Food and drinks inside any big venue like this tend to be just ridiculous. At spectrum they are pretty much on par. They do have a craft beer garden so at least you can get different beers and a pretty good variety of food for prob double what it would cost you outside the venue. So I tend to eat dinner somewhere prior to any events here. My company has a box so I've been attending a lot more games and concerts here lately. I use to always think I enjoyed concerts at outdoor amphitheaters over big arenas because there is just something about summer outdoor concerts that you cant get from an indoor venue. And trust me I still do. However after seeing a few performers at both outside venues and here at Spectrum center I will say the sound is so much better inside Spectrum center. So if you want to see your favorite band or music act this is definitely the place to do it. read more

I had the great fortune of recently attending a Charlotte Hornets game recently in the Hardwood Club and it was VIP service from the moment you enter the loading dock to the Hardwood Club Lounge to being center court front row action. The customer service is truly above and beyond what I've experienced at other coliseums around the U.S. and they made sure that all my requests were handled in a professional and courteous manner. Everyone I encountered seemed like they wanted to be there, wanted to make your experience memorable. In the Hardwood Club, the food was very good considering it was buffet style and the seating was intimate but not crowded or loud. And if you want to spend a little quiet time there you can and still watch the game on the 50in televisions. I will definitely be back here soon to do again because its truly an experience not just a game. I will also say my experiences are just related to my recent visit but a culmination of all my visits whether it was a concert, the circus or basketball game. read more

We were there for the Barbershop International Convention. They did great hosting the competition but the staff and faculty were so rude to us. One lady told us we were not allowed on the floor when we were just trying to walk across to get to the rest of our group. Another man that was allowed on the floor asked us to come down to take a picture with him after the competition was over and I tried to walk down and a very condescending man said that we were not allowed to walk down. When I explained that I was just getting a picture not trying to sit down there, he said it didn't matter but we were not allowed down there. I've been to TWC Arena a handful of times to see the Checkers as well as the KNICKS...whoops, I meant bobcats...no wait, I meant Hornets. This place is really easy to get to for me as I live 2 stops up on the light rail. The arena itself is pretty new and modern. I believe it was finished around 2005 or 2006? It doesn't matter what employee you deal with, they are all super friendly and helpful. You can make your way around the arena very easily as well -- Signs everywhere directing you where to go.NBA Power ranking for this Arena is 21 out of 31. So its not the greatest....it's not the worst. Anyone want to take at guess at which arena comes in at #1 lol? What I was surprised to see was the limited amount of food options in the lower 100's. Typically the 100's have your better food options but all I could seem to find was Bojangles and papa johns? Am I missing something? Anyways...this is a great little arena to come to. First basketball game. Came to watch the Bobcats beat the Pacers to start off a good season! They won! 90-89. Friday night - $5 ticket for a 200s seat. Totally worth the entertainment! - Great crowd. So much enthusiasm coming from a team where at first impression thought they probably have the worst spirit. - 50% concession after half-time!!! hot dog, beer, drink and fries for 12.65! wooo - Don't get a sprite! Horrible. No citrus, just carbonated water. yuck. - Free ticket to watch them play against the Suns! Such a long line... - Next to the Hyatt! Easy transportation. Train! - GO Kemba. GO Bobcats! We had an amazing time there last night. The concert was on time and the arena nice and clean. The restrooms were clean and the attendant was visible and continued to keep the restroom clean while in use loved that! Pricey food: However, the food was very pricey 15.50 dollars @ Bojangles and 5.50 for a small Coke ridiculous. I felt that was completely over priced and price gouging. Other then that the spectrum center was a great place to hold this event. The ushers were very helpful navigating the huge arena. read more

