Apparently adulting can be fun thanks to this odd and quirky laundromat. Only in portland can you find a laundromat with a bar/lounge area and arcade area....I love it. It's always such a drag washing my down comforter because it's so thick and full of goose feathers so it NEEEEEEDS to be washed delicately. The laundry machines here made it easy and fast to wash and dry mine. Usually at home it takes at least 3 hours just to dry my comforters on high but since they have such ginormous dryers, I was able to dry my comforter in 45 min on low heat setting so it doesn't get ruined. AND they give out fragrance-free soup. Score. read more

Seriously the best laundry mat in town. I used to come here often when my rental didn't offer a washer and dryer I still come every once in a while to get laundry done fast. Their washing machines offer a quick cycle that washes your clothes in under 20 minutes!! There are small, medium, and large washing machines, as well as large and super extra large dryers. They have options to purchase natural laundry detergent. There's a little attached café with coffee, tea, snacks, beer and wine! They have a projector tv (currently playing tennis). They also offer free WiFi. The typical load costs around $4-6 and drying is $0.50/15 min. All the machines accept coin or card. The machines have an option to send you a text when they are nearing done! Upstairs you will find a little arcade with ping pong, Frogger, and Street Fighter etc. read more

With laundry being an essential yet dreaded task, SPIN has always felt like a calm place to take care of these chores. More like a living room or a cool communal laundry room, than the stereotypical city 'fluff-n-fold'. The machines vary in sizes which is helpful when you have a small pile or want to wash delicates. I tend to need their larger washers and find them to be a lifesaver when I haven't got far more laundry than time or patience. The owner is super kind, and they products they stock are A++ This year I'm going to be sure to bring my weatherised gear in to re-treat the gore-tex. This building was empty for years which made me sad because it's one of my favorites in the neighborhood. So I wasnt too excited to learn about a laundromat moving in to the space. However, They did a great job of designing the inside and its not only really cute, it's comfy and affordable and has Internet! Which is actually becoming hard to find in small cafes around town to discourage people from camping out all day. But not here, it's built with the idea people will need to stay for a while. I have my own laundry at home but this is likely to become my new go to place when I need a coffee and want to be around people but need to do a little work. This place is awesome & the concept is super cool!! Came here as a "tourist" to check out the scene, grab a drink and catch up with a friend. I love how all different walks of life come here ... even a dog! I also liked the separated space from laundromat to cafe. Had their Alberta St Chai and a grilled cheese sandwich and it was delicious. Wish there was a place like this in California, but then again, Spin can be imitated but never replicated. The facility is great and the staff in the laundry area are really helpful. The machines are clean and in top notch working condition. The cute instructions on the machines make the laundry process super easy to follow as well. The machines even offer text message updates if you choose to opt in. The coffee shop experience, however, was a little different. The barista there either doesn't like her job or was quite annoyed that I asked for a simple suggestion / opinion on my drink order. As a visiting out-of-towner I find it quite helpful to ask locals on their opinions whenever I'm visiting a new place and I suppose she was not quite keen on my one question. She was quite rude in fact and wasn't pleasant towards me. I even said "thank you" when picking up my order from the counter and she didn't even acknowledge me. Oh well! Hopefully it was just a bad day. Aside from that, I'd still recommend Spin to anyone visiting the city who needs to make a quick laundry run. I went just to say hi to a friend who was doing laundry, so this is about the food. $11 dollars for a Sunrise bowl. The amount of food was minuscule. Little bit of beans & rice, some purple cabbage slivers, lil red peppers and some avocado sauce, it all looked and tasted like a drunk person threw it together. Even Laughing planet doesn't charge that for a bowl, and it was more like a cup. It's rare that I look at my food and feel completely robbed, even rarer that I write a Yelp review. Cool spot, came on a Friday afternoon. Lucked out and got a spot right next to the area. Parking is extremely limited, also because there is construction next door. Did laundry and hung out in their cafe, they make excellent paninis. There's also 4 beer taps and the selection rotates, among other canned beers. If you're visiting or need a quick clean up this is a great spot to check out. Doing laundry here is convenient, clean and a nice place to hang out. However I'm disappointed and saddened by the owner and their lack of support for their employees. An incident where a customer was transphobic and intolerant of a trans employee occurred. The employee asked the rude customer to leave and then I found out that the employee was fired a few days later for "bad customer service." He was the nicest, most accommodating employee and his decision to remove the intolerant customer was completely understandable. This is really a shame as Spin is a great place to do laundry. But if you are, like me, concerned with giving your business to ethical business establishments you should reconsider giving it to Spin. read more

