I stopped by here this past Sunday with my family for our morning coffee. Every weekend we try to hit up a new local coffee shop and on this morning it happened to be 61B Cafe. This coffee shop is located right on South Braddock Avenue in Regent Square and has both an outdoor ordering window and an indoor space. Since my wife and kids were waiting in the car and the sign said the window was served first, I decided to go that route. Because of that, there is not much more to say about the space itself other than I ordered from the sidewalk through a window. For my coffee I went with a large blueberry latte which I had seen recommended on Yelp. My wife went with an iced brown sugar cinnamon latte. Both drinks were ready within a couple of minutes and I was quickly on my way. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our coffees. The coffee itself was strong, bold and present. The syrups were flavorful and well balanced so they came through more on the finish and lingered nicely. They were not overly sweet and added a nice layer of flavor. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our coffees, so it is an easy return for us. read more

I stopped by 61B Cafe in Regent Square recently with my daughter to grab a quick coffee and see what all the fuss was about. It is right on Braddock Avenue. It has a really nice neighborhood vibe that makes you want to hang out. As for the menu, they focus heavily on coffee and tea, they have an extensive loose-leaf tea selections. I ordered one of their fresh juices because I am always looking for something healthy without processed junk. They also have lots of cookies and pastries like homemade scones and biscotti for my sweet tooth. Verdict: This is a charming small local spot with a great community feel. If you are in the East End and want a fresh juice or a solid cup of coffee, give it a try. read more

We stopped in for a quick bite and a drink in-between errands (around 4PM), and overall we liked 61B. Our barista was friendly, and our order came out relatively quickly considering we both ordered blended beverages. They were out of a few fruit options for smoothies by that point in the day, but we were still semi-pleased with the alternatives. The star of the show was the chocolate chunk cookie. It was fresh, soft, and all-around delicious. The smoothie was well-blended and not too sweet, and the blended iced latte was very refreshing. 61B is a cute spot, and we'll be back! read more

One of my favourite cafes around Pittsburgh! I have found this place to be the only place in Pittsburgh that has the best blueberry lattes! You have an option from ordering at the outside window or inside where it's nice and cool during the summer and they have a bunch of seating areas! Such a cozy spot! This review has been shortened: A person insisting you are being rude while being rude to you is a bit of a stand off, except that she was furious, and I was only defensive, and so she wins points for magnitude of emotion. She immediately spoke very poorly of me to the next patron, gesticulating wildly, so that I not only was mercilessly attacked but then also publicly shamed. It was not only her fury, but the scale of it. All hell broke loose, going from zero to 100 in a flash. A patron shouldn't be made to feel despised by an emotionally disregulated barista throwing a tantrum, no brake pedal available to them, unstoppable. I felt as I had stepped unbeknownst to me into someone else's story that had little or nothing to do with me. The rest of the staff have all been super nice, chatty, friendly, real. For a first time here I think it went o.k. I had the iced cappuccino and a blueberry scone. Both were not bad at all. There was no one in the place hardly except for one old lady and me. If I was in Regent Square again I might return to try the smoothies. It is cool that they have smoothies. The older lady that works there is very slow... If there are more than 2 people in front of you, it will be a 30 minute wait. She also ignores the "people Outside get waited on first" sign. So if there is a line from the outdoor window and you want to get served quicker, you can cut everyone and go inside. Kinda sucks, but she's the person that doesn't follow that rule they made. read more

Been a loyal neighborhood customer. I used to buy food there and give it to the local homeless. Was even able to look past the owners consistent snapping at his wife. Brought some outside food in today, which I shouldn't have done. But the owner came up to me and said I've been answering this question for 30 years and kicked me out. I've been stopping in during the last couple years to get some work done. There is always seating available and plenty of outlets. I love their chicken salad croissants, and often just get a cold brew or an iced tea, both of which taste fine. I've had no problems with service; employees are typically friendly and patient. My only dislike are the flies during the warmer months. Since the take-out window is open, flies come in and will bother you relentlessly. Regardless, I still prefer stopping into 61B Cafe during the summer since the AC is on, whereas the other local coffee spots will let you roast. Also, the internet can be painfully slow at times, so I end up using my "hot spot" connection. Overall, I'm thankful for 61B and enjoy stopping in for a coffee and getting my work done in peace. read more

