If you enjoy good Carolina BBQ and friendly service at a good price then this is your place. We came over on a rainy Saturday afternoon, our server Kensley, was very nice and took our order promptly. This is a typical looking Lexington BBQ, but the food was truly one of the better Lexington BBQ places. I ordered a large coarse chopped pork plate with a bun. It comes with coleslaw and hush puppies. The hush puppies were small, but the bit size morsels were well cooked and a little ray of sunshine in the mouth. The slaw was typical of the Lexington style, not my favorite type of slaw, but good none the less. I had a side of sauce that topped off the large portion of pork great, both when it was in the bun or I had to finish it separately and dip it. Just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. My son and I met at Speedy Lohr's BBQ last week for lunch. He had a Brown chopped sandwich at fries.I had a Coarse brown chopped plate. It was delicious.My wife and I was in the area and I pulled in just to see if 2 visits in a row would be as good as last week. Definitely not to be confused because I was hungry last week but today I ordered another Brown Coarse chopped plate again. My sides were potato salad and slaw.. My wife got a chopped plate with fries and slaw. We both got hush puppies instead of rolls. My plate was just as good as last week's and those little round hush puppies that serve was the best part of the meal.My wife enjoyed her plate but had to put it in a box for leftovers tonight.Service was spot on.The BBQ was just amazing. Every bite chunk on my plate had just the right amount of brown and that good smoky taste. We just might have to pay them another visit. I did not get pics since we ordered food to go, but I will say the lady who owns this restaurant is one of the friendliest people I ever met. Restaurant is a cute little diner. We were in Lexington for BBQ fest that had not BBQ (but that's for another review). This place had the highest rating so we tried it. We got chopped bbq plates with potato salad and baked beans for our sides, also 1/2 rack of ribs with same sides. The food was sooooo good and the ribs were fall off the bone tender. What an absolute jewel of a find! My husband and I were in Lexington, North Carolina this last weekend, and happened upon this amazing barbecue place. When we walked in, we were greeted by the sweetest lady I've ever met. She was funny and matched my husband's silliness. She gave us great recommendations while we looked at the menu. We both got a chopped barbecue plate. We're so hungry. We forgot to take a picture before we had eaten half of it. Chopped barbecue, slaw and fries were amazing! To top everything off, we did order the banana pudding. You could definitely tell it was homemade! Probably one of the best things we had was their hush puppies. There are several outstanding bbq places in Lexington and Speedy Lohr's is definitely on the short list. This place is as a traditional bbq joint should be. Unremarkable building. Red checked tablecloths. Friendly waitresses carrying pitchers of iced tea. Ain't nothing fancy here. No craft beer. No wine list. They do offer lots of breakfast options at good prices for you early birds. Pit cooked bbq chicken is available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Ribs can be had on Friday. Non-bbq options include burgers, fried flounder, corn dogs, chicken wings, and salads. If you brought someone who can't find something to eat here, I'd just leave them at home next time. read more

Lexington style pit smoked BBQ. Since I am a life long Californian, not sure what that is exactly, but we liked it. DH had the 1/2 BBQ chicken with hush puppies. His two sides were red slaw and baked beans. He loved it and cleaned his plate. I had the coarse chopped plate with buns. My two sides were okra (deep fried) and baked apples. They were out of both the sweet potato casserole and the green beans. The pork was chunks of smoked meat, a huge portion. The buns were hamburger buns. The okra was very good. The baked apples were slices and seemed canned, unlike the whole baked apples I've had back home. There was so much food on my plate, I filled the 2 buns with smoked pork for our plane trip home tomorrow. Great food at really reasonable prices. I would like to report that nothing's changed. It's a great place to stop off of number 8 on your way to Southmont or High Rock Lake. He ha Place has great barbecue and flounder plates daily. Really great homemade hamburgers and hot dogs cooked to order. Daily home cooking specials, what more could you ask for. Also has homemade cakes. I suggest the pig picking or the Hershey cake. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, they have really good pit cook barbecue chicken. Fridays, and sometimes it rolls over into Saturday they have great smoked ribs, some of the best you'll ever find in this area. I recommend they're hot dip it has a little Zing to it. Regular rib and barbecue dip is awesome. The sides here are tasty. You have bake beans, red and white slaw, and of course, crinkle cut fries and fried okra. Also has banana pudding daily. Nice little ball hush puppies. Also offers barbecue salads and grilled chicken salads. I'm the diners and dives guy that likes the three C's. It has a true smoked flavor and the BBQ sauce on it isn't too tangy or sweet - just perfect. Breakfast is served in large portions as well. I usually get the Fried tenderloin plate with a biscuit, gravy, and eggs. the biscuits are almost the size of your face! Service is so friendly, you seat yourself when you come in and the servers take turns making their rounds around the dining area. Food comes out hot! Sometimes in the summer the flies are bad.. They are bad inside and worst outside.. I hope they can do something a little better with getting them out there or staying outside. Well, they're back in business at this great BBQ joint. The place had been closed for 13 months after a major fire, and finally reopened in late July, and the food is as good as ever. We came down on Sunday because they serve BBQ Chicken on the weekends, and it is excellent. The Chopped BBQ is also great, typically Lexington style, with some nice smokiness. Both the Hush Puppies and the BBQ Slaw are very nice here, though U+I'd pass on the FFs. The service is very good, these are down home, country folks. read more

Speedy's convinced me that i don't distaste vinegar based bbq sauce after all! You can drive up and honk your horn for car-side service or stop in for speedy (no pun intended) service as well! The employees make you feel like family, even if you do only spend 20 minutes in the restaurant -- 5 of which includes inhaling your food! I got the chopped plate (which I would recommend) with baked beans and white slaw, with a side of hush puppies, and wow was I satisfied! The bbq was super moist and the vinegar sauce had amazing flavor, where I didn't feel like I had to drown the pork in additional sauce.
