Bend doesn't exactly have a hopping Asian food scene so we were pretty stoked to find Dang's. It's pretty basic inside, a couple of red vinyl booths and a table or two in a smallish space, but cozy enough. So no on the frills but a pretty big yes on the flavor: our Pad Thai w tofu was a perfect mix of nicely cooked noodles, and tofu that melted in your mouth on a pretty big plate. Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mih was also excellent, flavorful chunks of tender chicken and a nice coleslaw, though bread was a bit less than fresh. Still, a lot of good real-deal flavors, and the guy serving us was genuine, funny and supremely calm even though it looked like was running the joint all by himself. read more

This place has great Vietnamese food! We ordered the crispy egg rolls which were amazing. Very crunchy and delicious. We also got the chicken gyoza which was good. Then we god the combination pho and the brisket and meatball pho. Both were very good. The brisket was super tender and I loved the meatballs. My friend got the Vietnamese chicken curry which she said was the best she ever had. It came with sticky rice. The service was fast and friendly. Our Family loves Dang's! From the cozy interior, kind staff, and delicious food, Dang's provides the perfect environment for any meal. Every time we visit, the staff is attentive and quick with service. The kitchen always brings out two year old special little treats and he loves the extra attention. I usually don't buy pho at restaurants because I can make it at home. Unfortunately, Bend is a small enough town that I don't have immediate access to most of the ingredients I need to make it. In comes Dang's Vietnamese Restaurant. They are as authentic Vietnamese as it gets. I ate here twice in three days and it definitely hit the spot. I had pho both times and my wife had the vermicelli noodle dish (Bun Dac Biet). We ordered to-go both times. They did a great job separating the broth from the noodles, veggies, and meats. We even got a packet of sriracha and hoisin sauce along with basil, lime, jalapeños, and bean sprouts. The service was quick. We got there and our food was already waiting tor us. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by our experience and will definitely be coming back for more. Sorry, no pictures this time. read more

Yo man. I love Dangs. Always have and always will. But this picture is a $19 meal without tip. This used to be $12.95 and that was okay (before that $11.95. Before that $8.95). But I can't justify it anymore guys... that's robbery. Also, the fact you can get an upgraded lunch bento from Okawa just across the parking lot for $15 at most is a steal in comparison. I have been coming to dangs since I was literally like 5 and I come very often and today was not it. Service and food is always really good but today it wasn't. I brought my mom and my little sister and I had ordered a smoothie for my little sister and it didn't come until we were packing up our meals to go. Halfway through the meal we had told the waiter hey we haven't gotten our drink yet and he said okay and walked away to take other people's orders. We told him we didn't need it anymore and he said he had to give it to us which is understandable. We also didn't get silverware until we asked for it. For my little sisters meal as well we also always order a side of broth which is normally a small bowl that costs about $4 but this time when we asked for a side of broth we were brought a HUGE bowl of broth and were changed almost $11 for it. Old waiter was way better, always chill, super fast and my glass of water was never empty with him he was always constantly filling it up and checking in with us. read more

