Extremely seamless entry and all staff interaction was very pleasant!! Our seats were better than we anticipated and I can't think of any negatives, aside from drink prices. But it's to be expected at venues like this. I believe a 16 oz beer was around $18 before tip and a wine cocktail was around $20. It's not ideal, but it's sadly the norm. LOVED MY EXPERIENCE! The seats were so comfortable- holy, they were cushioned and I couldn't be more grateful. Navigating around was no trouble and we found our seats easily. I loved how staffed this arena was, and everyone seemed to enjoy their job. They were helpful whenever questions were asked. I've been to this arena many times over the years and it's always a great experience! Only 4 stars because I'd love more localized food options, like real food. But I understand stadium concessions, etc. I visited the arena recently for the Martin Lawrence "Lit AF" Comedy Tour and for the Hornets season opener. Both events were fantastic!!! We walked to the arena each time and that's really the best option to me. Even if you park near the arena you'll be stuck in the garage waiting for traffic to die down. Might as well park further away, walk up and save yourself the stress. read more

I had been here previously for a business event but returned when I won free tickets to see the Eagles in concert. Parking is horrendous and expensive downtown but we found a street lot a few blocks away. They were having St. Patrick's Day celebrations, which also didn't help with traffic and parking. For such a large venue, we also thought the variety of food options was lacking. The arena was fine for the concert, even though we thought it was odd that we couldn't bring cans and bottles bought onsite into the seating area (staff told us that was a request of the artist). I would return but only for a special artist or event that wasn't performing elsewhere in the state. read more

Had the opportunity to watch the New York Knicks vs Charlotte Hornets basketball game. Tickets offered by my alma mater, University of Dayton Charlotte Association. Had the privilege to sit court side during pre game warmups for the teams. Was supposed to meet a Dayton Alumni who plays for the Knicks but he didn't travel with the team due to injuries. Court side seats are comfortable and we're cool to sit in for the team being. Walked around the center to see what other attractions they would have. There are several photo backdrops for you to take pictures. Also some morals and picture displays of prior Hornet players. Other shopping booths and rooms for Hornet gear. Many other vendors their selling and advertising their businesses. Also many options for food with even having some known restaurants in the center, i.e. Chick-fi-la. The only thing I didn't like so that there were limited options in food for people who don't eat pork or beef. Also for people who are gluten free. I would suggest revamping their menus for those dietary restrictions. Other than that, the game was sort of fun. Would just need to go back when actual known players are playing. I was recently invited to a media event at Spectrum Center with some local foodies. We were treated to a luxury suite with food, games, drinks and seats to watch the game from the sky box. Because we were in the suite we didn't have to wait in the long entrance line to the game. We were able to zip around there the side entrance and take the elevator to the suite level which was super cool. Once in the suite it was clean, the prepared for was cooked well and nice presentation. The suite host was kind and attentive. We even received a visit from The Charlotte Hornets mascot Hugo! This was a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend watching the game from the suites. read more

I loved the TOMORROW X TOGETHER Concert in Charlotte they chose a good Arena to tour Im glad they finally gave Charlotte a chance~ They are the first kpop group to ever tour Charlotte and Im proud to have been there for that since it was literally not far from me so I was able to go! This was my first of hopefully many visits to the Spectrum Center. If we are talking about security measures it's a 10/10. You can't even bring a cigarette lighter into this place. I had to remove my heel boots because they were setting off the metal detectors. I almost thought I forgot my ID and a woman working the concessions told me I would not have been served without one. And that they check every time you come back. The flow of the entry line was a smooth process. The arena itself is HUGE. The staff was extremely friendly. We sat on the first level (section 103) yet our seats still seemed a little far so I couldn't imagine having seats in the 200 sections. read more

Visited the Spectrum several times thru out the yrs. Parking is really convenient and easy. If you are DT after 5pm most lots are $10, during the day $20 or more so be prepared. Make sure you account for the traffic so your not late to your event, just go early. Checking in a breeze, all the staff is professional and courteous every time I visit. The stadium has 15,000 and most times it sold out. Food is way to expensive, at before you come in. The arena is well maintained with the highest standards. I just saw Oprah and Celine Dion last week on two separate visits! Both events were outstanding! Oprah had TV screens all over, so no issues with visibility, Celine's show had only a few, I enjoyed but it could have been better. I didn't expect anything less from Oprah!! Charlotte is one my favorite spot to hang out in for several reasons. So yep I shall return in the near future. They definitely have the parking issue down, compared to other large cities. Also the train is easy & convenient if your hotel is outside of the city. read more

