I often order their BLT's with a salad for lunch. they are always fresh and come with a side of dill pickle slices. I've also had breakfast there which is delish also. They have a large seating area but they are only open till 3. Service is always great. Ladies are always smiling when I am in there and they are ALWAYS poppin' with customers in the mornings. This a updated review I first wrote 6 years ago. Still same Wonderful food and service. Place screams 1980 so unique so damn clean. How cool they add Chicken n Waffles a favorite weekend brunch dish spot on. Only on Saturday a popular Soup be Chicken n Dumplings Wow I say. Had a proper Greek Omelette not found at many places. Eggs, Gyro, Feta, Tomato n Onions Saute together OMG a must try they plate up Breakfast all day. She got a marvelous Chicken Greek Salad and the Sparta Burger which was 2 1/3 patties she added another for a Full Pound of Love what a great Burger. Very typical family restaurant/coney island menu. The service, cleanliness and quality of the food is however, not typical - it is far above average for this type of restaurant. I went for lunch a few days after they opened. Being in restaurant operations for the past 13 years myself, I was impressed at how well the front-of-the-house worked together. They also had great attitudes and acted as true "brand ambassadors" by speaking highly about the food and the ownership. By the way, try one of the grinders. Great Job! Update!! I need a good breakfast late Saturday morning after an early Christmas Shop. I remember a friend saying he thought Sparta might be affiliated with the "Farmers Cafe" out in Carlton. I love that place so I thought I'd try Sparta. It did not disappoint!! I ordered the "Sparta Skillet". That's hash browns on the bottom of the skillet then bits of ham, bacon, sausage links cut into small chunks, then shredded Cheese then topped with sausage gravy then Three eggs. It sounds like a lot because it is. It was delicious. I had toast and coffee too. Everything was perfect. The staff was friendly and attentive. My coffee cup was never empty neither was my water glass. The bill was about $11 + tip. Which seems high but there was a lot of food. The only negative was my own fault. I sat at the counter near the door and every time it opened there was a cold chill. But like I saw I'd that was my fault I chose my seat. Great breakfast I'll definitely go again. read more

Average Food My visit was on a Monday morning around 8:00. The place was almost empty. A waitress told me to sit wherever I desired. There were two waitresses on hand. Staff was very attentive and all neat in appearance. It had been since the spring that I had been here last. The menu had a decent choice of items. I picked the #1 Mini Breakfast Special. This included: Two eggs, Choice of meat ( I chose Ham), Grits and toast. Coffee as usual is extra. Wait time between ordering delivery was minimal. Staff paid attention and refilled my coffee twice and inquired about my meal as well. My plate appeared full due to the nice arrangement of the items. The eggs came cooked as ordered though almost over well. Whites thoroughly cooked, yolks barely releasing any yellow/orange goodness. Grits were thick but not lumpy. My two pieces of ham were heated through and lightly browned from the grill. Fat had been trimmed away. The wheat toast was nicely buttered and had some remaining butter on the tops of each slice. Coffee was average. Atmosphere Sparta Family Dining is located on West Road near the corner of Hall Road. There are an adequate number of tables and booths. Very plain inside with the absent tvs usually found in most places. I found the quietness nice. Noise Level Very quiet due to amount of customers present (7 at time of visit). Have not been here since Sparta Opened and I will for sure be returning!! First of all , they have Wigley's Corn Beef! The Reuben my Mom and I had was a generous portion and the meat was cook to perfection ! The soup my Mom had was homemade and delicious -- So delicious we got 2 bowls of it to go - O and I forgot we got A Reuben Sandwich for my 12 yr old son who Also loves Wigley's!! This was my second meal recently that I noticed has not been as good like there food use to be. I had not been there in a while, so not sure if new owners? Pancakes in past were delicious! This past visit were not. They use to use a malt pancake mix. It didn't taste like same batter. So I love chicken lemon rice soup from any coney island. Great place! Needed a quick place to eat after a funeral. This place is clean, the staff is extremely friendly and the food is great. It was hot, well cooked and the potions are above normal. The prices are very good. A definite return trip planned when we are back on that side of town. read more
