Got my exam done there, but when I tried to use their prescription elsewhere it turned out that it was only good for correcting my nearsightedness, and no information was provided regarding my need for reading lenses (farsightedness). I called them twice requesting a complete prescription and got refused twice by their staff. Only after I posted a critical review here I got the issue resolved. I love Dr. Maria Nguyen! I've been coming here for 3 years and she's one of those doctors whose care welcomes patient participation. I've been struggling with dry eye for about 3 years and she was able listen to me and draw up a treatment plan that works for my life style. I've gone to a dry eye surgeon before and his empathy and cooperation was much less than Dr. Nguyen! She's helped me so much that now I'm back to wearing contact lenses again. I just moved here from Washington state and had to look for an eye doctor that was in network with my insurance. I was advised to go here. It is inside Walmart. The person who greeted me was very accommodating and overall the service is great. I had my eyes checked, it was a typical annual check-up. Nothing special. But I asked if he could check my daughters eyes for a second. She had been blinking hard ever since we moved here and I thought it would be OK to have him check her eyes. Why they were blinking abnormally. He dismissed it and told me it was allergies. Didn't even check her eyes closely. Didn't even come near her. I won't put the blame on him as it was my appointment. But it would've been nice if he were more accommodating. I wasn't asking for much. But I am upset finding out now that what my daughter has is neurological and is advised to be seen by a pediatric neurologist. I wish my eye doctor did not dismiss me and my daughter. I wish he would've taken the time to look at her eyes, just for a minute. I'm upset. I won't put the whole blame on him as I had seen 2 other doctors who also dismissed us. read more

I was not very pleased with my visit today. I saw a Dr I have never seen before with no warning. He was nice, quick and to the point so that was fine. I also had no pre-information that I could no longer order my contacts and glasses using my insurance this year. I used it just last year so when I went today and had my annual exam I assumed things would follow the same as last year. The fact I had just talked with a young lady yesterday to make the appointment and confirmed all info stayed the same is why I am so bothered by this. I feel mislead by the staff in not informing me they would no longer use my plan for ordering glasses or contacts. The staff was not helpful at all either. Very unpleasant younger girl who was sitting at the desk to talk with. I don't believe I will continue using them because of this. Unfortunate because of how convenient they are to us and how happy I have been in the past. It's absolutely not a pleasant feeling to feel mislead by your medical staff or like they flat out do not care. I think it would have been much better handled had hey let me know upon making my appointment so I would have gone into my appointment knowing my glasses and contacts would be out of pocket expenses to me instead I left without ordering anything. read more

I had an appt on 5/7 for an eye exam for contact lens. After waiting for 20 minutes past by appt time, I was finally called back. During the exam on 2 occasions I was left alone in the exam room for in excess of 30 mins. The optometrist did modify my prescription, but did not have both lens for me to wear out. She indicated that it would take 3 days and I would be notified to come and get them to try. Later that evening, I had to remove the lens she had asked me to try as my eye sight was far worse than it had been with my old prescription and use my old lens. I had not heard anything from them until I received a call from them on 5/20, which unfortunately, I was unable to answer at the time. I expected to at least have a voice mail with instructions to come and get my "correct" lens. There was no voice mail. I will not return to this business again. read more

**UPDATED** After sharing my experience here, I was contacted directly by Dr. Umar. We spoke about what happened and he apologized for how things turned out. He requested an opportunity to address the matters at hand and I agreed to come back for an appointment the following week (11/18). Yesterday was a huge difference from the previous visit. Everyone there was helpful and welcoming. My son was in and out in under 20 minutes...which left enough time for me to get my own annual eye exam done that same day during the same appointment time. Dr. Nguyen even helped me decide between two new frames...one of which she called "boring"...and she was right, lol. This was the experience that I was used to having at U&M. I appreciate the extra effort Dr. Umar took in reaching out and I'm glad I decide to give them an opportunity to make it right. This office was very professional. You wouldn't expect that necessarily since they are located inside of the Walmart. The optometrist was very knowledgeable and had me try out contacts for an astigmatism which hadn't been suggested in years for me. The contact didn't fit well for me, but it was nice that he mentioned it. Also, the tech Ty was great. She was super friendly and efficient. I was in and out in less than an hour. This review is primarily for the part beside the dr's office. I have no problems with the dr's office itself. I find them to be very friendly and efficient. However I neglected to order my daughter's glasses the same day as her exam bc I wanted to check out some other frames. Apparently there's never an optician available. I could not get her pupillary distance due to no optician being available, another time the poor guy couldn't even adjust my daughter's glasses, if nothing can be done without an optician what is the point of them being open. One time she took a break for over 2 hours another time she wasn't even supposed to come in. I was tired of coming up there and wasting my time calling and driving . If I could've given this company zero stars I would have. I have never seen a so called "professional" Eye doctors office, so extremely unprofessional. My 6 yo daughter needed glasses so I made an appointment for her. Upon my first appointment I was greeted by Yolanda with an attitude and sneers. I then was kept waiting 30 minutes past my appointment time before even being called back to one room. Then we were ushered back to the waiting area to wait another 30 minutes before finally being called back to see the doctor. The doctor was very friendly I will say, although a little difficult to understand due to an accent, I did not have an issue with that. On my second appointment, we were again greeted by Yolanda with an attitude and sneers. We were kept waiting again an HOUR past our appointment time. When I voiced my issue with this, I again got an attitude from Yolanda. I had to go in there (for the last time I decided) because my daughter had broken her glasses and needed new ones. Thankfully they had a warranty. I was greeted by Yolanda with her "usual" demeanor. She ordered the new glasses for me then I had one question. I was told to "sit down" and wait for the doctor again. Now there was a customer in the waiting area and I just had a quick yes or no question. All the while the "doctor" and another associate in a white coat were standing in the front chitchatting about personal stuff. I could hear what they were talking about because I was sitting 5 feet away with Yolanda while she was ordering my daughters glasses. So this is my total experience, I will not be going back. I guess that's what I get for going to an "in Walmart" eye doctors office. I definitely learned I will be going to a "real" eye doctor from now on. They need to learn that they would have happy customers if they valued their customers and had respect for their customers time. read more

I have to say that the doctor there is amazing. She was very sweet and informative. So Cute Pregnant. The other staff Rude and not helpful. My son has been having very bad headaches, so seeking glasses was our first stop to trying to fix this problem. I was told that the glasses would be in, in 3 to 4 weeks. So at the 3 week mark I called to check on them. It took four different people to found his information. The first two people could not even found him in the system. The third was so rude, because we have Wellcare, He tells me that the government is slow and that was why it was taking so long. I replied with the government doesn't make my sons glasses your company does. He said, "Well if you had different insurance then they would be back in a week. You glasses will take about 6 weeks." Are you KIDDING me??? Sound to me like someone forgot to send them off or something. I have gotten glasses from here before and it took about 3 1/2 weeks for them to come back. The forth girl gets on the phone and is super nice. Tell me she is sorry and she hates that they are taking this long. They are hoping to have a shipment sometime next week. That they would hopeful be in there. That someone would call me. If they would have just put her on the phone to start with things would have been a lot smoother.
