All the reviews on this organization are extremely outdated so i thought i would post an up to date review with a completely honest opinion. SPCA Suncoast is the best shelter i've ever been to, the staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. There is not a single animal in there that isn't treated with respect and love. Of course this is a shelter, not a factory, these animals have stories and they're not perfect. Please be educated on the animal you're adopting before taking him or her home. I rescued my family dog from here a couple years ago and he's honestly the biggest blessing we could've asked for and i truly believe it's mostly because of the way he was treated in the shelter and the kindness he was shown by humans. Thank you SPCA Suncoast and continue doing what you're doing.

Horrible people. No one there cares. They run out of supplies. They're not open to do the right thing and worst of all the animals suffer.

She was believed to have been hit by a car when she was 2lb. She had a fractured pelvis and a broken back leg. She was supposedly brought in by a good samaritan right after she was hit. She was still under veterinary care from PCAS when I fostered her from Runaways since Runaways did not have a licensed vet on staff. I was given the X-rays that PCAS took of her injuries right after she was brought to the shelter from Runaways when I adopted her. I recently took her to my vet that has 30+ years of experience and runs multiple animal clinics. I have known him for many years and he is the best in Florida. His team is highly skilled and experienced. I made an appointment for them to take new X-rays to see how she has healed. Before they got started, they took a look at my cat's X-rays from when she was a baby and was just brought to PCAS and their jaws dropped. They just stared at them shocked and then looked over at me in disbelief. They have seen it all so I was surprised by their response. They explained very thoroughly what they were seeing in great detail. She should have had surgery immediately on her pelvis and her leg when she was brought to Pasco County Animal Services. The injury was not fresh and calcification was already setting in. She must have been in unimaginable pain for a while before she was brought in. Which is absolutely horrific to think about. Someone brings this kitten in that is terrified, injured, and alone and PCAS didn't even do the bare minimum to help her. They just pumped her with drugs and put her in a cage. Which is exactly what Runaways Animal Rescue did before I fostered her. She was isolated in medical units in both places. No socialization and completely alone. Runways did not do their due diligence by getting a second opinion when they assumed responsibility by pulling her. Due to PCAS not doing ANYTHING to help her, and Runaways not getting a second opinion, her body is permanently damaged for life and will have major issues as she ages. Her pelvis is completely tilted inwards which will eventually make defecating difficult and her legs are different lengths. She can't lay either of her back legs flat and she walks with an odd gait. I asked PCAS about her legs not laying flat when I was her foster. They didn't care and actually contacted Runaways and complained that I reached out to them with concerns. I was then scolded by Runaways for trying to get medical advice from her actual vet. PCAS was the vet that saw her and she was under their care (unfortunately) so they should be the ones answering my questions and helping this poor cat, not some random foster coordinator (Monica) who actually took my kitten off her meds early and kept them for themselves because Monica decided she didn't need them anymore. The foster coordinator had zero medical training and they didn't have a vet on staff. They did nothing to help her, just like PCAS. My cat is needlessly in pain now and is going to suffer as she ages and was extremely traumatized by PCAS and this rescue. She had zero socialization or handling in a positive way and it took me a very long time to work with my cat to get her to even feel safe or comfortable. She struggles every day because of what she went through. It is very clear by her behavior that she has PTSD and likely will for many years to come, if not for the rest of her life. Animals deserve so much better than this and Pasco County Animal Services and their partner Runaways Animal Rescue are 100% responsible for the permanent damage my cat will experience for the rest of her life. I have had other concerning and weird experiences with this rescue and refrained from making a review. But after what I just learned, there is no way I am not speaking up for my cat. She deserved so much better and I will do everything in my power to make her as comfortable as I can for the time I have with her. I will not be reading a reply from the owner.