All of the items ordered (wings, seafood pho, crispy egg rolls) were of poor quality and taste. 3 out of 10. It probably didn't help that wea had recently returned from a trip to San Jose which has a rich variety of Vietnamese restaurant that are 100% more authentic and better in food quality and preparation than Dang's. One of two Vietnamese restaurants in town, Dang's has very different ambiance from Pho Viet being a more crowded (pre-COVID) diner-like experience and Dang's being quite a bit more sterile and stark inside. I like PV better for that but maybe not with COVID still raging. It's good to have two choices in town. Take-out order (they also deliver with Door Dash): P-8: beef stew (pho bo kho) with rice noodles, packaged separately with a take-out order. Mildly flavorful with large chunks of tender beef, and even bigger cuts of carrot. Could be spicier and there were a couple gristly pieces of beef. I do not like biting into gristle. P-10: Vegetarian pho (pho chay). The vegetarian in the house declared this pho to be "good". You get a ton of veggies, packaged separately with a take-out order. D-6: Vietnamese chicken curry (com ca-ri ga). Nice flavor with a heart attack inducing broth. As with the beef stew, the meat chunks were cut large but were tender enough to easily manage. V-10: Yakisoba noodles with tofu (a Japanese dish). A bit dry but not too bad, especially since I like this style of noodle. Soy sauce helped with the dryness. A-2: Vegetarian salad rolls (goi cuon chay). Also known as summer rolls, these are a go-to for us at Vietnamese places. Dang's are very tightly wrapped cylinders unlike any I've seen before. And they're a little slim on the goods. Although I did take-out, I noticed good COVID protocols inside with table spacing and such. Prices are reasonable for these times, I suppose. In reading Michele R's review from seven years ago (first to review), the salad rolls, for instance, have increased in price from $4.00 to $6.95, and the Banh Xeo from $9.50 to $14.95. However - except for the salad rolls - portions are large and I like how with a multiple item order, each container is labeled. So, for example, you know how to assemble P-10. For those doing Keto you can order any of the rice platters/entrée and you can ask to have more veggies instead of the rice in your entrée. I was so glad that they could do this because I didn't want to pay a $20 entree only to eat 2/3 of it. I had their V-3 and it tasted fresh and wodnerful. I've had their pho soup twice before and I had better at the other Vietnamese Place- Viet Pho. But still good. Viet Pho's soups are just the best in all Pho I've tried in Pacific Northwest. I've lived in the Bay Area so I had a had a good portion of different Phos and Viet Pho's are just the best of them. I was pleasantly surprised that Dang's pho is pretty good. Due to the cold weather, I decided to only try their pho and fried egg rolls. Their pho comes with a smaller portion of noodle than what I'm used to but a good portion of meat that paired with each bite of noodle. The broth is on point. Eggrolls, however, I'd pass. I liked it the first time but I noticed it had shitake mushrooms in it last and it had a stronger flavor. The first time I had it, the eggroll filling was better. Their fish sauce dipping concoction is a little stronger and saltier than I like. Yes, you're Bend so expect to pay a few dollars more for Vietnamese food. Having a local Pho place is always on the top of my list when i move somewhere and it's easy to say that I've found it! Dangs has an amazing Bun Bo Hue that was better than any of the others i've tried in town. Not too spicy, but super flavorful broth, it was so comforting. The service was fast and efficient without being pushy, and they had the classic vietnamese restaurant vibe inside that always makes me feel at home. Authentic. Gah. I've worked so hard to avoid using that word for a multitude of reasons. Sadly I cannot evade it in this review. I want to start by acknowledging Bend is a food desert. It is so challenging to find the culturally diverse offerings we have in great abundance here in SF there in Bend. This establishment DOES NOT USE MSG which I appreciate so much. Sadly, the pho broth was off. It was spice forward and lacked the bone depth and richness beef pho is known for. I literally felt like I was eating chai tea with meat because the spices were the dominant flavor. The egg rolls were ok. I'm glad this restaurant exists and that they offer food without MSG. Hopefully the food will have less of a western taste and more of the rich beautiful authenticity they are capable of offering. The service was strange. I didn't care for the long waits and distracted unnecessary interactions. Even handed criticism for more than one visit. I do not recommend. read more

I rarely order take out but I needed something in a pinch for my son and I. I figured pho would travel fairly well. Well I was wrong and the pho wasn't great to begin with. The pho base was bland and didn't have those deep developed flavors that you get from great pho. The chicken was really really really over cooked. It's was so dry that we took it all out and tossed it. The noodles were ok. The best thing was the one item that I didn't think would travel well; egg rolls. My family was on a road trip in Norcal/Oregon and were desperate for Asian food. We found Dang's on Yelp and visited with cautious optimism, but were certainly not disappointed! I had a good feeling when I first walked in - the restaurant is run by a Vietnamese gentlemen and the vast majority of the patrons were Vietnamese as well. The food itself was great; we tried a wide variety of items, ranging from pho to spring rolls to salads, and they were on par with some of the food I've had in SoCal. Some people comment in the reviews about the service - I can see how it can be perceived as "rude" (i.e. we were not greeted when we first walked in and stood around waiting for a good 5-10 minutes), but the staff are absolutely lovely once you give them a chance. The Pho at Dang's has the great broth you expect and need when you're craving pho. I've ordered 3-4 times here and have never been disappointed. So thankful to have this spot in Bend for reliable, quality bowls of pho. V1. Special Combination Vermicelli is an easy 9 out of 10. Plenty of food - Great for sharing. I get this when I'm starving. I always have to get this plate cause it's a perfect balance of fresh ingredients, grilled meats, a crispy egg roll, and large bottom filled with rice noodles and fish sauce dipping sauce which complements everything here... ALWAYS DELICIOUS! Only reason it's a 9/10 is I always want more egg roll when I'm eating this plate cause the crispiness is so good with everything else on the plate. Also always order the salad rolls (rice paper rolls with shrimp, lettuce and rice noodles inside) and I appreciate that they pack it tightly for delivery so they don't come hardened as these rolls do when they're not fresh or packed properly. Tip: If you have any leftover rolls the next day, shallow fry these up in a pan!