When I run out of coffee at home this is has become my go to place to grab a caffeinated beverage before I start work. There coffee is affordable and their service is always great! Everyone I interact is super friendly and kind. They're treats always look so good! COVID SAFETY they are taking COVID seriously and enforcing safety measures. This is a nice little coffee shop in Regent Square to stop into. The coffee is and their cookies are really good. Everything in freshly baked. There isn't much seating inside and there isn't any outdoor seating. Most of the people that come here use the outside window to order coffee since it's quicker. Been here a few times to do work. I usually get the fresh pear juice because it's not something you can get just anywhere and it's always so refreshing. Highly recommend it. The tables here are small, so they are great for doing work (lots of outlets along the side wall) or for catching up one on one with a friend. When I still lived in Regent Square I was absolutely a regular here. They have a nice selection of tea and coffee and of course yummy little pastries to go along with it. It gets pretty busy but the staff are efficient and get customers in and out with ease. They make a mean hot chocolate too. read more

I have never encountered a more miserable human than I did just now. I have never written a review in my life but I was so shocked at how horrible this employee was. We ordered inside, which was our first mistake since most of the signs said they serve you first if you l order outside but we haven't been here for awhile and wanted to look at the menu. I wanted a smoothie and when I didn't order in 2.5 seconds, she waived her hand in a motion like "hurry up". I thought i was seeing things but my husband looked at me like "did that just happen?!" We were the only people there- indoor and outdoor. I work in the hospitality industry- I get it- people suck sometimes but you absolutely cannot treat people this rude and think they're going to come back. This sweet little coffee shop it's perfectly nestled in the quaint neighborhood of Regent Square. It features a walk up window which feels so safe during these dark days. I ordered a 20oz latte with oat milk and the flavor was perfect. I was surprised it only comes with 2 shots as that size usually comes with 3 (in my experience) but I didn't mind it. I don't need that much caffeine. I also ordered a chocolate croissant which was delish. The barista, Lil, was REALLY sweet and very helpful. She makes a great latte. Major kudos. read more

I feel the need to update my review because we are here every weekend now. I still would not order the chai but they have quite an extensive menu of flavored teas which I choose from. They also have amazing scones and muffins made right onsite. It is louder on the weekends than weekdays but that is because its more heavily populated then. Great place to bring kiddos as we bring our 2 year old all the time. Baristas remember who you are which I really enjoy. Needless to say we will be back. read more

Not sure if they're transitioning inside soon, but all summer they were taking orders from the street side window though you could still order for here and go and sit inside. I purchased a slice of apple pie and found rings of green mold everywhere after I had already taken a bite! It's was absolutely disgusting. I really hope I don't get sick, especially since I'm pregnant. I told the cashier and she said "Oh, I'm sorry. I'll tell the owner," and took the pie slice back. After an awkward pause, I asked, "So, can I get a refund???" I was surprised that I had to ask for a refund for selling me moldy food! Another guest came up to me and asked, "Did they well you moldy food?" I told him "yes" and showed him the picture. He gasped and said, "Call your doctor. Maybe it's no so much worse than eating blue cheese." I was like, "I'm pregnant! I can't eat blue cheese!" I can't stop thinking about what will happen to the baby and will definitely be calling my doctor. Really enjoying 61B so far. The renovation is a stunning improvement. The staff have been friendly when I've visited. I was surprised to learn that they make nearly all their pastries in house, they are really tasty. Apparently they will be adding more seating on the lower level which is even better. I absolutely couldn't stand Katerbean and 61B is just about a 1000x improvement over what was there before. They even had good music playing inside! As a freelancer I'm always looking for good local places to get some work done; if I'm going to spend a zillion dollars on coffees while partaking in free wifi it may as well be at a nice local shop! So far I've gotten an iced latte and an iced coffee. The iced coffee I didn't love; it seemed thin and watery as if they did not brew it double strength, but that could have been a fluke. I've also gotten a few pastries...a croissant, a macaroon, and a cookie that were all very good and the prices were actually very reasonable. Only issues...cash only. I really hope this is temporary since there is no free ATM in that area for me. Also I always prefer to see baristas in some kind of uniform or dress code for food safety reasons. One woman working was wearing a tank top, which I was under the impression that those were against health department rules; I've never been permitted to wear sleeveless tops at any food service job I've had. But these are relatively minor issues, so soon enough I'll be a regular here. read more

I hate to say it, but this place disappointed across the board for both me and friends of mine. This is not a fair review, but directed at one barista in particular. I went here last night and met with a wonderful and friendly gentleman who was lovely. He alerted us when there was 30 min before close and we were all out of there by 5 till. The girl tonight was the complete opposite. She was fine enough, but you could tell from the moment I walked in, at 8pm (1hr before close) she was short with me, didn't want me there, alerted us all when it was 45 min till close. Then again 30 min till close. Then 15. Then 8. Listen, that's excessive. Then she had the balls to shout at me "have a good night!" To rub it in.
