On February 10, 2026 I went with my father-in-law to Specialty Medical to purchase an electric wheelchair. I was the one communicating with the owner, Doug, during the visit and he even texted me the receipt directly while I was standing there in the store. Within a day or two, around February 12th, we decided to cancel the order. From that point forward we spent weeks calling and trying to get a refund. On March 12th I texted Doug again regarding the refund. Screenshots of that conversation are included with this review. In those messages he discussed giving a partial refund and repeatedly asked that we remove the review. On Friday March 13th I personally went back to the store and picked up cash from Doug in the amount of $2,355. Even then the full amount was not refunded despite the order being cancelled almost immediately after the purchase. After I posted my original review about the experience, Doug began calling and texting me asking that I delete it. I have included screenshots of those communications so people can see exactly what was said. Doug also replied publicly to my previous review claiming that I was not a customer of the business. That is not accurate. I was present in the store during the purchase, communicated directly with Doug, received the receipt from him by text, and I was the one who returned to the store to collect the refund. I have also included screenshots of the original review that was removed. People rely on reviews when making important decisions, especially when purchasing medical equipment. Because of how this situation was handled and the communication afterward asking that the review be removed, I believe it is important to share my experience so others can make informed decisions. Doug is a liar. Do NOT shop this business or believe any of his guarantees or lies. He guaranteed that if we did not want our wheelchair that he would be able tI sell it and get us more than our money back because he was selling it to us for so cheap. This shop is over priced , he will try and act as your friend to get the sale. He charged $2399 in February 2026 and said he has to order the wheelchair and it would be received in a few days and delivered to our home. Within a day we decided to cancel the wheelchair order. Doug said he would need to resell the chair and to give him a month and that he sells these all of the time. It's now middle of March and he's saying he can only return $2000! We've never received the wheelchair and do not want it. Why can't he refund the $2399. This guy is unethical and I witnessed it first hand. This company is awesome. My daughter in law broke her ankle unexpectedly, and was going to try to hobble her way thru my grandson's high school graduation. She was in desperate need of a wheelchair. Fits onto small elevators and into cruise ship cabins. Today Doug delivered a new battery pack for my Gogo and also sold an older 4 wheeler Gogo for me that I had trouble turning corners in my house...not as tight a turning radius in house as the three wheeler, but definitely a real work horse outside and definitely has more stability outside.
