When ever I'm back in the Downriver area I must have a Coney dog for nostalgia purposes. I found this place via Yelp's map on the way back home from Southland mall. Heritage Coney has good food and great service at bargain prices. It's the kind of place where they never leave your coffee cup empty. We had the Coney special, and some hash browns. There was one waitress covering the whole small place yet everything was delivered very fast. The menu is a lot bigger than I expected. There are some healthy options like Greek salads too. As the previous reviewer says, the coffee really is good here.I really miss "Heritage Perk" (now closed) but maybe this can be my new coffee shop for those trips home to Taylor.

This rock 'n roll themed diner is a downriver favorite for breakfast. The food is consistently…read moregood, even if the same order isn't always exactly the same. For example, I get the "Hearty" breakfast most of the time and it comes with eggs, meat, pancakes, potatoes and toast, and it really highlights what is this place's strength. Eggs: I get mine scrambled and have a nice selection of hot sauce to choose from. Meat: I appreciate that they offer turkey sausage since I don't eat beef or pork, but my wife loves their bacon if that's your thing. Pancakes: quality varies the most here as they are sometimes a little pale (but still good) but more often the idyllic golden one expects when ordering. Potatoes: lots of variety here, too, as my home fries come in different sized cuts with seasoning ranging from none to "no need for salt or pepper?" Toast: Again, wide variety of choices, I go with sourdough most often If this sounds like a lot of food, there are lots of other options that make it appealing to smaller appetites. But what I like about the "Hearty" is all the choices and the variation in style (probably depends on who's staffing the griddle) allows me to order the same meal and still feel like I'm getting some variety. Having said that, keep an eye out for the specials. They sometimes are tempting enough to get me to stray from usual. In addition to good food, the service is always friendly, and we've been back enough times to where I think every server recognizes us. Like I said, it's a favorite.

There were 2 tables that were a little louder than usual, but even when they left, it was still too noisy. Appears to be no sound deadening in the ceiling. This makes us reluctant to dine here again. When you can't hear the person sitting 2-3' away from you, at the same table, it is NOT a good thing.

This place is great with reasonable prices. It's a true mom and pop diner. I miss places like this…read morein Hawaii. It's my second time dining here. We ordered the mini breakfast with one egg, two slices of bacon and hash browns $4.95. We also got the corned beef hash with two eggs, toast & jelly $8.50. For the side orders we got a bowl of grits $3.50 and three piece pancakes $6.95. We washed it down with a coffee $3.50 and orange juice $3.95. Everything was good. Honestly, it's kind of hard to mess up breakfast items. The pancakes were huge and fluffy. It was my third time having grits and it's still meh to me. It's kind of like oatmeal, but more grainy. My hubby added butter and sugar to it. They also sell sandwiches, burgers, salads and a whole bunch of dinner entrees.

It was no hello, hi, how are you... just takeout or dining in and when I mentioned dining in, she wasn't too thrilled. So we chose our booth and sat down. The waitress attitude at the beginning was not welcoming at all. To the point where my nephew that is 6yrs old asked, whats wrong with her. We placed our order and when the food arrived, all of us where excited. The food looked and tasted great. Hats off to the chef. We had a table full of pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, and drinks. By time we were ready to go, the waitress seemed in a better mood. Maybe she was having a rough start to her day. I commented on her earrings to make her smile. Although the experience wasn't the best initially, we all have "off" days and i wont hold it against them. The food is delicious and I will be back.

The staff members were very friendly and attentive to whatever we needed. After being served beverages, we were invited to partake of soup from their self-serve "soup bar," which included chicken noodle, cream of broccoli, cabbage, and lemon rice. I selected the cream of broccoli and can tell you that it was amazingly delicious. The flavoring was perfect and it was appropriately thick with lots of broccoli (of course) and delicate bits of carrots. A buffet was set up in our private room. There were salad makings available, with a large bowl of lettuce and separate bowls of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. I passed on salad because I hadn't eaten breakfast and felt I needed to save myself for the entree portion of the buffet. I had chicken breast with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Salisbury steak was also an option. I was very happy with my food selections and the food was very hot. If this restaurant was anywhere near where I live, I can imagine being a frequent customer. It was the perfect choice, however, for the occasion as it was very close to the church and provided a comfortable venue for family members to offer condolences, share happy memories and enjoy a delicious meal. While I love to share photos, I didn't want to be inappropriate or obnoxious given the circumstances. Finally, I must say that there were many delectable desserts that I refrained from trying because I spent too much time in my car and was trying to limit my calories. If you find yourself in the Taylor, MI area, definitely check out Leon's Family Restaurant!!