I love this place. I know it's like *very very Portland* to have a laundromat cafe with pinball machines and a projector playing maybe I dunno, Friends reruns, but the wifi is strong making it a perfect place for a multitasker like me. After spending two days in the vet ER with my dog's life on the line, I was in need to wash some articles of bedding and towels from a very sick pup. @ 11:15 i Called to inquire when last load was. They advised me it was at midnight and doors close at 1am... Arrived at location @ 11:55. Laundry and soap were in washers by 12:00 on the dot. I already ran my card and started one load @ 12:01. @12:03 Was in the process of sliding my card and starting the second machine when I was approached by a staff member that was clearly not happy about my laundry being done. She advised me their closing time was midnight and asked me how I got in their establishment. (Walked through the automated door) she walks off in a very frustrated fashion. About 3 minutes later she comes back accompanied by another employee. At this point... They begin to lecture me about consumer etiquette for a good two minutes straight, to which I responded "I fully understand" 3 times in response to them repeating their rules and frustrations... multiple times. About 6 minutes later I was approached by the man I spoke with over the phone (the owners husband). He begins to reiterate the same thing the previous employees had already informed me of 4 times. He remembered speaking with me on the phone and acknowledged the time frame he informed me of. But... Wanted to also advice me how highly they value their employees leaving work on time and in the future, he "wished I would respect that". I've spent nearly $600 there since Spin opened. It was my favorite laundromat in PDX. Needless to say I won't be going back. I would also like to note: my departure was @12:58. Which is prior to their 1am closing time. It would have been about 5 minutes earlier hadn't that borderline harassment taken place. For clarity, I'd like to describe the instigator of this atrocious form of customer service and employee etiquette. She is a night shift worker with blonde hair, mid-late 30's, 5'3"ish, speaks in a veritably poor form, and wears copious layers of bright colored clothing. Final note: it was a pleasant surprise when 15 minutes prior to closing, she comes and sits two stools away from me while speaking to a friend on the phone, she informs the friends he can come inside... When he does, she greets him with a hug and he begins to gaze my direction and loudly asked "are you done yet?? You're usually out of here by this time" ... As to which he doesn't break eye contact with me for nearly seven steps while walking away. Are you kidding? Do you think your immature, passive aggressive antics went unnoticed? It was almost as if her leather jacket wearing acquaintance was trying to intimidate me. Better luck next time, guys... You just cost the owner of spin (your employer) roughly $900 a year. Not including how many people I have referred to that establishment that will most DEFINITELY sud somewhere else after I share this review with about 500 facebook friends. Who likes laundromats? Not me. But Spin changes all that. First of all, the space is not the usual grim drop-ceiling strip mall room, but a tall, light, converted mechanic shop of some type. I was greeted by a lovely, friendly woman who helped me choose the right machines and provided free soap. Then it was over to the cafe for a hand made non-dairy vanilla cream soda and one of the most perfect grilled cheese sandwiches ever. Served with apple slices, or fries if you like. The espresso was superb! My wash and dry were done quickly without baking my clothing. They also have a loft with vintage video arcade I highly recommend Spin. It was my first time walking in last week. One of the friendly patrons there let us know that someone who works there should give us a run down since the machines aren't your typical machines and the soap needed was different. When I didn't see anyone around, I asked for assistance from a bunch of girls working behind the coffee/beer bar and the person who "helped" was not at all helpful. All she did was set it to quick wash and told us to pay and press start (and looked at us like we were stupid). When I asked about the soap, she just walked away without saying anything, reappeared a few moments later with soap, poured it in and walked away again without a word. The beer was cold and the dryers were quick, but not sure the "service" is worth the pricey amount that they charge. read more

