A benefit of this club is occasional text messages about upcoming special events. One such event was being sponsored by one of my favorite cigar brands so I asked my cigar-loving friends if anyone else was interested and one of them agreed. We decided to just meet there on the day of the event. I was a little surprised when I walked in and saw the store was empty, save for the man behind the counter, Steve. He must have seen the puzzled look on my face and asked if everything was OK. I asked him about the special event and he told me that was going on at their Reno store. Reno store?!? Yeah. I had no idea there was more than one. Since it was around rush hour and I was supposed to meet my friend here, I decided just to grab a smoke there and wait it out. When I informed Steve of my decision, he said their other store was "just down McCarran." I replied my need to relax with a good cigar far outweighed my desire to play Russian Roulette on the streets at rush hour. We both chuckled and Steve showed me to the humidor. I quickly picked out a few cigars from the beautiful assortment in their humidor, including one from my favorite brand. Once I paid, I settled down in a very comfortable overstuffed recliner and went through the ritual of lighting my cigar. I also took a minute to text the change of events to The Boss who responded she might drop by the store, too. She doesn't smoke cigars, but doesn't mind the smoke and ambience of a good cigar lounge. My friend arrived a little later and had the same reaction I did. When Steve delivered the "bad" news and offered to give him directions to the Reno store, I added it was "just down McCarran." Steve snickered and I explained the inside joke to my friend. A little while later, The Boss arrived. By this time, my friend and I were sitting in the lounge area enjoying a smoke with Steve. She say down in the recliner next to me as ked for the details of this change. I told her what had happened and it was my friend's turn to point out the other Ruiz store was "just down McCarran." This was how the rest of the evening went. We weren't the only people who thought the event was at the Sparks location and the "just down McCarran" joke lasted well into the night. A couple of other guys made the same decision we did and just stayed. Soon there was lively conversation amongst people who were, just a few minutes prior, complete strangers. That's the magic of a good cigar lounge. This is a local "chain," if you can call two stores a chain, and they stock a great selection of brands and include some hand-rolled ones made here in Reno. The prices are as reasonable as you will find anywhere in the area and the atmosphere can't be beat.

They REFUSE to order better options after years of me requesting & them promising they would. 3. The most unhappy, unfriendly, and unhelpful staff you can imagine. 9/10 times I go there, I'm not greeted, which I don't even care about, but they full blown ignore you until they have to help you. Don't even bother asking them questions for help because you'll only annoy them and get anything but that. There's multiple staff members there that literally look like they hate their job, their life, being there, and especially hate people. They're straight up rude. I think only one of them is alright and it's the blonde guy. He's not even nice or friendly he just isn't rude. Like is it my fault? The first time she "helped" me it was like this but I didn't care at all. The second time i started to notice a pattern. And the third time just pressed me bc it was by far the worst. She has a fantastic routine so let me play it out for you. *You walk in and say "hi"- you're lucky if she even looks at you but regardless she full blown ignores you, then walks to the area where customers look at their selection, once she's there she stands with her neck bent at a 90 degree angle staring at her phone until you say something. Now you're looking at their selection of 5 juices that look produced out of a garage... Naturally you ask questions for more info. Like "do you know what flavors you have?" She replies: "no"... okay.. Then you say: "well what flavor is that one?".. She replies "no".. Like wym no bruh who says that when assisting a customer??? is she gonna help me or just say no?.. So you ask her for her recommendation on the best juice since they all look FDA disapproved and she replies "I only vape disposables so no" and gives you a dirty look this time Picture this: You ask about a specific flavor named 'white moon flower'- She replies: "well it must taste like white moon flower" and stares at you without expression. I mean it's actually remarkable. So after the disturbing interaction, you pay and before heading out you say "thank you" and she full blown ignores you again. After she hands over your change she immediately returns her neck to 90 degrees and starts scrolling. Imagine you're a regular, she'll assume what you want, walk to get it while her neck is bent at 90 degrees the whole time, then check you out as fast as possible, ignore you the entire time, then go back to scrolling ASAP.
