I found Special Event Beauty on the website Wedding Wire. I trusted Wedding Wire with a lot of my vendors for my wedding. I had been in communication with a few different make up and hair artists and I knew I wanted air brush make up specifically. I was really happy with the conversations I had back-and-forth with Jacki who manages the accounts. She always responded right away with all the information I requested. Their prices are reasonable and their team is excellent. I was able to schedule a hair and make up trial in Braintree about a month and a half prior to my wedding. I was so happy with my results. My make up and hair artist was Noelle. She is absolutely incredible. Jacki gave me Noelle because she said she specializes in braids and I knew I wanted my bridesmaids and I to have braids in our hair on the day. Very bohemian look. I did a very last minute hair and makeup trial with Maryanne and Rachel a month before my wedding, and they were so wonderful about it. I'd originally planned to go with another company, but my trial with them was absolutely terrible and I needed to find someone else, fast. I'd been recommended to call Special Event Beauty, and they got me in the very next afternoon on a Sunday for my trial. I know the ladies had to rush around to make it work, and I can't them them enough for that! Maryanne and Rachel came to The Groton Inn to do the hair and makeup of myself (the bride), my bridesmaids, my mother and soon to be mother-in-law. They showed up promptly, and even worked quickly with the inn to get a few taller chairs in our room to make their jobs easier. Everyone had a wonderful time with both of them, chatting and sharing a lot of laughs. It was the first time a few of them had ever had their hair and makeup done by someone else, and they put them at ease. Everyone loved the end results (including myself, after a bunch of little changes the day of - which they were both so wonderful about and didn't make me feel badly for being so indecisive in the moment) and I loved working with them both - I hope that I get to do it again sometime in the future - you know, for someone else's wedding ;) read more

Lisa was absolutely fantastic! She did airbrush makeup for all the girls for my wedding (about 8 of us) and I couldn't have been happier with my own fabulous makeup (I was the bride!) as well as my bridesmaids' makeup. She gave me a stunning vintage look, just ask requested! Not only did Lisa listen to everything I wanted while doing the trial about a month before the wedding, but she also replicated that exact look again on the wedding day too. Jackie did my makeup and hair while Justine did all of my bridesmaids' hair and one of my bridesmaids makeup. Everyone looked gorgeous! Both me and my bridesmaids were extremely happy! My whole idea about my wedding day was that I wanted to look how I look everyday. Jackie asked me to send her some pictures of what I do everyday for my makeup, which I think helped a lot.They were very patient with us, asked if we were ok with what was going on and made changes if needed. Kerry is fantastic! Very personable and immediately put me at ease with her easy-going personality and fun stories. I showed up to my trial with a couple of pictures, and she replicated them perfectly and took it up a notch. I was terrified of "prom hair", and she gave a truly sophisticated updo that was still "me". Hours later that day, the "do" was still holding firm! Kim was absolutely wonderful to work with for my July 2009 wedding. She was timely, patient, knowledgeable, and well-prepared for doing the makeup of the eight lovely ladies in my wedding party. Despite the varied skin types (ranging in age from 23 to 60 and in race from Irish to Asian) every one of us looked like a million bucks. My sisters, mom and I all had our foundation airbrushed on, and we nearly forgot that we were wearing makeup because it felt so light and natural! Kim gave each of us touch-up kits to use throughout the day, and she had great makeup tips to share. She was very reasonably priced, and the quality of her work was outstanding. Kim has done my make-up two other times as a bridesmaid and when my husband proposed, one of the things I knew immediately in the moments afterwards was that I wanted Kim to do my make-up. Of all of the things (and people!) that created stress and anxiety leading up to the wedding day, my hair and make-up was never one of them and with good reason. She has an amazing memory about the shades, colors, and palettes she has used on me before and caters what she does to each person. I do not wear a lot of make-up normally and she accentuated and highlighted my features in a very subtle, natural, and beautiful way - same with my bridal party. Rachel and Kim did both the hair and makeup for myself and my family on my wedding day three weeks ago. I had found their website online and amidst very positive reviews I did a hair and makeup trial with them last year. The trial was great in both that I got to meet them as well as see their abilities and talk with them about what I wanted for my wedding day. Kim, the owner, is extremely friendly and personable and was great to work with for my make up, using the best products, as was Rachel, who did my hair and styled it exactly as how I had hoped for. On my wedding day they were both very professional and friendly, doing beautiful work in terms of all our makeup and hair. Our hairstyles lasted through the night (thanks to Rachel, not having us feel as though we couldnt move but her products were used well), and the make up lasted also, but it felt so light (again, speaking to the high quality of products that Kim uses) that overall, we all felt beautiful and fresh for the wedding event. My first Yelp review ever deservedly goes to Jackie and Justine of Special Event Beauty! For my recent wedding in Boston, Jackie was our makeup artist and Justine was our hair stylist and everything turned out so beautifully! I looked like a better version of myself (not fake), and everything was exactly as I asked and hoped. Jackie and Justine are friendly, sweet, and totally the best! They came to our hotel room to do hair and airbrush makeup for myself, 3 bridesmaids, 3 mothers/stepmothers, and even a small touch up on the groom! They were there from 9 AM to about 1 PM. They even provided an option for "eye makeup only" for people that didn't want the full airbrush. Everything from the trial run to the wedding day was great and stress free. We received many compliments from the guests on how good our hair and makeup was, and we looked just as beautiful at the end of the night as at the beginning.
