1 Star I had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience at Spence Chiropractic. I came in with serious back and neck pain, but the therapy machine was only used for about 8 minutes, which is clearly not enough. When I politely asked if I could get a few more minutes, the female staff member became rude and yelled at me instead of addressing my concern professionally. Another woman called Tania then said, "You got the wrong woman today," which was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. As a patient in pain, I should not be spoken to that way. The chiropractor ( Terry Riley D.C) barely adjusted me just a quick touch on my back and then said I was done. I spent more time waiting than actually receiving treatment. There was no care, no listening, and no effort to help my condition. This place made me feel rushed, disrespected, and not taken seriously as a patient. I've been coming to the center for a while and do not have anything but good things to say about the center. Dr. Terry and Dr. Talamantes are wonderful at what they do and great professionals in their field. They listen attentively to what brings me in (and each time it is my stubborn overworked back muscle) and focus their efforts on the area of concern. Every time I leave the office, I am pain free. How this place got 4.5 star reviews is mind boggling This place was such a waste of my time. I called to schedule an appt and I gave them my insurance info over the phone. Day of my appt when I walked in, I asked how long it would take to get seen and the receptionist said not long at all. I waited an hour for them to tell me that I wasn't covered through my insurance, I assured them I was and asked them to double check with my provider. After waiting over an hour I said I would leave and come bk after they figure out my insurance situation. They never called me. I then called them several hours later and they said they were in a meeting and would call me bk. THEY NEVER CALLED ME BK that day. 3 days later the reception calls me to see if I want to schedule an appt, I asked if they figured out my insurance cuz I've been waiting for 3 days and she replied with " I will make a note and call you bk." Guess what?! No one called me back!!! And for the record I also called my insurance company and they picked up within 30 seconds and verified I was covered for chiropractic work. Like who TF is running this place???!!!!! Cuz the front desk and whoever handles insurances are clearly incompetent: Waste of my MF TIME!! read more

Let's be real, you'd only even consider this place if you lived in the apartments above or if referred by an attorney. If your attorney suggests this spot, ask to go somewhere else. This place is a complete joke! Every time I've been scheduled, I've had to wait absurd amounts of time to be seen. They text you incessantly to remind you of your appt time but when you arrive you have to wait for at least 20 minutes to be seen. On Monday, I waited 45 minutes until I went off on the staff! They said they would add me to the "no wait" list(why is there a list for this?!) and told me to come at 12pm Bc that's the best time to be in and out! I drove from La Jolla and was even 2 minutes early(WHILE ON MY LUNCH BREAK) and after 20 minutes of not being seen, I told the front desk girls I was leaving. All they can say is "we understand". Your understanding doesn't mean anything if you can't fix the problem. They have ZERO respect for the patients time. I let my attorney know and will be finding a new chiropractor! Everyone in this office is truly awesome and caring. I was in a car accident a few months ago and went in for follow up evaluation and treatment. I was impressed at the professionalism of all staff and expertise of both Dr. Spence and Dr. Terry. They even had in-house x-rays and discussed and explained exactly what was going on with my spine. The weekly adjustments have made a huge difference to speed up my recovery, and the massage chair therapy prior to each adjustment is heavenly! I plan to continue as a regular after my accident/related treatments are complete, and even consider Dr. Spence as my "primary care physician" because of the focus on maintaining wellness holistically. I showed up at my 10:30am appointment and the chiropractor adjusted me at 11:30! I sit there for an extra hour and because of that I was like late to work...How is this ok?!