Extremely helpful staff! I am in Portland for business for a month and my hotel doesn't have laundry and I have been dreading the laundromat life. When I came across Spin it gave me the motivation to finally do my laundry knowing I could enjoy a beer while I waited. The staff was beyond helpful with providing soap and having all the products you could need. They helped me with a stain in a wool coat and I even got to dry my clothes for free after purchasing a beer from the cafe! This will definitely be my go-to laundromat for my time in Portland. My cats, whom I love to death, I really do! Puked up a hair ball(along with about a cup of yellowish-brown liquid, ON MY BED! I thought (briefly) about dry cleaning it:that just doesn't really get your stuff as fresh smelling.....so I Googled it: "Can I wash my down comforter in the washer?" Surprisingly, Google said yes! The catch? It has to be a extra-large capacity one-like the ones at the laundromat-oh, and it takes literally HOURS to wash & dry it. I don't have hours to spare in my days! Called Spin "yep! We'll wash & dry it & text you when it's done!" AND it's only $20....which, although they usually collect up front, they let me pay when I picked it up, as I had left my wallet at home. Less than 24 hours later, I got the text. It was done! Picked up a stain-free, smelling great, no-puke residue duvet! I LOVE SPIN! read more

I'm one of those people who will travel completely out of my way to get exactly what I want with good service. Sure, there's a washer/ dryer at my apartment building in SE... but it's gross and scary down there. Spin is everything I ever dreamed for a laundromat and more! I'm able to enjoy a glass of wine (or beer, or Kombucha) and panini while watching a Blazers game or movie projected on the cafe wall (with the added bonus of finally getting laundry done). There's a cool loft area upstairs with two pinball machines and a comfortable couch. The owner and employees are super nice, too. I appreciate how they keep the space clean and are knowledgeable about the machines. The owner even remembered my name the second time I came in, which is amazing and nice. If you forget soap, no big deal, they offer a free scoop with every load! I'm a huge fan of their late hours, too! I love Spin Laundry Lounge. read more

First, I effin' HATE doing laundry with a fiery passion. I would rather do a month's worth of 8th grade algebra than have to do a week's worth of laundry. So I shouldn't be surprised when I have 3 months of laundry built up that's taking over my room like scary, dilapidated muppets. I'm then finally forced to borrow a car, load it with all my baggage that I'm ready to just dump in a fire, and take it to a laundromat. Fortunately, now that I've found Spin, I don't have to burn all my clothes. Spin is flippin' awesome, and if you're not already convinced by the other 80+ near perfect reviews, I'm adding another to top you off. There's amazingly helpful, cheerful staff that made me feel comfortable after dragging my laundry baskets around looking dazed and confused. He was so on top of things, and was helping everyone with the same level of enthusiasm and friendliness. No one looked unhappy. WHAT. We were all 20- and 30-somethings doing laundry and NONE OF US WERE UNHAPPY. *Mind explodes* Best part? I like to go late at night, and after 10pm they do happy hour at the cafe, which is $1 off microbrews and wine, stuff like that, and if you buy just one thing from the cafe (doesn't have to be alcohol) then you get FREE DRY TIME for the rest of the night! (The last load has to be in by midnight.) I don't think there's anything better than relaxing with a cold IPA waiting for free laundry to dry, feeling productive and relieved. It helps me pretend I'm an actual ADULT. (lulz) Seriously, go here to make yourself smell better. It's worth the drive, and your friends will thank you for it. read more

