Leaving 2 stars because of an incident that may or may not be the establishment's fault. Now, correlation does not equal causation, but in all my years of banking, I've never had my debit card compromised until the day I came here for a loan. It must have been a skimmer because I still had the card on me. But almost as soon as the deposit was made to my account, someone in Arkansas decided to go to Sam's Club on my dime. Did they know there would be money available because a deposit was made? I can't say for sure. And I can't say for sure that Speedy Cash is responsible, but I also can't take that risk. To date, this is the only time this has ever happened to me. I figure other potential customers should know before coming in and swiping their debit cards for a loan. I live in this neighborhood, and it's exactly what I'd expect to happen here. Outside of this incident, it was business as usual. (ZERO STARS) I went in to apply for an installment loan. I brought everything I needed, a check with my bank info, pay stubs, and a bank statement. They said I make more then enough to qualify. They ran my credit. Came back 617 (which they even showed me on paper). They said that is enough to qualify. Also keep in mind. I'm 24 have never owned a home, just recently bought a new car, and never had any debt, repos, bankruptcy, etc (any red flags). So after hearing you make enough $ from your employer and your credit is ok. I'm thinking alright, great I'm approved :) But NO. After standing there wondering what the hell is taking the lady so long on the computer I see her get her manager. Then her manager tells her to call their IT dept. She calls. Then I am told as I am being given a rejection letter that "they are unsure why Equifax will not approve me" and there is nothing they can do. So I was basically told your more then qualified for this loan, BUT, were just not going to give it to you, you ask why? Well, we don't know. THEY LITERARY HAD NO IDEA WHY I WAS NOT BEING APPROVED!!!!! I get it, some people are approved, and some are not and I'm fine with that, I'm fine with not being approved BUT what pisses me off is that I was unable to get an explanation on WHY I was not approved. They told me maybe you have a block on your credit. So I called Equifax. Everything came up fine. No block, no nothin! So I called Speedy Cash back and what I was told made me laugh at the stupidity! "Well some people with bad credit get approved and some people with good credit don't get approved, its really a gamble on how it works, not sure why it's that way, but that's how it works." They would have had a 5 star rating until today! Customer service has always been great! Zero complaints regarding the staff. My complaint is about the electronic financing! I bought a TV for $650... I was told it would be $150 a month for 6 months. I realize that I had to pay more than the TV was worth- however, today when I call and mention that I have now been paying $150 a month ( auto debit) for EIGHT months ($1185), they told me the loan is for 18 months and I still have a balance of $650!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!!! So basically, I will have paid $2600 for a TV!!! Who in their right mind would do that?!! I trusted their employee was relaying the proper info to me. Apparently, she didn't!
