I wish that I could have given SPCA a 10 Star rating. I mean literally wow. We had an incident where our dog was viciously attacked by another dog in the neighborhood. Before we got to SPCA, I drove around to 4 different facilities, all of which denied him service. I had a huge down payment that I offered as well as a credit card to put on file.... Still they didn't help. On a last ditch effort as I was watching my dog fade away, I rushed to SPCA where they treated Chevy like a king. The surgeon Ingrid is an absolute rockstar and as good as they get. The surgical staff rushed to my car and helped get him inside their facility before they underwent a multi-hour surgery consisting of 100+ sutures and a Penrose drain. They did all of this for less than the payment of euthanizing him at a different facility (which was the first things that Veterinary Healthcare Associates, of Winter Haven started with offering.) It's been three days and my boy is starting to look like himself more and more each day. Words can't express to you the level of gratitude that I have. You saved a family member of ours when everyone else said no. I wish thank you was enough.

Looking for love? Then you've come to the right place! I am so excited that Doggie Dates are a thing! SPCA Florida really hooked it up with a printed list of places to go and a whole goodie bag filled with a Frisbee, towels, pick-up bags, treats, and a water bowl. All sorts of things that I would have forgotten to bring with me. I'm from an hour away so I didn't really know where to bring the pup for the date. They thought of everything! Plus, what a cheap date! For only $10, I got snuggles and a walking buddy for a few hours. I didn't have to swipe left or worry about being ghosted. The only downside was that my date drooled :) Otherwise, best date ever! At first, we drove around and she did so great in the car. She let me hook her up to my doggie seatbelt with no issue. She was really good at hanging her head out the window but also really just liked to sit and chill. Definitely could tell she was excited and eager to get to wherever we were going. We stopped off at a shopping center but she decided she didn't want to get her nails done or buy any makeup. So we got a fancy Puppichino and went to a nearby park to enjoy the summer shade. Reese's did great on the leash but was too excited to enjoy any of the treats provided. She enjoyed gulping lots of water and let herself relax in the shade. She loved cheering for the softball games and seemed thrilled with all the excitement. If you're looking for an adorable companion, then definitely check out this sweetheart! https://www.spcaflorida.org/adopt-a-dog

What can we say? Let's begin at the end... My 12 yr old ShiTzu Hampshire has just undergone 2 types of surgery & a 3rd follow-up treatment at UF Small Animal Hospital in Gainesville--$7,000. Why? (1) removal of fluid filled gallbladder; (2) high liver enzyme level (3) fluid filled abdomen; (4) cystic testicles; (5) UT infection; (6) treatment for pneumonia (7) dehydration Beginning: Our vet was booked & an associate recommended we try the SPCA in Lakeland. We called around & everyone was booked. We were delighted to get an appt that week & we went there with hopeful expectations based on her recommendation. We booked an appointment & drove fm Windermere to Lakeland. Appt: I took our pet pal in because hubby noticed tile spotting blood specs in his semen. Treatment SPCA: Prior to the visit, we specifically requested to be scheduled for an x-ray, ultra sound, prostate check, urine analysis, blood panel, & sperm analysis. They said yes we do all that & we have the equipment. Follow-up Call: We rec'vd an x-ray that's it, but we rec'vd a bill for much more. Initial Tech: We arrived & waited our turn. Unfortunately, we requested another tech because the 1st tech rolled her eyes & threw her head upon seeing our pets attired in polos. It was chilly out. They are 12 & 13 yr old senior pets. She was an obnoxious mature white female tech who kept spitting orders at us as though she was paying us: Orders: Move your car up, hurry up, walk faster, don't let your dog wander, put on that leash faster, pick up that dog. What's with the wheelchair? I said, Sorry, but I just had foot surgery. She walked away & came back to scoff at us more venomously. So, we very quietly & discreetly requested a new warm & fuzzy tech. Vet: The visiting black female vet gave us very passive aggressive feedback post exam. It was clear she was displeased as she clinched her teeth the entire time. She appeared to be very young & extremely inexperienced with exceeding poor people skills. I also did not feel comfortable with her technical expertise & craft of knowledge. Her degree isn't worth the paper it's printed on! If we did our job like she did, I wd hope they'd retract our Ph.Ds. Passive aggressive envy has never been & will never be synonymous with professionalism, ability, & authentic training, & skill! Trust your instincts. I thought of voting with my feet upon encounter the poorly trained & unkind tech, but I put my assessing observations aside for the sake of our pet pal's health. You see, our reg vet was booked 3-weeks out & our instincts were that he needed to be evaluated. Our bill was approximately $600 & we rec'vd no professional medical expertise for our money. Our pet almost died because of their lax care. Cleanliness: However, we did rec'v a respiratory infection that almost killed our pet pal. He sneezed for several days after the visit. And you know the end results. As you al know, emerg always cost & arm & a leg vs. scheduled events! $1700 reg vet emerg care Countryside Animal Clinic Deland & $6726.50 UF emerg surg & $200 UF post surg followup

