One out of four employees didn't have a mask on when I walked in. Worse, he was the one who assisted me. I kept my distance but it showed that there wasn't any safety precautions being taken for their employees or customers. I ordered a specialty light bulb over the phone, had to wait a day to pick it up. My order wasn't found, then I was told it wasn't even made. Finally, they reveal the expensive speciality light bulb is so rare no one around the city has it. Then they wanted to special order it and it would take a week. A day after I made the order by phone and left my name and contact info to pick it up. The level of inconsideration and blasé incompetence for a customer was frustrating. I left, called LBU Lighting and they had a replacement. read more

I really appreciate all the help that Derek and Adam provided today. At this times of Covid it's really hard for local businesses to keep on working and it was impressive how they followed the covid safe protocols. As soon as you enter to the lighting store they provide hand sanitizer, the store is huge and it wasn't crowded. All the staff was wearing masks and kept the appropriate distance. Truly great customer service. Personally not the best at the technical side of lighting but Derek couldn't have been more welcoming and attentive to my needs. I ordered online a new modern pendant and and went to pick it up. They told me how to install it and more details. Got my lighting fixture and then some lightbulbs for my bathroom that needed to be replaced. They explained to me that led lighting is the new trend and than whenever I decided to remodel a space in my house that I could come before for a complimentary consultation. I will come back at the beginning of the year and I am excited to work with them and take a look at all the lighting catalogs that they have at the store. Terrible experience. I ordered two metal-halide bulbs and sent them a spec sheet by email to make absolutely sure that we'd get the right ones. They ordered them and the owner, Derek Hude, informed me that they were ready for pick-up. I spent one hour in traffic to get to the place, only to find that they had ordered the wrong bulbs. Not only didn't they apologize but tried to blame it first on me and then on the manufacturer/distributor ("we ordered the right ones but they sent us the wrong ones"). They then promised to send us the bulbs at no additional charge. I was OK with that and paid. The next day I get a call from them telling me that the bulbs wouldn't be $29.90 plus tax each as quoted (and paid) but more than $50 each and if I was OK with the additional charge. Again, no apology and the attempt to blame the mistake on me. I declined and opted for a refund instead. The guy who called, Bisser, was rather rude and told me that his time was too valuable to argue with me. Looks like their time is more valuable than their customer's time... I was looking to replace my broken mini starburst chandelier with the same item. It was discontinued. I called showrooms across the country looking to find it. No one was helpful till I called Specialty Lighting. Bibi (sp?) remembered the fixture well and said that the broken crystals could be unscrewed and replaced. He called the manufacturer and tracked down the replacement crystals. Not only is the fixture once again like new, it cost significantly less than a replacement fixture which indeed was not available. I'm now 100% loyal! Thank you!! read more

I was looking for a very specific product that after months of research and +11 lighting shops visited in Miami and so many online websites contacted to find it, I learned with Specialty Lighting that it was discontinued by manufacturer as they called together with me to check how feasible was still to find it somewhere. As a result of that, Anibal went beyond and above in helping me find the most similar one possible and we did it! The entire purchasing process was seamless, Anibal was always reachable by phone either in the store or mobile and he was keeping me updated - almost- on a daily basis on the tracking as it was coming from Canada. Could care less about their customers. Walked in - was tough to get anyone to care to help. When I did (I prefer helping small businesses. Silly me) - I ordered 2 light fixtures - none in stock. Prepaid. Told to wait a week and pick up. A week later - called and told they c ant fulfill the Order! Only wanted to process a refund. No alternatives. Deal customer service and cannot even fulfil an order. Waste of time. Shop elsewhere!! read more

This is small compared to some of the places in the area but the customer service is terrific. If it isn't on display there are many catalogs to look through as well. Derek the owner was very accommodating when I had to return some LED fixtures that my electrician said were not going to work. Even though I paid a restocking fee, Derek charged me a lower fee than the original receipt had said. I like this place and will come back in the future for my lighting needs. read more