Great place. If you've got dirty duds, this is your place. We came in off of a few days hiking Crater Lake / PCT with our stinky backpacking clothes and Shawn took EXCELLENT care of us as newbies. Detergent is complimentary. And he recommended that we use vinegar to get our gear even cleaner. Guess it was obvious we were in rough shape. The coffee / beer bar hit the spot while we waited with local brews of both varieties. Met a young couple that was there washing their stuff as well and got some great recos for dinner within walking distance. Most fun I've had doing laundry - ever. read more

Let me start by saying: THIS IS THE BEST LAUNDROMAT IN TOWN. I drive 15 minutes from my apartment, pay extra money, and hope and pray for parking, just so I can have a really nice laundry experience. Crazy? I think not... Why would I go to a mediocre, boring, soul-sucking laundromat around the corner from my apartment, when I can come to the wonderful Spin Laundry Lounge? They take cards at each machine (which text you when it's done), free wifi, couches, coffee tables, and a wine/beer/cafe?! DID I MENTION THE WINE AND BEER? I mean, come on! There's a nice arcade upstairs in their loft area as well. They give you free laundry detergent and if you "check-in" on Yelp and purchase something from the cafe, they will take care of your dry time for one load. Does it get any better than that? You can have your laundry washed, dried, and folded in an hour, give or take depending on how fast you fold. And if you're too busy or lazy to do your laundry yourself, then by all means, have them do it! read more

Sh*t gets dirty & that's just a fact of life. And then there's a time in life when sh*t gets dirty and complicated and just full of all kinds of bad luck... Like this past week for us! We had to bite the bullet and go to the laundromat despite our loathing of such facilities... Lets face it... The laundromats close to our home are filthy and sketchy. Our home washing machine was acting up and added to that fun was the f*cking drain backing up due to plumbing woes (thanks to the ancient sewer lines in our gorgeous city). The bottom line was: the mountain of laundry isn't magically cleaning itself and we were tired of wearing old outfits that only come out once every 5 years when stuff like this happens. We gathered up all our clothes and decided to take Spin for a spin. From the moment that the double glass doors opened we fell in love. The space is open, clean, sleek, aesthetically pleasing, and the soundtrack pumping out of the speakers was pleasant. Then there was Gary - the employee whose customer service was impeccable, infectious, and downright lovely. All new Electrolux high capacity machines give you the top of the line access to the best of the best. The damn things even texted me when they were done! I don't even care if the robots are taking over - this was just brilliant! Free detergent (an eco friendly / high efficiency / hypo allergenic powder) and competative pricing make this place a winner in my book. We scooted over to the cafe where the employee behind the counter was helpful and kind. We slurped on some chai tea and hammered out work on the laptops while the machines cleaned everything from our comforters to our unmentionables. When we were finished I felt sad to leave... I commented to my wife: "Lets sell our fancy washing machine at home and just come here to have a happy laundry experience from now on!" She seemed to agree... Thanks Spin! read more

Thank you, Spin Laundry Lounge, for making laundry significantly less miserable than usual. I could even say I enjoy doing my laundry here. This is officially the cleanest laundromat I have ever been to. Not only that, the design is awesome! The huge windows and enormous ceiling fans serve both aesthetic and practical purposes. There is plenty of seating throughout. PLUS, a connected cafe! This is seriously genius. I'm surprised this hasn't been done before (that I know of, at least). Of course a fresh cup of coffee or a beer or a glass of wine would make doing chores more enjoyable. In fact, now we can make it a social event! Pressed for time, but promised a friend you would hang out with her? Make a date at Spin! Need to bring your family? There are pinball machines upstairs! Seriously, this place makes life so much better. Lastly, all this awesomeness is completely affordable. It's comparable, if not cheaper than what I would pay in to use the machines in my building, and significantly more efficient. I go in with two weeks of laundry for two people, and walk out within 45 minutes. Ok, I admit, I save the folding for home, but still. HUGE and efficient washers and dryers... They also offer wash and fold, which is something I would normally flock to, but since the machines here are so quick and the space is so wonderful, I don't even need that anymore. read more