We just adopted a new kitty here who we love! The cat room is very nice and they are all very sweet! All the employees here are very nice and helpful except for one old lady who will constantly hover over you like you are there to do something bad. She is my only complaint. Both times we have visited to look she hovers over you and lectures on how to take care of a cat and almost sounded like she wasn't going to let us take our kitten home because we already have one. She told us he would pee all over our house ?? Never heard of that extreme happening but its only been a day and they are getting along so well its adorable. Overall would recommend as the cats are well taken care of and staff is nice for most part

I reviewed earlier and the hospital director reached out to me, and made sure my babys were taken care of. They took good care of them.

We called telling the staff we were running late and could they please wait a few minutes for us to get there. The answer was "we can't stay after 6pm for safety reasons" and that we would have to leave Emma overnight, which is what ultimately happened. Then when we picked her up in the morning, they had the balls to charge for boarding, even though I still have prepaid daycare that hasn't been used up. They have my money for that, but gave me a bulls--t story that it's a different service, so I couldn't use it as payment for the boarding. This place is totally about their own convenience and the cash flow, not how a person cares about a "Family member" They also said there is NO ONE in the building after 8:00 pm. Suppose there was a fire or other emergency, the animals wouldn't stand a chance. I am definitely going elsewhere for vet veterinary services and have had them send all of my records to me. It's a shame, because I really like the doctors here, but the manager and her attitude is beyond words.

Super disappointed with a recent boarding at My Pets. My Pets Animal Hospital has been our vet for…read moreyears. I've boarded the family Goldendoodle (Max - http://tiktok.com/@mackymaxdoodle) many times without any issue. I recently had to leave town for a family funeral for the weekend. I dropped off Max Friday. I should have known things have gone downhill at My Pets when they had lost his reservation and the pre-paperwork I had completed prior to his arrival. Max apparently did well on Friday however on Saturday evening during a family funeral gathering, I received a long text explaining Max had growled while the handler (Sasha) went to let him out. Without discussion, the handler texted to inform me they had decided to sedate Max. He had already stayed the night prior with no issues. They also informed me of the medication cost and additional expense to administer the medication. They promptly sent a video in which they took a second effort to enter the cold prison like room, walk to his cell, and without being friendly to him and calling his name, they clanked the door latches and yes, he made a purring/growling noise. He appeared very nervous and scared. I asked for Dr Donna to call me as I didn't want him sedated and didn't understand why experts were unable to handle a family dog as they have many times before. I let them know to open the cage and invite him out and he'd be fine. I didn't get a call from Donna. Instead, I received a long text from Donna explaining that she had told the handler to sedate him and that was their policy. I told her I didn't want him sedated and that I would leave the out-of-town family gathering and come get him ASAP. Donna informed me I should get Max behavioral training (super well-trained family dog) and that she would call me to discuss the issue the following week. It would seem that it's My Pets staff that needs the training. They are supposed to know how to handle dogs while boarding. She also informed me that Max had disrupted hers and her staff's weekend. As it got close to pick Max up, I texted and asked how they would get him out of the cage as I didn't want him sedated. I received no reply. The same handler got him out of the cage and brought him to me (somehow without sedating him). Everyone at the front desk was "unsure" if Max was sedated including Sasha. It seemed there was a lack of transparency and trust as in his returned items was a bottle of pills with 4 pills unaccounted for. I informed them that he is a family member and didn't deserve to be drugged because he had a handler unwilling to be friendly to him and quite frankly was probably scared. I will never return Max to My Pets. He deserves to be treated with care and the handler failed to do so by intimidating him while he was in a vulnerable state. When Max first went to My Pets, they would greet him by name and even bring him a Licky mat with cheese whiz. This isn't even close to how he was treated during this boarding stay. Also, Dr. Donna didn't follow up and call to discuss like both her and her staff said would happen. Very disappointed and do not recommend boarding for your fury family member.
