They always do vegan food so well here. Monte Cristo was reasonably flavorfully savory. Even though I could tell it wasn't a traditional monte Cristo, I still loved it all the same. It surprises me that this place couldn't keep its second location it is so good. It seems to be a reflection of the respective neighborhood and what people have to spend. I do feel Grindcore is reasonably priced for what you get. I am not vegan but I am a big fan. I am asking myself sometimes if this is really vegan. It's just good food and I wish they could be open longer. I love how they have random night market nights but I always never can make the ones I notice. Check their IG for special food nights, events, and food specials which I tend to go for. My fave so far is when they had a roast beef sandwich and maybe a tie between a banana Creme Brulee(?) latte and cardamom rose latte. Maybe something s-more like with a strong flamey flavor even though I am not usually so campy like that. I didn't know they had a nice seating area in the back. A totally nice place to hang.

I don't take 5 stars lightly, but this place left me with a (grind)CORE memory. I didn't see the sign outside that said "All Vegan" and from the food you wouldn't even be able to tell it was! I got a latte here with non-dairy milk (of course) which didn't cost extra (in this economy??) which was really good. I got the basic sandwich which was tofu on a Philadelphia roll. I'm not sure what sauce or cheese or seasoning they use, but it was amazing! Seriously may call them for the recipe. Everything was super reasonably priced (especially for it being vegan). There are a few high chairs at the front, but wouldn't bring a laptop or sit-down work. They have a bathroom in the back which was small, but clean. The baristas were really nice and very hip. Overall, this place is on the GRIND and it's definitely working for them. Will definitely be going back!

So cool that this spot is entirely vegan with an expansive menu to choose from for food. I am not vegan nor vegetarian BTW! No up-charge for oat milk in my chai latte (sweet) and for food, I went with the "classic" sandwich, which is their vegan spin on a bacon egg & cheese. The muffin it was served on was so good! Interested in trying their other sandwiches.

My sister and I were on the hunt for a good vegan breakfast sandwich, and Grindcore House truly hit the spot. The food was absolutely delicious, clearly made with care and attention, and so flavorful that I could've easily gone for seconds. Their matcha latte was also refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. The ambiance at Grindcore House added to the experience--it has such a cool vibe, with quirky touches throughout, and the bathroom was a fun surprise! Overall, it's the perfect spot for a vegan breakfast, and I'll definitely be back for more.

Really cool fully vegan breakfast jawn! The interior is hip and clean and there is a large back room that's great for working in. Food is amazing and everything on the menu is vegan. I LOVED the Mickey G - maple butter, sausage, chz, tofu, on a soft buttery biscuit. Coffee was great too, homemade vanilla syrup and soy milk for me. Food came fast and service was friendly. Will absolutely be back!

I got the peppermint mocha and a plain bagel with cream cheese. The plain "cream cheese" had the perfect texture, but next time I'll get a flavored one. Prices are the same as your average non-vegan cafe. Friendly people! Spacious seating in the back. Love the rock vibe here. I'll be back to try out more!

Takeout is always ready when I order it. Every breakfast sandwich I've had from here is amazing, The Grizzli is ITTTTTT!! Love that everything is plant based so I don't have to guess what type of cheese or milk is used. Drink customizations is super easy on the online ordering site. This is one of my favorite spots in PHL to come to when I'm in town for work. I got a shirt I love it so much. 100/10 stars if I could.

My sister, boyfriend and I made a pit stop at Grindcore House after having breakfast at The Dutch. It's been my sister's favorite coffee shop while she's been out in Philly, so I took her word for it. Due to the pandemic, all the ordering and paying are done online. Pretty simple and straightforward. Many of the customers pre-ordered, but we easily placed our order on the spot. The turnaround time for drinks to be made was quick. I'm all about the custom coffee drinks and wanted to try something unique to the place. The Swamp Thing totally caught my eye. The drink was an iced Americano with green mint syrup and soy creamer, so there's no way I could miss the bright minty green layer. Over time the top coffee layer mixes in with the mint syrup, which makes the top layer legitimately appear to be this murky green color. It may not sound appealing, but it tasted great. It wasn't overly sweet and had the right touch of mint that was subtle.

Ask the Community - Grindcore House

    Are they still takeout only?

Yes. There are a few sidewalk tables but you can't go inside. Staff come to the door to take orders, or you can order online.

Do they offer donuts? If so, what's days and times are they available?

I believe they have Dottie's donuts daily but a selection of maybe 4?

The appetizer we got was the rutabaga fondue, with pretzel bread and pickled veggies. It was an intriguing dish and the pickled veggies added an interesting tang. For my entree, I got the grilled tofu with kanzuri glaze, okinawa potato, sunchoke miso butter, fancy radishes, and shiso. The presentation was very much on point! For the two of us, our entire meal was around $80. A great experience from start to finish!

