They take reservations until 8:30pm on weekdays, so after a very fun and long day of activities in the Bend area, we made an 8:30pm reservation. We were sat at that time. They shut the lights off in the restaurant at 9:20pm. Us and another table took the hint to finish our drinks, get boxes for the remainder of our food and leave. Outrageous. Love the atmosphere. The pictures and table decorations were very interesting and seating was comfortable. Nothing special above and beyond insofar as the service but it was not bad either. I would say, they did their job. My granddaughter and I both got the Khao Soi Curry with Chicken. It was fantastic. Hot, creamy and coconutty with just the right level of spice. The portion was extremely generous making for some excellent leftovers. It had crunchy noodles for texture, soft noodles for chew and it was very saucy, with a decent portion of chicken. If I had to find a negative, by itself, the thinly sliced chicken seemed under seasoned and would have been dry had there not been a good amount of sauce. Unfortunate disappointment. We had been looking forward to this place after several local residents had recommended this spot for dinner. As a major Thai food fan having eaten in Thailand, specifically Chiang Mai several times, I was eager to try the Northern Thai spot. We had spent the whole day hiking and were excited to grub. The only redeeming factor was that there's no wait (which should be a red flag more than anything). We got the vegetarian papaya salad, tom kha, and curry noodles. Service started off great with waters and quick attention. However, the food was beyond disappointing. The papaya salad was artificially sweetened, with some odd sweet syrup poured over the combination of papaya and one sole tomato slice. No citrus or spice could be tasted. The tom kha was also not well made, with it being sweet more than anything and the tofu tasting like it has been cut up and tossed in the soup 1 minute before service. The curry noodles started off strong with a nice spice level with tofu well cooked but then chunks of the curry powder with heavy turmeric were not cooked in so landed heavy in the mouth. The combination of the three dishes as one would expect was disappointing. Dishes seemed to be rushed out of the kitchen before ending service for the night. I think unfortunately the service was the most disappointing. Had they been slightly more understanding I would have not been inclined to leave this review. However, there was instant dismissal of our disappointment with our food with an assumption that we just didn't want to pay for the meal, which was far from the truth. Would definitely not return here and would not recommend this restaurant. I am saddened to hear that this is touted as one of the better Thai restaurants in Bend. If only fellow travelers and the great people of Bend knew. read more

Good Thai food in downtown Bend. Food all showed up about 5 minutes after our order despite ordering multiple items to share family style. The curries were rich and tasty and despite not having a pad thai, they had a wok noodle (on the specials menu) that was great for the kids. I like to keep my reviews positive but honest, and returning to Wild Rose I knew I had to give it a solid 4 stars. We have been in the past and had stellar experiences. Today had some wins and some small misses. Being a weekday, we were seated quickly with no wait at all. The host, our server, and the food runner were all lovely! As always, the decor was great and the vibe was lively. We ordered our favorite soup, the Tom Kha. It's the best version we've found, and is a must every time. For our main we split one of the featured dishes and were unfortunately underwhelmed. It was very salty and one-note, and it was supposed to be topped with a soft boiled egg. The egg on top was very over cooked, with the grey ring that can form around the yolk. A really cool restaurant in the downtown Bend area. This place lived up to the expectations and then some. It was quite busy when we arrived at around 8:15pm on a Monday evening. The kitchen was closing soon, so we ordered quickly. I loved the colorful decor and the space was beautiful. The service was very good and the food came out pretty quickly. The Kow Soi with stewed beef brisket was amazing. Super tender beef the flavors, textures and spice level were perfect. It was creamy and spicy with that ridiculously delicious beef brisket. This was one of the best dishes I've ever had at a Thai restaurant. We also shared the street noodles, which was a much lighter dish with rice noodles. The flavor and textures here were still delicious, but it was nowhere near as impressive as the Kow Soi. I hope this sells you on trying the Kow Soi with the stewed beef. Absolutely wonderful! Yes, there can be a wait. Apparently this used to not be the case as I heard some locals complain but it's clear why it exists. It was a cute place with dried roses hanging and various kitschy Thai decorations scattered throughout. The service was spot on as these people hustled to keep things moving. I was impressed. This may be the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand especially from the northern region, which doesn't seem to be common in the States. By far the curry took the prize. I'm indifferent to this restaurant, there is some good and some not the best. Although I think the dishes are very unique and authentic, I feel like the flavors were more mellow than I was expecting. The ingredients were very fresh which was very noticeable. I think the menu could have some photos on it as well, just to show off some of the dishes. For the service it was a bit lack luster, our server couldn't really give me a good recommendation and was just listing what the differences were between the dishes. She also never checked up on us. We saw her twice... once to order and the last time to pay. Made it impersonable. Something that also threw me was we ordered an appetizer, once that arrived almost immediately our dishes came out. I typically like a restaurant that is a bit more intuitive with the spacing of food. I think on my next trip to Bend I will be skipping, but worth the try for some Thai! read more

