I can't give this place enough stars. First let me tell you about Alex, the bartender. Alex made the best spicy margarita I have ever had. That means alot coming from someone who is super picky about lime juice and spice! This absolute gem is a treasure that we accidentally found, looking for a good cocktail. I never thought we would find a place with Russian food that was this laid back and cool. The food was phenomenal, especially the beef rib. I'm coming back and trying everything. Thank you for taking me back home. I felt like I was in my Babushka's kitchen! Can't wait to come back.

We went to check out a speakeasy bar after our appointment, this bar is next to a barber shop. Free parking right on the front, we arrived in the evening so the barber shop was already closed. However the doors were unlocked. You'll see a huge piano when you enter, push that backwards and the door will open to the speakeasy. The bar is small yet cozy, reservations recommended. They offer food and drinks, we were still full from dinner, so we just ordered drinks.

I've been wanting to check out Yana's for some time and finally had the chance this evening... What a fun and unique experience! Ring the bell to get in! I was escorted to the bar where Yana herself gave me a full history lesson on vodka and how to correctly enjoy shots! Exhale, drink, smell the food, taste it... And then inhale. My shot was accompanied by a slice of whole grain bread slathered in horseradish . From there, I moved on to the BBQ beef rib entrée and a beautiful slice of cake for dessert...witb more vodka! Definitely a place to check out!

A great atmosphere, excellent drinks and cocktails, and delicious food - that's all you need to spend an evening with friends in a good bar. Superb service and a well-designed interior.

Love this place! Great vibe! Great atmosphere and music! great bartender and overall needed in the north shore!

If you're looking for somewhere to go to have delicious food and excellent cocktails, this is it. In addition, it's such a fun and exotic concept: a speakeasy, hidden behind a door you don't notice from the street. But once inside, it's luxurious, friendly, and delicious. Highly recommended, for any time of for a special occasion.

Our new go to date night spot. The atmosphere is very enjoyable and the drinks were amazing. I got the floating bridge and it has the right mixture of flavor and was so smooth. All the servers were attentive and friendly. My only suggestion down the road is maybe a jazz player or live gentle music but that would only add more to the already perfect experience.

Seriously. These guys take pride in their craft. Amazing cocktails. Great bar with a killer bar menu. Haven't tried food but it's just a 5 items or so and some caviar I'm about to try.

Great little secret place! Drinks were very well done, menu has a good selection and looks very appetizing. We stopped in for after dinner drinks and the vibe was really cool. Service was attentive, they brought us some snacks on the house, prices are very reasonable. Owner and her staff were very personable, they were kind and so appreciative and thanked us for coming. Perfect addition to this adorable little corner of Ravinia area!

What a joyous speakeasy to adorn the North Shore. Locally beloved business owner, Yana, has created this charming and beautiful new speakeasy for the North Shore that is an absolute delight to visit and enjoy spirits, cocktails, and wines. The decor is a perfect execution of a warm and laid back speakeasy with eclectic couches and bar stools to sip with friends. Yana also makes her own unique small plates with a global twist to savor (food options change often depending on what Yana wants to showcase so always exciting) alongside your libations. We loved the meatball skewers, chicken stroganoff with naan bites, Russian Cole slaw, and the lamb samsa. The mixologist, Alex, whipped up some absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared cocktails for us - Negroni and a house specialty herbaceous cocktail. The wine list is very tasteful too. Mike is amazingly warm and charming, and really makes you feel loved and welcome. Great experience to bring in the new year! Can't wait to enjoy many relaxed evening here.

I like the complementary garlic bread. We got the chip to share and it's so good! So crispy and thin! The aioli is really good too. I got the branzino as my entree. I asked for whole. It was perfectly cooked. The parmesan crust was perfect and it was well seasoned too. I was told it's like 90% deboned. I wasn't too worried about seeing bones considering I asked for it whole. It was accompanied by garlic noodles and broccolini. I think the addition of the pasta was perfect. Most of the time the fish by itself with a vegetable doesn't really fill you up. As for dessert, we also got a few to share. I can't remember the names of all of them, but I think the cheesecake is banana foster? It was pretty good. The cake was like a lemon mousse? We liked that one too. I don't remember the name of the ice cream, but it was my first time trying it. It was interesting mix of flavors, it's not my favorite. We all want to go back to try other menu items, considering how close it is to work too!

We had plenty of room and it was nice to have delicious beer, good food, and a pleasant view of this part of Highland Park. I've been here before when it had a different name, but it seems like little has changed. This is a well warn bar! Comfy seats at the bar and a smattering of booths and table with a homey feel - lots of wood and available light from the large front window. This is not a huge room by any means but it never felt crowded. Our group had mostly apps like guac and chips and a quesadilla or two. I tried a Kolsch lager and a Marzen lager both if which were a little cheaper than usual due to the Happy Hour Special of $5 a beer. Margaritas are $6 at Happy Hour. The beer was very good! We had a great waiter and being seated just a few feet from the bar meant no one went thirsty or hungry for long. On past visits I was seated on the back patio but we had rain on this most recent visit, and it's also March! (Patio season does not start in the Chicago area for at least another month or month and a half!) The patio is a nice little wood fenced in area with lots of tables and a back tap bar. Not sure if that set-up is still the same.... This is a great local bar with a lot of rustic, homey charm. I'd definitely recommend if you want good local beer in a friendly old-school bar.

Overall we enjoyed our experience. The food was phenomenal…read more We came here after spending the day at the Chicago Botanical Gardens and it was a perfect treat. We were all starving after walking around. And the outdoor seating is perfect for kids. The food was LEGIT. I personally love Italian - pizza, pasta, salads. And all so fresh. We started with baked artichoke and the shredded brussle sprout salad. The baked artichoke was damn delicious and we al joked we could eat a few more plates of them. The brussle sprout salad I'd skip next time. It was shredded enough and the brussle sprouts needed to sit in the lemon juice a little longer to loosen up. It was too hard to eat and because some of the pieces weren't shredded enough you couldn't bite into it. The kids both got rigatoni in a red sauce and finished their entire plates. The only thing I wish is that they had a kids menu because if they want a drink to it comes out to $16 a kid ($12 for pasta and $4 for drink). And the kids soda is just as much as the adults soda. But the pasta itself was freshly made and the red sauce was so good I could drink it. And prolly the most frustrating part of the meal was asking if they had bread to be told that they don't except we watched baskets of bread be brought to our tables. When we asked our waiter Jeffrey if they had bread he said no twice and told us they have focaccia. The kids obviously didn't like it. After being lied to we decided to ask someone else who then brought us the free bread ??? So don't get tricked to order focaccia because they do have bread. This was really frustrating to be straight lied to and the focaccia in my mind wasn't worth $12. It needed more oil while being baked because it was dry. But in all my dining experiences I've never been lied to about getting a basket of bread just to get us to buy focaccia. It was so weird. I ordered the tortellini with balsamic and I enjoyed the tortellini themselves but the sauce lacked flavor. It almost needed a mushroom base or something that had more a punch. My husband got the bolognese and really enjoyed it and he is the last person to order pasta out. My best friend got the eggplant lasagne and damn it was good. I forget what her husband got. Then we also ordered pizza for the table and shit it was so good. Next time I'd try the mushroom pizza. We sat outside and the ambiance out there is much more livelier than inside especially if you're traveling with kiddos. They also had a magician who came to our table and really made the night enjoyable for the kids. We plan to head back at some time and have learned our bread lesson lol. Next time we would just ask for another waiter because being lied to is just odd.
