at Sparks. The service is a bit brusque, at first, but the place is cute and I appreciate that management at least TRIES to better itself based on customer reviews (like this one!) If you do go for lashes, and find a technician you like, ALWAYS ask for them for future appointments. Don't risk a new person if you're perfectly satisfied with the person who worked with you last. I've had my hair colored here and gotten my nails done. I was happy with the balayage result! As for the nail, gel mani is quite expensive considering they don't soak your hands and cut your cuticles. Nail techs are very meticulous however it's hard to communicate with them as their English is not good. Also you have to indicate if you want a even a simple design at time of booking otherwise they won't be able to accommodate., aka you have to be sure of what you want PRIOR to booking. Also it is VERY hard to reach someone by phone at this salon if you have a question or want a consultation by prior to booking. read more

My eyes were burning the entire time and I was not able to open my eyes for about 10 mintues after the extentions were completed. I've been to Sparks a few times now and each time I've left super happy! Came twice to get my gel nails did and both experiences were really good. I was hestitant to go at first because they're fairly new but the girls are super sweet and the receptionist was really informative. They're still trying to figure out the groove of their business so I definitely want to come back to support. Hair: Stylist Raf did a really good job on my sister's hair. Linh cut my girlfriend's hair in the summer and she really liked it. Nails: I've done the gel nails twice and LOVED it! Although the nail technicians may not speak fluent english (uh d'uh theyre from Japan), they understand pictures so that wasn't too hard. Quiet but really polite girls. Products: Kevin Murphy is a really exclusive hair product brand so i was kind of surprised it was available at Sparks!! Picked up a bunch of stuff, it's def worth the $$$. (got the dry shampoo, conditioner, and shampoo) The only thing I wish they had was purple shampoo!! Space: They make great use of their space, it's not huge but the design is really cute! Kind of easy to miss if you dont know the area but just peep the pink sign and the white little bench outside. Overall experience: Really pleasant! I'm definitely going to be a regular there. The kindest staff. I had my lashes done here and it was amazing. I had to late cancel my first appointment due to my dogs illness and they didn't charge me. They informed me that they are all animal lovers. The next day I went in for my appointment, the staff asked how my dog was and accommodated my lateness. I should have read the reviews! I wanted to do something special for my good friend who is getting married and is also a mother to be. I researched somewhere for myself the bride and two other girls to get our lashes and pedicures done - a mini girls day, something special for the bride. I found this place on IG and the work looked great. I bragged to my friends how great it looked but WOW was i wrong! I booked 4 lash app's and 3 pedis (a decent chunk of business i'd say). The booking itself was a bit of a hassle but i booked in advance on purpose to ensure nothing went wrong for the bride! We got there early for our pedicure app's and waited as the pedicurist was with another client. By the time she was done with the previous client our app was already 20 mins late. But I said nothing. When I sat down for the pedicure I mentioned I wanted a design the pedicurist said she had no time and this was only scheduled as a "pedicure". I have done zillions of pedicures at nicer salons than this one and I have never been refused a design. It's not like I wanted a Picasso painted on my TWO toes. I just wanted some dumb sea shells glued onto my TWO toes. The pedicurist called over the girl at the front desk to try and resolve the issue but somewhere communication got lost when i was trying to explain that a design will only take a few mins and my app is already 20 mins behind - so who was really to blame for the pedicurist not having enough time? The front desk called over who I later found out to be the manager, when the troll came out of the back. She approached me and my friend without introducing herself and scowled at us "whats the issue?" my friend explained the situation and very rudely the manager said "we don't have time" As I mentioned to her my app was already running late, she was unconcerning and said basically now the pedicurist will have to rush my app and I get no design and continuously rolled her eyes the whole time. We decided to cancel our lash app's that were to follow the pedicures. When the manager heard we had cancelled our lash app's she came out like an upset child and said we could not come back to the salon again LOL..... Luckily the pedicurist who was super sweet and talented! finished my pedicure with a design. but not before the troll came back out to tell the pedicurist she had one minute to finish my feet LOL! I have never been treated like this at a salon where your appointment gets cut for time, you can't get what you want and you pay $$$ price for the service. I didn't want to ruin the brides experience so I let her enjoy her time there. STAY AWAY!!! I went to sparks for a full set of lashes. During my next fill appointment, the Lash Technician proceeded to tell me that my lashes were old and I needed to have them removed and pay for a full set again (the new set was put on 4 weeks prior). This was the worst set of lashes I had ever gotten and I have been doing lashes for years. When I complained to management, they blamed it on my and said it was because I waited 4 weeks instead of 3 (even though I told them I couldn't do the fill until 4 weeks and they said it was fine). I came to Sparks for a brow wax and tint. In all honesty, the place I normally go to was fully booked, but my brows needed a little love and I was impatient. Unfortunately, I'm less than pleased with how they turned out. The tint was okay. The wax, however...the shapes are noticeably different, with different thicknesses and the inside of the brow trimmed and tweezed too short on one eye. Now, is this the absolute end of the world? No. Some brow powder will hopefully make it less noticeable. Maybe I've just been spoiled by other incredibly precise aestheticians, but I'm left feeling pretty disappointed with my decision to entrust my brows to someone other than my two go-to brow experts. read more