Wild rose was once the best Thai in bend, unfortunately it was sold recently and the food quality has suffered. The wings weren't burnt per se but tasted like the sauce was messed up but still used anyway. The main dishes were missing ingredients listed on the menu and the meat quality wasn't as good as before. It's to bad but I wouldn't recommend anymore. read more

Wait time was about 1.5 hours on a Saturday night. It took some time to get a server once seated but was quick after that. We ordered the Khao Gai Tod and the Khao Soi Curry. The Khao Gai Tod was decent at best, the sauce saved the dish but overall meat felt dry and I wouldn't order the dish again. The Khao Soi Curry was delicious, but is definitely a heavy dish so you'd want to share it, or make sure to have a rice dish to supplement. I also got a Thai Sunrise drink which was delicious but did not have much alcohol, more of a refreshing treat. Ambiance is great and interior is pretty. Wow! Honestly that's all I should write. We had the privilege of enjoying dinner here on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed for reasons that became quickly apparent. The wide assortment of northern Thai dishes featuring local proteins was absolutely incredible and vibrant flavors were wildly delectable in every bite. On a recent road trip, we found ourselves in Bend, Oregon and this Thai restaurant. The location is in the downtown bustling area and while we were unable to eat in the restaurant due to lack of space, we did end up ordering takeout which was delicious. The food was special - tasty and well cooked. We had a couple of dishes and family styled among myself and my friends. One item (which I unfortunately cannot seem to remember the name of) featured spicy vermicelli noodles and some cabbage. The dish was not soupy and super unique - I've never had anything like it before! Really enjoyed that dish in particular As a bonus, when we were picking up our take out order, we stumbled upon the annual Christmas tree lighting at the brewery next door. They were celebrating the 30th anniversary of the brewery which we took advantage of through free live music and some Christmas festivities. read more

The flavor was a bit plain so you definitely need the sauce. I personally prefered it with the sauce from the fried chicken dish. Khao Gai Tod - Fried chicken 3/5, chicken was okay. This dish is nothing to write home about. Rice had a great garlic fragrance. The sauce in this dish really made it a lot better. Grandfathers Tom kha soup 5/5. Come back for this forsure! I was visiting family in the area and unfortunately left very disappointed. The food was far too salty overall, and the protein portions were extremely small. The white rice portions were huge in comparison, while the sticky rice came in a tiny plastic bag with a very small portion. The street noodle dish was especially disappointing and it was absolutely doused in soy sauce, making it overwhelmingly salty and unpleasant to eat. I was honestly disgusted by it and could barely enjoy the dish. The chicken wings were also overly salty, which made it difficult to enjoy them. What was even more disappointing was that the server actually admitted that the food was created to suit American tastes and was not authentic Thai food. That explained a lot, because the flavors did not taste like authentic Thai food I've had elsewhere. The price was also far too high for what we received which is about $20 per plate on average. We spent over $120, and it felt like we paid mostly for large portions of white rice rather than a satisfying amount of protein and authentic Thai food. For that price, I expect much better flavor, quality, portions, and authenticity. Unfortunately, this experience was not worth the money at all. I will not be coming back and cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

The khai soi was good but very creamy and the basil noodle was great. I guess it's a hit or miss nightly. We Also got the ice cofeee which is great. Service was great.