We all hate / dread going to these places but with features like a cafe / bar / lounge, texting capability to notify you when your laundry is done, cool music, video games, tv's, free wifi, plenty of couches and chairs, and free soap (!) it's a great place to get mundane things done in an enjoyable way. The first five or so times I came here I was very disappointed. I've left multiple times without getting laundry done. The most recent few times I've gone I have had a better experience. Cons: - There is not enough parking. I've stalked the area waiting for one of the few parking spots to open and/or spots along the roads. I don't want to walk five blocks with heavy ass laundry baskets. The parking here makes ZERO sense. - The music is pretty loud. It was hard to just relax and read or even listen to my own music - Ppl either don't utilize the alerts or they ignore them when their laundry is done. I've stalked machines for 15 minutes after the laundry stops and nobody cleans the machine out. - Too much instruction on the machines. Just put a couple bullet points quick so we don't have to read a novel and get lost in words trying to figure out the quirks of the machines. - Although it's nice that they have food and drinks here, they are def over priced. I've spent more on food and beverages than on laundry. Pros: - There have been a few instances where the staff was really friendly. - I like that they will just swipe their card and run the machine when you experience errors and they don't sit and try and figure out exactly how much money was in the machine and how much it charged your card so far and blah blah blah. They just swipe and give you ample time to make up for any errors. - Open late! read more

I travel around for work and usually rely on a laundromat to wash my underwear and socks (so I don't have to bring dirty laundry in my luggage back home to wash). Spin Laundromat is hands down the best laundromat I've ever gone to, and even though I have to bus 20 minutes to get there it is so worth it. Other laundromats I've been to were dirty and I had to inspect the laundry machine before using it to make sure I don't get a filthy one. Spin Laundromat is amazingly clean and sanitary and a very chill place to be. The prices are a bit higher than other laundromats but it's laundry - a premium price is still pretty cheap. I pay $3.75 for a medium warm load and $1.00 for a 30 minute dry. They also offer personal laundry services but I haven't used them yet. Overall I would definitely recommend everyone to use Spin as their laundromat. PROS: - Very clean. - Machines look new and high-tech (can text you when you laundry is done) - All machines accept credit card - Free laundry soap!! - Decent settings on each machine to customize your wash and dry - Cafe and nice seating area - Located nearby some good restaurants and bus stops CONS: - Seriously, none. read more

My load of laundry stopped and there were suds on the inside of the door. I called over a staff member who said that they must be "left over". I've personally never done laundry and had leftover suds after the rinse cycle. Concerned that my laundry was still soapy, I asked if this was how the machine was supposed to function. The employee didn't know and just shrugged her shoulders. She explained that less soap is needed for these types of machines and I acknowledged this and said that I had followed the instructions on the machine for the amount of detergent. She said that I could run another rinse cycle if I wanted to. I take issue with spending another $7+ for a load of laundry when I don't think that the machine was functioning properly. She didn't feel that the machine was at fault because it had been working fine all day. She then walked away from me. Nice job on the customer service. I have to say I've never had an enjoyable laundry experience until I came to Spin Laundry Lounge. I didn't want to leave! I was actually sad that the machines were super fast because I wanted an excuse to stay and hang out longer! This is what I did on my Saturday night and it didn't feel like I was doing a chore. My wash was completely done in 40 min! Talk about convenient. I had a gluten-free cookie and tea and kicked back with a friend. The atmosphere is laid back; people were playing pinball, reading, and lounging. This is perfect for people who have busy schedules because it gives them time to socialize while they get laundry done. The employees are great and are really taking care of their customers, explaining how the machines text you when the laundry is almost done, how they only use as much water as your laundry needs depending on the weight, and how the interiors are sanitized before each use.