I think it's time I put my two cents in about Sparks - they really haven't received any good reviews so far, and it almost stopped me from going there. However, they're right down the street from me and I'd been looking for a place that does lashes without paying extortionate prices, so I thought I'd give them a go. First experience, I booked for a lash appointment, with their lowest level lashes. When I got in and spoke to the technician, they told me they rarely do anything less than the Mink lashes (which were more expensive) but they gave them to me for 15% off, and when they were all said and done, they looked gorgeous! They really know how to put on a great set (and I've been getting lashes for the last 3 years, so I know a good one when I see it!). Came back for a fill 4 weeks later, and was really happy with the results. Since then, I've continued to go in for fills (something I could never do back in Vancouver, only one fill allowed per set). The fills are half the price of the sets so it's actually made getting the lashes quite affordable. Definitely more affordable than most of the other places I've seen doing lashes in Toronto. I just went in to get the OPI gel nails (they have the OPI, gellish and Shellac colours, so TONS of selection and some great colours). I had been looking to get them painted like a french manicure, but using colours and no other salons that I want to would do it. Not these girls! It was easy for them to turn my nails into a work of art, and some of the other, more intricate designs were even crazier! They're all Japanese girls in there and they know there stuff. Very friendly, everything was clean and tidy, all in all, they've made a repeat client out of me. I have been coming to Sparks for years and have always through they did a great job on my hair - cuts, colour, roots, balayage. Once they opened again after the COVID shut down I found their safety processes adequate - they took my temperature, they encouraged me to wash my hands, the salon was spaced out and everyone wore masks. I felt safe. I had a second appointment this week and it seemed all protocols were not being used. They did not take my temperature, although I saw that they did do it inconsistently as new people came in, they had way more than 10 people in this small space with 3 hair chairs being used. I was not 6 feet away from the person beside me so I moved my chair myself to get a bit of distance. Eventually they put up a plastic divider after one stylist said it was a "pain in the ass". The stylist next to mine kept sniffing with presumably a runny nose, her mask did not stay above her nose and I saw her rubbing her nose without washing her hands after. The stylists moved from space to space borrowing equipment or product without washing anything. I felt like I had to duck and weave as other people entered my 6 feet zone - as clients came down from their appointments upstairs they would stop and chat with the stylists who were with their clients - again not maintaining 6 feet at all. Although there is a sign saying that talking would be minimized the stylists were often yelling across the room at each other. I work in a hospital in clinical work and none of this was appropriate. I was very happy with my hair and I really do like the girls that work there but spent the entire appointment time feeling like I had to take my safety into my own hands. EDIT: AVOID! So about a week into my balayage my hair got extremely frizzy and irreversibly damaged (imagine straw). I came back to Sparks for Keratin and Olaplex treatment to save my hair but it didn't work, even after months of intensive treatment (hair mask, specialty shampoo & conditioner etc). That was because the Spark' s hairstylist lightened up my hair in one session. Later on after speaking to several experienced hairstylists, I found out that NO knowledgeable stylist would EVER lighten dark hair for balayage in one session; it always take multiple sessions before the final look is achieved to ensure your hair remain healthy and not damaged. I ended up having to cut all of the balayage part because they got unimaginably tangled to the point no Sephora expensive hair cream/detangler/hair mask or fancy comb could detangle them. Please choose another salon if you want to have a balayage if you don't want to end up like me having to cut most of your hair or stuck with extremely damaged, dry, frizzy and tangled hair. I would suggest Lisa Thi Dinh - the wait is long but it's worth it in the long term considering that you save a lot of money on fancy hair products to reverse the damage and their coloring style looks superiorly better/more flattering than at Sparks. ******** Old: I did full head blonde balayage with Brittany and couldn't have been happier. I have typically Asian hair: deep dark black, thick with a lot of orange and yellow undertones. But Brittany managed to transform my hair into a beautiful ashy dark blonde within one session! She is knowledgable with asian hair and took no shortcut to give my hair the best colors. Highly recommended! It took me 5 hours to get my hair done, typical session length for dark hair is 5-6.5 hours. I would suggest you call in, let the person know your hair condition to know if the timeslot you book is long enough to help you acheive the look. read more

