I love this little diner! Service is consistently good, super friendly staff, and the food is just what you'd expect from a diner. The lobster bisque is SO thick (almost like a chowder) and has plenty of lobster bits each in bite. I also had a "crabby patty" - a crab cake sandwich. The patty was a little bit mushier than I prefer, but the flavor was spot on! It also came with two different sauces - one was an avocado-mayo style spread and the other was a spicy mayo. It was also served with fries which were perfectly cooked. Friends I was with also enjoyed their meals! The open faced turkey sandwich and chicken and dumplings. We had a giant piece of ho-ho cake, too! Their desserts are top notch! read more

This is the second time I've been to this restaurant and again I enjoyed my food and visit. Four of us ate here and were all happy with our food and desserts!! The meal began with their bread which is scrumptious. I ordered the half chicken with dumplings and mashed potatoes. It was all yummy! I would have preferred a breast of chicken but bone-in did the trick too. Everything was good! The four of us tried three desserts - carrot cake, bread pudding, and chocolate cake. Of those, the bread pudding was my favorite. Our service was fast and efficient and the place was neat and clean. I'd eat here again if in the area. read more

After more than 10 years, I finally gave it another try today--and it did not disappoint. The grits were delicious, though I wished the portion was a bit larger. The eggs and (real)crab were also great. The service was pleasant when I called, and since I had been there before, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. read more

Staff was friendly and the food was delivered quickly. I had the vegetarian breakfast burrito for the first time and it was amazing! The only problem I have is they charged $3 for a bottle of pop which I think is a bit extreme. Even at the convenience stores they don't charge as much. Otherwise I can truly recommend this place. No photos of food but everything we had was great old fashioned delicious diner food! The Rueben sandwich was a hit with its buttery toast and wet corned beef. The Michigan cherry salad had so many walnuts and cherries topped with blue cheese and chicken! But the best part of our dining experience was Jessica! Our server who was by far the most amazing server I have ever had. We walked in as a group of families, probably about 30 of us total. We got seated right away, and she went to work first on drinks then food. Not one single thing came out wrong! Everyone's family food came out together, and there wasn't much time at all in between each round of food coming out. I have wanted to try it here for a while now. Decided to pull the trigger because I felt like lobster bisque and carrot cake. Showed the menu to the hubs, and he was willing to drive through the sticks to get here. It's kind of in an odd area. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. The inside is very kitschy. Not terribly my style. I'm not all about atmosphere, though, so I don't really care. I get its their schtick. The people here are terrific. Friendly, efficient, and informative. The lady running the front of house is on the ball. Our server did a fantastic job too. We were seated right away and had drinks and freebie rolls in a flash. We arrived at 4ish on a Saturday. Be advised that when we left, there was a wait for tables. The rolls are super dense with a garlic taste. They are ok for freebie rolls, I guess. My husband wanted cheese curds, and they came with honey mustard, but they added his fave ranch for us with no problem. They were fantastic in either sauce. Crispy, not a bit greasy. Nicely sized, plenty to share. I ordered a house salad as one of my sides. You can get it tv style with blue cheese, bacon, and breadcrumbs. I highly recommend that you do just that. Super fresh mixed greens, cucumbers, and grape tomatoes are good on their own, but tv style takes it to gourmet level. It went so nicely with the punchy garlic balsamic dressing. I could eat this salad every day. I'm really very impressed. We both got soups as sides. James went with the soup of the day, chicken pot pie. It had a crumbled pastry topping and tasted just like it's namesake dish. Fantastic! I, of course, opted for lobster bisque. It's why we came in. Super duper buttery and creamy with a true lobster seafoody essence. It was so satisfying. We both decided on the sirloin oscar style for our main dish. I got mine medium rare, and he got his medium. Both were cooked to order. The crab is indeed real, and the hollandaise is terrificly rich and tasty. The steaks were equally so very tender to boot. An excellent dish. My husband's side of mac and cheese was fine. It's just kind of blah compared with everything else. It's the only thing we ate I would not order again. It was not bad at all. it's just not even close to the best thing on the menu imo. We, of course, got to go for my parents. My dad adored his black and blue ribeye with mashed potatoes but was meh on his small container of coleslaw. My mom declared her angel hair aglio olio with shrimp the best she had ever eaten and was in love with her paprikashed spaetzle side. Everything was packed up super securely, which they especially appreciated. My only other glitch here was we got cake to go. I got carrot cake, and my husband got the 4 layer double chocolate. My piece was half the thickness of his. It was just disappointing because it was not cheap, and I had been super excited about it. My husband felt bad because he had specifically gotten dessert because I was so jazzed, and now he felt like I got cheated. So if you get dessert, maybe don't get it to go. Delicious homemade food and daily specials. Tried the City Chicken dinner special today. It was a delicious meal served with two skewers of city chicken, dumplings, gravy and cinnamon apples. My wife ordered the Turkey Ruben sandwich which also was very delicious. We received prompt and friendly service from our waitress. The restaurant interior was comfortable and reminiscent of a family diner. We definitely recommend TV Diner for a satisfying meal experience. read more