Last week i attended my first NBA game. I was so excited especially as a new resident to NC I'm really trying to explore and do EVERYthing. I purchased tickets at the box office for the Hornets game vs the Orlando Magic because TicketMaster really be violating for those fees and the fees for the fees. Anywho I arrived about 45 mins before the game started and found my seat up in section 208. Looking at my seat from the website seems far bit it really isn't that bad. I can actually see the players without looking at the big screen. I hit up the concession stand a few times and I liked that you can order from the tablet screen and pay and just wait for your number to be called. Also when I went back again there was an area you can purchase your beers or soft drinks from thru a link and once you show the guy guarding the beverages you paid he'd would bring you the drinks. The game was hella chill and I'm glad I got to get a feel for arena so when I have to come back here for a concert I know where I should look for seats. read more

Spectrum center is your standard, large scale multi-level events venue. Located in the heart of Uptown, it's the home of the hornets. As a general rule, do not bring regular sized book bags if/when attending a higher security event because you will be turned away. Before entering, there is a security check where they will submit you to a metal scanner and bag check. Once in, you immediately ascend the stairs and head to your seats. My personal preference for seating are in the low 100s or floor. Seating in the upper level is quite high and you're mainly dependent on the TV screens for viewing. There are bathrooms well-spaced out and concession stands throughout the first and second floors. Obviously, this being an event space, the prices for your standard beverages are anything but standard. It's all a part of the price you pay for an experience! I've always encountered extremely nice people when walking around and/or purchasing concessions. I haven't bothered to deal with parking but there is an attached parking garage that will occasionally hike up its pricing depending on the event. read more

Lots to like here, however, avoid upper deck for concerts. The bass especially reverberates so loudly the rest of the music is washed away. We've also sat on the floor and discovered seeing was difficult since the stage is so high. Ideally, the low perimeter seating is the best (or private suites if you know someone), but they're admittedly tough to score. I'm starting to sound like Goldilocks. Some acts demand top dollar, so my advice is do your homework before giving them a whirl. Enjoy! read more

Pretty average for an NBA arena. Pros: Generally cleaner than average and sight lines are good even from upper deck. In and out is super easy compared to most other venues. Cons: concession prices are as high as places like Miami and San Francisco. (I.e. Chick-fil-a sandwich is 4.50 nearby but 9.50 in arena) Men's bathrooms seemed easy to find but a few times I saw women in the Corridor traversing and asking for help to find the nearest. Not a lot of common space to catch other NBA content / games. The Brooklyn : Philly game went down to the wire and while the Hornets were at halftime so a swarm of people were crammed in front of one TV in the Dr. pepper porch area trying to catch the ending. Meh: average variety of food options. Some concession lines are huge while others tiny, seems inefficient. Parking prices nearby that you'd think are just public lots were much higher for the event (typical nationally but excessive for CLT so take the light rail even though only coming every 20 min can make for a snug journey home) read more

This is our big indoor venue in Charlotte. It's the Hornets' arena, but they have a lot of other events too. They have a lot of concerts and other performances. We recently saw Cirque du Soleil here. The security process to get in is pretty straightforward. You have to go through a metal detector, but it doesn't cause a big back up. I've never been super impressed with the food options. I always eat at a local restaurant in the area before I come. It's pretty similar to any other big arena. read more

I was here for a UFC event so this review may be different for other events. It's a small arena in comparison to some other NBA arenas. The bathrooms were on the smaller side and entrance to the arena took a lot longer than it should have. The concessions didn't offer much more than your basic arena food's. read more

If you go to basketball games and concerts in Charlotte, most likely you are here at the Spectrum Center. For games and concerts, it is a really good arena and you can see optimal view wherever you sit at. There are 3 levels in the arena. As with any arena, the lower level and suites levels are the best. Spectrum Center is easily accessible via driving, Uber or light rail. There are numerous garages around Uptown, if you can't find street parking and the light rail lets you off right at the arena. There are tons of food and drink concession stands in the arena, but of course, they are arena pricing. So be prepared to spend a little money. Overall good experience when attending an event here! read more

The Spectrum Center is smack dab in the middle of the city with plenty of parking decks around. I prepaid for a spot in the Wells Fargo one for $11.00. This a huge arena! You will go through a long security check and bags have to be a small size. I came for the John Mayer concert. I had no idea how big the place was when I bought the tickets so I bought some in section 252 Row V. Well, if you are afraid of heights, get dizzy after walking up several steps, and also hate walking down steps with a ton of people watching then Do NOT get those seats. Instead of having 3 floors they only have 2 and make you enter halfway up and make the trudge the whole way up a ton of steps with your food and drinks. The seats are very small and you are basically all over the person you are sitting beside. If you are in the middle of the row you better hold it if you have to go to the bathroom. There are bathrooms located all over and they have a lot of food options inside. There are not any places to sit in eat other than in your own seats. The bathrooms were kinda messy. They have merch sales in the first floor. Sound system was great inside. Prices for drinks are extremely high like at any venue. All in all, I would come back but I would definitely go more money for a lower section. read more

