When it comes to steak I can be tough. There is nothing I enjoy more than a nice piece of dead bovine on a fork. Especially when it is masterfully prepared. Well, this ain't it. The steak was of excellent quality, but the preparation let down the meat. I ordered the large filet, medium well. What i got was a butterfly cut piece of medium rare, medium at best, steak. THEY BUTTERFLY CUT THE STEAK?!?!?!? What the heck? Oh yeah, they did not ask me if I wanted my steak whacked on. They are suppose to be a steak place. Everyone in the surrounding area said go her for steak. Well if you cannot cut a 12oz filet medium well without butterflying the dang thing you are not a steak house. Its steak for crying out loud, a $29 dollar hunk of it. Learn how to cook it! And please make sure it gets to the table warm...........you own menu states HOT pink center, not warm, heading toward cool to down right cold, red center. Salad was small but okay and the baked potato was actually done perfectly. The actual steak was fine quality and despite the efforts of the cook (notice I did not say chef) to ruin the meat, the quality of the meat came through. The sweet tea was excellent. If u want a steak this is the place. Simple menu. French onion soup delicious cheesy croutons make the soup. The tidbits also are delicious.

We had ate there tonight for the first time. I never thought the business was open because I never saw cars there. The parking is located on the east side of the building. The enterance is on the backside too. We had excellent food. Filet and the fabulous onion soup. The salad was fresh and large. Everything tasted wonderful. Could not have asked for better service and the staff was extremely friendly. Highly recommend to people that enjoy a good steak and great atmosphere. read more

I've lived in this town for 6 years and often passed on going to The Speckled Perch because it just doesn't look that inviting or even look like a traditional steakhouse. My wife and I tried it out for the first time and we both learned not to judge a book my it's cover. Yes, the place could probably use a remodel and is definitely considered "a hole in the wall" kind of restaurant - I've learned through my travels that those are some of the best spots. The food was excellent. I had a French onion soup to start - it was by far one of the best renditions of the classic I have ever tasted. I had the small filet and baked sweet potato for my entree. The filet was so tender and cooked to the temperature I ordered. The sweet potato was also excellent. My wife had the steak Caesar salad, she thoroughly enjoyed it. My daughter had the steak tidbits which was absolutely delicious, I may have stole a few pieces :-). For dessert I had the fried cheesecake. The exterior was probably left in the fryer for too long but the Cheesecake still tasted great, I guess you can't hit a homerun every time you're at bat. The wait staff was excellent, they were friendly, attentive, and checked on us regularly. The only downside to this place is presentation. The presentation of the food and dessert is not what I would expect from a steakhouse, but the flavors of the food and service more than made up for it. This place will surely save us a trip from going out of town to enjoy a great steak. If you are in this town, be sure to visit this diamond in the rough. read more

This 1 star is too much! Started with waiting too long to take our drink order. Restaurant was not too busy, but 1 waitress doing all the work and 3 others chit chatting. Never received the complimentary veggies or bread with the meal. Starters were good -both the soup and salad, however all 4 meats were under cooked, including a piece of raw in the middle chicken. Waitress never asked how meal was until she gave us the bill. (We were reimbursed for the raw chicken and a round of beers--basically cost $80 for 4 potatoes) All around terrible experience. read more

Don't be scared by the exterior!! Yes, there are no windows, and yes, it is a siding enclosed building, however, once your eyes adjust to the darkness, you can enjoy the small county town charm that this family restaurant has. The health conscious side of me really enjoyed the complimentary fresh veggies (carrots, celery, radishes, black olives, pepperoncinis) served with the most amazing (ranch?) dressing I have ever tasted. Steak was cooked to perfection, was not overpriced, and was very good. And you must try the fried cheesecake! If you plan on sticking around for a Saturday night, let your server know because he gave us passes to the Bream Room to save on the $5 cover. Live band, real cowboys, impromptu line dancing! This is my go to when I want a steak and don't want to cook it myself. A little dark inside for my liking and if you sit in the wrong place at the wrong time, when opening front door will allow the sun to temporarily blind you. Staff is friendly and usually very attentive. read more