It's playful and cool and fun all at the same time. The staff here? Wildly accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable about their menu, and also exceptional at "reading the room" (eg we were given lots of space to just eat and drink without them checking in us needlessly). DRINKS: I had the Zombie Beach Party (coconut rum, light rum, pineapple, blue curacao, lime). It was a neon blue boozy slushy served in a glass skull topped a little pink umbrella and the juxtaposition of that alone is iiiiiiiiiincredible. (Also these are dangerous; I had two and they went down a little too easily, y'know?). FOOD: At our server's recommendation we got a half order of the Korean BBQ Wings (which were described as "very spicy") and the Tiki Wings ("kind of sweet"). Both are made from crispy seitan and are served with a cucumber ranch. I think they were okay, they kind of tasted similar to be honest, and the Korean wings were definitely not that spicy. We also got the Yokai Fries (fries topped with shishito peppers, togarishi, and yum yum sauce); sooooooo moreish! But ask for more yum yum sauce. The absolute killer (pun intended) here was the fried mac and cheese balls. NO MATTER WHAT, GET THESE. It comes in an order of two, they're tennis ball sized, the mac and cheese is not dry but gooey, the tomato sauce and generously sprinkle of parm bring the whole thing together. I'm fairly confident I could have eaten an order by myself (just like I'm fairly confident I could have had four Zombie Beach Parties). You ARE going out of your way to come here if you find yourself in Philly, friends!

The vibe is horror movie chic, if ya know what I mean. We were greeted and seated promptly and immediately checked out the menu to see what we should try. So, we started with the Mac balls and seitan Korean wings. Our apps arrived and I must admit. I enjoyed the seitan wings more than I did the Mac balls. The Korean BBQ (seitan) wings had an amazing sauce that truly made me forget I was at a vegan restaurant. They were crispy, savory, and just delicious. I decided to go with the gyro and my partner went with the cheese steak for his entree. My gyro was yummy! The impossible beef, lettuce and tomato were reminiscent of a regular gyro. I truly couldn't tell the difference. My partner loved his cheese steak too. Monster vegan is a HIT!! Would we try it again? Absolutely!!

My concern wasn't that I wanted more buttercream. It was actually the opposite. I felt the square slice had far too much frosting on top and not nearly enough actual cake, which made the ratio feel unbalanced. The response stated that I "didn't enjoy the ratio (more cake and filling, less buttercream)," but that wasn't what I was trying to say at all. I'm disappointed that my feedback seemed to be misunderstood or misrepresented. I completely understand that ingredient costs have increased, and I genuinely respect PS & Co.'s commitment to using high-quality ingredients. My concern wasn't about the price alone, it was about the value and quality of this particular dessert compared to what I've had from them in the past. More broadly, I hope this isn't part of a larger shift away from some of their trademark desserts. I was also disappointed when the chocolate chip muffin was discontinued, as it was one of my favorites. I still think PS & Co. offers some of the best gluten-free and vegan desserts in the city, which is why I'm sharing this feedback. "Even if you're not vegan, go," she advised. Making a day-of reservation for 9:15pm on a Saturday in June, I walked in and was seated right away by a kind staff member. Within minutes, my glass of water was full and my equally kind server was walking me through the menu. The menu elevates vegetables and they source their ingredients from 16 farms nearby. (Most are in Pennsylvania.) Not overly hungry, I ordered two mid dishes and a dessert. (The menu is organized by small, mid, large, and dessert.) Each dish was masterfully executed and full of flavor. Suzuki Farm Kyuri Cucumbers were perfect. They come out as four large cucumber halves with all the fixings. Don't be shy. It's easier to eat them with your fingers per recommended by my server. The next dish was the Urban Roots Farm Sugar Snap Peas. The crunch of the peas with the wasabina oil complimented each other well. For desert, I ordered the Bomboloni with pistachio cream. The warm texture of the dough and creaminess of the pistachio cream was divine. I ordered another. It may be my favorite dessert I've ever had at any restaurant anywhere. If you love creative and quality food, go here. You won't regret it!

For drinks, we ordered the elderflower shrub and sanguinello to drink. I liked the elderflower shrub since it was sweet and refreshing (slightly carbonated) but the sanguinello tasted bitter and medicinal. Since my bf really didn't like his drink, the server was nice enough to let us change our amaro drink to another elderflower shrub. For food, we ordered sourdough focaccia with tomato xo sauce (similar to chili crisp oil) and the potatoes dish. The sourdough was fluffy and delicious and the xo sauce gave it a nice flavor but it did make the bread greasy. The potatoes dish tasted good because of the creamy sauce that was drizzled on top. We also ordered the kyuri cucumbers and durum ravioli. The kyuri cucumbers had a fermented ramp ranch that gave the cucumbers a nice creaminess and the garnishes (spring onion and giardiniera) gave the cucumbers a nice texture. The durum ravioli had a cheesy taste due to the cultured cashew ricotta but I wasn't a fan. Overall, we would order the potatoes and cucumbers again, maybe we would order the sourdough focaccia (if you don't mind the greasiness), but we wouldn't order the durum ravioli again. For dessert, we ordered the macadamia ice cream with strawberries, shaved ice with rhubarb, and basil. Even though the ice cream was unique, we also wouldn't order it again. The basil flavor was a bit strong and the dessert tasted mostly like macadamia nuts and strawberries rather than ice cream. The ambience was nice though and even though we were not able to get a table, we had a nice view of the chefs' cooking. We would come here again since the menu changes based on what's in season. It was my second time at Pietramala and it was my boyfriend's first time and it won't be our last. :)
