This a updated review I first wrote 6 years ago. Still same Wonderful food and service. Place screams 1980 so unique so damn clean. How cool they add Chicken n Waffles a favorite weekend brunch dish spot on. Only on Saturday a popular Soup be Chicken n Dumplings Wow I say. Had a proper Greek Omelette not found at many places. Eggs, Gyro, Feta, Tomato n Onions Saute together OMG a must try they plate up Breakfast all day. She got a marvelous Chicken Greek Salad and the Sparta Burger which was 2 1/3 patties she added another for a Full Pound of Love what a great Burger. Going back really soon to work deep into the menu. Find them on Facebook, Yelp, Google, and TripAdvisor #spartafamilydining

This is the turkey club grinder. It is as large as a pillow. Order this. It's loaded with bacon and tons of fresh turkey.

Very typical family restaurant/coney island menu. The service, cleanliness and quality of the food is however, not typical - it is far above average for this type of restaurant. I went for lunch a few days after they opened. Being in restaurant operations for the past 13 years myself, I was impressed at how well the front-of-the-house worked together. They also had great attitudes and acted as true "brand ambassadors" by speaking highly about the food and the ownership. By the way, try one of the grinders. Great Job! Update!! I moved Sparta up to 5 stars as they continue to be consistently good at providing fresh food at an un-beatable value.

    Delicious Sparta Skillet.

I need a good breakfast late Saturday morning after an early Christmas Shop. I remember a friend saying he thought Sparta might be affiliated with the "Farmers Cafe" out in Carlton. I love that place so I thought I'd try Sparta. It did not disappoint!! I ordered the "Sparta Skillet". That's hash browns on the bottom of the skillet then bits of ham, bacon, sausage links cut into small chunks, then shredded Cheese then topped with sausage gravy then Three eggs. It sounds like a lot because it is. It was delicious. I had toast and coffee too. Everything was perfect. The staff was friendly and attentive. My coffee cup was never empty neither was my water glass. The bill was about $11 + tip. Which seems high but there was a lot of food. The only negative was my own fault. I sat at the counter near the door and every time it opened there was a cold chill. But like I saw I'd that was my fault I chose my seat. Great breakfast I'll definitely go again.

Mind you I had already eaten some of the chicken ! Chicken was so flavorful and juicy

Instead of having an owner (Louie) yelling at customers and staff, waitresses are picking up the slack.. It was "uncomfortable"..

We were seated almost immediately, greeted by a pleasant young woman who took us to a comfy booth. Service quickly arrived as we ordered the usual- a water and a piping hot cup of joe. Classic. The menu was full of tantalizing options, each calling our name - "order me...." - and we struggled to decide on the Heavenly Hash, over easy, seasoned fries. Classic. A shared glance at the 'Mexican Omelette' and we knew that I had to order it once again. Served with a crispy spread of home fries and a soft side of toast? Classic. My partner nursed her coffee, a contemplative look on her face, an itch in her fingers for a cigarette. Menthol. Classic. We poured over the local paper looking for clues on our next case.. This wild world is changing into something not even I can recognize anymore. Except crime. Crime never changes. A ringtone - my phone. A call from the department chief. Time to go. Great service. First off, let's talk about the food. I ordered the steak and eggs, and it was cooked to absolute perfection-juicy, flavorful, and exactly how I wanted it. It's easily some of the best comfort food in the area, packed with flavor, and hit the spot perfectly. home the second you walk through the door. Our waitress could pass for Sydney Sweeneys younger sister. She friendly and bubbly. We ordered steak n eggs, Philly cheesesteak, lemon soup and coney dogs. It came out in a decent amount of time. Steak n eggs was fine. My friend liked the lemon soup. The Philly cheesesteak was surprisingly good. The bun was soft and toasted. The seasoning was delish. We also never tried a coney dog from MI, so it was pretty good. Mainly because of the snap the dog had to it. The restroom however looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. At the end, we asked the check to be split. She didn't do it. So yeah, overall, would I come back? Meh, probably not.

Two times I ordered a BLT and french fries. I'm super picky about fries...I ordered them well done both times and they were PERFECTION. I have no idea what type of oil they fry them in, but they were tasty, crisp, and hot...just how I like them. And the order was huge! The BLT had crispy bacon as ordered and a lot of it, plus the usual tomato and lettuce. The only thing lacking was a side pickle, but I will ask for one next time and make the suggestion. Another order was a ham and American cheese omelet for breakfast. The ham was in chunks! I kid you not. Flavorful and good...but IMO it overtook the cheese part of the omelet. It needs another slice of cheese to make the omelet perfect. Hashbrowns were crisp, hot, and good. Toast is toast. Lastly, I tried a chef salad. It was huge and heavy! Totally large enough for two meals! Big full strips of ham and turkey - I cut them in half to save for a second meal. Tons of cheese, lettuce and tomato, and the hard boiled egg was perfect, as in no green to be seen! Dressing on the side, and I added croutons at home. This is exactly how I like my salad! The menu itself is large and varied - pretty much anything you want is on there. (Looking at YOU, meat loaf...) There is also a display case with desserts that looks very tempting... I will have to check that out next time. I think the prices are fair. The restaurant is clean and cozy; the service is really good, friendly, and fast. The location is great too - I-75 and Sibley Rd, just off the exit past Racho Rd., so if you are a traveler its an easy place to stop in to eat, then jump right back on the freeway. I'm giving this place 5 stars. The effort is there. I think you will love this place!