Having lived here back when the hornets were in the old stadium..this place is heads and shoulders above the last place. For my next visit it was a date night to watch John Legend and Sade in concert. The concert was really good. The Arena was also good as we had nose bleed seats, but the sound was good and getting drinks and access to bathrooms were easy. All and all, I am still in love with this venue. ANOTHER HINT: If the event you attend isn't a block buster, the parking deck with the big circular drive down is right next door and only $6 or so buck for parking which is cheap as event parking goes. read more

attended hornets cavs game on 2.4.22 friday nite; ordered bbq nachos from carolina moonshine; they have figured out a way to lightly spread a little bbq on top of the nachos so that once that thin layer is gone, you are left with about 6 layers of cheap dry tortilla chips. I took my order back and asked for more "sauce." They refused. After I explained how badly the nachos were in front of waiting customers, they did offer a small (2 tablespoon) container of bbq sauce. For ten bucks i would definitely recommend going into the burger king across from spectrum before the game and buying a double cheeseburger for 2 bucks and smuggle into arena read more

I've been to both college & pro bball games here, along with a PBR event, so I've seen a lot that this arena has to offer. It really is a nice, new arena located right in uptown Charlotte. From the outside, this arena fits in very nicely with the local landscape & doesn't give the feeling of being too large & menacing. Inside, the concourse area is a lot more wide open then you'd expect. It really is spacious & inviting, allowing ample room to maneuver to the closest bathrooms or concessions. And you'll be impressed with the concessions, as long as you don't look at the price. They have the most variety I've ever seen in an arena, & wait for it....they actually take debit cards! Thank you...someone finally figured out that people don't want to use ATMs with usage fees in your arena or stadium. To the viewing; if you're high upper level, don't expect to love your seat. I've sat in the last row in the corner & was mad I spent money to sit there. You'll spend a good portion of your time ogling at the massive videoboard & trying to figure out just how tall the buildings atop it actually are. Also, the steps in the upper level are so steep that you'll clutch the hand rail with all your might on the way down. But in the lower level, I don't think there's a bad seat; you're close to the action from wherever you're sitting. While some people may not think the action on the floor should go into a review on the arena, I think it's the main reason people go there so it's a pretty big chunk of my rating. The arena alone would get a 4, but the action gets a 2 if it's the Bobcats. I thoroughly dislike the NBA, so I have a lot of bias here. During an NBA game, none of the fans really get into it & that's partly due to the boringness of the NBA. So while I've been quite impressed with the arena, depending on my seating location, the action on the floor doesn't have me clamoring to go back for more. Saw Guns n Roses on Sept 25. This review is more a reflection on the piss poor job the sound engineers did and potentially the acoustics of the venue. The instruments sounded fine, and Axl, surprisingly hit almost all the growls he's famous for. But, and a HUGE but, he was almost completely inaudible and entirely too much mid-range. I felt it ruined the experience. I don't see attending another concert at this location. Each I have been to have had audio issues. Other venues in the Charlotte sound MUCH better. read more

Home to the Bobcats and the Checkers, this three-year-old arena is very nice. I've had all kinds of seats for games there - from crappy nose bleed seats to skyboxes to sweet lower bowl seats. The arena creates a fun atmosphere for Bobcats games - now we just need the Bobcats' playing ability to match. The best way to get to the arena is the light rail. Parking ranges from $10 to $20 on game nights. And then you have to sit in your car for a long time trying to get out of the garage after the game has let out. As with most arenas, the concession stand prices are ridiculous. Beers are $7.50 or $8.50 for example. If you're hungry before or after the games, I'd suggest you eat at Brixx or Coco Osteria. read more