Visited the Speckled Perch for the first time. The restaurant was very busy and seemed under-staffed. There were numerous tables and only one server in the outer area. The celery and carrots were fine but small, salad small and vegetables and potatoes good to adequate. Steaks were expensive and only choice cuts with meats supplied by CISCO. Steaks were good/ average. Nothing outstanding The $7.00 split charge seemed to us excessive considering the price of the steaks. Atmosphere in the outer room is dark and dismal. All in all the other reviews are misleading This restaurant is a Rough Diamond!!!! read more

All I have to say is that they have the best steaks in town! They don't do the steak Pittsburgh style, but whatever they did to my New York strip makes my mouth water just remembering it! They have awesome service both at the bar and when you are seated. the restaurant seems like a diamond in the ruff! best steak in Okeechobee county (but 'Cowboys' has a semi-close one and 'Cowboys' has yummy (!!) margueritas .. though 'Cowboys' also had FLIES all over the place (one got stuck in my food !!) yes really, the last time I was there (so I never went back lol) duh . anyway, the Speckled Perch is horrendous when you walk in .. its like the carpet and walls are the same from 1974 along with the grease they fry the fries in .. it even has a smell .. I mean its awful .. (I almost left) However ! the steaks ! are the best in Okeechobee county as stated. the reason it gets 3 stars is not the interior décor (ugh) but because the wait staff and the guy in the kitchen argues with you (me), calls you names (called me names) and basically cant add, nor stand by his wait staff when they quoted me a price for my steak .. ! on a previous visit I ordered a larger filet .. the girl (Nicole) gav me a price .. and the steak was stellar plus she (Nicole) was really great. the very next day I went back for the same thing .. I even iterated the price to (a different) waitress to confirm and the steak was ok .. but then the price was more ! after checking they corrected it .. but only after 1. chastising me tableside ! in front of employees and other customers alike .. ! 2. speaking privately with the guy in the kitchen (I forget his name) but he started calling me names he realized my logic was flawless and he was wrong . instead of admitting it, he resorted to those measures which I will Never forget .. 3. they kept claiming it was "added wrong" .. when upon adding what they stated, the amount I originally had mentioned I was previously charged (by other, stellar waitress Nicole) was the correct amount and the Truth prevailed .. ! what didnt was they way they "finally admitted" when it didnt hav to be that way .. I was out, enjoying myself away from projects and work .. wanted a good steak .. (just not a Hard Time ..!) the back-and-forth on the price (which I clairified at the Beginning !!!!) took close to 30 minutes .. (who Does that !?!) SHAME ON YOU SPECKLED PERCH !! It's an older but very local Steakhouse, I found the atmosphere nice, the service was great, and my Steak very good. My date got a great chicken ceaser salad, she said the dressing was to die for, but she found the menu limited if your not a Steak Eater. The prize was when we finished, the waitresses asked if we wanted to go next door to the Night Club (Bream Room) and gave us tickets so we wouldn't have to pay a cover. It was only $5.00 but the band was awsome, it's not a night club but a good ole fashioned Honky Tonk, Live music, cowboys, COWGIRLS and great service for such a busy place. I was there on a saturday and had to be nearly 300 people but was told friday is a little slower but still alot of fun. Next time we'll try friday, we travel all over that area and didn't even know it was there. Drink Prices were very reasonable and well made. The Club definately gets 5 stars. read more

If I could give no stars I would. When we entered there was an unappetizing, damp and musty smell. There was only 1 four top occupied, the dinning area was empty. We stood there for 8 mins without anyone in sight. I walked through the place and around the corner and found an occupied 4 top and still no server or host to be found. I walked towards the back to find a bartender who had 6 stool occupants. She explained that the server was probably in the kitchen. I peeked my head into the kitchen and seen no one. This was an amazing dinner. I had steak and it was tender and delicious. My wife and I are from Chicago, and are thus used to very good steak. I was pleasantly surprised that my steak at the Speckled Perch was the best I've had. We were hesitant to go, given the unassuming exterior, but our relatives said it was good, so we did, and we don't regret it. My wife said the chicken was very good, too.
