I can use two words to describe this establishment - Miracle Workers. But I can't find enough or the right words to ever Thank them. My son called me in a panic a week before his wedding. When he went to pick up his fiancé's ring, he discovered that the clerk at local jewelers in Arizona, (where he was living and getting married) had quit without placing his order. They apologized and said that unfortunately they would not be able to get one in before the wedding. He was heartbroken. Armed with some pictures of what he was looking for, I went in search of a ring around Raleigh. Every shop shook their heads, and agreed it was impossible to get what he wanted on such short notice, and wished me luck. Everyone that is except Jo Sparrow. Jo immediately took charge and started making calls. That was the afternoon of Good Friday; most distributors were closed for the holiday. She didn't despair. She asked me to trust her and she would get the parts in on time. Yes parts...rings I found need to be assembled. We selected all the components and then Jo made me an offer I couldn't refuse on a center stone. It was bigger than what my son had been looking at but it fit in his budget. What girl would be upset with a larger diamond! Monday came and the orders were placed. By Wednesday the ring was assembled. When I went to pick it up, it was not exactly what my son had said he wanted - it was BETTER! It was so beautiful that I could not even thank them properly because I couldn't stop crying. I knew my son and future daughter-in-law would love it. Jo personally took it to the Post Office and even sent it overnight to my son at her cost! Two days later, the wedding went off without a hitch and my son and his wife are both extremely happy and grateful to Jo and Deb for turning what could have been a disaster into a fairytale wedding. read more

Sparrowood Jewelers designed my engagement ring and our wedding bands. I absolutely cannot rave enough about their work. It is stunning, exquisite, extremely high-quality and beautifully done. Jo who owns Sparrowood and her fantastic staff worked with us to make this a very special experience. We wanted to incorporate an heirloom diamond that had personal meaning for my family; she guided us through the process start-to-finish and was very thoughtful (and candid!) in advising on what stones could work in what settings. Sparrowood created for me an absolutely dreamy engagement ring--18kt white gold three stone brilliant round cut diamonds in a trellis setting with tiny pave' set diamonds going down the shank of the ring. The custom work they did to make this ring perfectly matched the heirloom stone we were incorporating and went well above and beyond what I had imaged--romantic, delicate and feminine. It is clear that Jo is incredibly picky about diamonds and uses only the very highest quality--I get compliments all the time about the sparkle of my ring. They even found for me a matching pave' diamond band already in stock to keep it cost effective for us and still have it pair up perfectly. Their willingness to be flexible made it possible to have everything we wanted! Throughout the process, they were incredibly attentive, prompt, very knowledgeable and generally an absolute joy to work with. I could not be happier with my experience. I really wanted a unique wedding band so I stopped by one afternoon after seeing a photo on instagram of an amazing ring their custom jewelry designer, Audrey, had created. I met Deb when I came into the shop and she picked up on my style almost immediately! Over the next few weeks she and Jo helped me create the wedding band of my dreams using a mix of new stones as well as several worn by my late mother. When my fiancé came by the store to see the design, he loved it so much that he decided to have his band custom made as well. Our rings turned out absolutely stunning! Audrey is truly an artist! I have been going to Sparrowood Jewelers since the store opened in Olde Raleigh Shopping Center. I have know Jo Sparrow for as many years. Would I recommend Sparrowood Jewelers you best I would and I have. The jeweler is both unusual and top quality. As for the staff they are friendly and knowledgeable. If you cannot find what you are looking for they will help you design it. I designed two pieces and everywhere I go I get compliments on how pretty and unusual they are. The store is small but it gives you that friendly warm feeling you want when you are purchasing fine jeweler and there is no high pressure to buy when you go into look. My wife and I have been doing almost ALL our jewelry business with Sparrowood since we found them three or four years ago. Although the shop is "smallish" their collection of fine jewelry is amazing, and they can get almost anything within a day or two. But most impressive is their custom service. Once they know what you like and need they'll go out of their way to get it, design it, or whatever it takes to make a satisfied customer. I even got a call one year when they had acquired a companion pendant for some earrings I got for my wife.....would I like to come by and take a look for a possible Christmas gift....no obligation, of course.