I've been out here a good amount of times as TWC area and never had anything to complain about. That said, my first time experiencing the roll over to "Spectrum Center" could have been better. I attended TSO in early December. Weather could have been better, temps were around the low 30's. Cold. We walked over from 7th street garage, and assumed it would be a quick walk over. As we were literally showing up right at the start time of the show, we were reluctant to see a line that was almost back to Fitz. It took us another 30 minutes to get up to the door. Slowest. Moving. Line. Ever. I had hoped that they might delay the start of the show as there were a significant amount people even behind us, but no. I don't know what these security people were doing that screwed half the people at this event, but after finally getting in, we clearly missed a good 40 minutes of actual showtime. I can understand having sound security measures, but it clearly seemed like they waiting too long to even start cycling people through. After finally getting in, all other event aspects were as expected- helpful staff, quick concession lines, etc. It seems that most of the operation and staff is the same, but seriously, some improvements need to be made. At minimum, do a better job of notifying the ticket holders about the security delay. I'm sure I'll be back. read more

My girlfriend and I attended a concert there and the seats were up high but the angle allowed for an awesome view of the stage. The Spectrum Center is also located in a great part of the city with many great places to dine before a show or game. I would recommend seeing a show here to any of my friends. I've been to Madison Square Garden, Wachovia/Wells Fargo Center in Philly, United Center in Chicago, Phillips arena in Atlanta, American Airlines Arena in Miami but as far as basketball, TWC Arena in Charlotte is good. I love the fact that parking is cheaper than any of those places and walking right into Bobcats tickets was easy! It is a comfortable setting for basketball. Going through the gate and up the escalator, I love the two big screen display in between the hallway that you can see the scoreboard. I thought that was pretty nifty. I think the seats can have a little more leg room. Other than that, the arena is average looking in the inside and probably would be good to go for any event. Easy to leave out of (if you dip out of the seats early enough) Overall grade: B read more

I really like the TWC Arena and the fact that it is centrally located with easy access to parking lots, decks and the light rail. We did not have time to go out to dinner before we went to the arena, so we ended up just grabbing a bite there before the event started. Of course, they have all the typical fast-food offerings: pizza, nachos, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, fries, etc. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich which came with a side of blue cheese coleslaw. Since I don't eat coleslaw, I gave it to David so he could put it on his Nathan's hot dog. (He said it was good & that it "made" the hotdog). My chicken sandwich was not bad for fast food. We had 2 bottles of water along with the hotdog & chicken sandwich for $24 which is typical pricing for this sort of venue. Later I decided to have a beer and they had an ok selection of bottles or draft... in addition to the big-name domestic beers, they also had Amstel Light, New Moon, etc. We also had some popcorn during the show, and it was good - not too salty or overcooked. The staff members that we encountered were friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that they really need to have more ladies restrooms. By section 102, the women's restroom on the main level had only 4 stalls. Really!!! What were they thinking?! read more

Love coming here for events! I've seen Hornets games, Checkers games, WWE, concerts, and the circus here. There really isn't a bad seat in the house for the most part. I've sat in every section. The only thing I don't like is the food. In my opinion it's awful! Unless you like Bojangles or overlooked hot dogs, make sure you eat a hearty meal at home or elsewhere before coming here. Parking nearby isn't awful (usually between $5 and $20 depending on how close/far you are). Nice taking the light rail here, too! All in all, great venue! read more

The Spectrum Center is stunning! It's located in the heart of Charlotte and is one of the nicest stadiums I've been to! Great food concessions with tons of variety! They even have some local options mixed in! Parking is generally about $20 near the stadium which isn't too bad. Security lines typically move quickly and efficiently. Pro Tip: if it rains, they'll let you bring an umbrella in even though their website says otherwise. read more

Went to Monster Jam this afternoon-what a fun time! Tons of kids and their parents cheering on the huge trucks doing wheelies and flips over a huge dirt mound. The trucks compete against each other to see who can get the highest score and complete a trick the fastest. We saw the following trucks-The Gravedigger, El Toro, Hotwheels, The Zombie,a Dalmatian, and several more. All the seats had great views but it was LOUD! Most of the kids wore earphones to cover their ears from the noise and seemed fine. (Don't worry if you forget-they sell them here!) The souvenirs were awesome-The Gravedigger seems to be a fan favorite and the rainbow icies were served in three different cup variations of this truck. Lots of pennants, T-shirts and of course toy trucks. read more

