Drinks are handled independently from food as well. None of it felt intuitive as a first timer, and there was not much in the way of signage or staff guidance to walk me through the flow. I found myself standing around more than once trying to figure out where to go next. Wait times for prepared food became a real issue during the lunch rush. I waited over 25 minutes for a simple hoagie, and I noticed others around me had been waiting even longer. For a convenience store setup, a 20 to 35 minute wait is longer than you would expect. If you are in a hurry or working around a tight schedule, that is worth factoring in before you commit to a hot food order. The store itself is clean and the product selection is solid. Fountain drinks, coffee, pastries, and a full convenience store selection give you enough options to cover most situations.

There were several large coffee stations with tons of different flavors of coffee and creamer. There was also a bakery section where I was able to pick up a packaged croissant that was surprisingly soft, fresh, and delicious. Only drawback was I sat at a table that was pretty gross, so housekeeping could use a boost. Otherwise, good visit!

I just happened to be parked around the corner on Catharine street when I saw Guavaberry's sign & decided to stop in. Immediately when I entered I noticed how clean and meticulously organized the shelves were. There was a wide selection of drinks of every type & the other snacks, toiletries & home essentials were well stocked. From what I noticed, everything is labeled with a price tag which I certainly appreciate. I made my way to the deli counter & a gentleman who appeared to be the owner greeted me and offered to answer any questions. He even walked me through their digital ordering monitor when I obliviously did not realize it was just to my right. I ended up ordering a BLT on rye per his recommendation. As I waited just a few minutes for my sandwich, there were kids playing and running inside and out, seemingly asking their parents for pocket change to get treats. The gentleman and woman behind the counter paid no mind, and even welcomed them inside with a smile. There were also two young children helping out who I presume to be their parents, the owners. One of the children brought me out my bag saying "I think this must be yours, here you go" & I said "Yes it is! Thank you very much. Have a good evening." and the echos of multiple goodbyes from the kids ushered me outside. I tried the sandwich in my car before heading off to my next stop, and was happily surprised. It was a solid BLT. Better than many I've had at other delis & sandwich shops. Everything was very fresh & the sandwich held together well thanks to the parchment wrap. They even threw in a pickle spear, neatly wrapped, which as a self-proclaimed pickle connoisseur I was very please with. All-in-all, Guavaberry is a welcoming, family-oriented, well stocked & organized gem. I'm not in this part of the city often, but when I am, this will be my new go-to.
