After almost three months, several eye exams, and three different sets of lenses from a local "big box" optical store I finally came to my senses and checked Yelp reviews. Steve goes above and beyond to help you solve your problems and meet your needs - his store is a gem in LA! I have worn glasses all my life and have been to countless glasses shops across the country (and abroad), and I can assure you that I have never met anyone as honest, helpful, and thoughtful as Steve. My glasses, which I got from another place just last year, cracked in half (again) and I had to fly out of the country for work for a year the next day. I was desperately looking for a way to fix my glasses. I called and went to a few places - they were all pretty bad. One place proposed that I get a new exam, new lenses, and a new frame, totaling "just $600"; another place made all kinds of excuses/lies for why my glasses can't be fixed and therefore I should buy a new frame from them. Steve pretty much saved me - he thought of several solutions for me, fixed my glasses within the hour, and saved me a lot of money and headache. Do yourself a favor and get your glasses from here. This has got to be the greatest glasses place in all of southern california. I've been coming here for new glasses for almost 20 years now, and Steve's shop just keeps getting better. His selection of frames is huge and sophisticated. The lab he uses for lenses is fabulous. He takes tremendous care in assembling the final product. What a customer service!!!!! Amazing!!!! I Bought my pair of glasses 4 months ago and recently noticed lots of micro-scratches (I would say they are due to my usage). I went to the store just to see if they had any product they could put to improve them. The owner offered me to replace them for free saying that it might be an manufacturer problem! Just wanted to drop a quick note on this place. They carry the top of the line eyewear but the best part is the service and knowledge of the owner Steve. Very cool guy and to sum it up, knows his *ish. I came in to have sunglasses adjusted. I brought in 3 of them and he adjusted all three for super cheap. He even broke the news that yes...one of my ears is higher than the other! Well at least my sunglasses will sit right from now on. Don't be intimidated by some of the high end lenses you see through the Specstacular window. Steve will work with you and your budget. I went in with a pic of Prada glasses I lusted over and Steve picked out a similar look without the Italian designer price tag. When I accidentally lost one of the stems due to wear and tear he had a replacement within a week as promised. I've purchased many frames from Steven and they are always unique and comfortable. The owner, Steven, is what makes this place so great. When he speaks with you, he asks what you do, how often you wear your frames and really studies your facial features. He really tries to get an idea of your personality and what frames would best suit you. His recommendations are always amazing and often times you get glasses that never thought would work. I've been getting my glasses from this place for years now and I have never been disappointed. They have an awesome selection of frames. Steve is like an eyewear wizard! Seems like every time I've gone in there, I tell him what I'm looking for and BOOM, he pulls out exactly that. I've been told by other places that my prescription is tricky and it has to be sent out to a special lab, yadda yadda and I end up waiting forever for my new glasses. I love that he does his lenses in house and he has them ready in about 5 days. Just great. His associate, Nancy, is also very knowledgeable and helpful. I have been in twice now, and I have been pleasantly surprised both times. I have older glasses that I purchased years ago through another store, but Steve has been completely willing to fix them: first a broken lens, and just today a broken nose pad. His prices are great (much, much better than through my eye doctor), and the turnaround time can't be beat! I have been wanting another pair of glasses since I need a new prescription, so I stopped by based on the great yelp reviews. I have a very strong prescription, so the challenge is always finding a smaller frame that will still look good on me. The woman who helped me was not very helpful finding me the smaller frames--she said they mostly get the bigger frames because essentially those are more fashionable. Really! And the brands they carry are pretty mainstream, nothing special--silhouette, chanel, prada, oliver peoples, etc, the usual luxottica brands everyone else has. Five stars for Steve, Nancy, and Specstacular. Zero stars for me. Why? Because I cheated on them. Read on if you want all of the embarrassing details. In the past decade, I've had many perfect pairs of eyeglasses chosen by Nancy, created by the magical Spectacular elves, and adjusted by Steve. I wear glasses almost 20-7 (yes, I'm a light sleeper) and thanks to Specstacular, I have never -- and I mean never -- been uncomfortable or disappointed. This year, I went to my optometrist for my annual and was seduced by my own hubris into buying frames on the spot. His office carried a line of frames that would make me feel good about myself; I could buy a pair and give a pair to some needy far-sighted child in a third world country! I My desire to make a quick & easy donation to a worthy cause overwhelmed my judgement. A few weeks later (not days later, as it's always been with Specstacular) I picked up my new guilt-free glasses. Upon wearing them for a few days, I realized they're cheap frames that don't fit right and never will. In his infinite kindness, Steve offered to adjust them for me, even though he didn't make a dime on them. Needless to say, I've learned my lesson. I completely understand why this place gets such great reviews. Everyone was nice. I didn't feel pressured. They have Chanel and ray-ban. I am supposed to get my prescription sunglasses within a week for about the same price LensCrafters was going to charge me for just my lenses. I have crazy astigmatism on my left eye. Steven makes the lenses on site and is really great about working around my problem eye.
