The owner is super friendly and kind. While we were there, several customers came in and you could tell they were regulars by the way they greeted each other warmly. It's definitely a good sign when the locals love the food. My daughters both wanted the chicken shwarma items, but we added the beef donair after reading something on the wall about the Halifax donair being a Canadian thing. Did I mention we were tourists? The chicken shwarma dishes were delicious and flavorful. The salad that came with the plate had a light dressing, and for me, it had a unique slightly-sweet taste. The fries were perfectly fried, and the hummus and pickles finished out the plate. The beef was also delicious. I preferred the chicken but my daughter preferred the beef. Like the salad, the rice had a slightly sweet hint to it - I've never tasted something like this and enjoyed its unique subtle taste. All the flavors of the dishes came together beautifully. The reservation was for 6 adults and 2 children. When the 4 of us showed up at the Lodge, they wanted to charge us $75 each for a Day Pass in order to get in. We explained that we had no intention to use any other facility, only came to have dinner in the Restaurant and that my daughter's family were guests there, but they insisted we could not enter without paying for the passes. I wish Yelp had told us that in order to eat there, you have to be a registered guest, or pay an extra $75 each. Very disappointing, so we cancelled the dinner reservation and went elsewhere.
