My daughter and a friend have been talking aBour this place for a few years. With my adamant…read morestance of "no pets!!!" the last three years, I hadn't stepped foot in this place because, well, I didn't need the temptation. And then we moved and happened to have a chintzy plastic betta fish tank that happened to appear when unpacking. Seed planted. So we spend an evening checking out if you pet shops in looking at betta's . Bought one for said chintzy fish tank for my 3 year old to have a fish and that set the ball rolling. I wanted my own fish too. But as selective as I am, just any ok' pretty betta wouldn't do. So in I went to this locall aquatic store with no idea what I'd find. My first thought?? This store looks kinda sketchy. And it does not smell pretty. It would be equivalent to a dive bar of the aquatic world. No-frills kind of store. Bare cement. No fancy bright decorations to be found. Just rows and rows of stacked fish tanks, piles of rocks, aquatic plants (that were actually IN tanks of water) and lots of special tree pieces make for aquariums. But the staff...they are AMAZING!! I mean, come on, I came in for a betta fish. Not really a high dollar sale for them. But they www really above and beyond sweet, helpful and not only answered all my uneducated betta fish questions but the guy Andy (I'm guessing the owner??) even told me some tips on how I can do this gorgeous betta tank thing even more economical and actually showed me how he cleans the filter on hIs pump instead of buying new filters! I left with a tall 2 gallon square aquarium (it was even on sale!!) and a chunk of wood that he gave me an idea of trimming it down to make a tree from to fit my pretty little tall square glass aquarium. Oh, and a live moss ball plant for my 3 year olds betta fish to play with. He told me exactly what to do with that chunk of wood over this next week (put it in hot water and soak it for a week) to prepare it for my tank so that when they find the perfect fish for me, it would be ready. (Well, I'm going back next week to buy little plants to the wood to make it look like an actual tree- his idea that he walked me thru on how to pull it off!) Yep, that's right, I didn't even leave with a fish. They were willing to search for just the right platinum white half moon rosetail betta for me. And even agreed to send me videos of the ones they find before I decide one it!!! I have never in my life experienced such AMAZING customer service!! These people are SO awesome!!! And by the way, they do have some pretty cool fish you would NEVVVER find at Petco too. (Hello stingray and piranha.)

good staff, good fish, been there a few times and always left satisfied. planning to get at least…read moresome of the fish for my future community tank from here.

When I think of Dr. Deb Thornquist, I hear her voice looking down lovingly at my Lil' Tyra Banks…read moreand saying...."You are such a brave little girl" :) Having a small Brussels Griffon, Dr. Deb found a smaller tool to use to help relieve Tyra of painful, ear infections. When Tyra was out of state and I needed a second opinion, I emailed Dr. Deb and she called me followed up with an email. Finding out Tyra's health was failing from kidney failure, she worked with the Kidney Specialist, always wanting to be in the loop and co-vet with helpful advice, watching for reports to be added into Tyra's file and confirming we were making the right decisions and sharing her opinions when asked. We had 3 "bonus months" with Tyra and Dr. Deb was empathetic, compassionate, professional and loving....she made suggestions to aid us in painful decisions we would have to make in what we knew was in our future. Being proactive, my daughter and I made an appointment with Dr. Deb to prepare for what might be putting Lil' Tyra down. At the end, Tyra was not in pain, but I could tell her health was failing fast. The receptionist answered the phone hearing the panic in my voice. With Dr. Deb not available that day, she gave me the phone number to call someone to the house since we didn't want a stranger making Tyra feel scared. For whatever reason, God only knows, Tyra was not in pain so she passed in my arms in her sleep at home in her safe place. It was the most heartwrenching moment I have ever had but I know that was a blessing knowing not everyone can do that with end of life situations. I loved my furry daughter all the way through to the end. She was relaxed, fell asleep *snoring* and shortly later she was gone. My heart still hurts but I know it will be replaced with loving memories over time. When Dr. Deb was notified that Tyra lost her battle with kidney failure, she called me. I saw Kelley Animal Hospitals's number on my screen and knew it was her. Hearing her voice gave me comfort and her words of love for my Tyra meant more to me than she will probably ever know. It has only been 5 days since my final goodbye to Tyra, but reflecting that dogs may live and share only 1/3 of their lives with us....I think to myself...what a special person Dr. Deb is to sooo many people and their pets. I knew "Dr. Kelley" She was a passionate vet, with a love for all animals, who opened "Kelley Animal Hospital" and I believe she is looking down from heaven and smiling because she knows that Dr. Debbie is a gift to our community just as she/Dr. Kelley was when she opened up this animal hospital. Thanks Deb, I will forever remember and share with others how grateful we were to have you take care of my brave little girl. Puppy kisses from Tyra in Doggy Heaven!
