I stopped by here two Sundays ago with my family for our morning coffee. Every weekend we try to hit up a new local coffee shop and on this morning it happened to be Delanie's Coffee in Shadyside. I honestly have not been in the area much lately and was surprised to see its prime location on South Highland in that East Liberty, Shadyside and Friendship corridor. The inside of the shop was packed by the time we got inside so I did not get to see much of it other than the coffee bar and the large selection of baked goods. For my coffee this morning I went with a butter beer cold brew while my wife went with an iced Almond Joy latte. The menu described mine as cold brew with butterscotch syrup and cheesecake sweet cream. My wife's was described as just like the candy bar with dark chocolate and coconut topped with coconut flakes. My coffee actually ended up tasting pretty good. The butterscotch tasted somewhat similar to caramel but the cold brew was definitely the star. It was rich and strong which I always appreciate. The cheesecake sweet cream was also a nice addition as it was sweet like you would expect but also had a bit of tartness that reminded me of actual cheesecake. My wife also enjoyed her coffee and especially liked the combination of chocolate, coconut and coffee flavors. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed our drinks and I would definitely be interested in trying some of the pastries next time. read more

This place is such a great coffee shop for catching up with friends or just getting some work done! I came here on a Sunday morning around 10 o'clock, and I had no trouble finding a table. I enjoyed an oat latte with quiche, and my friend had a honey oat latte with a chocolate croissant. Both the drinks and food were great, no frills. While it was not that busy when I first arrived, it quickly filled up and was super busy by the time I left around 11:30. Wow what a GEM this shop is! The location is great - very central with plenty of street parking out front. They have their staple coffee beverages as well as seasonal flavors. I absolutely loved the drinks I tried - they had a ton of flavor and weren't too sweet. The service was quick and friendly. Loved this cafe so much! Lots of students come here to study, work, or just chat, plus it's got great options! The seasonal Black Sesame Hojicha was so good, loved the nutty flavor that wasn't crazy sweet! The pastries also look good, but the BEC with the chive English muffin is a must try, esp with the pickled onions. Love that they get pastries from 350 degree, and they're one of the only coffee shops in the area that are open later, making them super popular. Cookie Butter Latte, that's all I got to say. Just kidding, but really the cookie butter latte is amazing. This latte tasted exactly like a freshly baked cookie if you put it through a juicer. It was sweet, cinnamon-y, and just so decadent. I normally don't enjoy hot drinks that much but I would 100% get this again. I also got a House Favorite and LOVED that this drink came with coffee ice cubes. The drink stayed the same flavor the ENTIRE time I was drinking and kept getting better as the coffee melted. read more

Delanie's was highly recommended and I'm glad we walked to this location after lunch at Kyuramen. Nestled in a corner with outdoor and indoor seating, Delanie's served up a great cup of coffee. We got the tiramisu latte ( oatmilk, half decaf) and an iced americano. Tiramisu latte, even when the cheesecake cold foam was amazing! Coffee to milk to sugar ratio was great and balanced. It still tasted like coffee and surprisingly wasn't overly sweet. Our Americano was strong and robust. Service was friendly. Vibe inside is casual and quiet, with spread out chairs and students on their laptops. Interior is open and clean. Would highly recommend! read more

The Delanie's Southside location is a Pittsburgh stable, so of course I had to try their new location in shadyside. They have the same delicious breakfast hand pies which are a 10/10 and the coffee was very good. It's a great place to get some work done for a few hours or meet a friend for a good cup of coffee. If I lived here, I'd come work at this cafe. I ordered my espresso shots over ice to sit on the patio seat between workout and tourist walking. The inside tables were full of remote workers and students. The drink and bakery options are minimalist but great in quality. We were staying in Shadyside and wanted something for breakfast. We did a take out for their bacon egg muffins, and mushroom bacon egg muffins. We also got a corn pie. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get their coffee because we had some coffee at our rental, but the muffins and corn pie were very good! The muffins came with onion relish which went very nicely with the muffins. The service was friendly, and hopefully we can come back here again next time we are in Pittsburgh. read more

I'm so excited Delanies opened a location in Shadyside! I've heard great things about the Southside location but unfortunately I hadn't tried it myself. I LOVE a good coffee so I was excited this was opening so close to me! The spot is cute and modern, with lots of small seating! I got the tiramisu latte and asked for a little less sweetener in my coffee itself. This hands down was the BEST latte I've had in soooo long. It's was truly amazing. The foam was sweet and creamy and just absolutely delicious. I instantly regretted not getting the larger size (I finished my drink in less than 5 minutes)! The staff was so kind and are accommodating to your coffee preferences (more/less sweetener, etc) and so sweet to talk to! I can't wait to come back and get another specialty latte!! PS- my friend got a breakfast sandwich (egg and cheese on Thomas muffin) and it looked UNREAL! The bread looked so fluffy and fresh. I will be trying that next! read more

This is a great place to grab some coffee and do some homework! All of the tables were taken when I arrived, but I was luckily able to grab a table as someone was leaving! I recommend arriving earlier than 4pm if you want a table, as most people will be in the cafe for an hour or so doing homework or other activities. While I didn't take a photo of the actual coffee, the peppermint mocha was probably the most authentic peppermint-tasting coffee I've ever had. The cup had a cute inspirational quote and I'll be coming back to try some of their other specialty coffees. read more

The café is cute and I absolutely love how many choices of flavors they have, especially since you can tell that they are not artificial. However, I've stopped visiting because anytime you add flavor to any beverage it ends up so sweet it's undrinkable. It's like being served a milkshake, whether it's matcha or coffee. I have used every combination of words in the English language I can possibly think of to ask them to please stop doing this to my drinks and every time the drink is sweeter than the time before. If I'm paying eight dollars for a matcha, I really want to be able to drink it. read more
