The Ambience was soft and romantic, lighting was dim, music was at a moderate level, and the restaurant was clean. The service was fantastic. Our waitress checked on us often and explained the dishes with sufficient detail. The food was amazing! This was my first time trying Spinach Dal Curry and Tofu Mutter! I'm a sucker for the spiced tomato sauce and will definitely be ordering this one again. We all enjoyed the naan which was the perfect cut, density and temperature to accompany our entrée! Excited to see new restaurants in Bend that are affordable and offer delicious, authentic cuisine!

Enjoyable! Water: off taste, reminds me of the water from a water gun. I wasn't able to drink the water. Mango lassi: not as sour am I used to but it was yummy. I wish it was served with ice. Raita: I've never liked raita. But I love it here. Fresh, salty creamy Butter chicken: it was as expected, it was great! Tandoori chicken: beautiful color, great flavor, amazing sizzle. We got medium spice, it has a kick, I want to order the hot next time! The flavors were rich and authentic, and the service was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend the butter chicken.

amazing food and service! so many vegan options!! beautiful space as well. everything we got was vegan by default, except the naan which our server was nice enough to let us know it is made with oil and finished with butter, so they could omit that for us to make it vegan. the masala dosa from the spiceland combo was my favorite as well as the spinach daal. everything was amazing though! generous portions and beautiful flavors. really delicious!

Excellent food right in the heart of Bend. Muzi ( the manager) gave us warm welcome and we enjoyed his company while we ate our lunch. The chefs are aunties, who give the home food flavors. Their naan is eggless and made nice and crispy. The samosas are tasty and NOT bland. Equipped with a full bar, this fine dining restaurant is a must stop if in Bend, Oregon!

Don't waste your time, it was awful. I can't speak to the ambience because we had it delivered. We had samosa chaat, which seemed to be missing the samosa. The flavor was decent, but not great. The paneer butter masala was awful! The paneer was brown, the rice cold and clumpy, and the sauce was terrible. No spice, and we ordered it medium, and let a horrid aftertaste. We couldn't get through it. The naan was soggy and burnt...not a great combination. We will stick with our usual...The Real Taste of India!

Butter chicken was the bomb. Chicken pieces were huge except it was a little dry. Customer service was great.

Best Indian food in town. While service is always a bit chaotic, the food rivals Indian cuisine found in any large city.

A Hidden Gem in Bend! If you haven't been to The Crown Curry…read morelately, you might not even recognize the place. The newly renovated interior is stunning--the Southeast Asian-inspired lighting fixtures create a fantastic vibe that feels both upscale and welcoming. The Food: Everything we ordered was spot on. The Goat Curry and Biryani were packed with authentic Indian flavors and cooked to perfection. Definitely don't miss the Samosa Chaat; it's loaded with savory chutneys and yogurt, and the portion is huge--easily enough for a group of 2-4 to share. Drinks & Vibes: We paired our meal with an icy-cold 20 oz Taj Mahal beer and a Lemon Drop that was mixed perfectly. Service & Location: The service here is exceptional. They treated us like family from the moment we walked in, checking on us just the right amount. Plus, it's super convenient with easy parking right out front on SW Century Drive (across from Cascade West). Having lived and traveled throughout Southeast Asia, finding this kind of "Indian jewel" right here in Bend was such a great surprise. Highly recommend!

First visit to The Crown Curry. We arrived late afternoon on a weekday to an empty restaurant,…read morewhich was nice because we could choose our seats and avoid the hated banquets. Menu is by electronic tablet. Navigating the extensive menu is relatively easy. I do wish our server had asked if we were familiar (we weren't) so we could have taken advantage of the selection saving feature. As it was, ordering four entrees involved repeat look-ups because we kept forgetting the numbers of the dishes we wanted. Next time, we'll know to do that. It also would be great if they cleaned the tablet screens a bit more thoroughly. Drinks: they have them and the selection includes a number of interesting specialty cocktails, plus beer and wine. I ordered a rum/pineapple cocktail as well as a dirty martini. The rum one was a bit weak but the martini hit the spot. Food: Four entrees including three vegetarian and one chicken, all ordered medium, which was probably a mistake as medium apparently means mild. Flavors were decent if a bit lacking in body. Service: no issues. Ambiance: also fine but I wasn't as struck by the decor as some other reviewers. Music is too loud. I'd prefer they just turn it off. And as I mentioned, they have banquet seating, something I never want. Who wants to sit facing a wall? All in all, a solid addition to the dining scene.

The past several times I've been, the food quality just is not what it used to be. Not easy to explain but just not great anymore. A Cpl dishes were so salty it was almost shocking on the first bite. The most disappointing thing was that my younger sister visited from Vermont. She's a vegetarian and before she got here. I talked this place up pretty big. Unfortunately, when I took her there, the buffet was in very sad shape. You can tell the food had just been sitting out and wasn't particularly even warm. Looked dry on the edges and just tired looking. When I asked if they were bringing more food out because about 50% of the trays looked like they had about one scoop left in them, one of the guys motion to someone else to start bringing out some more food. I understand not wasting food, but this is at about 1:15 in the afternoon so really not that close to when they would normally clean the lunch buffet up. I don't know. The whole experience was just overall kind of sad. I was really hoping my sister would enjoy it by the less they are feeling like I need to apologize. The service was also pretty much nonexistent. We were barely greeted and sent down to find our own seat. Never offered anything to drink, and when I was walking to the buffet, I asked if someone could come take her drink orders about 10 minutes into a meal. Just didn't seem like anyone cared at all that we were there. I don't know if it's new ownership or management or what. Maybe they need to replace their chef. I hope it comes back to the quality that it once was though because I really want to still love taj!
