The entire mall is clean, well-maintained, and beautifully landscaped with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The variety of stores is impressive. Some of my favorite stores include Apple, Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Zara, Aritzia, lululemon, Anthropologie, LEGO, Sephora, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, West Elm, J.Crew, Madewell, Free People, Vuori, Alo Yoga, Tory Burch, Coach, and Barnes & Noble. I've been patronizing the businesses at this shopping center for more than a decade. Shops have…read morecome and gone throughout the years and I am amazed that new businesses continue to open up shop here. I see that the Bear Paddle Swim School is under construction, Rock Star Nails recently opened and one of my faves, Barnes & Noble, continues to do well here. For the last year, I visit Village Crossing several times a week. You would be amazed at the amount of cars here before the crack of dawn! I mean, you may be sleeping, but I and other workout fanatics, stockroom workers, cleaners, vampires, are all here before the sun rises.

I've shopped here for nearly 25 years, and it's always had a healthy mix of shops. There are a few…read moremajor retailers: Dick's Sporting Goods, FiveBelow, Barnes & Noble, Michael's, OfficeMax, PetSmart, Jewel, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Ulta Beauty, and an AMC Movie Theaters that's in a weird place around the back. There are also some small boutiques that I love--the Half Price Books is a terrific store where I always get good deals on hard to find books and rare CDs. The food options are good and well-placed, for what is essentially a series of wonkily-positioned strip malls. You won't go hungry at this shopping center. There are a bunch of fast food places clustered in the north-east section of the shopping center (Panda Express, Corner Bakery, and a Penn Station East Coast Subs), a few on the north-west side (Subway, Jersey Mike's), and sit down, stand-alone restaurants that ring the parking lot (Chili's and Outback Steakhouse). Near the AMC Movie Theater, there's a Buffalo Wild Wings, Village Roadhouse, and a Red Robin. I still have nostalgia for the huge CompUSA that used to be here. It's where I bought my first "real" computer--the Bondi Blue iMac in 1998. I also miss the Pier 1 that closed back in early 2000 (the sign is still currently up). If you're taking public transit from the city, catch the Pace 290 from the Howard Station of the Red Line, and it'll drop you across the street from the mall. If you're driving, good luck--this mall has a reputation for the roads and parking lots in front being oddly placed. I think there's also a parking garage for the AMC Movie Theater, too.

(They do all their buying in Europe.) it's definitely higher end, though I have also found some really great things on their sale rack. This is retail at its finest due to the personal attention. The owners are so sweet and very honest. (Plus, they have great taste.) They'll style you and happily bring you things if you'd like. I can always count on them - if something doesn't look good they'll let me know. I've also bought things off of their Instagram and they happily drop it off at my home in one of their gorgeous bags. That's awesome. I always leave with great styles & feeling cheerful. I have several friends who feel the same. .

It's a beautiful warm and humid day in Chicago and the walk was good. The place is very quaint and small but well lit for shopping. It's a woman's boutique specializing in European clothing. The major designer is Solar and I have not heard of it, but designs are suited for a dressier woman. Thankfully that counts me in as I work in an office where jeans are not allowed and it's conservative so the weekends I can go casual. Back to the store the sizes are European and the lady at the counter (I am assuming is the owner) was very kind to tell me that 34 is usually x-small, 36 is small and 38 is medium. I'm usually a medium but some of her clothing allow for a 34 when I tried on a pair of white slacks. It had a great fit, but buying white is difficult because the material may be more revealing than you might like. Her clothes has many price points as she indicated and sales from the previous season is 20% off. Her summer selection drove me to walk in full of blight yellows, pink, and orange. Do stop in if you're in the neighborhood and support local small businesses!