Went to our first event NBA basketball game here! We had an amazing time! Beautiful venue. We purchased last minute tickets way up in the sky but could truly see everything from those seats. Price for 3 tickets via ticketmaster with tax a little over $80. This venue is cash free. Went through a drink line and you scan your credit card and they place a $25.00 hold on your card. They have your purchases you pickup on camera and your credit card will be charged accordingly. Figured it out once the attendant decided to stop her personal conversation to tell us how it worked. read more

I visited the Spectrum Center both days during my last stay in Charlotte--one night for a basketball game and the other a show. The arena is nice and spacious. The seats are very close together. Jumbo screens are in the middle so you can easily see what's going on from any angle. The concessions are expensive, but that's to be expected. We didn't have to worry about parking because we walked from the hotel. But there seemed to be plenty of lots and garages surrounding it. The restrooms are clean. read more

I liked my experience at The Spectrum Center. I came here for a Charlotte Hornets basketball game. Being from out of town, I wasn't sure how popular the hometown Hornets would be, but I had no issues buying a ticket on Stubhub for cheap. Although I chose my seat in the upper deck, it was squarely situated in the center of the arena for which I paid $20. But with taxes, surcharges and maintenance fees, it came to roughly $30. Still, the game was against a good Toronto Raptors team so for this little money....I was more than happy with my seat and location. This Spectrum Center sits right in the heart of downtown Charlotte. To be exact, it's a short ways from Carolina Panther's Bank of America Stadium, Minor League Baseball BB&T Stadium and pleasant Romare Bearden Park overlooking the beautiful downtown Charlotte skyline. Since I had a rental car with me, I found a parking lot not too far away (well within walking distance) from the arena for only $10. For those who care to know, lol...there is public transportation with transit lines. Before entering inside the Spectrum Center, I took a quick stroll around the venue just capturing a couple of photos of the arena. It's pretty modern looking with one of the main entrances embedded with a giant sized Charlotte Hornets emblem logo. I actually entered the complex from here which sat along the corner of Trade Street. Since I arrived early to the game....once I got past security I explored throughout the arena. There was plenty of memorabilia and dedications to past Hornet's greats like Alonzo Mourning and Mugsy Bogues. There was a small enshrinement to prior Hornet's All Stars including Larry Johnson, Glen Rice and Baron Davis. There was even a small dedication posted to Hornet's Chairman...the one and only Michael Jordan. Also interestingly, the franchise for a brief period of time was once called the Charlotte Bobcats, and they even devoted a small space to that era for the team. Funny....one of my best pre - game moments took place right in the main lobby area after I had entered the Spectrum Center. The Hornets Cheerleaders/Dance Team Girls were hanging out and I was able to grab a photo with them. The Hornets girls were quite friendly and happily posed with me and hung out with the fans. One section that I enjoyed passing by was back in the Upper Deck area....they had something called BUZZ CITY. This section (off to the side of the court) down at one end of the basket was a cool spot to grab a drink and food, hang out and talk with other fans....all while watching the game from high above or even catching the action gazing at the scoreboard. It sort of reminded me of being at a baseball game.....like the - Home Run Porch where instead of buying a specific seat to the game, it's just a Standing Only section being involved at the game socially. A couple of disappointing aspects about coming to the Hornets game was that I was looking for a scorecard/game program as a little memento from being here and I couldn't find one at any of the vendors. That was surprising but I've come to notice more and more often that sporting events no longer sell physical programs. They have sort of transitioned to paperless. I guess they're trying to help the environment. Oh well. Also, I'm not sure exactly what they're doing these days with NBA arenas, but when I asked a few ushers to take a photo of me with the basketball court in the background....all my pictures appeared noticeably dark. Even using flash or trying to brighten up the photos was useless. I just don't understand why. Still, I've visited a few NBA arenas in the past few years and the results are all the same.....there's something with the lighting that makes it extremely difficult to grab a pic of yourself with the court and surrounding stands. Borderline impossible. But overall, I enjoyed being at this Hornets game against the Raptors. The crowd for the most part was energized and their support was pretty positive. Best of all the game was exciting and the ending came down to the final moments. Although I was sitting high up in the stands, I was happy just sort of spreading myself out as the upper deck was half full. Finally, I was just visiting Charlotte randomly on short getaway. If I was a resident, I'd be happy to attend more games here at The Spectrum Center. read more

Beautiful and lots of space!! Perfect for a Mary J Blige Concert tonight! Friendly staff! Concession food was not good! All food items were lukewarm. Hot dog was child size and wiener was poor! Lukewarm French fries lessened my hype mood a little. But this Auditorium is beautiful and located in an accessible place to park with ease despite the large number of people attending the concert. The police did an awesome job in controlling the traffic. I will definitely return for further events here at the Spectrum Center. read more