This is hands down THE spot for nails and art in Toronto. A favourite of mine and a few celebrities! I got a great shellac mani/pedi with art that lasted a solid 3 weeks without chipping. Their waxing service is grade A, proper technique great cleanup. Inside, the salon is beautifully decorated with massage and iPads incorporated into the pedicure stations. It is immaculate, not a thing out of place. The staff is highly trained and knowledgeable in every aspect. Fun, good time girls who were nothing less than Enthusiastic. Honestly, I've come here many times since I moved to the neighborhood and thought they were good, a little disorganized but good overall. I normally just come in for a brow wax. 2 issues I have that make this 3 stars - 1 I bought one of their waxing packages because I come here regularly and it seemed like a good deal. The problem is... they don't keep track of how many times you've used the package so I paid for the service and when they called to tell me I had services left they just said 2 or 3 as if they hadn't been keeping track... isn't this their responsibility if they are selling a long term package? 2 - I came in for a pedicure, specifically because they have massage chairs... or so I thought. They don't work. So they charge $50 for a standard pedicure. Next time I'll be going around the corner to Sekai or Show Nails where its $15-17 cheaper and just as friendly of service. Management should really do a better job keeping up with the place and putting better organization in place. read more

I've gotten my hair done at this salon numerous times and I've always been happy with the result. My hair stylist Alessandria does an amazing job and is lovely to chat with. I have thick hair that takes a long time to colour and cut and I love that the stylists focus on one person at a time. I've never felt rushed or like I'm inconveniencing them with all of my hair. Other salons I've been to the hairdresser will have 3 clients at the same time as my appointment and it's very rushed. I have been to this salon a few times as it is located 2 minutes from my home. I have had both hair and nail services done here and overall have been happy with the results, I will however not be returning as they are WAY overpriced. Hair color (no highlights) - Cost me over $120 with a JUNIOR stylist. This did not include a blowdry so I left with frizzy damp hair. Blowdry with a senior stylist - Cost me over $70! Blowdry with a Junior stylist - $35 (this seems fair and is more in line with the other salons in the area) Manicure - $30!!! This was not sheliac and I have no idea how they justify charging double of what the other salons in the neighborhood charge. Also, on two occasions I received a call only hours before my appointment letting me know that they could not actually take me as someone had called in sick, it seems they send people home if they are not fully booked for the day. The salon is cute and they use good products but as someone who goes for weekly manicures and blowouts it is just far too expensive *Also, I think it is pretty obvious to anyone who reads the 5 star filtered reviews that they are being written by either the owner or a staff member (over 20 postings raving about the salon but each the review is the "customers" only review on Yelp. Instead of wasting all that time writing fake reviews the owner/staff should step back and consider the feedback on here. I have fake acrylic nails and was looking to step up my manicure routine from my regular ol' gel refill and OPI polish change every 2 weeks. A friend suggested we go together to try out Sparks 3D Nail Art (something they are well known for). My friend made an appointment for both us on an early Sunday morning. I ended up going alone since my friend couldn't make it, and I basically had the salon all to myself cause it was DEAD that morning. This was absolutely a blessing because there was no rush to get me out the door. Curious to see what the quality of work is like when it's busier... Having already looked at their price list and called for quotes on 3D nail Art - (they charge per nail and a heavy design can go upwards to $5 per nail), I knew the appointment was going to be pricey, but I was desperate for a quality manicure since almost every nail salon I've visited basically messed up my nails. I settled on a simple half-moon manicure with 1 gold rhinestone on each nail. This design cost $20 on top of the fees for the shellac, refill, and nail replacement. So the final price was REALLY up there, I also sat for over 2 hours for what I believed was a relatively simple design. However, it was well worth the time and money; my nail artist took her time; she was meticulous, careful, fixed all her mistakes and gave me a half-moon manicure with clean lines and near perfect symmetry. When doing the gel refill (which many salons over do) she made sure to keep the shape of my nail natural and not too bulky. She filed down my claws just right and they are at my perfect length. I also had an awesome chat about life and living in the City with the receptionist whilst getting my nails did so that was pleasant! I'm inspired to go back eventually and already concocting a Prada themed 3D manicure for my next visit. read more

