Cute spot! Very busy on a weekday morning. I was impressed with their selection of vegan pastries! My favorite was the lemon poppyseed muffin -- full of flavor and moist. The coffee cake muffin and cinnamon bun were also good. My iced matcha latte left a lot to be desired. It didn't have a very pronounced matcha flavor, just kind of chalky. It is not sweetened at all, so if that's your thing, be sure to ask for it. read more

Great little coffee shop in Edgewood, just east of Pittsburgh. Some parking available out front. Fairly small interior space with limited seating. They have a nice variety of coffee drinks, along with a daily selection of baked goods from different local bakeries/restaurants. Also had soups and sandwiches available for grab and go. I had a cortado and a lemon poppy scone, both excellent. I'd also note that they had a space set up where they had information available related to community resources and some local community groups. Very evident that they care about their neighbors and the community at large. Ignore the reviews from random out of towners who have a political axe to grind and have never been to Pittsburgh or visited this business. Spigolo is a small, super cute cafe in Edgewood with only a few parking spots in the lot, but plenty of free street parking. Seating inside is limited, but there are several outdoor tables that are great in nice weather. I went in the summer when a DJ was playing chill music, which made the vibe really relaxing. I usually order the matcha latte. Their syrups lean adventurous, and the strawberry brown sugar basil is my favorite since it hits a nice balance of sweet and earthy. They also have some premade sandwiches and burritos in the fridge if you need a quick snack. read more

Amazing little cafe for drinks and a wide delicious variety of food and pastries from local spots around Pittsburgh! The homemade syrups are the real standout with fun specials too! The fig brown sugar and sage syrup was so unique and delicious, all of them sounded amazing though! It's a small cafe with outdoor seating and waiting area, definitely crowded on the weekends so be ready to wait for a bit. They also have pastries from Pigeons Bagel and sandwiches from Pittsburgh Sandwich Society, which the sausage egg and cheese sandwich was absolutely amazing, one of the best I've ever had. I stopped into Spigolo over the weekend after hearing all the hype about it. Personally, I did not feel it lived up to the hype. The parking situation is a nightmare. There are very few spots in their lot, so be prepared to pay for street parking. I ordered a large iced coffee with caramel and two bacon egg and cheese sandwiches to go. The coffee was burnt, and the caramel did not mask the flavor. This was really disappointing. I should have checked my bag before I left, but I didn't think two of the same item would be messed up so badly. I opened the wrappers to find one sandwich with sausage and no bacon and the other with sausage and bacon but smothered with ketchup. The food is quite expensive for the portion sizes, so I was really disappointed to see that no care was put into order accuracy. I probably won't be back unless someone feels really strongly about going. The quality does not match the price. Seating is also pretty limited, so it's not the best place to sit and work. The outdoor seating area is cute, but you likely won't be able to get a table if you go on a weekend. read more

This was my 1st visit here. The staff was above and beyond kind. They all were interacting with customers, holding the door open for people coming in, giving recommendations, etc. I did come on a Saturday and it was busy - there was a line of about 4 people ahead of me but they were moving super quickly and keeping up with it well. There were no spots in the parking lot to park but I was able to find street parking. I didn't try any of the pastry or food items but I did notice they had vegan-friendly pastries which I love to see! It is pretty tight inside and I wasn't sure where to stand to wait for my drink but it was worth it. The fig / brown sugar / sage latte was an incredible flavor combination. I believe it might have been a seasonal flavor. The spot is super cute. Love a good latte art as well! read more

This is such an adorable gem in the Edgewood neighborhood! I stopped on a Saturday morning when a local scone bakery had a popup going on outside. The space inside is tight but their patio area is adorable and they have a window to provide orders to customers out there. My cold brew was great and so reasonably priced. They also sell burritos, which a lot of people seemed to be ordering, and a large variety of baked goods and treats from other local bakeries. I'll definitely be back. read more

I tend to not review coffee shops unless they stand out, because it's generally standard fare: you get a cup of joe and skedaddle. If you're a prima donna maybe you enhance the caffeine and water with a syrup and some dairy. An ideal shop should get you in and out. Coffee is, at root, a utilitarian enterprise. A good coffee shop is where efficiency meets delicacy; my least favorite kind of coffee shop is where the efficiency and delicacy are secondary to the space being a yuppie lounge. Actually the worst kind of coffee shop embraces the lounge model at the expense of the efficiency-delicacy ratio while also blocking the outlets because that's just the laziest sort of greed. Spigolo does none of those bad things. It's minimalist, the music is varied and great, and it provides an outdoor social space that is perfectly basic. They get quality pre-made sandwiches and pastries from other local businesses, and occasionally have a local food vendor hawking plates outside. They move the line along quicker than one would expect given the length of the line whenever I go, while being naturally amiable and acommodating. I'm not sure what part of town this is. I only started coming because I have what the kids call a "situationship" with a lass who lives nearby. This is kind of a no man's land type of area, and I swear depending on who you ask anywhere around here is 4 different places depending on how racist or aspirational the person is. Is it Swissvale? Is it Regent Square? Is it Edgewood? Is it Wilkinsburg? Who knows. But I do know there isn't a comparable source of coffee within a mile in any direction. Bonus: the shop is a trauma survivor. I overheard the barista talking to a customer about a car driving clean through the storefront right before it opened. Built-in character! My kind of place. read more

I just moved back to Pittsburgh after over a decade in central Texas, and honestly, a lot has changed for the better. Case in point: Spigolo in Swissvale. It's dangerously close to where I'm living now (i.e., walking distance), and there's just enough parking to tempt me to +Add Stop to my Apple Maps route when I'm coming or going. The atmosphere is IG cute and casual. The service is kind and attentive without being extra--so, exactly my kind of place. Pastries? Deliciouso. And I was pleasantly surprised to find vegetarian options in the lunch cooler and scored a chickpea wrap on my very first visit. Don't panic though--there's plenty of meat in there for you omnivores. It's not that kind of coffee shop. Strong neighborhood energy, and a welcome reminder that Pittsburgh keeps evolving in all the right ways. read more

This quaint coffee shop was worth a bit of a drive. The shop itself is small but cute, though parking and seating is very limited. We visited on a weekend so there was a long line to order, but our drinks were made quickly. The people working there seemed sweet, and they had a variety of pastries and drink options including chai and hot chocolate for non coffee-drinkers. I believe they had a selection of different teas as well. I got the vanilla iced latte (half-sweet) and it was perfect! Smooth and not bitter at all. Really enjoyed my visit to this cozy coffeeshop in Edgewood. Grateful that there's parking! As far as my order, I got a small matcha latte. Now, by small, they mean small, but it was intense. The lady behind the counter was actually whisking fresh matcha for my drink. (When she poured the milk over it, it made the prettiest shape, and I am sad I didn't take a picture of it!) So even though it was a little, it wasn't something I needed to gulp in one sitting. It's a sip and savor coffee. The ginger cookie was huge - sweet and spicy, perfect fall snack.