This place is nice. It's in the heart of downtown. They have parking nearby for free to 15 dollars at the highest I saw. The rail line comes straight to the place as well. Went to a hornets game and the staff are friendly. They checked my bag without the harassment the concessions team was even pleasant. The highlights are the decor everything says charlotte hornets from entrance to the seats also it was very clean. I hope they can continue to maintain this. They had a phone charging station which was a pleasant surprise and the free tee shirt was a great addition to the game for team spirit. They had a section where you could take photos and get to know the various performers. At the end of the game a live band upon exiting. They had some nice gear at the stores. The drinks were strong and delicious. Only downfall was the hotdog which lacked flavor and they ran out of pretzels. I recommend a hornets game! read more

After the ordeal of dealing w/ Ticketmaster, i arrive at the arena to find i do not have aisle seats, which i paid extra. The seat u see in the pic is NOT an aisle seat. It is beside a column, but in order to reach the the aisle, about 15 people in each direction must stand up or move since there is about 3-4 in between someone's knees & the back of the seat in front of them. Also, just like another event i attended there, the people beside me talked the entire show. If i could've gotten up w/o disturbing the entire row, i would've notified the usher. read more

Nothing worthwhile in 200-level, especially with children, and lower level too much per seat! Only worth going here if you have 100 level seats, a possible 'ok' experience if you are club level or 200 rows A-D. Thought my $27 seats were a great deal in section 226, row U at the aisle......I felt almost sick (literally) from the height of these seats; it actually feels dangerous up there AND you get to see almost nothing. I was paranoid about my kids even walking up/down and forced them to sit still (always a challenge) because it really did not appear safe up there. We love basketball and were so excited to get 'group rate' tickets and it was so incredibly disappointing. We would only go back for 100 level seats, but I couldn't justify spending $97 per ticket for a family of 4 for one night! A small coke (about 16 oz total, prolly 8 with ice) was $5.24!!!! Geez! If you want good parking, the Center City Green Parking deck on E. 6th & the BOA Garage are right next to the stadium and $10 for game parking. Arrive before 6:30 for a little less traffic, 6pm probably better. Elevators will have a line going home, coming TO the game you will not wait as long to go down if you park on upper levels (they fill up by 4th level going down). read more

The folks that work at the center could not have been nicer. I would definitely go back again. The game started at 7 o'clock. We were surprised to see the doors of the center did not open until six. There's a lot of handicap accessible seating all around the arena. There is NO coffee place inside. You cannot bring in your own food or drinks! $6 for a soda, $4 for a bottle of water. I waited in a snack stand line for 45min to get a coke, water and burger. read more

The Lana Del Rey show started out wonderful and then midway through, this beefy guy in front of me and my friends decided to turn around and tell us we have been annoying all night. First of all, we had no intentions to ruin or annoy anyone's night. Second of all, it's a LANA DEL REY show and we were showing our enthusiasm and expressing ourselves. Third of all, we were enjoying the show until you turned around! The saddest part --- Lana had just gotten done expressing women's rights and tribute to all Women that should not be demeaned and belittled simply because they are woman and easily victimized. Well tonight I felt victimized that someone would take so offensively and personally that my girls' and my reactions to a show would make him so upset. As if you did not know that there would be tons of women there that perhaps, just perhaps may tick your pants off. Well I'm sorry if it did but that wasn't enough. No, It ruined your night and yes ours too because of your indecent behavior. I'm not grading Spectrum as a 3 because of this. Their employees were delightful as ever. The crowd or audience however, now that was something else. But that's not Spectrum's fault, that's the Charlotte concert scene. I'm always hesitant to go to a show here in Charlotte because of this. The crowd here does not know how to enjoy a show or get into a show. All I can say is, if you're not going to get into (because come on, we all know that's what the artist/band wants as well) then you ought to save yourself some $$$ and either get a seat far away or just not show up at all. read more