I believed in the hype and finally decided to give this place try. The first time I came here I asked for a gel refill and I walked out with the best set of nails I've ever had. They were filed to perfection and amazing everything was perfect. No complains. Although I'm not sure why I ended up paying $90 for nail refill. It didn't even bother me because I was so in awe of the amazing job the nail technician did. So two weeks later I convince my friend to get her gel nails refilled with me at Sparks because I kept telling her what a wonderful job they did and and I book the appointment for both of us. I asked the lady on the phone how much a gel refill was to confirm the price and she said it starts at $45. The second time my nails were not as nice and the filing was really rushed because my nail technician had a client waiting for her. Anyway I'm not sure why I was charged $70 for a basic gel refill and my friend was charged $50 for the same basic gel refill. All we got was a refill and change the color of our polish. Its weird how I keep getting over charged with no explanation. My friend and I both will not be coming back here. read more

I just had a manicure here and was overall satisfied. The nail techs were both super chipper, despite it pissing with rain outside and I was the last client of the night. I wouldn't blame anyone for being less than enthused. But not these chicks. Totally happy. My friend and I were in for an express shellac. I was totally impressed by the waterless manicure because it's so much better for your nails. As my friend and I were discussing colours I said a million times that I wanted purple. Because I'm tacky and I wanted the brightest, neonist, purple ever. So when my nail tech asked me what colour I wanted, I said tacky neon purple. I pointed to the fake colour chip nail thingy. So she starts painting my nails and it's totally pink. And I don't like pink. So I say, 'is that pink.' And she says, 'no way. it'll dry darker.' And I say, 'cool.' Then I spend the rest of the manicure blabbing away about my dog to my friend. When I finally look down... I'm confused. The thing with this pink nail polish... it never got darker. It stayed pink. She totally took the wrong bottle. Kind of a bummer. But my nails still look awesome. And it's been about eight months since my last manicure... so good job! read more

I'm a regular at Sparks and have always experienced professional, quality service. The girls there are polite, attentive and very accomodating. Each time I've been I've had a shellac manicure and a regular pedicure and have found them to be professionally done, no issues with chipping and in fact I find my pedicures seem to last longer than most. Most recently I even splurged for the nail art and have received many compliments on the creative design and look of my nails (thanks Marie!). I've recommended the salon to other friends and they are all equally pleased. I really appreciate the cleanliness of the place, the fact that the service is not rushed and the overall fun and friendly atmosphere. So keep up the great work! This is by far the best salon within the vicinity. The space is small but extremely clean and well maintained, and the ladies are very professional who support each other in a team environment. It's not the cheapest but you get what you are paying for. My health is more important to me than saving a little bit of money so I am happy to pay for the premium experience. read more

