We even had the opportunity to take part in a research study through Drexel Autism institute during his time there. Many of the therapists I consider like family! After two years, We then transitioned to the school district. The staff was very helpful in making sure we had everything set up in his IEP that was needed for him to succeed. Today, he is doing wonderfully in 2nd grade. We got an incredible start with Interactive Kids.

My son on the other hand he may not feel the same way lol since he was the one being treated. But he was smiling and just felt right in place before the procedure. We were hopeful to be able to resolve it, but also a little nervous about the procedure. Dr. Bickel went above and beyond in making us feel comfortable, explaining everything, answering our questions, and just being a truly personable and approachable practitioner. That goes a long way, especially when it comes to people working with our child! We plan to return for the procedure, and were delighted to see all of the positive reviews here. It was 2020 and everything was virtual yet somehow she found a way to engage my rowdy toddler on a computer screen and begin working on his speech. Ellen has the most amazing way of keeping him interested in each session, motivated to master each new skill and ready to practice when he got home so that his speech improved. The communication offered with the family by this practice is invaluable. Not only did my son overcome so many of the hurdles presented by Apraxia, we all learned as a family how to support him every step of the way. Ellen answered all of my endless questions, helped us navigate payment and insurance speed bumps and was always great about communicating quickly. After 5 years of services, everyone who knows my son is shocked to find out about his speech journey because he speaks so well (and so often). As a speech therapist myself, I am very particular when it comes to finding the right service provider. Before finding Ellen, I had taken my son to a few other practices. I was left disappointed and frustrated. It is difficult to find a provider who is both extremely knowledgeable in their field AND as welcoming and warm as Ellen. She creates a treatment plan, explains it clearly, and implements it with fidelity. Ellen also encourages family to sit in on sessions which is greatly appreciated. I found other practices discouraged observations and preferred you to be in the waiting room. Not Ellen. She is confident in her skill set, and most importantly, wants correct carryover at home. Ellen also puts a lot of care, effort, and financial resources into the selection of books, toys, apps, and materials she uses to complement therapy. Her office is so engaging and fun for children. Once we reached out we were quickly paired with a therapist whose skills and interests best matched our child's needs. We immediately scheduled a consultation which took place in our home and began weekly sessions (also in home). Having a therapist provide services in a setting most comfortable and natural for our child has made this experience most beneficial for our daughter. She didn't have to take time to acquaint and adjust to a new setting and instead was able to immediately focus on learning and bonding with our therapist. Our therapist is skillful and passionate. She takes care to listen, validate and address our concerns. She provides productive feedback and truly a large part of our experience (and child's success) has been parent education. Our sensitivity and concern is handled with tact and care; helping us gain confidence and hope for our child and her future. I cannot recommend Delco Speech Center enough and thank them immensely.