This was an unplanned breakfast adventure but mannnn was it a good one. We stopped in with a pretty large group (7 people) and they accommodated us without batting an eye. The food highlight reel: -Brûléed grapefruit! So tasty. -Crème brûlée waffle, a house specialty for good reason! I mean if you have the torch, might as well brûlée until your heart's content! Of course this was on the sweet side, but the custard flavor and consistency was really nice, bonus: we were able to add fresh fruit, that kicked it up to a 10. -Veggie breakfast burrito, it was heavy on the guac and that made it even better. They have all the diner staples, and a full lunch menu as well. This was definitely a fun treat, we'll be back to try more! read more

Really could be better. We live within walking distance and usually don't go there. For a place like that you figure the burgers would be awesome and not factory produced dry tasteless lunch room style patty that's for sure not 1/2lbs. It's ok to use Sysco distributors for things but not everything. The kitchen looks like a pit with cooks in knits caps (probably because the make up air is broken). The grease stained cook area isn't a great look, neither are the filthy ceiling air grills and adjacent filth on the wall. Recently visited the diner haven't been there in some time. I'm glad we went the food was delicious. I ordered fish tacos they were excellent tasty and plentiful. Just tried their Brisket dinner. Best Brisket I have had in years. It was moist and flavorful. The tomato based gravy was ridiculously yummy. Most bbq places have Brisket and it is dry and tough. I am do blown away by this dish. read more

While we do not live near here, my husband was in town, so we decided to give this place a try. We were very excited to get carried out due to the great reviews, pictures, and menu. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed. While the modtaccoli looked good, it only tasted okay. Which is more than we can say for the Swedish meatballs. They looked awful. Worse than something you would pick up pre-made from a school cafeteria. And neither of the people eating it liked it. I had a side salad with my meal and while it was good, it was shockingly small. There were more toppings than lettuce which was disappointing. The other sides we had were Mac and cheese (tasted like frozen Stoffers Mac and cheese) and lobster bisque (which I believe my husband did like). We were all baffled by the great reviews. Great spot for home cooked meals! One of my favorite breakfast spots downriver is TV's Deli & Diner in Trenton, MI! I ordered the Santa Fe Scramble with spinach, tomato, mushroom, jalapeño cream cheese, and red skinned home fries. You can get cheesy grits, those are good, too, but I always opt for the home fries. Tip: Add cream cheese to your scrambled eggs! Everything at TV's is scratch made, fresh, and just really good food. Went with friends whose mother lives in Southgate before going to see Stanley Clarke at Trenton Riverside Park Saturday night. Nice food selection, retro 50s 60s ambiance and our waitress was celebrating her 49th birthday and other than forgetting to sing Happy Birthday to her it was a wonderful time I had angel hair pasta with shrimp and a Caesar salad and the green bean appetizer and cauliflower appetizer we shared I can highly recommend the cauliflower appetizer and the main courses that everyone had my pasta and fish for others. read more