Let me first start by saying that I am not from Toronto, but I was visiting, and desperate for an eyelash fill, so I decided to give Sparks a try...mistake #1. If you enjoy overpaying for sub-par work, then I would suggest you book an appointment here; otherwise stay faaaaar away. For an obscene price, I got: a junior stylist, an uneven distribution of eyelashes from my left compared to my right eye (my right had noticably more), a lost afternoon, and a heavy bill. I want nothing more than to write a good review about this place but I can't bring myself to do it. I visited 4 weeks ago before I went away on vacation. I phoned in advance and made an appointment telling the women I spoke with what I wanted, what I already had and asked for a price as I was on a budget going into the appointment. For some context, I went in with UV Gel nails that I had been getting done for 2 years at a salon in Markham. I told the women I spoke with what I already had and she informed me that the removal would be $10. So with the Shellac and removal in total it would cost me $55.00. Pricey - yeah, but I thought it would be worth it. When I got there I was greeted kindly and my nails were looked at. The lady that did them (don't remember her name - Japanese lady) began to remove my old nails. I'd say 3/4 through the removal, she looks at me and says "by the way, the removal is going to cost $35". I was shocked and inquired why. She said they were taking longer then she thought they would to remove and they weren't Shellac. I told her that I had informed the women I booked with of that and was still told it was going to be $10. The women got up and went to speak with her manager (?) and came back with their services booklet. She pointed out while there was not a written cost in the booklet for removal (the only removal listed was shellac for $10) that due to how long it was taking to get my nails off, it would cost me $30. I really should have argued more but at this point I had no nails on and was kind of in their hands, so to prevent me being asked to leave with unfinished nails I sucked it up. She did my nails well - the shape was great and the colour selection was nice. It was when I asked for a design is when I continued to feel ripped off. I asked for a small tribal design on 1 nail per hand (actually 3 stripes with polka dots). She quickly told me that it would cost $25 on top of my now already $85 nail cost. I refused it and just asked her to use 2 colours of Shellac instead (which to my surprise was not an additional cost...). In the end my nails looked nice but I ended up paying $90 with tip included for a basic Shellac manicure. I am so disappointed by my experience because I was hoping to make Sparks my new salon. My advice? Don't go here. I thought by asking ahead of time how much things would cost I would save myself a headache. Instead I ended up doubling my nail budget and leaving with a sour taste in my mouth. Good luck. read more

Had my hair cut by Rhoda at the King Street location as my usual stylist lives out of the city and is on maternity leave. I was thoroughly pleased with her work as I was going from long hair to a short cut. She was very meticulous with her work and asked me throughout the cut for further feedback. The style has been really easy for me to manage on my own (always a feat as I do not like to spend hours on my hair) and I am receiving compliments from everyone I know on how well the style is suited to me. So glad that Rhoda was able to fit me in and I definitely recommend her work to anyone looking for a new place to get their hair styled. As a bonus she also works out of the Liberty Village location a couple days a week too! read more

I recently moved to Liberty Village and was looking for a hair dresser. I read some good things here about Rafael so I decided to give this place a try. I am SO happy I went here! Rafael is punctual, smart and he knows how to cut hair! He took the time to do a consultation before we started. He quickly knew what kind of look I wanted and brought some good insight and recos for my hair. My hair looked and felt amazing (he also gave me a killer blow out). I consider the real test is washing + styling a new cut yourself the day after you visit a salon. I am happy to report my hair fell perfectly into place. I use to go to this salon every 2-3 weeks to have my nails done. I would get shellac and nail art done. They do an amazing job. I was a regular for about 8 months. One of my last visits was back in May 2013. I got regular shellac and a design done with polish on one nail. After my spending $60-100 on my every visit I was shocked when I was over charged for a very simple design done with polish. It took my manicurist no time and none of the regular tools I use to get my crazy nail designs were used this time. It was simple nail polish I was being charged an extra $12 for. I found it to be rude and a slap in the face. I was a regular customer that always spent money at this salon. On this particular visit I had gotten something so simple done and was being over charged! 4 months later I decided to give the salon another chance. The same scenario occurred. This time I confronted the girl at the cash (same girl from the previous experience) and she told me that a design was done on my nails. There was no design it was sparkle polish only and I was being charged $12. I will never return to this salon! They do not value their customers and are out to rob you!!!! They have no sense of customer service. I have never been so insulted before by a business in this industry. They also say that you are getting a special price for "happy hour" and when you go to pay 3 of the staff members are gathered around you and none realize that they are over charging you and not giving you the "happy hour" price. I used to love this place for pedicures and manicures alike. They recently renovated and swapped the much more comfortable, reclining pedicure chairs, for a bench seat that is 90 degrees straight up and seriously uncomfortable. Worst part is, they did it all to gain about a foot of floor space. Before they started putting polish on, I had back pain. Also, the rap music is too loud and not relaxing at all. Sorry Sparks - but as the old adage goes: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. read more
